I adored Cielito Cafe! This is quite a cute brunch/lunch spot to enjoy with your girls, family, or even on a cute date. I ordered the tres quesadillas azules with chicken, and my was this delicious! The cheese especially was very rich. They provide two sauces with your food as well, and please be warned that the orange sauce is very spicy! (I did enjoy this one the most with my food however) . I will have to return to try their agua frescas and their guacamole. My only qualm, as I see mentioned in other reviews, would be that the parking can be tough especially during busier hours for this establishment. Came here on a Friday morning for breakfast and it was pretty crowded, but there were still a few empty tables-- shows how popular this spot it's! I got the cafe de coco, which was DELICIOUS! Also got the divorciados which were REALLY good- the chorizo and salsas were super flavorful. I asked for a side of homemade hot salsa which was definitely HOT but so good. I recently visited this restaurant. Starting with parking , it is rather difficult to find a spot and not get towed. Restaurant space is rather small therefore the waiting is long, so get ready to wait 30+ minutes. Once you get seated services feels rushed. We ordered our drinks, our appetizer and entrees at the same time. My entree came out before my appetizer and my partners entree. My meal was had with an empty glass of water and was only refilled once with room temp. water . I am completely impressed with this place, from the moment you walk in they make you feel welcome with a very energetic greeting. You can tell they really try their best to make their guest feel welcomed. The server was super friendly and did not rush me at all when I asked for extra time to look at the menu as I was indecisive about what I wanted. He took my order with a smile when I finally decided what I wanted. I have to say, the food is very very fresh and it tastes delicious. In a city with nothing but Tex Mex it is nice to find a spot like this one, where you can find Mex with minimal Tex. The chilaquiles were super tasty, the sauce had a kick to it but was super good as well. You can also substitute the egg for egg whites (for an upcharge) which I believe is a very cool option to offer. Hi all! Honest review here. I came here with cousins to enjoy brunch. I had to do 6 laps around the restaurant to find parking. There is a parking lot next to the house/restaurant, but it is not owned by them. They will tow your car if you park there. You have to find street parking. I found a parking spot across the street and had to walk 5-10 min to get there. Once we arrived we had to wait about 30-45 minutes since there was a long wait. There was outdoor seating, but during the Texas summer, it is highly not recommended for those that get overheated easily. We waited until they called our name, and we waited at the table about 20-25 minutes until they came to take our beverage order. After ordering our drinks, they also took another 25 minutes to bring the drinks. After 20 minutes they came back to get the order. We received the food, and it was alright. Nothing amazing, but the presentation was good. Keep in mind this is a very small place, and you will be literally squished like sardines. We were seated next to the entry door and the waiter bumped my chair almost making the food fall on me, that was on the table. It was very busy and the waitress came back to just put the bill in the middle of the table. I went to go pay the bill and the cashier was rude! She snatched out receipts, and I gave her cash, she did not give me the correct change. I was upset and just decided to leave. So I wouldn't recommend this place because I'm sure I can find another place that actually cares about their customers. read more

Came here for breakfast and thought the spot was very cute. It's incredibly annoying that the large parking lot directly next to Cielito is no restaurant parking, but that's not their fault. The inside is warm and cozy and I thought that the service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the Avena (oatmeal) and my husband had the Divorciados. This is my second time here. Both times, the wait has been more than forty-five minutes but it's been worth it thus far. Both times have been on a Sunday morning so not sure how busy they are during the week. My biggest complaint is they do not serve handmade flour tortillas. They do have really good chilaquiles. After seeing all the hype on social media, I finally made it in on my second attempt! My first try was on a weekend, but the wait time was over two hours. The establishment itself is cute, and we ordered the regular chilaquiles and the divorciados. Both dishes were fantastic--the flavors were spot on, and the presentation was beautiful. Definitely worth the wait and the price. That said, there are a couple of things I didn't like. The space is super tight, with tables so close together that I ended up overhearing someone else's entire conversation, haha! There is some covered outdoor seating out front, good on a spring/fall/winter day. The cafe aesthetic is very cute. Cielo like the name, very light, welcoming. It is a little loud especially in a cozy space. But the food was excellent. I had the standard Traditional eggs, chorizo, papas y tortilla con salsa. My girlfriend had the Tostada Tinga which also looked amazing, and to which she reported was very tasteful. We arrived around 1045 and left roughly before noon. This cafe is bustling, so if you're looking for quiet and intimate, for a party more than 2 or 3, it might not be your spot. But don't let that stop you as the food was amazing. I have no photos because I failed to charge my phone, but the photos I have seen online are pretty accurate! I would go with 4 stars because of parking and noise, but the food, service, and staff were amazing. Buen provecho! read more

This experience was okay. The last time we came, the French toast knocked it out of the park. This time, we tried more of the menu, and it was just fine. Coming early to the cafe meant we didn't have a long wait, which we were happy with. However, I've often seen lines and groups of customers waiting around for some time before getting a spot. I don't mind that the space is small or that it's full - but just be aware that you may have to wait a little at peak hours, outside in the heat. I didn't feel that my molletes breakfast had a balance of flavor. The chorizo tasted bitter and salty, and the toast was soft. I think it would have been better with a crisper toast (so it wasn't all mushy) and with some lime (to counter the saltiness and fattiness). My eggs were cooked perfectly! However, because the molletes were already fatty and salty, the eggs made it nearly inedible - it was better without them though, so I took them off. The churros we really loved, and I thought the cafe de coco drink was super nice - this place does sweet really well. I would recommend the sweet side of the menu moreso than the rest. read more

You either have to go on a weekday or right when they open on the weekends to avoid the wait. Every single time that I go here, I order the same thing - chilaquiles and cafe de coco! I chose this place for brunch while visiting my beautiful home city m, H Town! I arrived before my friend and out us on the waitlist. They operate off writing your name on paper and they call your name outside so you may be forced to stand in the elements for your table. We went on a Sunday and the parking lot next door may belong to a business across the street other days of the week? Even then, the lot was full no matter what so luckily I got a space to sit in the car and check our name on the list but parking can be difficult, be prepared! Once we got our table, the inside is very intimate, I found it charming. From our table, I could see the kitchen. Our server was impatient and seemed annoyed we didn't decide fast enough, never refilled our waters, and forgot parts of our meal. That was single handedly the element that tainted some of our experience. I overall enjoyed my food, I was torn between something sweet or savory. I got the Cajeta toast and felt like the serving was perfect. Not too much, not too little and the toast was so good. I would come back again but the waitlist situation could be revised in light that many restaurant do electronic notifications. If one plans to bring someone elderly or disabled, be prepared. We came at around 11 and it was pretty busy. We waited about 25 minutes for an outside table. The food came out quickly. The coffee was too sweet but not horrible. The omelette was drenched in green salsa and had more cheese than expected. At one point the eggs didn't taste like eggs. The diced potatoes didn't have much flavor. However, if you are going on the weekend it can be a long wait, and it's hot out there right now! They don't allow reservations on the weekend so we showed up and put our names on a list, but we learned they had call ahead (not listed on the website) so there were a lot of people not waiting outside on the list before us. Our quoted wait time of 20 minutes was over an hour. Additionally, since there are a lot of people coming in and out, there is a push for you to eat and get out. Went on Wednesday morning. Cielito cafe is located in the Montrose area. It is definitely hard to find a park because there is no designated parking space for Cielito Cafe other than available street parking near by. My wife order turkey sausage tacos & i ordered pork sausage tacos. The order took awhile to come out but eventually came out. On our breakfast tacos it was no specification of which one was turkey sausage & which was pork sausage. My wife and I both ate our tacos & tasted each others & they were both pork sausage tacos. My wife cannot eat pork so I went inside to get tell the cashier lady I forgot her name but I believe her name was Mariana. I let her know what happened & she did not argue with me about which one was which but gave me my refund and told me I could keep the food. She only charged me for the lemonade cucumber drink which was so refreshing. The food tasted good though ! The breakfast tacos were fresh, real eggs, homemade tortillas, & fresh sausage (pork). The orange sauce was a great addition as well, it had a bit of spice to it, but nothing overbearing if your not a spice person. The fruit was fresh and the refried black beans were super fresh and refried to perfection. For me the lemonade cucumber drink was the highlight! I might be biased because I love fused drinks. Definitely DO NOT RECC going on a Sunday. This was my second time visiting and it was just the complete opposite experience as my first time. I was quoted 40 mins and waited over an hour before I finally decided to just leave. We are forced to wait outside in the heat and they wouldn't even offer to give a call when ready for us so we can sit in the air conditioner. They also have a check mark system- where if you check in with the hostess you get another check mark. I've been wanting to try this place for so long and so happy I finally did it! There is usually a big wait but we came around 10 am and the wait was pretty short. It looked like people started waiting a while around 11:30 ish/12. The ambiance is cozy - whether outside or inside. There were some flies outside but they accommodated us with fans which really helped them to stay away. The service was overall a bit slower - so come here if you are not in a rush/can savor and take your time with your meal! Although a bit slower, the workers are all very sweet and nice! The food was great as well! I got sopes with a side of potatoes and really enjoyed both red and green sauces to go with it. The red sauce has a good kick! The cajeta toast was also so delicious. I truly had higher hopes for this spot. Despite of the numerous recommendations for this restaurant. I do want to start off that the parking is horrible. There was no wait time which was great sat inside and greeted right away. Our drink order was taken and appetizer. I wanted their agua fresca of the day and a caramelo (Iced coffee). They ran out of their agua so went in for a Mexican coke. Caramelo was super watered down, no flavor whatsoever. Maybe next time that I give this restaurant another try, I'd have to swing by earlier. Moving on to the appetizer, we got their Chicharrones. Probably the best thing I had there. Fresh out the grease and great crunch to them. Definitely a 10/10. Entrees; Pambazo, first time trying it. I think overall it was super good added chorizo to it. I personally would not get it with chorizo again it was a little salty for my likings. Tres quesadillas azules, we got one of chicken tinga, chicharrón, and chorizo. Out of all three the chicharrón had the best flavor. Chicharrón was in salsa verde and the tortillas were amazing. Now for the tings & chorizo it was okay. Not a fan of tinga as is but didn't lack flavor. I think the chorizo was just overall salty. Enchiladas Michoacánas, this dish was standard. Good flavor but it was cold. I couldn't enjoy it fully. I want to try this spot again like I stated earlier, maybe at an earlier time. Parking, oh well not much you can do about that. The staff were nice, they did check in before closing the kitchen down if we wanted to order more food. Inside is cute and tiny, nothing special. This morning, we visited Celito Café and absolutely enjoyed our meals. I had the blue tortilla quesadilla with chicharrón, and it was amazing! My husband had the menudo, and aside from the great taste, I really appreciated that the meat was cut into smaller pieces--just like I do at home so my kids don't struggle. That alone deserves five stars! The chilaquiles were packed with flavor and spice--so much so that my daughter eventually said she was just burning her mouth, lol. Lovely little trip down memory lane coming here to Cielito Cafe. Reminded me of going to my Tía's restaurant as a kid in the 90's. The converted heritage home on Dunlavy does give you the family feeling when you sit down in what used to be someone's living room. The service was quite quick, as I assume they need to turn tables over quickly since there is very little to no parking for them. It's maybe the one downside, but if you're familiar with the area you kinda expect it. Food was very much what you'd expect from a home cook, and I mean that in a good way. It's the breakfast dishes you grew up with in a Mexican family. There are a good bit of options from heavy to light and savory to sweet. chilaquiles were great and I liked the toastada de aguacate. The restaurant has a cute, homey feel and the owner is such a sweetheart! We ordered the Huevos Divorciados, Cajeta Toast, Sopes, and Cafe de Coco. I don't normally order drinks, but I noticed everyone was getting it, and it did not disappoint! The Cajeta Toast was cutely played and had a great Mexican style of sweetness to it.
