I tried them for the first time after driving past it so many times, not realizing exactly what it was, so I'm honestly glad I finally stopped in. This place is an absolute gem and feels like a well-kept secret if you're not already in the know. I'm sure the OG Houstonians are very familiar, but it was new to me. I got invited on an outing here and we arrived around 8:45pm on a Tuesday night, right before the kitchen closed. It was pretty quiet with just one other table, but you could immediately tell this restaurant has history. It has that classic "this used to be the spot" energy. I ordered the New Orleans Blackened Red snapper, which was served with vegetables. It was delicious, and paired it with a really refreshing mocktail. Everything hit. It was so hard to even choose this entrée because everything on the menu looked good. I'm already looking forward to coming back and experiencing it during a livelier time. Legendary River Oaks restaurant that didn't hit for me today. I've been coming here for 20+ years. The space is beautiful, well-kept and great service. I'm certain I just picked wrong for lunch. I ordered the Curry Chicken Salad. I think the biggest miss was the cut on the chicken. Large slices, needed several cuts to get down to a bite. Also, the mix was a bit "saucy". No one's fault. I was thinking more like a true chicken salad. Flavor was there. Maybe as Chopped would say "knife skills". Could also be me. I'll come back and choose different next time. read more

This was out third time partaking in weekend brunch. Each one of our visits have been equally the same, impecable service and delicious food. The live piano player adds a whimsy to the experience and simply elevates everything. There is nothing on the menu that you can go wrong with. This was my first time visiting, as I came for a business luncheon. The environment and the restaurant itself are beautiful, especially the entryway. I loved the cart with the champagne bottle; such a nice touch. We sat in one of the reserved rooms and were served by two gentlemen who were truly on top of their game. Their customer service was excellent, efficient, attentive, and very courteous. As for the food, I'm not exactly sure what the dish was called, but it was delicious. The dessert and the bread were also very good. I'd love to come back on my own time and try other dishes from the menu. One thing to note: parking is limited. Houston is filled with great restaurants but Ouisie's Table is such a lovely hidden gem. The food is consistently excellent but it's really the service that stands out. I came here once with my son (who was three at the time) and the manager could tell he was a little bored, sitting at the table and feeling a little out of place. He took my son off for a tour of the restaurant, showed him the kitchens, made sure he was happy - it was honestly one of the nicest things I've experienced. Now I take all my business lunches and dinners here - if they can treat a three-year-old with such kindness, I know my customers will be in great hands. read more

This is a very pretty restaurant to take a special person to or to just meet a friend. The food is always very good, and they will normally permit substitutions (vegetables, fries, etc.) - basically "they aim to please". Met a friend here for lunch and there's always room on a weekday for lunch - the restaurant does fill up in the evenings and on weekends. The server was very pleasant and accommodating with a change order. We just had standard fare today, the burger with fries and the turkey club. Also, a cappuccino. Very reasonably priced for lunch. A leisurely lunch and we sat around for another 15 minutes. Food came out in about 10 minutes time. Easy to get here - just inside the loop on San Felipe. Here's what could be better: Decor - recommend something is updated every 3-4 months. Ceiling fans from the 1990s, mismatched chairs: wooden chairs had most of the paint scratched off, newer metal chair cushions were ripped. May be repaint the walls, red dress from 1968 in a glass case looked nice, but out of place. Service: I shouldn't need to remind the waiter to ask if guests would like another round of cocktails, pour wine for us. Second bottle was opened but left in the middle of the table. We've both passed by here a million times (though I thought it was called Elvie's table and she thought it was Eunice due to the cursive letters lol) so we finally stopped in. The place was cute and cozy in the lobby. The main dining room is one big room and it seems like it used to be a house. They had a pianist playing seasonal music (and later happy birthday for me :). Rey have an assortment of complementary bread that was unfortunately the best thing we ate all night. We asked for more and took 3 waiters to finally bring it. The menu sounds super exciting but the pictures left a bit to be desired and the flavor did as well. We dined toast style from their small plates and nothing was mentionably good. The calamari was oddly thick and cut into squares which made me wonder if it was really calamari. The oysters Rockefeller were left uneaten after trying one each. The crab cakes also disappointed. My friend did like her edge salad though. They brought a slice of cake for my birthday that was good. Overall it was disappointing. Despite some reviews about forced valet parking, we had no issues and were able to park ourselves and walk to the restaurant. The ambiance had an older, more traditional feel compared to the fun atmosphere I was expecting given its proximity to the Galleria. I think I was probably the youngest diner there. The meal started with three types of muffins--cornbread and jalapeño cheddar being the BEST. I shamelessly ate six of them, and the waitstaff happily kept them coming! For the appetizer, I ordered for the crab cake. While the portion was decent, the flavor didn't stand out, and the corn pairing did not help. My main course was the beef tenderloin with vegetables and au gratin potatoes. It was simple and straightforward, but nothing memorable. The potatoes were my favorite part of the dish, though they could have been cooked a little longer for a softer texture and more browning on top as you would expect with au gratin potatoes. Girls brunch at Ouisie's was a success! When you arrive, there is $5 valet parking available, or you can self park at the far end of the shared parking lot (be mindful of signs). Hostess area is large which was nice, since our group didn't feel squished while taking a group photo together. We were seated near the back of the restaurant in one of the side rooms, which was pleasant and roomy. We all enjoyed our food; the only dish that wasn't as delicious was the hummus, but we filled up on our main dishes. I had the Chicken and Waffle dish (comes with scrambled eggs) and was a good balance of sweet and savory; it also comes with a side of fruit. Portions are plentiful! Service was good, but not great. I am starting to love everything about this place. It is fine dining for sure but at what I think is still. Reasonable price point (25-40 per person) I ordered the chx fs because its my favorite entree anywhere that serves it and this one did not disappoint. Thin and very tender sliced steak (actual steak yall) battered and fried to perfection that gives that deep color and crunch without being greasy or chewing glass. It was the gravy that was above and beyond. I said to my friend it tasted like it had been whisked ten minutes ago. The little pottery pitcher kept it hot so i could pour as I ate which was fantastic. The mashed potatoes were just okay but i didnt even care because that cfs was so good and i worked up the courage to try that corn pudding and just omg - it had the texture of egg souffle but tasted like savory corn with a hint of heat and was so so yums. Order it. The dining room is tight and I had to turn sideways to get through a few spots even with the tables empty since it was 5:30 on a weeknight but that doesn't bother me either. It is an extremely open dining room so if you want to talk dirt or family drama or business it will be everyone else's business around you but i find that adds to the family feel of the place. Came in here with a group and was pretty unimpressed when it came to receiving our main course and dessert. I had the salmon with crabmeat, but to be honest, I can cook salmon better at home because the salmon I got was almost a little too salty. Probably the worst part was the dessert. I asked for the raspberry sorbet and someone else in my group did too. My sorbet just tasted like sugary shaved ice and there chunky ice bits in it, suggesting to me that I had been served a sorbet piece that was several months past its sell-by date. The worst part about the sorbet I was served was the color!! The color was sordid to say the least and it reminded me of a women's monthly occurrence. The sorbet (pictured on the left) tasted and looked like a raspberry sorbet dessert SHOULD taste. I don't know who the kitchen manager is, but seriously sir or ma'am, do better. My friend and I went to Ouisie's table on a Saturday evening for a girls date. There is valet parking as well as self parking available. The ambiance inside is very nice and family friendly. There was even a live piano player which gave a nice touch for the holiday season. The service was pretty good too as our waiter was very attentive. I wanted to try a variety of their options so I ordered the wedge salad, rockerfeller oysters and crab cakes. The salad was very fresh and the perfect portion. However, the oysters and crab cakes left much to be desired in my opinion. Even if oysters are slightly cooked I've still had versions before that still have that fresh taste, which this did not. I didn't particularly enjoy the flavor or it either. The crab cakes were okay, again just not as savory as ones I've had before so I did feel a little underwhelmed especially because it was a place we had both been really wanting to try. read more

When you walk in the restaurant, you can't help but to feel like you are at home! Parking: Parking consists of: Mostly valet only, but the valet will point out a few number of self-parking spots. I'm sure its at your own risk because it's near other businesses. Customer Service: Everyone was nice. From the time you walk in to the door, getting seated, to being waited on. It was top notch. Today, my mom hosted a lovely baby shower for me in a private room at Ouisie's. Sharon Flowers and Eric Hudson were our servers, and they were OUTSTANDING. They were so attentive, kind, professional, thoughtful, positive, energetic, and just plain fun. They truly cared about making the event special for us and for our guests. We had a lot of decor setup and my mom wanted it to be perfect, and they made sure it was. They were even helping with details like making sure guests had their name tags my mom had made, kept us all well hydrated and fed, and timed food well with mingling and the sit-down courses. We stayed for a long time catching up with old friends, and they never rushed us. They even packed up to go boxes for us, helped us load up our decor, and said the kindest things wishing us well for this next chapter as a mom and grandmother. They are truly great people. First time trying Ouisie's yesterday for lunch with my gal to celebrate my birthday. This was a last minute plan so didn't really have the time to research what it is all about. It is nestled in River Oaks and I made a reservation for noon on a Friday. They only have valet parking which costs $5. It wasn't busy when I got there. I was seated promptly on a center table so that was good. While I waited. I was offered water, butter and bread. The ambience was more on the rustic, old money, classic side. There was also an interesting red dress on display. Servers were garbed in their crisp uniforms. The menu was extensive, especially with their wines. They also had a fair share of meat and seafood fare. I ordered the Herb Crusted Sea Scallops with Parmesan Roe and a prosecco. The presentation was nice! Butternut was so good and the green beans that came with it too. However, i must admit that the scallops were way too salty. I didn't want to make a complaint because it was my birthday and that we didn't really have much time at lunch. I wasn't able to really enjoy the seafood side of it. Also, just in case you visit at lunch time... their clientele is mostly on the senior side. Maybe dinner time is different. They had some cute areas to take pictures in for your instagram diaries.
