I visited this establishment during their happy hour as I wanted to taste some of their appetizers. I went in excited and optimistic. I was greeted and well served so shout out to their staff members who were very pleasant. I received phenomenal service where everything was brought to me in a fashionably and timely manner. It was a very soothing experience in the music selection was wonderful as well. I overly enjoyed listening to the tunes while I ate. I would've loved to have sat outside, but it was cold that day. Nonetheless, the only reason for a four star was because I wasn't really WOW'd by the food. The deviled eggs were OK, but I felt as if they had a tougher texture. Along with the chips being a little bit overly greased (quite a bit of oil was still sitting in top of them). The meatball was just OK as well. Now I will say the wine was refreshing! 5 stars for customer service! 5 stars for "seconds please" taste! 5 stars for an incredible atmosphere! So I recently purchased my home very nearby this restaurant. I had lived in 59 kirby area prior for the past seven years and missed the plethora of incredible food options available in inner city life. Admittedly, this caused me to have to do a lot of research for restaurants near my house when I first moved to the area a couple years ago. Obviously there arent as numerous options and adjusting to my mortgage and my amazing kitchen I decided to save and hit up safe bets when it came to eating out because I have a picky palate. I always had this place on my list and with the flood earlier in the year I was starving and going to give this place a try. As an Air Force veteran I pay attention to altruism. I am literally drawn to it and unfortunately wasnt able to eat here that day because the owner was having a meeting about donating to the families who were victims of the flood. I know this because I talked to him and he was having a meeting with his staff about it. I always left a mental note to go back because I was too hungry that day I couldnt wait an hour. Long story short I tried this place earlier in the week and it knocked my socks off. I ordered a burger carry out cause I just finished my worked out and this nice lady brought my food to my car. And patiently waited even though I had a little difficulty finding the front entrance. My secret gauge for how good or bad a restaurant is, is how good or bad their burgers are. I have been on cruise ships and nice restaurants all over the world, and this place has the best bacon cheeseburger I have ever had in my life! I was born and raised in the U S Virgin Islands and have had some comparable awesome burgers at the bougie places the billionaires go so trust me please. I wont be eating them regularly because I meal prep and have to get back in form lol but when I want a good burger I am coming here. O and another thing I literally was going to write my review the first order but they gave me a complimentary dessert last night just for being nice on the phone. This place obviously is full service and full menu, and that they have a good selection of wines and all of the food looks very interesting be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner. But we found the breakfast to be very tasty very well-made, with crispy, meaty, bacon, and perfectly made eggs. The homemade biscuits were fantastic! KP's Kitchen has been on my list for a while now. One of my friend's lives nearby and says it's one of his favorite places. I went with my coworkers, and everyone enjoyed their food. We ordered truffle deviled eggs, which were served with homemade chips. It was good but kind of pricy at $17. Our server was "fabulous" and did a great job. The portions were huge for the sandwiches and looked amazing. I ordered the grilled salmon plate and the veggies were delicious, especially the carrots. We shared 3 different desserts but all agreed that it wasn't as good as the entrees. It's a cute cozy neighborhood spot and perfect if you are looking for a farm to table like American dining experience. They offer a pretty good happy hour menu too. read more

You know? I've been a fan and champion of Kerry Pauley and his KP's Kitchen, like, forever. It's one of those places where I could order anything on the menu and be happy. He has two locations now and I typically go to the Katy Freeway one. I love to cook at home and really haven't gotten used to dining out, when not checking out some new international restaurant. When I go out, my default is cuisine from another country. But over the years, when not trying something amazingly Asian along Bellaire Blvd., I / we have defaulted to KP's 'cause we know we'll leave with smiles on our faces. Kerry does a lot of good things for the community. He is a good guy. And he is very creative, coming up with one off weekly specials that are always tempting. read more

I've tried to come here several times, so I'm glad I finally made it. We started with the fried artichokes which were absolutely delightful. Meaty artichokes with a rich Dijon sauce: 10/10. I went with the crab Benedict. The first round rendered overly poached eggs and a cold plate. The staff was quick to resolve the issue and the brought a new order up quickly. Other remarks from the party: the cherry vanilla lemonade didn't work as the flavors competed and none won out. The hot chicken biscuit was excellent. The quiche was "okay". The music was at the right volume so we were able to carry on a conversation without competing with the noise. read more

My friend chose this place for her birthday and we both really liked it. We both ordered the buttermilk fried chicken platter and it was really good, we also ordered a side of crispy cauliflower and that was pretty tasty. Iced tea was delicious and side note, the honey mustard was top notch. My friend does not like ranch dressing and she really liked theirs. We plan on going back. Why 4 stars? Because everything we tried was perfectly enjoyable. --- --- --- Every time I've gone to the Houston Improv, I've been tempted to grab dinner at KP's, as it's only a few minutes down the road and I've had it bookmarked forever. While normally I lean on Jando S to take me somewhere much more exotic, he said he was in the mood for some good ol murican food. Score one for the non-practicing Ashkenazis. I would label mostly everything we ordered to be fit right into the 4-star range: solidly good - nothing mind blowing, but nothing disappointing. The two exceptions would be: the prosciutto, burrata and melon - it had quite a nice explosion of flavors. 5-stars. My least favorite was the strawberry shortcake, as it was a bit dry, and would not be something I'd need to order again. 2.5-stars. I don't even really like deviled eggs, but I enjoyed a couple bites of the truffled deviled eggs. 4-stars. The spinach artichoke dip and the burger were both the "OK hand sign" emoji. You'd never be mad about eating these on a regular basis. And the truffle fries were not too truffley, which I enjoyed because sometimes the truffle can be a bit overwhelming. The service was also excellent - we never went more than a few minutes without someone checking on us. Last Saturday evening my girl friend and I went to KP's Kitchen for the first time. It was fantastic. The food is creative and delicious . The service is impeccable. They have a creative cocktailo list and a well stocked bar . And yet ,it is a very family friendly spot . It's like a traditional American food cafe' with a gourmet twist . I had the pleasure of visiting KP's when it first opened back in 2021 at the Town & Country Village location. I loved the cozy, welcoming vibe and solid food--it quickly became a local favorite. Since then, they've moved to a new spot right of Katy Freeway, and I recently got the chance to check out the updated location. I'm happy to say it's just as good--if not better! The service is still top-notch: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they care about their customers and take pride in what they do. As for the food, it's hard to pick a favorite. First time here. The food is great. Everything is scratch made, and full of care and flavor. The crispy cauliflower is an absolute must. The roast chicken is marinated overnight and it shows! Moist and tender. The Cobb salad was fantastic. The Friday night crew provided great, friendly, and prompt service. The decor is eclectic and fun, with large windows, high ceilings, and interesting artwork on the walls. Local restaurant (not corporate), AND they are charitable to the community, so I am happy to support them. Add free, self parking to the mix, and it was a wonderful evening. After reading the reviews on Yelp I couldn't WAIT to try the Brussels sprouts here. And they were amazing! Definite definite must try. We also decided to try the cantaloupe prosciutto appetizer. While the flavors were a fun combination on the palate, the menu mentioned sugar rush cantaloupe. They must have run out because we received regular cantaloupe. I know the difference well. So I would have loved to have had the real thing as I think it would have given a stronger kick to the mix. The ribs fell off the bone and were perfectly seasoned. The Cole slaw side was a nice cool refreshing addition but it needed salt and pepper. I replaced the fries with a side salad which was your basic dinner salad. Oh but the cheeseburger!? So yum yum yum. With the side of truffle fries which was a nice change up, I'd go back just for the burger. The key lime dessert was runny and too tart with a tough premade circle crust not a slice of pie. Not good. Service was awesome. We felt well taken care of by our attentive waitress. My coworker selected this spot for a group lunch. Some of us from our downtown office were meeting with folks from our 290 location and he thought this may be a good midpoint. The staff at KP's was awesome and readily able to accommodate our group of eight diners for lunch. Didn't try any apps, we went straight to the main courses. Couple of us ordered the Buttermilk Chicken tenders which was accompanied by fries. Fries were just ok. The chicken had a crispy exterior and was juicy on the inside, but could have stood to have more seasoning added. The accompanying sauce on the side enhanced the flavor but shouldn't have been necessary to use. Three of us ordered the key lime tart for dessert. Key lime pie is one of my favorite desserts so ordering this is was a no-brainer. KP's version of key lime tart is absolutely beautiful to look at as seen in the pic I attached to this review. The COO in our group remarked that the crust was a bit thick and I'll have to agree with him. However, the expected tartness of key lime was present and the flavor wasn't bad at all. Not sure we'd add this to the regular rotation of lunch spots but wanted to again give kudos to the staff on duty that day. We walked in, informed them we had a large group en route and they made it work. They ensured that we were all taken care of. All eight of us received our meals simultaneously with no inaccuracies. This place has an excellent burger. I don't know how to explain it, it's just delicious. The fries on the other hand are rather average. I decided to just kind of overlook that because everything else was so good. I was meeting up with a group of friends. And we all seem to arrive at different times. Two of us were sitting there waiting and chit-chatting and finally ordered. They asked if it was our first time and we said it was. Next thing we know they're bringing us an order of their brussel sprouts. These things are pretty awesome. The service was wonderful. We sat outside as it was one of those few days in Houston where the weather just works out magically for that. Overtime, our other friends showed up. Everyone enjoyed the food. I was in the area meeting a friend and after we wanted to find a new place with decent prices for dinner. This place looked great and offered wine which was what I wanted. Among entering we were greeted and seated quickly. The place is smaller than I would have thought but cute and anyone could come here families, girls night out, or date night. I wanted a glass of wine but ended up ordering the spicy margarita and my friend ordered a cocktail as well. I will say this place is not the place to order a cocktail instead I would suggest ordering wine. My margarita was not spicy and tasted like juice. This was my second time coming here. The first time I was very impressed with their ribs and fries. The second time I ordered the fish baked in paper. Immediately when the plate was set down from the server, I could smell that fishy funk and knew it wasn't fresh. The haddock was rubbery and lacked flavor. This tasted like an old fish they found in the freezer. Also the meatballs were a bit rubbery. Service was lacking as they never came to refill drinks unless we explicitly asked. I thought my plate was tasty, but I had some reservations, which puts me on the fence to going back. In general I found their pricing on the high side. I had the ribeye migas for brunch and I really don't think the steak was ribeye....it was a lower end cut or it was so overcooked I couldn't tell it was ribeye. $22. I was disappointed on the upcharge to getting my elderly parent a kids plate just because they are an adult. I understand the policy and they don't want families to abuse ordering a kids plate, but they also don't offer a senior option. My mom couldn't even finish what she had. Makes it difficult to want to go back there even though her senior living facility is close by and convenient, which is why we decided to try it in the first place.... read more
