After hearing non stop great things about Credence from friends and on social media, we finally went for dinner the other night to celebrate my birthday with some friends. The dining room is chic and feels very upscale but comfortable with a large open fire kitchen that was really fun to watch while dining. They were very on top of service with both our dining captain and waiter checking on us throughout the evening. For appetizers we ordered the deviled crabs, tuna tostada and wood roasted carrots. All were great but I especially loved the carrots which were cooked and seasoned perfectly. For my main course I had the chicken and dumplings, husband got the NY strip, our friends shared the whole fish and we had the cabbage and crab rice as sides. Everyone was very happy with both their main courses and the side dishes. We were too stuffed to order dessert but they sent out a s'mores inspired sunday for my birthday which was both thoughtful and sublime. Overall we were very impressed with our meal. Made a reservation on Open Table and noted that it was our anniversary, so we were gifted a couple of glasses of champagne. We were greeted by three different people - one that took our drink order, one that cleared our plates, and one that took our order. All were very nice people and gave excellent service! I forgot their names unfortunately. My receipt said Zachary but not sure which waiter that was. Between me and hubs, we had a Pan de campo, an order of Gulf Oysters "casino", (4) dressed oysters, a 16 oz dry aged ribeye, a snapper entree and a side of crab fried rice. We finished almost everything except a quarter of the Pan, about a quarter of the rice, and about a third of the ribeye. All were great dishes and would definitely order again. We skipped dessert because honestly none stood out to us. He said their popular dessert is the souffle but they were sold out. Our total before gratuity was about $250 and that included one cocktail. I was influenced. Credence has a really nice aesthetic. I went for my birthday brunch and it was pretty slow because there was a freeze warning . But our service was pretty slow despite that. Our server was nice and polite but not super attentive during a time that seemed pretty slow. The deviled crabs weren't what I expected but were pretty good. Kind of like a non baked crab salad or something topped with a light sauce. I really enjoyed the burger and fries I had. The other things I tried from friends were lacking flavor. The stuffed potatoes weren't seasoned, the stuffed beignet donuts didn't really taste like anything. Overall, the rest of my group wasn't satisfied. There was valet parking and other parking near by. Overall, it was an okay experience. I would consider going back for happy hour and getting the burger again. But we weren't super impressed... So I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

We came here for drinks after having dinner somewhere else. So we sat on the bar area. This place is well decorated. In the bar areas you have a choice of casual seating that includes chairs and a sofa or traditional bar seating. The service was great. Our server was knowledgeable and was able to recommend drinks that were spot on. The drinks were delicious and they use quality top shelf liquor which is a plus. Stoped in for a birthday dinner. The service was stellar. it's such a cute place. They have valet and self parking. Appetizer went really well with the deviled crab and the monkey bread. The fish was as good however my steak came out under. I actually was going to take it and just cook more later but one of the managers was nice enough to make a new one. it's made on a grill so the sear or char you may be looking for wasn't here for me. Two out of three of my sides came out room temp but the flavor was there! The roasted carrots are good! The potatoes are also good. i would still come back to give it another go. Great ambience and good food in the Memorial area! They are focused on making Texas focused foods using live-fire preparations, which makes for great food. Definitely make reservations, because this place gets busy. Here's what we got: Monkey bread - 4/5 - it's buttery bread, so it's tough to not like it, but we honestly expected a bit more from it. It tasted like a basic roll. We got it with the trout roe, which I don't know if it's worth it. Tuna tartare - 5/5 - this was great! I love the crispy rice, and had a spicy kick. Heritage half chicken - 5/5 - very flavorful and juicy. Hearth roasted whole fish - 5/5 - this was delicious! Lemony, garlicky, dill-forward - all my favorite flavors! We literally came here this night to try the duck, as my cohorts had already been here before. Alas, they were already out for the night at 7pm. Though disappointed in the news we pivoted and found some alternatives to satisfy us. Drinks- all great all night. Apps- monkey bread with that crack butter. We also used it to sop up the tomato butter on the deviled crabs, which is also a delicious dish packed with lump crab meat. We also got the beet salad for some freshness- which was just fine. I tried the flatiron and we were all impressed with how tender this meat was! The snapper is also very well done, and I might have even enjoyed the blistered beans/snap peas more (they have the Smokey wood fired taste). Really enjoyed my time here. We came for my friend's Bachelorette dinner. We got soaked coming in from the garage and the guy gave me a napkin to dry off. My cocktail was good and I like that they let you pick the Spirit for the expresso martini. My pregnant friend said the mocktail she got was one of the best she's had. The monkey bread and deviled crabs are must try apps. I was disappointed because the entree i saw on the online menu and planned on getting was not on the menu when I got there. Excellent service by our waiter/host. Attentive, respectful and eager to make anything right if it was not to our liking. The drinks were boozy, and nice. I really enjoyed the deviled crabs, and raw oysters selection. The fried pork chop was delicious and did not come with the basic "apple sauce" as done at other places. The fish was flaky, and juicy. The vegetables could have been cooked less to retain the crunch and colour because the snap peas looked like the life was wrung out off them. Our host/waiter asked very politely if I wanted a redo, but I politely declined. So I appreciated the offer and service! I love going out to eat with a bunch of women because sometimes y'all decide to just order half the menu so you can all try a little bit of everything! We ladies met on a Saturday for brunch. Abby was our server very knowledgeable. She helped us navigate to some of the must tries on the menu. We started with the monkey bread and devil crab boy was that decadent and a real treat. For mains, we had a seizure, salad with shrimp, roasted beef salad, the heritage chicken, country and pimento cheese, grits, and the crab fried rice. Everything shined. The heritage chicken melted in your mouth and cornbread gnocchi was as good as it sounds. I love cheese grits. I like pimento cheese. Mixing the two together unlocked a whole new craving for me! The biscuits were spectacular. Not usually a fan of beet salads, but everything in the salad complemented each other. The Caesar was unique and well done. They only miss for me was the cinnamon roll. I don't like cream cheese icing so I was excited to know this one was a sugar icing, but after taking one bite, I didn't need more. I just didn't do it for me. Amazing experience with even better food! I stopped by on a whim. Thankfully I was able to get a seat at the Chef's bar. Everything here at Credence is Top Tier; from the welcome champagne to everything on their menu! The ambiance is incredible, it is a great place to take your significant other, or your group of friends. I do recommend placing a reservation as the wait time for groups larger than 1 & 2 were close to 45 minutes, stretching to an hour. If you do get a table, you will not be disappointed. Service can make or break a place. I don't know that we would come back here based on our recent service experience but most of the food was quite good. The deviled crab appetizer was amazing. The Caesar salad is a little too bitter. The snapper and half chicken entrées were good. We made a reservation and we were seated at a table facing the bar. It was very loud and we were disappointed to see that there was a lot of space in the main dining room. Our waiter started off strong, greeted us and gave us information about the menu but as an evening went on, drinks went unfiled, he was nowhere to be found. We would see him chatting with other tables but he would never come by. Overall the food was solid, my dinner companions I went with loved the cocktail they had and were surprised that they were not offered one, that seems like a misstep by the restaurant. I came here for a friend's birthday dinner and this place is a 10/10! It was kind of confusing to find at first, because the building looks like an office building from the outside. Credence is located across from an Italian restaurant called Ciro's. They do have free garage parking or valet for free with a tip. When you walk in you are greeted with smiling faces and friendly hostesses. The restaurant decor is luxurious and cohesive. The dining room decor carries over to the individual unisex restrooms. Credence's interior decorator(s) did an amazing job. Once seated the service began and I must say it was the best customer service. When I say everyone helped our table, I mean everyone. People such as 3 managers and several waiters. Our water glasses were never empty. Waiters were constantly removing excess dishes and glasses from the table. Waiters and managers continued to ask us, how is the food and if we needed anything. Unique features I enjoyed continued to elevate my experience are as follows. Waiters provided oshibori's after our orders were taken. I loved this small and intentional touch to our experience. If you have leftovers, waiters box your meal up and leave it with the hostess. You are given a locker key with a number on it. When you're ready to leave, you return the locker key to the hostess and they provide your leftover bag. Again, this was another intentional and thoughtful feature many places do not consider or implement. I loved this feature, because it kept the table free for us to continue to talk without obstructed pathways and views. Our waiters were Zachary and Chris. However, Chris was the main waiter and he was everything and more. He was attentive, friendly, helpful, and funny. He shared that he has worked in the hospitality business for 10 plus years. We made reservations for Saturday night, they have valet parking out front. We were seated instantly in the beautiful patio area. We ordered the roasted gild oysters and the devil crab. So details..... the parking is valet, which I love. They are tips only which I don't like sometimes because what if someone decides to give the valet nothing or $1or$2, that's how they make their money. I digress... The esthetics of the outside going into the inside is just stunning. Whoever did interior design once you walk in is a genius. It's very charming and inviting-the way I like my men. Love! We were sat in a half booth, half table situation, which was cute. We had two waiters as one was in training. They were excellent! Great service, great attention to details, and great recommendations! We started off with the savory monkey bread with garlic butter. The garlic butter had a green tint so maybe pesto was involved but it was good. While I typically am not thrilled with paying for bread service (just up the prices of other items slightly and make me feel like you're giving me complimentary bread service) the rolls were fluffy and delish! We also had the smothered crab for an appetizer and it was oh so good! So delicious and decadent! My sister got the delicious Ribeye for her main with a Bordelaise sauce that lacked depth of flavor. It didn't reduce naturally so it was a bit too watery. She also ordered the crab fried rice to share with me and that rice was phenomenal! Phenomenal! It comes out in a dish with the crab fried rice alongside it is the kewpie mayo fortified with crab and shrimp stock. They mix it at the table for you. I would have loved to have it with some slivers of nori on it to bring out that delicious umami flavor but it was so yum. I ordered the half chicken with mushrooms and cornbread dumplings. Chef's kiss I tell ya! Chefs kiss! Chicken is usually the boring dish but my instincts told me to get it over a fish option. The chicken was so moist, well seasoned, juicy, and flavorful! Those cornbread dumplings were genius! They tasted so good! My sister had two tequila lemon drops which were so pretty and dainty- like her. I had a delicious grapefruit, blood orange, and rosemary mocktail with zero proof tequila. It was refreshing! Not sure i have ever head anything like that cornbread Gnocchi and the Tuna salad was sublime with great quality (rare) tuna and perfectly cooked beans I had the same wine i did last ice the Macon and also had a cocktail i forgot the name of, volvoda or something like that. I did not have the Oysters this time as they were honest enough to say that they were south of the cape (bay view) as opposed ot north last time (which i checked). It's a entertaining decanter by Spiegelau. Its design to showcases wine as it is being poured and while sitting on tabletops. Amazing way to improvise Chelsea. Although we arrived late for our 6:15 reservation, the staff were incredibly accommodating. Samantha graciously invited me to relax in the waiting area until my date arrived. (Eta:6:28) ((which was probably best since they sat a party of 50! Prior to our arrival)) Soon after, hostess Chelsea warmly welcomed us and promptly seated us. (6:30) She even brought out a vase with water for the flowers my date gifted me, such a thoughtful touch! She introduced us to our captain Todd, who took our order, and server Paul, who delivered each plate with care. CREDENCE set the F'ing bar HIGH AF. We started with the deviled crab, hands down my favorite dish of the night. Rich, flavorful, and unforgettable. We also shared the heirloom crab rice, which paired beautifully with my wild gulf snapper, (trout Rowe on the side), -1 which was left off completely but they later brought me some, after asking 3 people. My husband and I went to credence for date night dinner and it was amazing. I love the decorations and ambiance. The food was delicious. The monkey bread was so good as our appetizer. For entrees, we both got the wild gulf snapper and it was a show stopper for sure. I wanted to eat my whole entree but couldn't because I was full. It's very filling and a nice portion. I visited here a second time and this time made reservations so I could enjoy a full sized table and the main dining room. I tried different items on this visit including the devilled crabs, flat iron steak, monkey bread, barbecue gulf shrimp and the chocolate souffle. I also ordered the blue crab rice to go with the beef dish. Hits: devilled crab, monkey bread with smoked butter, flat iron steak, chocolate souffle Misses: gulf shrimp, blue crab fried rice. The gulf shrimp were small in quantity and came with a ton of gnocci which was okay. There was also not much of a "barbecue" flavor to them. The crab fried rice was too salty and maybe had too much soy sauce. Eddie V's crab fried rice is very hard to beat. Unfortunately the day I ordered the dark chocolate souffle, they had to substitute the ice cream for a biscotti gelato. That's an unfortunate substitution as I was really looking forward to the vanilla bean REAL ice cream. Two other issues that came up were the ordering process and the restrooms. The table had 2 different servers taking orders throughout the meal and they came to the table at different times and couldn't keep track of which dishes we had ordered so far, and which we hadn't...so they had to ask. This is kind of inexcusable for such a fine dining restaurant. The second and maybe most important issue was the unisex restrooms. When my dining companion decided to use the restroom toward the end of the meal, she found the toilet seat left in the up position and the toilet to be dirty from the previous customer. I chose this restaurant for my 29th birthday dinner and I'm so glad I did. We had a party of 4 and I really appreciate that we didn't have to wait to be seated until the whole party arrived. Our server was so kind and informative. We ordered our appetizers and drinks and the drinks came out immediately. I had looked at the menu in detail before so I knew what I wanted to order (oysters, monkey bread, deviled crab) and we also ordered lemon drops. For my appetizer, I ordered the snapper with mashed potatoes and it was also very delicious. For my birthday, they gave us all a glass of champagne which I thought was really classy and it was pretty delicious. I got my food to-go and it was very unique that they keep the boxes at the front and give you little keys to redeem your respective food. This place was featured in some TikTok's and the comments were all very positive so I took the risk and it definitely paid off. This is my first time to visit a Michelin restaurant. Mid-century modern decor, vaulted ceilings and an open kitchen definitely create a bougie vibe. We were greeted quickly and our server knew the menu really well. We came for brunch. Still pretty early in the morning, we began with their coffee--lackluster, at best. Bitter and lukewarm. I suppose a cocktail would have been a better choice, but Dry January is in full swing. We ordered the brunch deviled eggs, country ham, and the half chicken as our main dish. The deviled egg can be an art form in an of itself. Theirs was more paint-by-numbers than art. The Benson country ham requires some caveats: 1. The country in question is far fancier than the southern ham we expected, but the prosciutto was no less on point. The farmers cheese had no flavor, but the tomato jam makes up for that a bit. The real delight of this dish was the biscuit: flaky and delightful. The great redeemer of this meal was the half chicken. Met some friends for dinner at Credence on a Friday night. This was my first visit here. I did not look at the menu before and did not know what to expect. I would describe their menu as Texas cuisine with the special focus of being prepared over an open flame. Many of the options are prepared this way. Our service was excellent and the staff are very knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations for us to try. I ordered the red snapper and while I thought I wasn't that hungry, the food was so good I finished my meal. I'm excited to check out their brunch on Saturdays or Sundays. Lovely dinner spot in Spring Branch! I was able to make reservations ahead of time and when we arrived, we were able to get seated right away. The interior decor was beautiful! With its high ceilings, modern decor and open concept kitchen. Background of Goodes brand. For drinks, I just ordered a classic margarita with Reposado and Tajin on the rim which they did a great job on. For starters, we got the Deviled Crabs (the smoky tomato butter was very tasty and paired well with the crab), Yellow Fin Tuna TareTare (had a qty of 4 pieces and the crispy rice had the nice crunch to it and the fish tasted fresh) and the Credence Caesar (loved all the extra shredded parmesan that was all over the top of the salad). For my main, I got the Pork Rib Chop Schnitzel (it was deff a shareable dish, crispy crust on the outside and the rib chop was moist). As additions, we got the Heirloom Blue Crab Rice (very flavorful/umami tasting), French Fry Service (truffly + parmesan cheesiness) and the Hearth-Roasted Cabbage with Lemon Chile Butter (probably wouldn't get this side again, it was okay). they have parking spaces in the garage, (that are reserved for the guest of credence) and they also have valet as well, that park in that same garage. the service is good, but they are booked out a lot of times, so booking a reservation is highly recommended. you can always call in, and see if anyone cancelled as well. we had the cornbread gnocchi - feels like you can't taste the truffle much, because the corn overpowers it, its veggie heavy. when it got to our table it wasn't hot, it was like lukewarm. leftovers were good hot though! hearth roasted whole fish - 10/10 - and they also pour this butter table side, and debone the fish as well. they do let you know the areas you may find bones. you know fish and their bones monkey bread - 10/10 - they recommend to get this other appetizer so you can mop up the flavor, but we didn't - we just got the butter it came with and added trout roe. we enjoyed it!
