I recently tried Il Bracco recently for lunch. The restaurant looks nice and clean but a bit cramped. Our server was super nice and helpful. For appetizers, we ordered the Crispy Artichokes and the Housemade Focaccia. The artichokes were okay but came with a decent aioli for dipping. They were light but not crispy. The focaccia came with a ricotta dip which was pretty tasty. I ordered the Al Limone pasta which came with linguine, jumbo shrimps, lemon, chives, and breadcrumbs. The 3 jumbo shrimps that it came with tasted pretty fresh, and the breadcrumbs added a nice texture to the pasta. The dish was pretty lemony but was a bit bland and just lacked flavors overall. The pasta was al dente but on the harder side, so I didn't like that too much either. Lemony shrimp pastas are usually my favorite, but this was not it. Overall I probably wouldn't go back to Il Bracco on my own. I came in with high expectations because of the good reviews, but it turned out to be pretty underwhelming.

Enjoyed our girls dinner on their patio. The food was all pretty tasty and fresh. The guest of honor was a bit upset that the server took our food before we were completely done and when she said, "I think there's still food in there," he said, "I'm pretty sure they're empty." So she was upset which put a damper on the experience. We enjoyed the eggplant Parmesan, the fish filet, the gemeli pasta and the cacio e peppe, as well as Brocollini, mushrooms, the burrata, crudo, and bread with whipped feta. The white fish in the crudo was spectacular and I later found out it was scallops! I had no idea. I'm not a fan of cooked scallops but loved this. Glad we tried it.

I came for my friend's birthday dinner and the server was super nice! The ambiance and lighting were perfect and the noise level wasn't too loud or quiet. I ordered the spicy gemelli and my friend ordered the lasagna. The spicy gemelli was a little salty and did not have as much flavor as I expected but the noodle texture was so good. It was definitely on the chewier side. It was not as spicy as I liked but adding red chili pepper flakes made it better. The lasagna was much different than we expected. The breading was super thin and crust like. The flavors of the lasagna was really good and surprised me though. The birthday girl got a complimentary dessert which was also a little salty but good and not too sweet. The tiramisu that we ordered was very strong too!

My wife and I ate here recently after being impressed by their sister restaurant Balboa Surf Club across the parking lot. Il Bracco is an upscale Italian restaurant in the shiny and sleek Post Oak area of Houston. The interior was low lit and bustling with the sounds of their open kitchen cranking out plates, the bar top full of lively chatter, and booths and tables packed with diners having a big night out. The decor was very modern but it still felt personable and warm. The dinner crowd was lively but it wasn't loud in a bad way. It felt like you stumbled upon a secret party you've been missing out on. There were businessmen closing deals over steaks, families celebrating big occasions, many a date nights, and big tables of friends clanking glasses. They offer house-made pastas, fresh seafood, and USDA prime steaks, along with a full-service bar. They're open for both lunch and dinner daily. We opted for a couple appetizers, a bottle of wine, and each ordered one of their house-made pastas. Everything came out in good time and was perfectly executed. I was very happy with my Cacio e pepe and my wife was equally happy with her order. Prices are also surprisingly agreeable considering the formal and sleek feel of the place. I want to say my pasta was something like $23? Service was prompt and friendly. Out waiter did a fantastic job guiding us through the menu as first timers and even pointed out some off menu options and regular favorites. Zero complaints about front of house. Overall, Il Bracco is a great option for celebrations, date nights, or simply one of those evenings out where you want to dress up and have some good food and people watch. We'll surely be back.

Nice outdoor seating, with a fireplace.

Nice "date night" atmosphere. Service is fast and friendly. We did a quick lunch after some shopping in the area. We had chicken kale salad, and cappuccino's. The salad were light and fresh with tender chicken and nicely done kale. The salad is simple and light (I may have wished for a little more texture or color), but the flavor was on point. The dressing had a great pop of citrus, and there was a generous amount of shaved Parmesan. The cappuccino was rich and dark and complimented the meal quite well.

This place is super elegant, very dim lighting in the restaurant, romantic vibes. Big circle bar, outdoor patio that looks cute with lights at night. The staff is super friendly everyone is really good at welcoming you in. Our waitress Emma was really sweet and bubbly and made a good rec for our dessert. The food was really good my husband is on the hunt for good cappelletti, not many Italian restaurants serve it so he was really excited to see it on the menu. I love a classic spicy vodka sauce and this was tasty! Not overly creamy, good portion size. The cheesecake was different, she said it has biscotti crust and I'm not sure what the top layer was but it was good!!! I would love to come back and try more!

Nice place to celebrate a graduation. My niece chose this restaurant to celebrate her graduation. Great service from Michelle. Started with a plate of focaccia and whipped ricotta. The focaccia is so light and buttery. It paired perfectly with the whipped ricotta spread. The five slices were just right for each of the three tables. Split a kale salad. So fresh and delicious. For the entrees at our table, we got a variety of fish and pasta entrees. Spicy gemelli. Al limone. Mediterranean sea bass. Pesto crusted salmon. The Mediterranean sea bass was delicious. The fish was paired with a gremolata mint sauce with yellow raisins. I substituted broccolini for the vegetable of the day which was roasted cauliflower. So good. For dessert, we split the tiramisu at our table. An Italian classic. A sweet way to end a nice graduation lunch. Thanks to Michelle for the great service. Love the open kitchen, the comfy booth seating and the ease of finding parking in the large lot.

The staff was super friendly and helpful when we were trying to decide what to order. Our waiter suggested the meatballs and we were pleased with how moist and flavorful they were. My husband ordered the chicken parm (which wasn't on the menu) and enjoyed it thoroughly. I ordered the Al Limone and it was delicious! The ambiance was nice and romantic. Music was playing but it wasn't so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak.

The food was amazing and the service was great. However, we were celebrating someone's birthday and we asked if they did anything for birthdays/ special occasions, and they promptly said no we only give a candle if you order something. To have spent $150+ on a celebratory dinner, I would think they could provide some type of special treat.

The ambiance and decor are nice. I thought the fresh scallops were tasty, though the salmon and tuna didn't impress me. The Italian options for starters and sides was somewhat limited, but I still found the shrimp pasta to be very good. Overall, I'm not mad at this place. I just want to see this chef's/these owners "take" carried out more in the menus since it is not the only Italian restaurant of its kind in the area. Really good dessert. Impeccable customer service.

    Steak tartare
    Arianna L.

Came here with a friend and they were able to seat us without a reservation. We ordered the steak tartare to share and the spicy gemelli pasta. The pasta was pretty pricy considering there was no protein. I would pass on the steak tartare it had a lot of seasoning that wasn't for me. The mood lighting was nice and great service with water refills and packing my leftovers to go for me. Upscale dining restaurant with plenty of parking. Valet not required which I prefer.

    Brittany M.

I've been to Il bracco a few times and each visit gets a bit worse. The service starts off strong and then descends into a puddle of nothingness. Most of the dishes are either too salty or slightly below average - except the polenta. The polenta is addicting. People in Houston love Il Bracco but it makes no sense. It reminds me of an elevated Carrabba's.

The Negroni. Super friendly bar staff. A great bar.
    Jay F.

On the night that the six of us met for dinner, there were some glitches. I decided to send my broccolini back due to saltiness. One of the chicken dishes was cold toward the center. Ragu sauce on the bolognese was lukewarm. The pasta was good. It wasn't the traditional tagliatelle, but I liked it. The kitchen is turning out decent pasta. The cantucci biscotti was over baked and dark brown. One of our party had no issues with his entree. All in all, not the best experience, I'm sorry to say. One of the managers did come to the table to see how to make things right and several of the concerned items were removed from the final bill. Much appreciated. It isn't a bad menu. But I have a gut feeling that upper management needs to oversee the kitchen to assure that what is being put out is the best it can be. All about technique. And having a cultural map to know what something should taste like intuitively, instead of just following a recipe someone gave you. Then again, if you have a chef who says "those biscotti are twice baked and that's why they look and taste like that", and I'm thinking "dude, I used to spend 3 weeks in Italy every year at Christmas, and, I bake, so I do know what cantucci are supposed to taste like" lol. I'm thinking that I might bake up a batch to show them , as, I don't want to be "that guy" who complains but doesn't offer constructive criticism or helpfulness. Update. I had told a friend about the cantucci. He was there last week and took a look at the bags of cookies. He told me "some looked okay and others were definitely over baked, overly brown". This raised a red flag about quality control in the kitchen. Perhaps because the baker is from a different country and doesn't have the culinary cultural map to know what is acceptable and what is not. Their Negroni, using a Barolo Chinato instead of Vermouth was damn tasty and I'd order it again. I might sweet talk into making in the more European way if I ever revisit.

Sandwich combo cut into thirds. Fair warning, this was really spicy to me. We had a side of brocollini and the carbonara spaghetti.

We sat on the patio and even though we were there for two hours our server never missed a beat! We ordered a bottle of Prosecco to start and he was always there right before our wine glasses were empty to refill them, and then again to get us started on something else when the bottle was gone. Our waters were never empty, as soon as a plate was cleared it was gone, as we finished a slice of pizza he was there to serve our next. The food was all lovely: we had the insalata Bianca and the arugula salad with lemon vinaigrette, we both agreed the arugula salad was our favorite, I'm not usually a fan of a salad with just arugula in it, but this was so good I'm going to go home and try to duplicate the dressing so I can make all the time! We then had the Rabiola and Salsiccia E Friarielli pizzas, both cooked perfectly, our server recommended the rabiola and so glad we got it! Finished off with great coffee and the chef brought us out these amazing little dark chocolate truffles and biscotti to go with it. Honestly, one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. First off, it's located in a cool little pocket on the East End inside Tlaquepaque Market. It looks a bit dark from the outside at night, but once you step in, it's warm and cozy. There's also plenty of parking, which is always a plus. My wife and I shared the pane along with their Valentine's Day prix fixe menu, which included an appetizer, salad, pasta, and dessert. The pane came out warm - perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The starter was a scallop with pomegranate vinaigrette that was light, bright, and a great way to open up the palate. The salad (I think it was purple kale, but I forgot to ask) was fresh and well-balanced. For the main, we had a pasta dish topped with a ribeye meatball that featured a bold sauce with tons of flavor, and the meatball had a subtle kick to it. Dessert was a cherry gelato that was simple, refreshing, and the perfect way to end the meal. They also have a solid wine selection, which paired nicely with dinner. Service was great - our server Philip was clearly busy but still made sure to check on us regularly. Overall, this is a great East End date-night spot. They also have a spacious outdoor patio that feels like it was pulled straight out of an Italian backyard. We'll definitely be back.

The Impepata Napoletana was another solid dish- loved the white wine sauce with garlic and pepper. Although it was a tad bit too salty for me, it paired nicely with the bread. The problem was the food did not match the high reviews at all. My wife's lasagna came out looking like a giant block of tofu. Her Greek salad also looked off, like a mix between a Caesar salad and something random with feta on top. I ordered the Chelidra Rossa because I love red snapper. What I got was definitely not red snapper. It tasted and broke apart like old tilapia that had been sitting for days. The dish also only came with one shrimp, which was disappointing. The pasta, vegetables, and mushrooms were bland and had no flavor. The bread was not fresh. When I asked for vinegar, they brought another oil mixture that wasn't what I asked for. The calamari came with a dried-out lemon that had clearly been sitting, and I had to ask for fresh slices. The pizza also didn't taste right, and the cheese had a grainy texture that didn't melt like normal pizza cheese. For what we paid, the quality didn't come close to matching the price. We ate maybe 10 percent of our food and left. I honestly don't understand how people are saying this place has fresh pasta and fresh ingredients. Based on our experience, it clearly did not. Anddd I'm back at the best Italian food in Houston! This time we had the Parmesan crusted asparagus…read morewith lump crab. It was SO flavorful and the crisp of the asparagus went well with the soft lump crab. The Caesar salad is our fave so it was a no brainer. For the mains we had Chilean sea bass and grilled chicken Vincent. We split the entrees into two and y'all...It was SO much. One thing I love about this place is how generous the portions are. It's always plenty. Ok let's talk desserts. The cannolis. THE CANNOLIS HOLY MOLY. Yes I've been to Italy. Yes I've been to Little Italy and hopped all over other parts of New York City. Ive had all the cannolis. I've even made my own cannolis (yes I'm a baker). However, this cannoli. Chef Triola--I salute you. I'm still dreaming about this dessert. Wow. I don't know what else to say. We also had the Key lime pie and somehow the chocolate chip cookie crust with the tang from the lime works in harmony. It was incredible per usual. All I can say is, this restaurant continues to leave me happy and satisfied. The staff is consistently attentive. The chef is very involved and personally comes out to talk as if we are guests in his home. You can tell he genuinely enjoys cooking and truly cares about his customers. I would recommend this place to everyone. If you want good quality Italian food, this is it!!
