We love Jackie's kitchen and have been many times. It's got that classic breakfast diner feel with reasonable prices. We have enjoyed classic plates, crepes, international dishes and all types of breakfast and brunch options. We always get breakfast, but they have some fun options we hope to soon try like chicken and dumplings on Mondays and pho on Wednesdays. My flexitarian friend loves country food. Occasionally, I noticed the sign outside the restaurant. I hadn't been inside since the new owners took over because it was filthy under the old management. I will not every support this establishment. I sat down in the back, because they save they booth are for more than one person early morning. My server was Thai D. It should be told that if you ask for a water in a Paper cup they charge you $0.79 cents. I don't like drinking water out a plastic cup. It tastes different and them cups are not always as clean. $3.99 for one cup of coffee. The food is bland(basic), the bacon always has a greasy grill taste. Not fresh at all, they cook up a lot of bacon early that morning then put it back on grilled, then it becomes greasy. I had to ask several times for a refill on my water and coffee. Once they take your plates they hurry up and rush you out the door. It wasn't crowded nor did they have people waiting in line to sit down to eat. The young lady ask me 2 times was I ready to go and pay my bill. Wow I cant even sit and enjoy the rest of my coffee after eating that greasy food. She only hires Hispanic women, and women who of her culture Chinese, or Vietnamese, Japanese, and or Korean which Ms. Jackie is one of them. The inside is very clean and busy, but plenty of room to move around and for servers to bring food and refill coffee and drinks. You'll likely find something you like. The only thing I didn't like was that tip was included in the bill. We didn't realize and tipped on top of that. The only thing better would be some diced not yet ripped tomatoes and mild sauce packet, or do we not want to go back to that? And did i mention she makes pho at noon on wedsdays? It is phonomenal! Some items were served slightly warm and the food was bland. Even though I have driven by this restaurant for many years, it was just last weekend when I stopped by to eat. It was on Saturday for lunch and when I walked in at noon there were 4 other diners. The restaurant has its own parking lot and inside it does have a diner feel to it. There is the main dining area consisting of booths on the left and then another room on the right with tables and chairs. I sat on the left in a booth and after looking at the menu went with the pot roast entree with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans for the sides. To begin with the meal also came with a soup or salad and I ordered the potato soup. The soup arrived in less than 5 minutes and it was very good in taste with cheese on top. It wasn't soupy and more thicker than normal but I still enjoyed it. The entree arrived about 10 minutes later along with some bread. The mashed potatoes made me think they might be instant and the brown gravy was definitely instant out of a pack with hot water added. The green beans needed some seasoning and maybe a little bacon grease. They were too uninspiring in my opinion. The pot roast was shredded and basic in taste. Nothing on this plate stood out and the potato soup was the best part. At best I would give the meal a 3. My table service was very good and the tab with an ice tea and tax and tip was $17 and change. In my opinion, way too much for what I received. This is a breakfast/lunch place open from 6 am to 4 pm. and the menu is heavier with breakfast foods than lunch however they do offer meatloaf, burgers, fried fish, sandwiches, meatloaf, etc. I am tempted to give a 2 score for my lunch and it's cost but I won't. That's because I will give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that the breakfast food is better. They have been in business for a long time and can't be that bad. Food was good. And service was generally ok except that they got my order wrong and wouldn't take any responsibility for it. I ordered the international burrito which is stuffed with eggs, hash browns and onions and topped with salsa and cheese. It also says on the menu "served with two buttermilk pancakes". There is no mention of allowing substitutions. The waitress said "hash browns are included is that ok" to which I replied "yes" because the menu says it has hash browns in the burrito. And I want whatever is in it. However, I later found out it that what the waitress really meant by saying that is "are you ok if we substitute a side of hash browns for the two buttermilk pancakes that are supposed to come with your meal". To which my answer would have been "absolutely not, I picked it because I wanted to try your famous pancakes". I mean heck they even sell a shirt touting their pancakes. When I told the waitress this she just kept arguing with me saying I authorized the hash brown substitution "I asked you and you said you wanted hash browns". Ridiculous. After back and forth a couple minutes she finally said with a scowl on her face (probably capitulating just to end the argument) that she could see my point of view. But too bad. I never got to try their pancakes because of their mix up. Lame. Lame. And double lame. I won't go back because of that customer service actually. It makes or breaks the experience. I still gave her 15+% tip off the pretax total, because until that point her attitude was good. My family and I are huge breakfast and brunch fans. A little history for appreciation of this place. This restaurant used to be an IHOP but one of the employees bought this establishment and it became Jackie's. The familt style restaurant is not commercially large but its just enough space to accommodate folks and get that diner feeling which my kids and I love. You can see Jackie hands on. The staff is pleasant and very welcoming. The food is amazingly delicious. Between the waitresses and the kitchen staff, your food comes out timely. Everything we ordered was scrumptious. I'm more of a french toast gal but i would get the pancakes next time - they were buttery, light/fluffy and delicious. When it's time to close, I totally get the fact that employees want to go home, but come on. I showed up at 3:40 PM and the place closes at 4. My wife and I wanted to grab some coffee and get my son some dessert. AFTER I got my son out of his car seat and started walking in, an employee walked out of the front door and she said that they were about to close. So much for the accommodation or even asking us if we wanted to grab something quick. We would have been in and out in less than the remaining business hours.
