This is a nice little romantic spot. We had heard about it through some friends. The food was delicious. We had a couple of their Specials, Crab Fingers in Diablo sauce and Seabass topped with crab and leeks. Both were delicious. We also had the Misto salad, beef carpaccio, and the seafood lasagna. My youth group needed a caterer for our banquet, and Chef Triola blew the roof off with the food! He was the friendliest of all Sicilians and made sure that we had everything taken care of. Our menu included chicken parmigiana, beef tenderloin, pasta Alfredo, salad, breadsticks and dessert. Our party of 55 ate wonderfully; our compliments to the chef please! 100% recommend. Anddd I'm back at the best Italian food in Houston! This time we had the Parmesan crusted asparagus with lump crab. It was SO flavorful and the crisp of the asparagus went well with the soft lump crab. The Caesar salad is our fave so it was a no brainer. For the mains we had Chilean sea bass and grilled chicken Vincent. We split the entrees into two and y'all...It was SO much. One thing I love about this place is how generous the portions are. It's always plenty. Ok let's talk desserts. The cannolis. THE CANNOLIS HOLY MOLY. Yes I've been to Italy. Yes I've been to Little Italy and hopped all over other parts of New York City. Ive had all the cannolis. I've even made my own cannolis (yes I'm a baker). However, this cannoli. Chef Triola--I salute you. I'm still dreaming about this dessert. Wow. I don't know what else to say. We also had the Key lime pie and somehow the chocolate chip cookie crust with the tang from the lime works in harmony. It was incredible per usual. All I can say is, this restaurant continues to leave me happy and satisfied. The staff is consistently attentive. The chef is very involved and personally comes out to talk as if we are guests in his home. You can tell he genuinely enjoys cooking and truly cares about his customers. Triola's has a unique look outside and inside when compared to most Italian restaurants. The modern farmhouse trend is used all throughout, and it makes the place feel bright and a little more open than it might considering the small footprint. Parking lot is small and the front dining room is also quite small. The service started off a little strangely the day we swung by as I believe the owner greeted us at the door in shorts and t shirt. We were quickly sat and our server was plenty helpful throughout the meal. Couldn't tell if they Italian accent was authentic, but I enjoyed it anyways! Generally, the food is standard Italian American, calamari was crispy and maybe a tad over, got a couple pieces that got too chewy. Marinara sauce that came with it was terrific. Garlic bread is done for free and better at most other restaurants so it feels wrong having to ask for this, and it being this boring. Chicken TRIOLA, was great! I tend to order the menu item that bares the name of the business if it's my first time visiting and this did not disappoint. It came with a generous portion of stuffed chicken that stayed moist, partly due to a nice sauce ladled on top. Roasted vegetables got the right color and texture and complimented the chicken in the way you'd expect. My friends with me had some goods and gripes about their entrees, and it left me feeling mixed. A small Italian spot on the north side of town (north of downtown) on Main. We've driven past this spot without realizing that it was a restaurant; it's a standalone restaurant with limited parking in the front. The interior has limited seating and had a strong chemical cleaner smell. We came with some friends for lunch on a weekday. We ordered the fried calamari and beef carpaccio for appetizers. The calamari was very crispy and fried well but slightly dry. The marinara sauce with was good; 4/5. The beef carpaccio was also seasoned well and tasted as you would expect it to be, and the beef was tender; 4/5. Both appetizers were fairly pricey at $24 and $25 respectively. For the main entree, I got the pasta bolognese; for a $42 plate of pasta, the expectations were high. Unfortunately the first thing was that the sauce was very sweet and not savory at all. The meats in the dish were tender but the overly sweet tomato based sauce made the entire dish super sweet and odd tasting for a pasta dish; 2/5. Overall, the quality of the food seems decent, but at its cost point, the food we got doesn't seem above and beyond other Italian options in the same cost bracket. read more

All of the food was incredible and the service made the whole experience even better. It is a small, cozy spot that feels welcoming the moment you walk in. The tiramisu really stood out and is easily the best I have found anywhere in Texas (5 stars). The pasta portions are huge, the sauce is full of flavor, and the noodles are cooked perfectly. Why 5 stars? Because it was not only a delicious experience, but a fun one. --- --- --- On the way back to Montgomery from a birthday party near Nasa, we stopped into Triola for lunch. The photos and reviews made it a pretty easy decision as we were browsing different options. We were quickly introduced to the owner/chef, who has a big personality and a big voice that can easily be heard throughout the small first floor dining room. I asked him what the chef's special was and he named duck and lamb as a part of it, but I mentioned that I don't like lamb because it's gamey and that I would just go with the seafood lasagna. He insisted that his lamb was not gamey and that he would bring me a small sample to show me. He was indeed correct. I feel like it was basically 99% not gamey and while I enjoyed it, I would have just preferred a steak. But I will give the man this: it was the best lamb I've ever tried. But then he got a little greedy :) I said that my least favorite food on Earth is goat cheese because of the gaminess. He said that goat cheese isn't gamey, to which I said, ruined his credibility haha. But he couldn't help himself and brought out some goat cheese too. I am not a picky eater but I find goat cheese repulsive, but I'll always try anything. As I first ate it, I felt like it was maybe 5-10% gamey but manageable compared to all other goat cheese. After he walked away, it began to linger a bit more to the point where I didn't enjoy it, but I didn't want to be a debbie downer. It was still much better than anything I've tried before, but I don't ever need to have it again. That said, the thought to let me try it was appreciated. As for the actual food we ordered: Garlic Bread: 4-stars. Standard, but delicious. Seafood Lasagna: 5-stars. $48 but it's delicious and has huge chunks of seafood. I loved every bite. Pasta SALSICCIE: 4-stars. My wife and I agreed that we liked this, but didn't love it. High quality ingredients but we probably would have tried something else, in hindsight. Spaghetti and Meatballs: 3-stars for me, but 5-stars for my wife. I thought the sauce was pretty watery and didn't love the flavor, but my wife loved it. This was really just for our son, but we heavily sampled it ourselves. Then for dessert, we were heavily debating between the Cassata Cake and the Banana Bread Pudding. Keeping the theme of generosity alive, they brought us both even though we choose the latter. Banana Bread Pudding: 4-stars. I liked it, but it was extremely heavy and hard to eat more than a few bites. Cassata Cake: 5-stars. A total home run. We both absolutely loved it. 6 items, 25-stars = 4.16 average, but the service, the hospitality and the interaction with the owner was so awesome that there's no way I could give anything other than 5 stars here. read more

We went to Triola's Kitchen for the hubs birthday dinner. When I made the reservation I mentioned that it was for his birthday AND that we would have split checks. When we arrived we were seated right away. It looked like you were eating at someone's house. It didn't give off a regular restaurant vibe. I did see the chef talking to other tables. Looked like he was very involved, which is nice. The menu isn't overwhelming, which is also nice. They also have featured items on a blackboard, but it was hard to read, so I had to ask what they were. Usually the server will let you know what the feature items are, but to be honest, I am not even sure who our server was because a few people waited on us. After hearing the features, I went with the pecan crusted branzino. The crust overpowered the fish. I didn't taste fish at all, and it was just a bit too sweet for me. It was the first time I'd ever had this dish, and maybe it was supposed to be that sweet, but I did mention that I'd never had it before. It would have been better if I was told that it was a bit on the sweet side. If I had known that, I wouldn't have ordered it. After we completed our meal, we were asked if we wanted dessert and was given a dessert menu. I thought that they had forgotten about it being my husband's birthday, so we all ordered dessert. They didn't mention anything about a complimentary dessert for his birthday, so I made sure that he ordered one too. After we ordered and finished our dessert they brought out a complimentary piece of cake for him. If I had known that they were going to do that, I wouldn't have ordered another dessert for him that we paid for and already ate. He was too full at that point to even enjoy the complimentary cake. I felt like that was in poor taste. Like they wanted me to buy one before they let him have a piece of cake that at that point he was too full to even eat. We all did taste the cake, and it was very good. When it was time to pay, they wouldn't let us split the bill. We would have needed it split 5 ways. I was unaware that we couldn't split the bill because I mentioned it on the reservation and wasn't told that they didnt do that. I also didn't see it posted anywhere that we couldn't split the bill. I wish I had known because we could have just gone somewhere else and avoided having to figure out who was going to pay what. Adding up this and that at the table in front of the birthday boy. While trying to figure out who owed what, my husband just said, dont worry about it, I'll just pay it. ON HIS BIRTHDAY!!! I refused to let him pay. A friend of mine finally offered to pay and I Zelled him the money even though he didnt want me to. This turned out to be a not so great dinner. Maybe I just had higher hopes. In the restaurant, this was overwhelmingly rich with a strange sweetness and heavy saltiness that had me reaching for water after every bite. However, as leftovers, the flavors mellowed out beautifully. Really wanted to like this place to support a local business, but I'm confused on its prices and what it delivers. Food was okay, but the prices are really high for what it is. Someone else commented below that they keep trying to upsell which was a little annoying. The guy kept pushing us to buy garlic bread, I think he asked 3 separate times. Nearly $30 for pasta one would expect a really upscale restaurant, but they don't even have proper wine glasses (stemless). I was really confused how this place has so many reviews and great reviews, and really wish I could like this place, and hope them the best. There are way too many other italian places like Roccos or Vinoteca with great food, better ambiance and half the price. Where do I event start? Chef Frank is amazing! I saw him helping park cars which they have complimentary valet. I also saw him helping the host and showing people to their seats. He also came by and explained the menu and specials. We decided to have the chef special and let him impress us. He did not disappoint us! The amount of food that came to the table was insane. On top of that everything we had was delicious. There wasn't one item I wouldn't order again. Lets see if I can remember everything I had, it started with the Calamari that served with their homemade marinara sauce. The Shrimp Azzarelli which are colossal Shrimp with Roma tomatoes, basil, garlic, radicchio, and arugula sautéed in white wine and lemon served with grilled garlic toast point. The Papa's Mushrooms that are mushroom caps filled with veal, breadcrumbs, topped with fontina cheese and finished with lemon-butter basil sauce. Next was the Tomatoes Stella salad which was amazing! Its sliced beef steak tomatoes on a bed of radicchio and arugula. Topped with hearts of palm, artichokes hearts and jumbo crab. Finished with balsamic vinaigrette, gorgonzola cheese dressing and American Black Sturgeon Caviar. We also had two different types of crab fingers which are not even offered on the menu! My favorite item out of everything were the Lamb Chops! These are Chef Frank's Award-Winning New Zealand rack of lamb, grilled and topped with blueberry, jalapeno and mint demi reduction! Lets not forget about the Wagyu Steaks that came out of nowhere followed by the Pappardelle Bolognese that's served with Osso Bucco sauce, beef tenderloin, Italian sausage, meatballs, and Italian brisket tossed with fresh rigatoni pasta. Then we closed it out with the dessert sampler. This was every dessert available! We had a slice of the carrot cake, cassata cake, chocolate cake, italian cheesecake, key lime pie and the tiramisu. I decided to have my birthday dinner here last weekend and it was a fantastic choice! I was looking for somewhere that had Friday night specials because I love a good deal, but that was nearly impossible. Luckily I had heard lots about Triola's via social media and decided to come here since they have BYOB with no corkage fee! They advertise as valet only (complimentary) on the weekends, so I ended up doing this. However found out that others in my party self-parked in the adjacent grass lot which the staff and valet confirmed was allowed. Had I known, I would've parked my own car. We had a reservation for 10 people. About 30 minutes prior, Megan (co-owner) called me and said that they were running slightly behind and asked if we could shift our reservation back about 15 minutes. With most of us already heading that way, we didn't mind waiting a bit once we arrived. They had to put together a few smaller tables in the downstairs area to accommodate our large party. Once we were seated, Chef Frank immediately came over, introduced himself, and explained the menu to us. We originally came with the intention of trying the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu, however Chef Frank offered to do a tasting menu for all of us and whip up his specialities. Everyone at our table agreed to do this, so without ordering anything, we handed him our menus and allowed him to take us on this journey! The first appetizer that came out was the Crab Fingers. I had never had crab claws served on a platter to me like this so it was an interesting experience. We had two plates - one came with a red sauce and the other came with a creamy white sauce. My fav was the red! It was their marinara sauce and the crab didn't taste too fishy, which is what generally detracts me from crab. The next one that came out was Papa's Mushrooms. These were packed full of veal and topped with cheese. The veal was tasty and baked with a slight crisp to it. I loved the savory lemon-butter sauce that these were served in. Next was the Calamari platter. This plate was filled to the brim with calamari and Chef even threw in some fried banana peppers too. The calamari was hot and crispy and was complemented well with the marinara sauce for dipping. Our salads came next. Chef gave each of us a half-serving of the Tomatoes Stella. This was sliced beefsteak tomatoes with arugula, artichoke hearts, palm, and jumbo crab drizzled in a basaltic vinaigrette and topped with caviar. Fancy but simple at the same time! All the flavors blended together well and was refreshing on a hot August day. The first entree that came out was the Wagyu Beef. I believe this one was off the menu, which was a treat. The kitchen did a nice job dividing everything up so that everyone got the same amount of just enough to not get full. The tenderloins were very tender paired well in the glaze they were served in. The next entree was the Osso Buco. A real treat. Our tasting menu came with 3 orders for 10 people. A good amount, so you can do the math depending on the size of your party. It came with 3 veal shanks, so I would assume 1 shank per order. The veal was so tender and fell right off the bone. The wine flavor in the sauce was prevalent and I loved it. Now my favorite. The signature Lamb Chops. These were both visually appealing and delectable. Each of us got a chop, and they were topped with a blueberry, jalapeño, and mint demi reduction. The lamb was just as tender as the wagyu beef and easy to cut right off the bone. The reduction sauce is what really made this. Very savory with a touch of sweetness from the blueberry. I scooped more of this onto my plate so that I could douse each bite of lamb in it! Finally was the Rigatoni Bolognese pasta. Not only was it a tasty bolognese sauce that I know is a labor of love, they added in the osso buco sauce and topped it with beef tenderloin, meatballs, Italian sausage, and brisket. This couldn't have been made any better! Plenty of meat to go with the thicc noods, much respect. Chef then brought out the Dessert Sampler for 10, which was split up in 3 plates so that we didn't have to pass plates down the table. These were all not too sweet and had a light texture. Chef even brought me a blueberry banana ricotta cake with a candle for my birthday. What a nice touch! Following the tour of food we just had, we were offered post-dinner cappuccinos and espressos to top off our meal. Exactly what I needed so that I wouldn't fall asleep immediately at the table! Do note that they automatically charge 25% gratuity for large groups. I'm not sure at how many people this kicks in, but with our 10 people I assumed 20% would be added. 25% minimum seems a little steep to me, especially when half of our service was the owner himself. We first tried this restaurant in October and were instantly impressed. A few weeks later, we chose it for our wedding lunch celebration--and it couldn't have been more perfect. Triola's offers family style dinner and also individual dishes which are good enough to share as well. We went with my family to celebrate a birthday and Chef Frank took care of us. It's very rare to see a Chef greeting and taking care of the customers. He was all over the restaurant speaking to his customers and making sure everyone had a good time. All the dishes that we ordered were amazingly delicious. Pasta alla Gabriella and Penne salcieccia are one of Frank's favorites and they were delicious. They do not sell alcohol but you can bring your own alcohol beverages. If you love italian food and excellent service, I recommend you try this place. You will not regret it. Food and service was outstanding. Very nice, romantic atmosphere. We went at 3 PM on a Saturday and there were only 2 other people there. We originally planned to go Pinkertons, but the line was too long. I had the chicken vincent and my husband had the chicken molica. The chicken Vincent came with sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese, and I had some mushrooms added. The flavors were outstanding. Came with a side of veggies, which were asparagus and squash and a few red potatoes. I was definitely full. We both got desserts to go. Total bill not $90 but it was worth it. After seeing all the hype online about this place, I decided it was time to finally go. We did a triple date here with a couple friends. The feel is more of like a house than a restaurant. Simple feel since the main focus is on the food and service. We started with stuffed mushrooms and calamari. I am one who would have never ordered mushrooms on my own. However these were great. Not sure the meat they were stuffed with but paired great with the cream sauce. The calamari with marinara was great. Not rubbery at all. Great portions too. My entree was not my personal favorite. However, I wouldn't not recommend it to together. The amount of olives were just a bit much for me. Lesson learned. The chef told me in the future I am welcome to ask for it without or less. Either way though my scallops were perfectly cooked. My husband had a meal with a variety of seafood and spicy marinara which was great. The dessert sampler was the perfect way to finish out the meal. They offer it with coffee or expresso. Considering the food coma I'm in I likely should have gone with this option. The cheesecake and tiramisu were my favorites. The key lime pie with chocolate chip crust also deserves an honorable mention. Please note that it is BYOB if you like to indulge. Triola's is right near our house and we have been wanting to try it out. They have valet, but also a parking lot right next door. Service is great, they greeted us and immediately provided water. It's Bring Your Own Wine which is nice. We came originally for Houston Restaurant Week but didn't order anything off the menu. We got calamari as the appetizer. Our waitress was the owner's wife and she highly recommended it and she wasn't wrong! My husband got seafood lasanga and I got the meatballs and spaghetti. Both dishes were extremely delish. I love the angel hair pasta! Dessert was good. We got cannolis (which were okay) and cheesecake which was better. definitely recommend coming for a cute little date night! read more

A bit pricey for lunch and parking can be tricky, but the food and service was so good. It is BYOB. A very intimate area downstairs and the upstairs is able to accommodate larger parties. Owners are very responsive to requests for private parties. PRO-PARENT TIP: No formal kid's menu but the Chef/Owner is able to make any side dish into a kid option. Authentic Italian (or Sicilian??) excellent cuisine. Portions are generous. Staff and chef are absolutely friendly and engaging. We were in the area and decided to try this place. Best decision. Amazing experience at Triola's for our first time. Service was excellent and everything we ordered was great. We got papa's mushrooms, penne salsiccie, and the chicken parmigiana. The entrees were large portions and just as good leftover too. We also couldn't resist the banana bread pudding for dessert which was incredible!! Definitely a great environment for a date night or girl's night with a bottle of wine. Easy parking/location and they take reservations. Food is superb! From the entrees to the deserts is a straight sleeping pill. Service is excellent. Ambiance is calming. Highly recommend!

After hearing about this restaurant from several different people, I grabbed a girlfriend of mine and made a reservation for 7pm on a Wednesday. The valet area is very small and can get backed up easily, but patience is key. We sat downstairs and Chef Frank himself took care of us for most of the evening. We brought a bottle of Vueve, which they kept chilled for us in the kitchen. We started with the calamari (9/10), and the stuffed artichoke (5/10). We then split the seafood lasagna (10/10). Such a creative dish and plenty of protein within! We ended our meal with the tiramisu (9/10). Overall, it was a great meal and included some great hospitality.
