The food was genuinely excellent. They make their corn tortillas in-house, which really elevates the dishes. The salsas are fresh and flavorful -- just a heads-up: the habanero salsa is seriously spicy! If you're not used to really hot food, I'd steer clear of that one. We had a great experience at Ojo de Agua and will definitely be back. For drinks, I ordered the Mezcalita and my date had the Dragon Fruit Martini. My Mezcalita came out a little smaller than expected, but don't let the size fool you -- it packed a serious punch. If you like mezcal, it tastes exactly like a proper mezcal cocktail should. The Dragon Fruit Martini, on the other hand, was a nice generous size and had a really good kick too. If you like your drinks a little strong but still on the sweeter side, this one is a great choice. We started with the guacamole, which came with fresh chips and was topped with a little white cheese and pomegranate seeds. It was super fresh, refreshing, and a great portion size -- both of us ate from it and still had some left. For our meal, we ordered the Mar y Tierra tacos (ribeye and shrimp). You get three small-to-medium tacos on corn tortillas. They were really good -- honestly, just a tiny pinch of salt would have made them perfect, but I would absolutely order them again. It was so flavorful and different than what I have had at other restaurants - the tuna marinated in lime and soy sauce. We also had filet al pastore taco that we thought were good. I also had a mimosa with coconut juice. I will likely skip this next time I go as it was a little too sweet and had coconut flakes that I just felt took away from the drink. Service - despite negative notes on service, my experience was fine. Our waitress came by to check on us timely. We did have an issue with ordering wine. This menu item was served at room temperature, but it was not appeasing enough to finish the whole meal. Tulum Mimosa: 5/5, we ordered 2 of these and they were perfectly portioned and strong enough to enjoy. Cafe Americano: 3/5, while they didn't offer cafe de olla, because the waiter said it was outdated, we ordered 3 of the regular American coffee. It was your average coffee, not strong enough or special flavors peeking through. They serve it with slim milk so it makes it difficult to truly enjoy. Kids Meal, Grilled Ham & Cheese: 5/5, this was the only menu item served hot. It was served with a side of plaintain chips and has a portion large enough for an older child. The downside was my salad and entree were delivered at the same time. So my shrimp were starting to cool down as I ate my salad. The positives are the portion sizes are very good! Ojo de Agua is a beautiful space--open, airy, and filled with natural light and greenery, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal. Shortly after ordering, our server Natalie came around with a board of incredible-looking pastries, and I couldn't resist grabbing a hazelnut croissant. Unfortunately, half of it ended up on the floor (RIP), but Natalie, being the rockstar she is, brought me a replacement as soon as she found out. Service like that makes all the difference! Abraham T ,gave us the worst service ever. He was rude from the start, even making a face when I said I only drink water. It was 8:30 pm on a Friday night, and I'm not sure if he just wanted to leave, but when we asked for dessert, he said they had none. We were disappointed and even joked with the busboy about it. He said he was going to ask the manager about it ...Moments later, Abraham came back saying it was his mistake and they did have desserts. Still, we felt rushed, like it was inconvenient for him to serve us, so we told him never mind--we'd go elsewhere for dessert. When it came time to pay, he didn't want us to see the bill and only handed us the card machine. I asked for the ticket and saw he had added gratuity. When questioned, he claimed he was "confused" and thought we were six people instead of five. On top of that, when we asked for separate checks, he rolled his eyes and sighed like it was a huge bother. As we left, there was a manager by the door ,we told her what happened. She said it was his last week there and offered us free food or discounts for next time. Honestly, I don't care about free food--I care about having a good dining experience. I reminded her we had called to reserve a table to avoid this kind of situation, and that I saw several unoccupied tables that I doubt were all "reserved" at the same time. When she realized she was being unreasonable, she finally asked if there was a table I wanted and I said yes. So we were finally seated at a better table. My friend arrived, we ordered our food, the server came around with a tray of bread presenting it to us to choose one, as if it were complimentary. So we chose a few to eat. Later they came by with more, and we selected a few more only to find out at checkout that we were being charged for every piece. It felt deceptive. We were not told in any way that we would be charged for them. We returned the few pieces of bread (about $7 for each piece) we had selected near the end of our meal. The food was pretty good (not the best) but good enough to where there were no complaints. I probably will not go back. Mole is such a special part of Mexican cuisine, and with so many types available, I expected more. On today's visit, I ordered pozole but was served what looked like chicken soup. When I mentioned it to my server, he quickly tried to fix it, which I appreciated, but what I got back was just broth with a few garnishes and barely any pozole. At that point, I decided to pay and leave. Quesadillas ojo de agua - 9/10 - $13 - Looked like tacos lol, tasty and flavorful, especially with the sauce. Tatemados eggs - 7/10 - $17 - Very cheesy and greasy in my opinion. Great place to stop in for a brunch. The service was not prompt by any means so be ready to sit back and relax as you might be there a while. The server did bring me a Macha instead of the chai I ordered but it was good so I can't complain. The drinks we ordered were garnished with a marshmallow and were very aesthetic. read more

I went for my birthday with a bunch of friends. We loved it! Our hostess was awesome! He made us feel comfortable. All the waiters were sweet. Food was absolutely delicious! Ordered the following: Enchiladas suizas - PERFECTION. Not that spicy. Cinnamon roll french toast- I still dream about this art. I only took a picture of this food. I need the recipe asap! Chilaquiles rojos with birria- my mouth is watering just thinking of it. The drinks were also elite! The restaurant also has cute photo ops! It has a cutesy vibe to it. I loved this place! It's really cool to see more restaurants in the city featuring interior Mexican cuisine. There's nothing wrong with border Tex-Mex, but Mexico has many regions with different flavors so it's nice to have more of a variety when it comes to Mexican cuisine. I went to NYE brunch with my friend and fellow Elite Helene S. We both attended the Yelp Elite Event at Ojo de Agua a few months back and had a nice time. We saw they were hosting a NYE brunch which included a glass of complimentary champange so we decided to go. The restaurant was busy when we arrived, but we didn't have difficulty getting a table. They had a DJ on the front patio and a different playlist inside. They also have a patio on the side of the restaurant which I did not notice on my first visit. The set up is essentially counter service, though it looked like large groups that reserved tables had full waiter service. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout the entire meal. I love the decor of the restaurant. They have a little market near the registers where you can purchase fruit and other produce. I started with the Manzanillo. It has coconut juice, mango juice, and sparkling wine and it was really good and refreshing! We noticed that the waitstaff seemed to be giving out champagne to large parties. Helene asked an employee and found out that the champange was only for groups which wasn't communicated clearly. Helene worked her magic and managed to get me a glass of champagne on the house (thank you again)! I ordered the Incrustados Eggs. It's a large croissant with eggs, turkey bacon, black beans, cotija cheese, and cilantro. When they brought out my entree, it came with a spoon. After about a minute I gave up and asked for a fork and knife which a staff member brought to me. I didn't care much for the turkey bacon, but the rest of the dish was very good. I enjoyed the cilantro and black beans. The eggs were cooked over hard which I prefer. The croissant was huge and very filling. The dish could have been served a little bit hotter, but in their defense, I did wait for Helene's food to be brought out before I started eating. They offer breakfast all day and have a pretty extensive menu. They also have a decent selection of coffee drinks, fresh squeezed juices, and cocktails. It was a great experience and I'm looking forward to trying other items on the menu. read more
