Guacamole was boring but ok. Like mine more citrusy. The coco cafe was just ok as well. The caramel coffee was too watery. The caramel lollipop was good Tried the sopes but wasn't impressed The quesadilla was excellent and flavorful. I liked the two sauces and the beans. Tried all 3 meats and not sure which was better. Maybe chorizo. The churro was good and typical.
I finally got to try this popular restaurant in Houston. My family has been here so many times and always talk about it! The enchiladas are good, they do taste like enchiladas Michoacanas with a hint of mole to them. Staff is very friendly, they have complimentary valet, super nice as well. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, smaller restaurant but worth coming and eating here!
A little Mexican style cafe that is in walking distance from the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center. I like that they have a nice size parking lot next to the cafe and they have a ramp to go to the door. The service was great as got seated as soon as we walked in. It is a cute little Mexican style cafe. I got to Chilaquiles and a cup of coffee. The Chilaquiles was delicious and the coffee was tasty.

The family seated next to us commended how authentic their food was. The portions are fairly sizeable and very flavorful. I ordered enchiladas, but they're not the typical enchiladas you'd expect elsewhere. These weren't drowned in sauce, but instead highlighted a freshness to it. Service was quick and efficient, and parking wasn't too difficult to find.
If you're looking for an authentic Mexican cafe, guac this way! I came on a reference from my girlfriend and was expecting another trendy Latin-themed coffee shop/cafe. These expectations left me suprised by the quiet and modest atmosphere of this cafe. Nothing about this seemed performative. Even the playlist was deeply traditional with authentic picks (I love me some Duelo). None of the many menu items are too loud and quite simple, the way it should be. The house salsa Roja and Verde are truly amazing and can be found on many menu items. The chilaquiles were well presented with quality carnitas. The divorciados tostadas were splendid. They're also quite messy just to advise. But like I said the house salsa roja and verde make these so delicious. You'd probably expect the Mazapán coffee to be an overly sweet nightmare but this was actually not the case. The sweetness was not overbearing and it was quite enjoyable.

Come for good Tex mex brunch that'll hug you and welcome you home! I came hear with a local friend who suggested this place for brunch! I really enjoyed my coconut latte, it was such a creamy delight. It was a nice contrast to the spiciness of the mole. They do have seasonal items that they feature so look out for those! I'll definitely be back to try more of their delicious food! The service was nice and they're very attentive.
When family came into town for our wedding, I wanted to take my cousin for some authentic Mexican breakfast. Cielito is such a vibe, offering food as good as their aesthetic. With good weather, their patio is a perfect spot for brunch. Their coffee was so delicious, and the breakfast sandwich on a concha was a big hit for my brother. My cousin, who is picky about her juices, loved the Verde, which had a bright, refreshing flavor without being too tart. My Mexican style French toast with goat milk was one of the best brunch dishes I've had in Houston. Service was fantastic, and paying and separating our check at the counter was easy. Parking is pretty limited and challenging, as with most Montrose area eateries. I look forward to trying more at Cielito!
When you come here, you literally feel in Mexico! From the cute decor, bilingual staff, and most importantly delicious food!! They have all traditional dishes from Mexico: chilaquiles, molletes, café con sabor a Mazapán! We were very happy with our food, their coffee is delicious and the food comes out very fast. All the staff is attentive and knowledgeable, if it's your first time, they will make recommendations. The only problem I find here, is the parking. You have to park on sidewalk, or other streets, but don't let this discourage you, this restaurant is worth the hype!

The fence that said additional parking in the back so I parked in the back and their parking lot attendant still took my keys to move my car over 2 inches the. I had to go get my own car because he blocked me in with another car. The restaurant was very busy and loud. The food was mediocre. I got chorizo and it was dry. A meat that is typically rather oily was dry. The eggs were overcooked. I asked for cheese on my eggs, only addition to the plate, and they forgot it. The potatoes were good and the coconut coffee was good. Not somewhere I would go again.
If you wanna eat like you're at your suegras workout having to visit come here! The food was all delicious. We got the chicharrones, chicken sopes, the Cielito sandwich, and a cup of the sopa de letras. It was all amazing I can't recommended the sandwich enough. The place fits right into The Heights
Very comfortable place - went there for a late breakfast. Note that parking is a challenge - they have no parking so you need to park on the street (the lot next to the restaurant is not theirs). When we left, the restaurant was filled to capacity, but no one waiting. The restaurant is not large (maybe 15 tables). Service was very good - we started out with chips and salsa (they bring a variety with 4 types - the hot is very hot!). Also a Carmelo coffee and a regular coffee. Our breakfast came out quickly. We had the traditional breakfast with sausage and a flour tortilla (instead of bread) and the Tacos de Carnitas (hold the beans). Both very tasty with nice portions. We sat around for a few minutes after eating, but we thought that we should leave since the restaurant was filling up to capacity (they didn't ask us to leave). I'd definitely come back here.

Been wanting to check this spot out for awhile. I never seem to find parking so we took a long walk to visit. Wellllll worth it. There was a long line at 10am on a Sunday for indoor seating. We sat outside which was fine after our walk. we got my coffee fairly quick. The menudo came out first. I don't usually like it. But I even went back for a bit more of that broth. So good with a bit of a kick. I had the chilaquiles. Omg. It was some of my favorite. The green had a kick. The red had amazing flavor. The flavors were so good and worked so well together. My husband also had a breakfast taco with breakfast. The flour tortillas were so good. Yes of course wife tax. :) My latte was good. Just remember that mazapan is peanut if you have a nut allergy. read more

The Parking was terrible. The lot next to them says its only for the store across the street and there is a clear sign on the fence that says Additional Parking in back. We parked in the back yet the parking attendant came to the table and told us it was only for Valet. We said we followed what the sign said and he asked for the keys. We gave the key and he apparently moved are car so close to the truck next to us and parked another car on the other side so close my very small very skinny daughter had to pull the car out for us to even get in. But that was all after the attendant had to move 2 trucks out of our way. They were very packed so we were expecting a wait but we had none. That was nice but we were seated at a table tucked into a corner right next to the window where the kitchen hands the food out. So our whole visit the wait staff was reaching over me to get food and drinks to tables. The coffees were great, the eggs were hard, the sauces were great, the Chorizo was Mediocre, and the potatoes were great. I loved the decor but the place is so small so its very loud. I'm glad i visited but I wont be back. Maybe grab an iced coffee or an augua fresca to drink (they looked amazing and refreshing) if I'm in the area but wont go out of my way to visit. read more

When family came into town for our wedding, I wanted to take my cousin for some authentic Mexican breakfast. Cielito is such a vibe, offering food as good as their aesthetic. Yummmmmmmm. Probably my favorite brunch in Houston. Started with the cafe de coco which I will be thinking about for the next few mornings and the toqueres which were the perfect combination of sweetness from the corn combined with spice of the salsa. For mains I LOVED the cajeta toast. Definitely my favorite for when I'm in a sweet breakfreast mood. Also loved the divorciados and chilaquiles for a savory option. I also tried the molletes which were good but just didn't stand out when compared to the other delicious things I tried. There can be a wait but it moves pretty quickly and the thrift store next door is fun to look around in while you wait. I've been back a few times and will definitely continue to come back when in Houston. read more
My husband and I just visited Cielito Cafe for breakfast, the place is beautiful, cozy and welcoming. We got there around 10:30am the place was packed. They have breakfast and lunch options, also desserts and soft drinks. We ordered chilaquiles and huevos divorciados. The staff is very friendly, and the service was very quick. The chilaquiles were amazing, the tortillas chips were crispy, both red and green salsa are delicious, a little spicy, amazing beans, and the egg just I like it, everything topped with cotija cheese and crema, beautiful! The huevos divorciados are delightful as well, each egg served on top of a crunchy tortilla, with beans, avocado, queso fresco, chorizo and red salsa, everything I need for breakfast! One of my favorite spots , when I'm in town! Love their valet service, since parking could be a hassle. Once you entered you feel like home, very cozy and lovely decorative restaurant. Everything was pretty good. It's a cute converted house. Service was quick. Our waiter was nice. Our dishes did come out at different times and that wasn't ideal. The meat that comes with the chilaquiles was tasty but scarce for the price. The agua Frescas were so good. The chips and 4 salsas were good. The chips were a little too thick for my taste but crispy. Overall, I'd come back and try more dishes. read more

I've beeb wanting to try this place 3 different times i went to houston and the line is always crazy. Welp, 4x times a charm bc I was able finally able to try it. I must say, I see why the line is longer than life. It's a very small, homey feeling, cute restaurant. Once we got seated to our table our server immediately approached us and took our order. We ordered a little of everything. The food was so fresh , authentic, tasty, and made with love. This is a place where u should get there early or try on the weekdays. Its def worth the wait. This is someone's house that basically turned into a small-restaurant. Expect a very limited parking lot and you might have to park far before walking over. There are seats inside and outside to enjoy the weather, be prepare to WAIT IN LINESSSS if you come a bit late for the breakfast/brunch/lunch rush. Very loud inside as well, might be overstimulating to those who are just looking for a quiet spot. My partner and I sat at the bar - service was fast & efficient. Water & menu & chips & salsa all came out immediately. I got the Divorciados - 3/5 and it was just okay, way too salty that I had to keep refilling the Agua Fresca, BUT that's just my personal preference and I'm sure this could be someone else's favorite dish - it's just not mine. read more

Omg!!! Amazing cute space in heaven! The positive vibe and the beautiful smiles and politeness surpassed my expectations! The wait was not more than 20min but after eating here? I would wait.. all worth the wait!! The casita inside has lots of sitting area but they make it work, you don't feel overwhelmed! They serve tables so smoothly! You don't see anyone bumping into anyone, not even when you are being seated at your table! The food looked amazing! We kept looking over everyone's tables lol because every plate looked amazing!! We couldn't make up our minds but finally decided for the red chilaquiles with chorizo, menudo, rolled chicken tacos, chicken sopes and caramel French toast!! Oh and drinks, couldn't pass on the hot coconut coffee with coconut shaving which was slightly burnt and smoky yummm, the Carmel ice drink which came with a caramel Mexican lollipop and if you tried the lollipop in Mexico? Ice drink taste exactly the same!!! and fresh orange juice just perfect! The red chilaquiles with the chorizo and sunny side up eggs were savory, just enough spice to enjoy every bite! The smokiness in the red sauce was amazing! Mexico in every bite! The menudo had some spice but was perfectly seasoned and savory, the pork was soft and well cooked! Not greasy and not that pork smell you get at other places. It was accompanied by corn tortillas which looked and tasted handmade! Not sure if they were but they were just a great addition!! The sopes with the chicken breast shredded over each sope, crunchy purple and white cole slaw and the black beans!! With a splash of sour cream and queso fresco had me in every bite! I enjoyed the entire dish!!! The red salsa was spicy and green salsa was just perfect to add to your sopes!! The chicken rolled tacos were crunchy but not hard to bite which is great for our gums lol. The rolled tacos sit on a bed of green salsa and had some spice but the savory chicken inside was just perfect We also ordered the caramel French toast to share! The bacon bits over the French toast were savory and sweet! The French toast was soft and fluffy and had the right amount of cinnamon! We all loved every bite!! Met the owner and had a good talk about his and his wives café and honestly it's beautiful to see dreams come true and have such a beautiful vibe! Came in on a Friday around 1pm. They were still surprisingly busy for a week day. Had we not opted to sit outside we would have been waiting quite a while for a table. We ordered right away, I had an agua fresca and chilaquiles verdes with chicken and my friend had a green juice and enchiladas michoacanas. The food is fantastic. Hands down. It's comparable to the food my mom makes at home and the restaurant I've tried in Mexico. My chilaquiles were spicy and flavorful. My friend really liked her enchiladas and I can agree that they were fantastic. This is truly an authentic Mexican restaurant. The only downside is how busy it is and how crowded it gets because it's such a small space. Just walking inside is a bit claustrophobic. Parking also isn't the best. Besides that, I'll definitely be back just not during the weekend. read more
Went here on a Tuesday for brunch and got the Divorciados and a café de olla. The divoriciados were basically the elements and flavors of a chilaquiles with less tortilla chips, and as a fan of chilaquiles I enjoyed it. The salsas were very flavorful and I liked how they had a mix of green and red salsa. The only downside is that the portion is quite small. (6.5/10) The café de olla was earthy with a slight sweetness, but it did taste a bit watered down compared to others that I've tried. (5/10) Overall the café is super cute and perfect for a girls brunch, but the parking is a challenge especially on weekends when it is more crowded. The food tastes good and the service was quick. I would recommend going during the week to avoid the line and outdoor wait. read more

I recently visited Cielito Cafe for brunch and ordered the chilaquiles, and it did not disappoint! This was a very filling plate, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a hearty brunch option. I opted for the green sauce, but be warned--if you have a low spice tolerance, this one is extremely spicy! The dish also came with an egg, which added a nice touch. However, I do want to mention that the wait for our food was quite long, so be prepared for that. They do have both inside and outside seating, which is nice to pick from. read more

The food is delicious!! The place is pretty tiny, and gets full fast. They don't have a parking lot, you have to drive around and hope to find a spot on the street. The music inside is loud and hard to have a conversation. I will keep going back for that cafe de coco! Also, I will make sure to ask for an outside table as I prefer a quieter atmosphere. read more

I came across this place on TikTok so I had to try it. It's such a cute little restaurant. It has a real authentic Mexican flavor. I got a coconut iced latte and it was so freaking good. The Chilaquiles are real good. The service is good as well. The only downside from this location is that the parking is terrible. There is a guy there that offers to park your car for you, but I don't really trust people driving my car. read more

Glad to see that after 4 years and again for my birthday, the authentic home style feel of Mexican flavor that is Cielito Cafe, has sustained the trials of time and is busier than my first time here. Nowadays they have troves of people waiting especially on the weekends for breakfast and brunch and for great reason, their consistent friendly service, delicious food offerings and intimate ambiance make it an enjoyable visit. While the parking is a bit tricky, mostly street Monday thru Saturday, Sunday is a bit easier with the parking lot that belongs to the business next to it, (signs says "No Restaurant Parking") I checked and Sunday's are an exception. So you can eat peacefully without the fear of getting a citation or worse, towed. Wish there were more convenient parking offerings around town. Cielito doesn't take reservations on the weekends but you can put your name on the waitlist to have a table. They offer both inside and outside seating. As mentioned it is intimate inside so you are within close proximity to others and each other. Everyone from the hostess, waitress and servers were friendly and attentive. While we waited to be called, we were offered water. The ice in one of the cups had some green in it, looked like lettuce and skipped drinking it. I'm sure they would've gotten us another one, but weren't too bothered to as for another. Once inside, as well as people waiting outside showed it was a full house. We sat down in the back by the kitchen in a nice corner where got to see everything. Everyone interacting and working as a team. On to the real reason you're reading, the affordable food and drinks! Just FYI this is a restaurant where you'll find that the strongest pour is their coffee. Started with Cafe de Coco (non-dairy) - and let me tell you, the way it smoothly and velvety just makes you want to chug it in one gulp, a delightful treat, almost like dessert before you have your meal. For my meal, last time I got the Bandera, I was feeling a little rebellious from the traditional and got the Chilaquiles with red homemade sauce and added chorizo to it. Let's just say being rebellious sometimes pays off, so much so that my mom kept eyeing my plate after I gave her some to try. Mixed with it's avocado, onion, radish, egg (I got mine scrambled) and black beans paired with the fried chips and chorizo and a kick from the red sauce just elevated and balanced the fresh and savory flavors with each bite. Please do not change anything about this plate. (The chorizo is extra, I wanted some type of protein. You can add, bacon or sausage if you want.) If you haven't had the pleasure of enjoying Cielito Cafe, do yourself a favor and stop by, early and with some patience if you're coming on the weekends. They also offer carry out if you're not wanting to wait to dine. I also heard they opened a new location and though I enjoy the original, I will make plans at some point to check the new one out. Besides the long wait and hair found in my food, I received a new plate after telling our waitress that this place was solid. Everything came out very fresh and prompt. The green juice was also a favorite of mine--fresh and hydrating. The chilaquiles were just a tad bit spicy with the salsa verde. My husband enjoyed his menudo, and I have no complaints about the kid's pancake breakfast. Cielito Cafe was very quaint and cozy. read more

What a wonderful place to have breakfast if you're in the area. Went with their two eggs and French toast truly something you need to try. Staff and waitress was very accommodating and very nice overall atmosphere was amazing super packed since they're only open for a few hours. Definitely would recommend this place for morning breakfast their green juice, super healthy, and super light. All staff was really nice, including the valet. I love the fact that they turned this house into a small restaurant if you're in the area definitely give it a shot. read more

Yes. There is at least one dish with the GF designation, but it seems a few dishes are available with minimal changes to make GF. Just ask the server.
