BEST gelato I've had in Houston! There's a wide array of Asian-inspired flavors such as black sesame, taro, and Vietnamese coffee. They have lots of unique flavors I haven't seen anywhere else, such as goat cheese with sage oil and sea salt, and my personal favorite, SWEET CORN WITH RICOTTA! Be sure to sample it if it's in rotation, it tastes just like movie theater popcorn! The workers are very patient and accommodating, I probably asked for a sample of every flavor that was available! The Gelato Spot is right next to and also accessible directly from Hyde Park. We decided we needed gelato while we were eating our pizza. According to a sign in the store, the gelato is made in house, which is cool. There were lots of unique flavors and I should have taken a picture of the case, but alas I did not. They offered samples and Mark sampled the Lemon Pie (or a similar name) and loved it. He ordered two scoops - one lemon and one coffee. I tried both and WOW, the lemon was fantastic! I ordered one scoop of Tiramisu, which included alcohol. I almost passed on it because we don't drink, but I figured it couldn't be any stronger than 'near beer'. I'm glad I got the Tiramisu. It was delicious. I would never suspect there was alcohol in it. Because we would be heading home after, we decided to have a seat and eat it in the shop, which is very clean and cute. Delicious gelato spot with amazing Asian flavors. It is Nestled nice between Hyde park and nobi public house. It is a shared shopping center so the parking lot gets pretty full in peak hours. The lady behind the counter was very patient with my kiddos wanted to sample numerous flavors. I do appreciate it because I hate to get a flavor they won't eat. I devoured the ube and biscotti flavors. Highly recommend these flavors but I love majority of ube flavors that I eat. There is high table seating and a cute little couch spot. Came here after dinner at Hyde (owners of Nobi, the Gelato, and Hyde all the same). Walked right in from the inside of Hyde. I loved their spin on Asian flavored gelato instead of typical Italian. Just look at the flavors! Service - was great. It ebbs and flows with a lot of customers, or none at all. When we dropped in, after dinner, we were alone. Friendly lady at the counter let us try a lot of flavors (thank you, kind lady!). I tried the Ube (not too sweet) , chocolate (very rich) , and Happy Accident (very peanut buttery). I settled on the Black Sesame, very savory. We sat and enjoyed our small cups, which was just enough for after dinner, on their couches, that they have. Overall, solid! read more

Second time here and it's still delicious gelato! Not all of their fruit gelato's are fresh like the fig mascarpone. It has a fig preserve which made it too sweet for my liking. My only complaint is they shut off the cappuccino machine at 9 but they stay open until 11. Their excuse was because it takes a while to decompress. Why 5 stars? Because the flavors here are ridiculous. --- --- --- After a spicy meal, I generally crave ice cream to cool down my esophagus. Is that good science? I don't know, but it usually makes me seem to feel better, so I'm gonna continue rolling with it. I heavily debated where to go, but eventually opted to visit The Gelato Spot, despite it not being in the most convenient location for where we were at the time. I pulled up to see that it was next to Nobi and later found out it was owned by them. They have some amazing flavors and it totally makes sense that it's a Nobi joint because of choices like taro, ube, pandan, etc. I went with a cone of pandan birthday cake and taro and it was everything I hoped it would be. Heaven on a cone. What's really wild is that with those two flavors being options, I wouldn't think anything would even be within consideration because I love both of those things so much. But to be honest, shame was standing in my way of asking for more samples, because I legitimately wanted to try just about every flavor in the case. With family I often visit nearby, I definitely plan on making a return visit or three in the future to make my way through all the flavors! read more

Horrible customer service !!!! Spent 50 on gelato to be told they don't have lids for two scoop cup to able to take them to go . That we could go next door and get a Togo box , or order a 3 scoop cup ! The employees were short and rude . Love the gelato crappy service . read more

We first went to this spot when they had first opened, and the two of us were satisfied with the texture and flavor of the gelato. The owners and staff were very open to suggestions, whether it was flavor ideas, what was missing, or where to improve. Needless to say, we asked for an Ube flavor and whether or not it was in the works.. they listened and rolled it out shortly after! It exceeded my expectations and I had to take home a pint (~$12.00). I'm very excited to see what other flavors they add to their menu and I hope the Ube is here to stay. Deliciousness! Place is clean and nestled in between Nobi and Hyde Park. About 16 flavors to choose from at any given time and between the two of us, we had 5 flavors. Not a miss with any of them! I had Biscoff, yes the cookie flavor, and it tasted just like it! I also got coconut and Black Bear which had whiskey in it and tasted like an Irish coffee. Hubby got pistachio and lemon and both were reminiscent of Italy. Creamy and smooth this gelato is just pure yumminess! A few high tops to perch while you eat and they have the full coffee experience with expresso, cappuccino and even affogato. Glad we found this spot! read more

However, we stood at the front door, which was already locked, for several minutes while two employees served a couple inside. Upon that couple exiting through the front door and the clock changing to 10pm, an employee then told us they were closed and wouldn't serve us... very disappointing, given we arrived before 10pm and they were still serving another couple. read more

This place just opened up and it's already becoming one of my favorites. The gelato is so creamy and the flavors are quite unique and delicious. Definitely give it a try. I like that it's not a sweet as regular ice cream and the serving sizes are not too heavy. I always go for one scoop. They also have espresso shots which I feel are the perfect pairing. read more

After lunch at Hyde Park Kitchen+ Bar, I wanted to try the gelato next door. Actually The Gelato Spot is connected to Hyde Park Kitchen! You can just go through the aisle next to the kitchen/bar, and you're already there! Their gelato is freshly made, creamy, and they have a vast quality of flavors. The staff are kind and patient while filling out your order, they scoop your gelato perfectly, and offer plenty of napkins. Gelato Spot also offers freshly brewed coffee and at the counter for checkout, they sell their own lollipops. However, I was not pleased that not all their gelato are naturally colored. For example, their Ube gelato, they use dye for color. It stains your teeth, but most importantly consuming foods containing artificial colors/dyes are toxic to your body. I've had Ube ice cream elsewhere, and it was delicious, WITHOUT relying on artificial dyes/colors. At least the taro gelato didn't contain anything artificial. Since Hyde Park Kitchen works with real ingredients, why can't Gelato Spot do the same? read more
