Barbecue gulf shrimp
Lauri B.

9/11/2026: From the moment we walked through the doors, Credence delivered an extraordinary fine-dining experience that made my birthday celebration feel truly special. The level of hospitality here sets a gold standard for Houston--every detail was handled with impressive precision, grace, and genuine warmth. Upon seating, we were welcomed with a complimentary glass of champagne to sip on while we browsed the menu, setting a relaxed, celebratory tone right away. We were then presented with an exquisite chef's amuse-bouche--a pea croustade that offered a delicate, bright, and thoughtful start to the meal. For appetizers, the warm monkey bread is an absolute non-negotiable, and the stuffed crab shells were incredible--rich, decadent, and packed with flavor. For the main course, the BBQ Gulf shrimp were wonderfully seasoned, pairing seamlessly with a filet mignon cooked to absolute perfection and accompanied by tender, charred zucchini. To cap off an already flawless dinner, the kitchen surprised us with a complimentary birthday s'mores tart topped with toasted meringue--a delicious, memorable touch that showed true attention to detail. What truly elevated the entire evening, however, was the master-class hospitality. Our server, Zach, and his colleague operated with a level of posture and polish you rarely see anymore--standing attentively nearby with hands behind their backs, mirroring the kind of textbook fine-dining service taught in elite training programs. From those quiet, refined touches down to personally guiding guests toward the restroom, no detail was overlooked. To round out the night, we visited the hidden speakeasy right next door for drinks, which proved to be the ultimate conclusion to our evening. In a clever, seamless touch of hospitality, the staff hands you a heavy gold keychain stamped with your ticket number so you can conveniently collect your takeaway food after finishing your cocktails. (See separate review of Sidebar) It's those small, elevated details that make the seamless transition between the dining room and the speakeasy feel so effortless. Credence isn't just a meal; it's a complete, meticulously crafted experience. Highly recommended for any milestone occasion or whenever you simply want top-tier food paired with world-class service.

We finally dined at Credence to celebrate my husband and our friends birthdays. The restaurant is gorgeous and a great place to dine with friends and family. From the moment you get to the door the service is excellent. We were seated quickly and every staff member that we interacted with that night was very friendly. The food is delicious! Everything that we ordered was divine. We are already planning to go back to try other dishes.

Akaushi flat iron steak-- nicely cooked, bit of a chew but enjoyable and well seasoned

If you enjoy decadent food, Credence is the spot! The interior is refined but still welcoming and lively with Southern charm. Service was amazing-- we loved our waiter who was a combination of polite, funny, and knowledgeable, and everyone gave us a smile. All the dishes were beautifully presented and flavorful but definitely on the heavier side. - Beet salad (5/5)-- wow, never had a beet salad like this one before! So much flavor with a tanginess from vinegar sweetened by the blueberries and beets. The beets didn't taste very earthy (aka like dirt) compared to most beet salad. This was really well executed :) - Caesar salad (3.5/5)-- Credence's spin on Caesar, which according to my Caesar salad pro diner, didn't really taste like Caesar salad. Also very tangy and tart but the pro still enjoyed it as a salad dish. - Roasted cabbage (4/5)-- big fan of the way they roasted this, perfect tenderness without being cabbage mush! Definitely a heavy dish, especially for a vegetable option, as it was swimming in a butter cream sauce that started to congeal as it cooled off. Would choose this more as an indulgent appetizer rather than a healthy veggie option. I wonder if one could ask for the sauce on the side... - Tuna tostada (3.5/5)-- if you like strong flavors, this one packs a punch. The gochujang aioli beneath the tuna is really concentrated, making it difficult to taste the actual tuna. There's a bit of heat but thankfully I wouldn't say it was spicy. Fun to try. The tostada itself was very dense and almost a bit bread-y versus a crispy chip texture. - Crab fried rice (4/5)-- comes with lobster foam that is mixed table side and a generous amount of crabmeat lumps. The rice actually had a nice texture without being too... grainy / individualized, but it was too salty for me. - Akaushi Wagyu beef (4.5/5)-- loved the texture which was tender but with some chew (was expecting more of a melt-in-the-mouth texture though) and the veggies that it came with. It was heavily salted, too much so for me. Would've been perfect with less salt since there's already a chimichurri sauce with it. - Peanut butter tart (4.5/5)-- peanut butter lovers rejoice! The chocolate filling was rich, thick, and sweet which was complemented nicely with the whipped cream (not sweet at all). The peanut flavor really shined. The crust didn't have much of a taste by itself and was sandy in texture, not sure if on purpose or over-baked and dried out. Either way, the tart looked impressive when it arrived and was delectable-- my favorite bite of the night! Overall a nice experience! Although there was a mess up and the rest of our two salads and crab rice wasn't packed with our other food to take home; I was pretty sad about that since it was quite a bit of food (and $$). I might return for that peanut butter tart, but everything else was too heavy and too salty for me. I'm personally not a huge butter fan, but if you are, definitely make a reservation for a special occasion or date!

So happy I decided to choose this place to celebrate my birthday! From the beautiful atmosphere to the amazing, friendly service and well-balanced dishes, it was overall a wonderful experience. We were immediately greeted by the lovely hostess and escorted to our table. Our waitress, Alex, introduced herself with a beautiful smile and such a positive attitude. We were pretty undecided on several of our choices, but she was incredibly helpful with recommendations and reassured us that accommodations could be made for our allergies, which I really appreciated. We started with the oysters and burrata. The oysters had great flavor -- we honestly wished we had ordered more! The burrata was fresh and surprisingly full of flavor, and the fluffy garlic bread served alongside it was delicious. For our entrées, we ordered the Heritage Chicken, Red Snapper, and NY Strip. The Heritage Chicken was delicious! The cornbread gnocchi was the perfect combination of sweet and savory, and the chicken had just the right amount of smokiness. The sauce brought everything together beautifully. The Red Snapper was definitely the star of the show! This dish was truly perfection, and I can absolutely see why it's one of the most popular dishes. I'll definitely be coming back for this one regularly! The NY Strip, unfortunately, wasn't my favorite. It was over-charred on the outside and undercooked inside. I ordered it medium, but it came out closer to medium-rare and lacked the juiciness and flavor I was expecting. I was hesitant to send it back, but ultimately decided to, and replaced it with the lamb chops. That ended up being a much better decision! The chimichurri sauce really elevated the dish and gave it such a nice freshness. We also tried the Palomita and Mexican Fire Squad cocktails. Both were okay, but I'm excited to come back and explore more of the cocktail menu. Overall, such a lovely experience and a great place to celebrate a special occasion. The atmosphere, service, and food made for a memorable birthday, and I'm definitely looking forward to coming back and trying more!

After hearing non stop great things about Credence from friends and on social media, we finally went for dinner the other night to celebrate my birthday with some friends. The dining room is chic and feels very upscale but comfortable with a large open fire kitchen that was really fun to watch while dining. They were very on top of service with both our dining captain and waiter checking on us throughout the evening. For appetizers we ordered the deviled crabs, tuna tostada and wood roasted carrots. All were great but I especially loved the carrots which were cooked and seasoned perfectly. For my main course I had the chicken and dumplings, husband got the NY strip, our friends shared the whole fish and we had the cabbage and crab rice as sides. Everyone was very happy with both their main courses and the side dishes. We were too stuffed to order dessert but they sent out a s'mores inspired sunday for my birthday which was both thoughtful and sublime. Overall we were very impressed with our meal. Food was delicious but veeeery indulgent. We will be back.

Crab fried rice

Made a reservation on Open Table and noted that it was our anniversary, so we were gifted a couple of glasses of champagne. We were greeted by three different people - one that took our drink order, one that cleared our plates, and one that took our order. All were very nice people and gave excellent service! I forgot their names unfortunately. My receipt said Zachary but not sure which waiter that was. Between me and hubs, we had a Pan de campo, an order of Gulf Oysters "casino", (4) dressed oysters, a 16 oz dry aged ribeye, a snapper entree and a side of crab fried rice. We finished almost everything except a quarter of the Pan, about a quarter of the rice, and about a third of the ribeye. All were great dishes and would definitely order again. We skipped dessert because honestly none stood out to us. He said their popular dessert is the souffle but they were sold out. Our total before gratuity was about $250 and that included one cocktail. Hubs had their "classic" old fashioned which he said was excellent! Overall, highly recommended if you don't mind the splurge or for a special occasion!

Credence Club

Stopped by Credence for lunch with my family in May. We were seated in the room to the right. Our server, Eric, was very kind and helpful when we had questions on the menu. We started with a Pan de Campo and French Fry service. The fries came out first and were served with 4 different dipping sauces. Once the Pan de Campo came out, my husband and I immediately took a slice (it was cut into quarters). The crust was very crunchy on the outside and soft in the center. The cheese had a very nice pull to it, and the mushrooms added a nice earthy flavor and subtle crunch. We then ordered our entrees. I ordered the Credence Club, my husband ordered the Heritage Half-Chicken, and our kiddo got a Burger with just cheese and ketchup on the side. Our food came out rather quickly. The Credence Club came with fries and was very delicious. The Heritage Chicken was very flavorful and tender. The Burger was also very tasty. For dessert, we ordered a Coconut Cream Pie. The pie slice we were served was plenty for the three of us to share. The meringue was very sweet, and the filling was mild in sweetness and not too overpowering with the coconut flavor. The crust was buttery and salty with a hint of coconut. Overall, the pie was perfectly balanced. As we were getting our leftovers from the host stand, we were able to speak with Clay, who asked how our experience was, and he let us know that they tend to change the items on the menu every now and then. He then showed us the room to the right where the cold bar is located and told us the next time we come in to try and get seated there for the full Credence experience. In conclusion, we left Credence happy with our meal choices. We will be returning in the future to taste some options from the dinner menu.

I was influenced. Credence has a really nice aesthetic. I went for my birthday brunch and it was pretty slow because there was a freeze warning . But our service was pretty slow despite that. Our server was nice and polite but not super attentive during a time that seemed pretty slow. The deviled crabs weren't what I expected but were pretty good. Kind of like a non baked crab salad or something topped with a light sauce. I really enjoyed the burger and fries I had. The other things I tried from friends were lacking flavor. The stuffed potatoes weren't seasoned, the stuffed beignet donuts didn't really taste like anything. Overall, the rest of my group wasn't satisfied. There was valet parking and other parking near by. Overall, it was an okay experience. I would consider going back for happy hour and getting the burger again. But we weren't super impressed... So I wouldn't go out of my way.

If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Houston, Credence absolutely delivers--across the board. From the moment we walked in, it was clear this wasn't just dinner, it was an experience. The service? A flawless 10/10. Attentive, warm, and genuinely invested in making the night special without ever feeling overbearing. The ambiance carried the perfect balance of upscale and inviting--exactly what you want for a celebration. Now let's talk about the food... because wow. Every dish felt intentional and perfectly executed. The deviled crabs? Chef's kiss--rich, flavorful, and gone way too fast. The half chicken was roasted to perfection--juicy, tender, and beautifully seasoned. And the red snapper? Fresh, light, and absolutely delicious. One of the standout moments of the night was the Marguerite Bar Cart--such an elegant and memorable touch that elevated the entire experience. It added a layer of charm and personalization you don't come across often. We were celebrating a friend's birthday, and the team went above and beyond by surprising him with a signed birthday card. It was such a thoughtful, genuine gesture that made the night feel even more special. 10/10 service. 10/10 experience. 10/10 food. Truly a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful evening. Credence has set the bar--and then raised it.

Michelin Star Entrance

One word I would use to describe this restaurant is intentional. From the décor to the food selection, every detail felt thoughtfully curated. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, which enhanced the overall experience. The food was exquisite, made with high-quality ingredients. The flatiron steak was amazing, and the mashed potatoes were just as impressive. The Caesar salad was solid, though the red onions personally threw it off for me a bit. The wine was surprisingly good, even as someone who isn't typically a fan of red. The ambiance was perfectly suited for the birthday dinner I attended, and the portions were generous. Prices reflect the experience you're receiving. The bread is a menu item rather than complimentary, nothing too exciting on its own, but it paired really well with their butter. Overall, I can certainly see why they have earned a Michelin star.

Dry aged duck

5//5 on food. Highlight of the night was definitely the dry aged duck. They say it's for 2 but honestly I think it's more for 3! There was still a ton left over. Loved the creme brulee for dessert! Had the Dead Flower to drink and that was probably my favorite mocktail! 5/5 on service as well. Our server had great recommendations for drinks and food. He was also super attentive. 5/5 on ambiance. Was definitely giving an upscale vibe.

Stoped in for a birthday dinner. The service was stellar. it's such a cute place. They have valet and self parking. Appetizer went really well with the deviled crab and the monkey bread. The fish was as good however my steak came out under. I actually was going to take it and just cook more later but one of the managers was nice enough to make a new one. it's made on a grill so the sear or char you may be looking for wasn't here for me. Two out of three of my sides came out room temp but the flavor was there! The roasted carrots are good! The potatoes are also good. i would still come back to give it another go. Plus, the deviled crab is worth the trek!

Hearth-roasted whole fish

Great ambience and good food in the Memorial area! They are focused on making Texas focused foods using live-fire preparations, which makes for great food. Definitely make reservations, because this place gets busy. Here's what we got: Monkey bread - 4/5 - it's buttery bread, so it's tough to not like it, but we honestly expected a bit more from it. It tasted like a basic roll. We got it with the trout roe, which I don't know if it's worth it. Tuna tartare - 5/5 - this was great! I love the crispy rice, and had a spicy kick. Heritage half chicken - 5/5 - very flavorful and juicy. Hearth roasted whole fish - 5/5 - this was delicious! Lemony, garlicky, dill-forward - all my favorite flavors! Wood roasted carrots - 3/5 - these were okay. They were more mushy than I wanted them to be. Overall a great experience and we'll likely be back if we're in the area!

Leaked a lot of juice, probably from all the veggies, and made it super messy. Who wants to eat a wrap that's dripping veggie juice the entire time?
