The service was speedy until they got a little busier then we had to call someone over, but it didn't take too long. The space was big and it seemed like they are pet-friendly. They have a patio area as well. It was a nice brunch place to go to and talk, and seemed good for big groups. The food was below expectations. It seemed like the ingredients didn't go well with each other. The biscuit was really good but everything on top and around it didn't mesh well. It seemed like they threw things together. The egg was cooked well I just wish everything tasted better together.

Really wanted to love this place but the price and overall food impression lacked. GREAT atmosphere and friendly service staff. I think it's just very difficult to upscale good quality Mexican food without doing too much and losing the authenticity. Cappuccino was great, chilaquiles lacked in flavor was good portion sizing I added steak but was underwhelming, highlight was definitely desert! The French toast cinnamon roll was delicious. Overall, fun spot for drinks and a quick bite, wouldn't recommend a full meal for the price.

    (sad ultra soggy) Chilaquiles

Eh. It's not outstanding but it's not not edible either. Let's recap on the scene. It's located in the River Oaks District, among many upscale stores and ipic theater. The parking can be done in their garage for free, which has several floors, or on the streets nearby. It was a beautiful Saturday, weather was cooperating to enjoy the small walk window shopping at the same time. We had made a reservation for our group, which required a $100 deposit. We were sat on time and our wait staff provided services promptly. A few notes: - the decor is pretty. It is picture pretty for photos and souvenirs, outside and inside. - the inside smells like a restaurant. We left smelling like the restaurant. Ventilation was poor. - menu is long like IHOP menu long. - they serve breakfast items all day. - Waiter poured water on the floor by accident but didn't wipe (water did dry on its own) - their smoothies or juice they claim is overpriced and full of ice. Lemonade is sweeter than a can of coke. The food was very average. We ordered the guac as our appetizer, which was a bit on the salty side. Tacos were were very small portions for the money you pay. I had looked and most of you all mentioned the chilaquiles. Great portion for $20 something. But those chips were soggy like they went for a swim an hour ago. Nothing crispy. Bland green sauce. Eggs were cooked like I ordered though. I tasted my friend's enchiladas with Swiss cheese. Whatever fusion they tried to do, that Swiss cheese was not the change that was needed. At checkout, they had forgotten that there was $100 deposited. There are so many Mexican restaurants in this town. It's so competitive. This one does not make any mark. And really, overpriced for what it is. Not memorable. Not recommended. Wouldn't return. Blah.

Mar y Tierra tacos (ribeye and shrimp). You get three small-to-medium tacos on corn tortillas. They were really good

We had a great experience at Ojo de Agua and will definitely be back. For drinks, I ordered the Mezcalita and my date had the Dragon Fruit Martini. My Mezcalita came out a little smaller than expected, but don't let the size fool you -- it packed a serious punch. If you like mezcal, it tastes exactly like a proper mezcal cocktail should. The Dragon Fruit Martini, on the other hand, was a nice generous size and had a really good kick too. If you like your drinks a little strong but still on the sweeter side, this one is a great choice. We started with the guacamole, which came with fresh chips and was topped with a little white cheese and pomegranate seeds. It was super fresh, refreshing, and a great portion size -- both of us ate from it and still had some left. For our meal, we ordered the Mar y Tierra tacos (ribeye and shrimp). You get three small-to-medium tacos on corn tortillas. They were really good -- honestly, just a tiny pinch of salt would have made them perfect, but I would absolutely order them again. The server told us they're one of the most popular items on the menu, and I can see why. Before we left, we ordered a shot of their house reposado, chilled, with an orange slice. When I say smooth, I mean super smooth. And that's coming from someone who usually drinks Clase Azul Reposado. I didn't even catch the name of the tequila, but it was excellent and I'd definitely order it again. The service was impeccable. Our waiter, Orlando, took great care of us, told us about their brunch and the live music on Saturdays, and even let us look at the brunch menu (which looks like a whole vibe). We'll absolutely be back -- and hopefully Orlando will be our server again. Good food, good drinks, good service. Looking forward to coming back for brunch where the real vibe happens.

    Ceviche Tropical
    Rachal R.

I really enjoyed brunch here. I had the green pozole which was very good. The ceviche tropical which I honestly cannot wait to go back for. It was so flavorful and different than what I have had at other restaurants - the tuna marinated in lime and soy sauce. We also had filet al pastore taco that we thought were good. I also had a mimosa with coconut juice. I will likely skip this next time I go as it was a little too sweet and had coconut flakes that I just felt took away from the drink. Service - despite negative notes on service, my experience was fine. Our waitress came by to check on us timely. We did have an issue with ordering wine. We specifically asked for a sparkling wine and were told that the bottle we were purchasing was sparkling but there seemed to be a misunderstanding and the bottle that was brought and opened was not sparkling (even when I questioned that it wasn't). When it was poured and there were not bubbles - the issue was addressed and corrected. The two top table was a bit small. I felt very cramped on the table and we ordered just three items and drinks.

Phenomenal service! Location: westheimer Parking: meter parking or valet $10 Staff: Javier was phenomenal. We arrived @10am and didn't leave until after 3pm. He was always nice and patient with us. He explained the menu, did a few recommendations and always with a smile. Wait time: none Seating:Indoor and outdoor. Outdoor has fans available. We decided to stay indoor by a window view since it was very hot outside. Seats are pretty wide with a good back support. Price: average. We spend @ $100/person. Shared appetizer, dessert, 3 drinks each and chilaquiles. Including tip Drink: I went for the spritz as well as the pretty, refreshing pink drink with tequila. I think it was dragon fruit. All were very yummy and refreshing. The one with tequila definitely had a stronger kick. Food: started with a latte, basic taste nothing crazy. Red chilaquiles had a yummy taste and habanero salsa was definitely a great hit. Churro cheese cake was delicious and perfect size to share with 3. Guacamole was delicious with the banana and topopos. Over all great place. Highly recommend for a girls day, date, or anything. Place is very well decorated, clean and spacious to walk. Service is phenomenal, food and drinks are yummy. Recommend valet for parking.

    Shrimp tacos

The restaurant is cute and was very busy on a Sunday morning for brunch! The shrimp tacos were good and not traditional, they were chopped up and mixed with cheese and other fillings. It was not just shrimp, different but still tasty. I ordered the anjillo shrimp for my main course and it wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped. 3/5. The shrimp were large and cooked well, but the flavor was lacking. I ordered a aperol spritz and it was made well and very tasty. No complaints. 10/10! The menu was expansive so I would definitely go back and try other things on the menu. Our waiter was very friendly and the service was great.

I came for Saturday brunch, elated to finally try this place with family, but I wasn't impressed. First of all, our food was served cold after waiting nearly half an hour for the food to come out. We weren't the only ones waiting either, so it let me know they were probably understaffed or had staff that wasn't trained well enough. We started off with the queso flameado, while all our food came out cold, this menu item was served warm. My favorite part was the homemade tortillas, the kitchen was nice enough to bring our party of six extra tortillas. Queso Flameado: 5/5, it had nice flavor. Tasted like what I would have made at home and it paired so nicely with the homemade corn tortillas. Pozole Verde: 2.5/5, it was overpowered with the taste of cumin. You can tell the cooks are not Mexican at this restaurant which is sad all things considered that this is a Mexican restaurant. Aside from that, all the 3 pozoles we ordered were served cold. The nice touch was that all pozoles were served with a side of corn tortilla chips. Chilaquiles: 2/5, it was just like chips with cold salsa. This menu item was also served cold. Not anything special. Ribeye Tacos: 3.5/5, the meat was tender served in homemade corn tortillas. This menu item was served at room temperature, but it was not appeasing enough to finish the whole meal. Tulum Mimosa: 5/5, we ordered 2 of these and they were perfectly portioned and strong enough to enjoy. Cafe Americano: 3/5, while they didn't offer cafe de olla, because the waiter said it was outdated, we ordered 3 of the regular American coffee. It was your average coffee, not strong enough or special flavors peeking through. They serve it with slim milk so it makes it difficult to truly enjoy. Kids Meal, Grilled Ham & Cheese: 5/5, this was the only menu item served hot. It was served with a side of plaintain chips and has a portion large enough for an older child. Overall, the ambiance was nice and the restaurant owner did offer us 20% off the whole meal to compensate for the cold food served. I. My opinion, it would have been better if they just comped the cold food items, but each restaurant is different. I'm not sure if I'd return for the food, but that mimosa was something else!

My son discovered this spot and im glad he did! Everything was amazing. Food was delicious service was friendly and attentive. Ambiance hits just right very picturesque. The queso flamiado was owey gooey good!, (i ordered it with mushrooms and chorizo). The colorful corn tortillas are some of the best I've had in Houston bar none. Soft, beautiful and delicious for a corn tortilla. The sliced ribeye tacos were perfect. Ooooh and I asked for habanero salsa and it was deliciously spicy! yes! that's what I'm talking about! Man I loved it here i well definitely come back. Perfect for date night or brunch dates.

Excellent choice for a birthday celebration! The atmosphere was warm and calm, and the service was top-notch. We ordered the Spicy BBQ Brisket Sandwich, Gobernador Tacos, and Mahi Mahi Tacos--everything was delicious. The portions are medium but very satisfying. They also have a huge drink menu and the location is perfect. Highly recommend!

I had been wanting to try Ojo De Agua, so I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for a late brunch with my family. The place had such a cute vibe! The interior was thoughtfully designed, giving me major Miami feels. Their menu is incredibly diverse, offering everything from fresh juices and açaí bowls to tacos, which had me really excited. We ordered a variety of dishes, but unfortunately, nothing truly stood out. While the presentation was beautiful, the flavors didn't quite live up to the aesthetics. What We Tried: * Açaí Bowl - It was just okay. We got one scoop for $15, which felt very overpriced. * Iced Nutella Latte - This was delicious and came in a cute glass bottle, which I appreciated! * Breakfast Sandwich - Served on a croissant, but the croissant was a bit hard. It wasn't bad, but nothing special. * Salmon Deli Pecan - My sister-in-law enjoyed it and said it was pretty good. * Breakfast Tacos with Turkey Bacon - My husband liked them, but he agreed that while they looked great, they didn't wow him. Overall, it's a charming spot for a quick or healthy bite, but not necessarily a must-visit. The service was ok as well nothing out of the ordinary. If you're in the area, it's worth checking out, and I'd consider coming back to explore more of the menu!

    DRIED TOMATOES SALAD
    John B.

Decent place, but didn't WOW me. I ordered the dried tomato salad, which is quite large. If you add protein it could certainly be your entree. For my entree I ordered the Ajillo Shrimp. Nice plump shrimp! I didn't count them but probably 5 or 6. The dish looks small, but I'd say it'll still fill you up. The broth base the shrimp were in reminded me of a curry. The downside was my salad and entree were delivered at the same time. So my shrimp were starting to cool down as I ate my salad. The positives are the portion sizes are very good! Based on the portion size, I would say the salad was cheap and the Ajillo Shrimp was right in line. Also they have outdoor seating, so a great weather night like tonight, it was nice sitting outside.

Came in with a friend for a late breakfast/early lunch, and I don't expect it will be my last visit! Ojo de Agua is a beautiful space--open, airy, and filled with natural light and greenery, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal. Shortly after ordering, our server Natalie came around with a board of incredible-looking pastries, and I couldn't resist grabbing a hazelnut croissant. Unfortunately, half of it ended up on the floor (RIP), but Natalie, being the rockstar she is, brought me a replacement as soon as she found out. Service like that makes all the difference! And the croissant was delicious! For our meal, my friend and I split the Swiss Enchiladas and pork belly tacos, and let's just say... not a crumb was left behind. Both dishes were flavorful, well-executed, and worth ordering again. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Houston!

A place I grew up in as a little girl in Beaumont but never have I've visit this "original" location. Stepping in to this spot felt like a restaurant in the country of Mexico. I ordered the El Henry. I absolutely loved my dish, only thing I would've chance was the cheese enchilada definitely would've swap for a chicken or beef one, or maybe even a flaunta. I really like the Mexican rice, it had little potatoes and carrots in it. Some of the best Mexican yellow rice I've had. They offer a cinco de mayo drink special. The only thing that seem to make it special was the drinks apparently were limited edition menu items. Nothing was special about the prices. The regular menu drinks were a dollar(s) less. The margarita I ordered first was peach coconut. I didn't taste the coconut at all. I swap for the peach strawberry ($14 or 15) which was great, sweet& strong. One did me just right. You get to select up to two flavors for additional $2 (for both verse each, that's a plus. Not worded on menu). If you select a third flavor an additional $2 would be added ($4 in total) I appreciate separate tickets provided after confirmation and no additional gratuity automatically added, which he got tip equally the same or more. When asked about the "empty" patio that was available, he informed us that the entire deck was reserved. Upon departing I noticed from the parking lot individual tables, of separate parties were occupying only 3 tables. It was 8 of us sitting at 2 tables. Which the table was pushed up against the wall, and one side was inaccessible, which took away spacing. Service was lovely space was really tight. Good thing some of the ladies didn't order full meals. Definitely wouldn't have been able to fit every plate.

The chips were on the thicker side, but were crispy and not stale or chewy at all. Each of the salsas were quite different, and two were served warm, which we really liked! For the price, I'd consider getting the chips and salsa as a non-negotiable, honestly. For entrees, we tried the enchilada rojas, chilaquiles verde w/ chicken and beef, birria barbacoa ramen, and huaraches. My husband felt like his ramen could have included more meat, but aside from that everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. The highlight was probably the desserts, though! Also, from a decor perspective, they could certainly use a "freshening up" though perhaps a newer larger location would be a better idea. In addition to this, there can be a significant 2-4 hour wait to get seated during peak hours. However, all of the customers I spoke with stated that once you were able to sit down, the overall experience was worth waiting for. The main feature that makes Doña Leti's stand out from other restaurants is its focus on tradition in terms of how the food is made. Each dish has very unique flavors. The dishes are also very large portions and offer a great amount of comfort while still being high end. Additionally, the drink offerings are an excellent choice. They are made with the same attention to detail as the meals, and add to the flavor and enjoyment of your meal. The staff provides exceptional service even though the establishment is full. The staff keeps up with the large number of people coming in and out with a sense of professionalism and friendliness. One thing that Doña Leti's does exceptionally well is provide a lot of food for the price. As long as you don't mind waiting for your table, you will have a wonderful dining experience. The fact that Doña Leti's is so busy is proof that the service, food and drinks are all good, and well worth the wait

No other French toast will come close. Their homemade sauces make more tantalizing. If you like salty spicy, get the jojo sauce. I don't think it's on the menu And to finish, personally I like cocktails but their fresh filled churros are super fun. And can't beat the fresh factor! Brandon is an excellent attentive server. He knows the menu in and out. He'll steer you right. It's a neighborhood gem

A Cali girl-lala enjoying some Tex Mex…read more While in HTX I was able to meet up with a friend from college. He mentioned margaritas (not pictured) and food! So we met at Candente. Upon walking in the restaurant was clean it was pretty packed for a Wednesday night but the aroma of the food! OMG! Our server was really nice and patient because my friend and I talked for about 30 minutes before we finally ordered our food. He has the beef enchiladas with rice and black beans. He cleaned his plate...literally not a grain of rice in sight! I had the smoked chicken verde enchiladas and WOW! What an amazing dish. I consider myself a Mexican food connoisseur especially being from California. I have always said Tex Mex?.....eeeeyuck! But Candente has changed my tune! I will definitely be back to visit when I return!

Glowing red. Burning. Candente…read more Let me start by saying that I'm not into Mexican food unless it's an auntie or grandma making it at their house. I prefer traditional homemade Mexican food but here we are. (Oh I googled and suggested this place lol) Went in for a team lunch on a Friday. Coworker's birthday lunch and she wanted Mexican. Party of 9 and we were seated promptly. They have a lunch menu and a happy hour as well as a full menu and full bar. The interior was nicely decorated. And open. There is bar seating and patio seating as well. Our waitress was Aisha and she was amazing. Friendly, helpful and patient. And able handle our large group and a few more tables with a smile. There were a variety of options. Salads, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, etc. Also complimentary chips and salsa. My Order: chicken tortilla soup, lunch fajitas combo - chicken and beef. Chicken tortilla soup (3.5/5) - it was a bit salty for me but I am not a salt person so most things are salty to me; everyone else said it was tasty, there were tons of shredded chicken, avocado pieces, tortilla strips Fajitas - combo (4/5) - chicken was seasoned well and the beef (medium rare) was perfection and so tender and juicy, mexican rice was fluffy, and normally I would pass on the beans and get extra rice but my coworker suggested the charro beans and wow, that was a win - the seasoning was great, there were chunks of meat and the texture was nice, the only thing that could have been done better is the flour tortillas - they over-charred them making them too crispy and left them with a burnt taste. A couple of people got the elote salad and raved about it. So that will be a next time try. Def will be back. Everyone enjoyed their meals and some even ordered food to go. Would recommend.
