Service was definitely top notch from entry to exit. They have valet parking and garage parking thats validated. I had the meatballs which were delicious. The strip steak seemed like a lower cut or choice. But it was flavored well. My sides were good. I wanted to try the tallow fries but I was pretty much stuffed. My server was really good. One thing that I did peep was the gratuity 20% was included. I had cash to tip. Which was more than this. Because my service was so good. When you decide for me the tip of a party that's not a large party. That's the tip. I don't like it. But other than that. I loved it. read more

King's Steak --Houston Restaurant Week Review Part II We discovered King's Steak through Houston Restaurant Week and decided to give it a try after checking out the photos and reviews. Overall, we had a good experience and enjoyed our evening! First, parking was easy with valet for only $6, and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. The restaurant has an interesting layout. The front has a lively bar area with a more casual/upscale mix of guests, while the back opens into several beautiful dining rooms that feel more intimate and upscale. We sat in the middle room, which had a large TV playing the Texans game -- a nice touch! The ambiance was definitely one of my favorite things. The service was good, too. Our waitress was knowledgeable, quick and attentive. She wasn't overly bubbly, but she did her job well. She could have added a little more umph! We did the four-course Houston Restaurant Week menu. Starters: The rock shrimp were really good, with a nice sauce. The meatball was just okay. It came out piping hot, although the center was a little lukewarm. Salads: Both salads were good, although I would have liked a little more Caesar dressing on mine, and the traditional salad could have used a little more bacon. Entrées: I ordered the salmon with potatoes instead of cauliflower rice. The salmon was cooked perfectly medium, but it could have used more seasoning. The potatoes were good. The Mister ordered the steak and potatoes, and even though I don't eat steak, that steak was GOOD! It was flavorful and a nice size. There is an additional charge if you upgrade to the 14-ounce steak instead of the 6-ounce filet included with the Houston Restaurant Week menu, but he said it was worth it. Now let's talk about DESSERT! This was definitely the highlight of the meal for me! The butter cake was AMAZING, and that warm skillet cookie with ice cream? SUPERB! The cookie was soft, warm and absolutely delicious. Dessert definitely stole the show! For drinks, my lemon drop was just okay -- a little too much vodka and not enough lemon for my taste. The Mister enjoyed his drink, though, and said it was strong and good. We also checked out the regular menu prices, and they're pretty much what you'd expect from a steakhouse -- definitely on the pricier side, but not out of the ordinary. Overall: We had a good experience at King's Steak. Nothing was bad, and there were definitely some standout moments (especially that dessert and steak!). Would we go back? We're both sitting somewhere in the maybe/maybe not category. But if you're in the Galleria area and haven't tried King's Steak, I'd say give it a try and decide for yourself! read more

I came here with my friend to experience the restaurant and their HRW menu. They had some nice options for HRW so we were looking forward to it. I made reservations for 8:45pm but arrived at 8:15pm. I left my car with the valet. The hostess checked us in and told us we could sit at the bar while we waited for our table. The bar staff were super busy but at the same time were very attentive and engaging. Once the table was ready we were taken into the private room areas were they had more tables available. The different rooms were nice for different private/special events. They had TVs inside that were showing sports and are probably used for meetings. Our room was really cold inside. Once we were seated, it took a while for the server to get to us. They too were super busy on this White Linen, HRW Saturday night. And I'm used to the delays during HRW as this happens often, unfortunately. So by the time she came for our drink orders, we gave our full orders. She was very kind and worked as fast as she could. I ordered the Rock Shrimp for my appetizer, the beet salad for my 1st course, the Ora Salmon for my 2nd course, and the mini butter cake for my 3rd course. It did take a long time, well over 15-20 minutes, for the first course to come out. The salad came out before my shrimp. Which wasn't a problem but I did ask the server to make sure the shrimp was fresh when she went back to get it. She returned in 3 minutes and they were not hot & fresh. They actually tasted stale like it had been in freezer too long. The salad & salmon was good. The butter cake was good. I just wish it was hot and had more of a crisp to it. Overall it's a nice restaurant & I would try it again. It just might be better outside of Houston Restaurant Week. read more

Beautiful Establishment and very attentive staff. Everyone was welcoming. I started off at the bar while I waited for my guest. I had a Margarita that was made with grapefruit and Campari. Campari is an acquired taste, but I have acquired it.. lol I dined here for Houston Restaurant Week (HRW) I appreciated the variety on the HRW menu. The short rib was one of the most tender that I have had. The butter cake was delicious!! read more

We just happen to walk in, without reservations, on social media night! Half the restaurant was overflowing with influencers which was interesting. They were very respectful and dressed like it was a cocktail party! We had our servers decide our meal and they got it out of the park! The chef himself came out and flamed our Tomahawk at the, stoped by a number of times to check on us, and made sure to thank us for coming in. This was a gem of a find, almost as great as our local steak house in Fort Worth. We had a great time and plan to stop by again. They have a large area for private parties and a nice outdoor seating area as well as a bar top. read more

Why 3 stars? Because the food was decent enough, but the hidden upcharge is really shady. --- --- --- When I am eating a meal, I have a constant counter evolving in my head with the star rating that I plan to give. After the first couple bites of my burger, I was leaning toward 3-stars because there was some kind of funky taste from something. It kind of reminded me of a gamey cheese, which is my least favorite substance on Earth. But it subsided after the first 2-3 bites, so then the counter in my head ticked back up to 4-stars. And then I got the bill, and noticed a $13 charge for a bottle of Aqua Panna. Absurd. When I first sat down, I was simply asked if I wanted sparkling or still. I said still. Did that indicate that I wanted a $13 glass bottle of water, of which I was only given a portion of? This was a dinner I expensed for work, so this money doesn't even come out of my own pocket. But just on principle, I find this to be beyond outrageous. I'm glad I discovered this now because I planned on potentially coming here for a future birthday/anniversary type of special occasion, but this really rubbed me the wrong way and I will happily opt to spend those special occasion meals at other spots. read more

We decided to take advantage of Restaurant Week to check out this spot, and it was a mixed experience. The location and ambiance are definitely the highlights--the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and we were seated right away. The meal started off incredibly strong. We ordered the meatball, bacon, and avocado appetizer, and it was delicious. The salads were also fresh and very well-made. Unfortunately, the momentum dropped significantly when the entrées arrived. Chicken Piccata, the flavor fell flat and tasted a bit bland, though the noodles were cooked perfectly al dente. Salmon, my husband's dish was way too fishy and completely overpowering. Luckily, the desserts saved the day and ended our evening on a high note. Ultimately, I have paid much less for significantly better-tasting food elsewhere. However, this is one of those places where location and atmosphere are everything. While I wouldn't return for a full dinner, I could easily see coming back to enjoy their gorgeous bar setting for drinks and appetizers. read more

My husband and I have been coming to King since opening day. The service is always top notch and the food and drinks are delightful. It's an amazing place to bring clients when you aim to impress. We've done a two or their wine events which are top notch, highly recommend. Price per person may seem like a lot up front, but is an amazing experience and I'm pretty sure the house loses with the heavy pours of top notch wine and amazing courses you experience along the way. We've been following Chef Eric for years, he never skimps on quality food, going above and beyond to ensure the staff makes every customer interface one not to forget. Will definitely return and tell all our friends, you should too. read more

Seed oil free steak house in the galleria area that does everything really high end. I came here for a family Christmas Eve dinner and appreciated how they upgraded us to a more private setting in a room to ourselves. They manager swung by and said how he made sure to do this since he saw on the reservation we asked for two high chairs for small children. It was a thoughtful addition to our visit here! The atmosphere is the upscale modern and clean you come to expect with new restaurants, and I thought the full 360 windows in the main dining room was cool. The service was nice, but I do wish they were a bit more present and a little more engaging. Our waitress did everything needed, but when you go to a steakhouse, I expect that little bit extra. Come check for drinks more often, water refills as soon as necessary, talk up menu items. The food itself was top notch for us. We are victim to the cleaner eating thought train and they proudly make that known as part of their experience here. Meatballs were incredible texture and had a nice spice to it. Crispy tallow fries and a Caesar salad that hits the right notes are a perfect pairing for any "Girl-dinner". Personally I loved how the steaks tasted, garlicky and crusty outside where the grill kissed it just right. Again my main reservation here is that it doesn't hit that over the top American steakhouse experience you might expect. My drink was kinda plain the veggies were good. But I think I was looking for something punchier on the menu too. We left really happy with our visit to King Steak, and I imagine we'll be back, because it was so pleasant and fits our expectations for food quality. read more

Amazing glass walled venue, top notch meals and service. Returning 2 days later Yes it is that good!

We recently visited King Steak and had a mixed experience overall. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful--gorgeous decor and very aesthetically pleasing plating that really elevates the dining experience. The staff was attentive, and I want to specifically recognize Eric Aldis as a dedicated and standout team member. We also appreciated the focus on bold flavors and the use of time-honored cooking techniques, as well as the effort to avoid seed oils. The meal started strong with the bacon-wrapped scallops, which were truly spectacular and set a high expectation for the rest of the evening. That said, many of the menu items leaned heavily on jalapeño-based flavors. While enjoyable for those who love spice, it would be great to see more bold flavor options that don't center around jalapeño for those who prefer a less spicy profile. Unfortunately, the main entrées didn't quite meet expectations. The hamburger, ordered medium rare, arrived cold in the center--not even room temperature--and the cheese hadn't melted or incorporated into the sandwich. The fries were also not hot, making it difficult even to season them, as salt wouldn't stick. The short ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, which some may enjoy, but for me, the texture left something to be desired. On a positive note, we were celebrating a birthday, and the complimentary cake and birthday acknowledgment were fantastic and much appreciated. Overall, a beautiful restaurant with strong potential, excellent service, and a great start to the meal--but consistency in execution and a broader flavor profile would really take it to the next level. read more

Came here for Houston Restaurant Weeks 2025. A great way to try several dishes. Between the two of us, we were able to try/share 8 dishes! For apps, we got the rock shrimp and guacamole/bacon. Probably the best guac I've had - nice and chunky! We tried both the traditional and beet salads, both light and delicious. For entrees, we got the filet and short rib. The short rib was the winner here - super tender, fall apart. And to end the meal, we got the butter cake and half baked cookie - OH MY!! What a way to finish off an amazing meal. Both were winners! The service was lovely and not intrusive. The place itself is stunning, with comfy booths and a nice bar in the middle of the room. They have private rooms available which look so inviting! King Steak will thrive in this location and we can't wait to come back! read more

The best thing about King Steak is their staff. The owners, the hostesses, the servers all take the time to talk to you and treat you like friends. The next best things about King Steak is that they are seed-oil free, the location is easy to access and park, the ambience is romantic without being overboard, and the *FOOD* is perfect every single time. I dream of their short rib, the beef tallow French fries are the best in the city, and the cookie for dessert is sublime. We've been multiple times and will continue to go. Do yourself a favor and go to King Steak. read more

Beautiful steakhouse in front of the BBVA Compass Plaza building. Firstly, the service and staff were so extremely accommodating. We requested a larger table for a table of 6 and they immediately moved us to a larger, private area. Customer service is so important to make a place memorable- so thank you King Steak staff (Eric and Justin). The food was fantastic. I'm a huge fan of spinach artichoke dip and I would say their spinach artichoke dip is now my favorite in Houston. Meatball appetizer were huge- very shareable. I got the short rib- it was tender, flavorful. They also cooked the filet to perfection- perfect medium rare and seasoned just right. Do not skip their dessert! I would definitely add this place to my regular rotation. read more

Enjoyed my first Mother's Day Brunch at King Steak! They had a 3 course brunch special for $75 per adult, served family style. To start, we enjoyed French toast, lemon ricotta pancakes and avocado toast. The main course (pictured) included salmon piccata, beef tenderloin & honey baked ham with jalapeño hashbrowns on the side. Everything was delicious & came out hot, our server placed another order for our main entrees so we could pack it up to go (included in the brunch special for no additional charge) -- we finished everything off with an oversized chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream. We left stuffed & satisfied! read more

We had a terrible experience during restaurant week. Our reservation was at 6:15pm and we got back into the car at 7:18pm for a 4 course meal. The timing was terrible. Courses continued to come out on top of each other. Our waiter brought out dessert with ice cream about 5 min into our main course. It melted and made the butter cake soggy. We told the waiter it was too soon and he said I'll bring more ice cream if it melts. How is that helpful? The dessert is going to be ruined. We felt extremely rushed. Also I ordered a cocktail, that was terrible as well. We ordered some items off of the regular menu as well, the food was very underwhelming. The ambiance was the worst. Why is this a white tablecloth restaurant, which typically signifies fine dining? Huge TVs that were on, paper menus, loud non-dinner music, tables seated too close together, and poor service. If a portion of our meal didn't support the food bank, we would have requested a comp meal. read more

Our experience at dinner last night was average at best. We were seated right next to the bar and it was incredibly loud and we were unable to have a conversation. In addition, the music in the restaurant was really loud. I don't really want to listen to the Red Hot Chili Peppers while I'm having a fine dining experience. The wine list is awful. There are no Italian, French, or Spanish wine selections. It's just all very commercial California wines. They also only had 3 different gins to choose from. And paper menus that were roughly cut? For this to be an upscale steakhouse, I was very disappointed and we will not be returning. read more

The food was a 7/10, that chocolate chip cookie was so good! However, the service was lacking & ruined it for me overall... Chose king steak for our weekday happy hour. We arrived right after opening on Wednesday, the bartender seemed to still be setting up. Our small group of 3 were the only ones in the establishment for a while, the bartender was not even a little friendly and even made me feel uncomfortable. First he seemed surprised when we arrived, almost as if he was taken back by guests arriving within 10-15 minutes of opening (despite it being business hours). It was my first time there and I wanted to see the drink menu, well he rushed me by asking 3 different times what I wanted in the span of 3 minutes. He was very standoffish and didn't make any small talk with us whatsoever, he took our food order and when I suggested that steak bites would be a great addition to their HH food menu, he laughed and responded "well if you want steak, you should just order a steak". Again, we were only there for happy hour and we ordered appetizers to share, no one ordered an entree. The ambience was already off but the bartender's response just made it awkward. I hurried and finished my drink and got out of there as soon as I could. The food was good but due to my experience I am in no rush to return. There are many restaurants and fine dining establishments in the area to choose from where good service is included. read more

Went to dinner here recently. Was highly disappointed. My main concern was the service. The staff seemed as if we bothering them. Upon arrival, we were informed that we had to wait regardless of our reservation which isn't a big deal, we were highly anticipating the meal so didn't mind the wait. However, when we back to the hostess stand to get an update, a white male (seemed to be the manager) had a horrible attitude. We were seated at a table that wasn't set. The poor busboy was still trying to put the tablecloth down and looked confused when they brought us to the table. The food was not seasoned. We used the salt and pepper to the best of our ability but it didn't help much. Our waiter Mike, seemed displeased when he approached us. Idk if he was having a bad day but we definitely felt the energy. To be honest, they seemed racist. The entire staff was white which I initially didn't notice until I realized the difference in service we received. I hate that we were highly dissatisfied as we were looking forward to a nice night out. read more

Can you say perfection?! This meal was an unforgettable combination of delicious flavors paired with beautifully presented dishes that awakened all my senses. From the first bite to the last sip, everything was absolutely on point. If you're coming to Houston, this fabulous restaurant is a must. The customer service is top-tier--warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. And the drinks? If you can think of it, they can make it--crafted to perfection every time. Abigail was a very attentive server and the manager Eric's attention to detail was close to perfection. The ambiance was equally impressive--thoughtfully designed and able to complement any occasion, whether it's a romantic night out, a celebratory dinner, or just a relaxing evening with friends. This spot has officially earned a place on my favorites list. Don't miss it! read more

I have mixed emotions about my visit to King Steak. Our family went for HRW. We had the rock shrimp and meatball, beet salad and traditional salad, filet with asparagus and mashed potatoes, salmon with pesto cauliflower rice, mini buttercake, mini cookie, and chocolate mousse. The mashed potatoes were mediocre and the desserts were average. The salmon was bland. The appetizers, salads, and steaks were really good. The chocolate mousse was so heavily flavored with coffee (to enhance the chocolate flavor) that it really became a coffee mousse. The service was awesome. Our water glasses were constantly filled. I did not like the inclusion of a mandatory 20% tip. While I would have given the staff 20% because the service was really good, what if we had terrible service? We had a table of three people, not a large party. A mandatory 20% tip is unreasonable in this circumstance. Additionally, the bill still included a line for you to add a tip. If customers are not paying close attention and add a tip on the blank tip line, the customer will accidentally pay a significantly higher tip than intended. If someone added a 20% tip to the tip line, they would have paid a 40% tip. The restaurant itself is oddly designed. There is a dining area that is more trendy/swanky in appearance in a separate building/room outside of the rest of the restaurant. We checked in at the outside building/room, went outside, and then entered the main building. There were multiple dining rooms. Our room was small and loud. There was a prairie type landscape painted or wallpaper on the wall and art deco style lighting. There was a large TV on the wall with a football game playing. We went out for fine dining, not a sports bar. The TV was a big disappointment. The wall behind us looked like it was made of partitions, something you would see in a hotel ballroom. I have no idea if the wall was solid or moveable. Give this place a try during HRW and insist on a table in the outside/swanky room. read more

We came with as first time guests and are leaving very disappointed. After our waitress took our order we didn't see her the rest of the night. We ordered a bottle of wine and had to flag her down to refill our glasses. The courses took a long time to come out with no communication from staff. The steak wasn't cooked the way we asked and the chicken piccata was super thin and tasted artificial. They opened the back window and made the dining environment uncomfortable considering it's August and still very warm outside. Manager was also unfriendly. They automatically charged a 20% gratuity on a table of 4. The service was not worthy of that large of a tip. We won't be back- not worth the price. read more

I was invited to the soft opening by a friend. The name seemed a little ridiculous, but who doesn't want to give a new potential hot spot a try. It was a mom & dad's night out, so we were excited to have some great food and beverages. Upon entering the decor was excellent. Definitely seemed well thought out, even the plates were bespoke (see my photos from the night). The menu was unique for a Houston steakhouse. They had chicken parm! I've seen this in other Mid-West Steakhouses, but not in Texas. We ended up giving that a try. If you are putting it on your steakhouse menu, you must be confident at how delicious it is. Wow, so delicious. We also split the Caesar, another WOW. There was some passed apps that came because of the soft opening. Everyone of them were so delicious. The service was great. They did not seem to have the first week jitters that I have experienced at so many restaurants and bar. The wine was delicious and not too badly marked up. King Steak definitely stands out versus the other Houston steakhouses. Will I be back? Definitely. read more

Big fan of places that don't use seed oils. Steaks were pretty good, atmosphere is small but intimate. Service was very attentive. Didn't have room for desert. We had such a great dinner at this steakhouse. One of the things we really appreciate is that they don't use seed oils. It's clear they care about quality ingredients. The food was excellent and the service matched it perfectly. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip, scallops, filet mignon, bone-in cowboy ribeye, and Ora King salmon. For sides, we had the jalapeno hash browns, mushrooms, and french fries. Everything was delicious and cooked just right. The wine selection was also fantastic, and paired beautifully with our meal. Although we had 2 small children with us, the staff and manager were so kind and accommodating. Even the owner was there and took time to be so kind to our children, which truly made us feel welcome. Honestly, I enjoyed everything! Ambiance is upscale, but I wouldn't come on a romantic date if you want a subdued, quiet atmosphere. It's boisterous--I think it's loud bc of the glass everywhere, which honestly contributes to it being such a beautiful restaurant. We had calamari, Caesar salad, short ribs, and salmon. Those short ribs are incredible, can't get any better! And the salmon was cooked to perfection. We ended up choosing the "skillet" cookie with ice cream since it's been apparently ordered many times, but we were disappointed. I was expecting something similar to Tiny's cookie skillet. This thing is HUGE, so def shareable, but lacking the moisture I was expecting. Oh well. Nbd bc I enjoyed it so much. Our party had plenty of drinks and loved them. Service is on point! My girl and I met some friends here last night and they had taken care of the reservations, so I was hesitant at first on how much I'd enjoy(I'm a extremely snobby sushi/steak guy and have my specific joints in town I prefer). Well suprise suckas, it was absolutely awesome. Up front, they use ZERO SEED OILS, which is important to us as we are both pretty health conscious. I had the filet, and my girl had the salmon, then we all split like 4 apps but the memorable ones to us were the rock shrimp and the absolute most tender meatball with a bright marinara that was knock your socks off good. I don't really ever drink so I stuck to bottle water w lemon but the martinis and manhattans are solid from the others experience.
