This restaurant has it all--Fabulous food, fabulous service and I love the low-key but yet, very elegant ambiance.

At 3:30pm in the afternoon, not many restaurants are still open and serving lunch menus, but Amore welcomed me into their space and provided exceptional service for the entire meal. This was the Houston Restaurant Week experience that I didn't have planned and ended up being one of the most memorable! The restaurant exterior is very unassuming, but the interior details are fit for royalty! Shortly after being seated, they poured a small cup of olive oil and brought a plate of freshly toasted bread to the table. To start out, we ordered the Lamb Meatballs and Lobster & Shrimp Arancini. Both were served in good portions with sides of lightly salted arugula salad. For second course, we ordered the Rigatoni Al Gambero, at the recommendation of our server, and Sautéed Baby Snapper, which was another specialty here. Both were incredible, and the natural black risotto paired with the baby snapper was chef's kiss! I tried to search for the same HRW menu options in their regular menu, and I was not able to confirm its availability, but that won't be stopping me from returning. To wrap up the meal, I added a dessert order outside of the HRW menu. Typically, I always go for tiramisu when visiting an Italian restaurant, but I decided to switch up with the Millefoglie, again at the recommendation of our amazing server. And wow, just wow, the crispy layers of the puff pastry and the rich custard filling was just what I needed. Some other small details that truly impressed me: - The servers here are some of the most professional and dedicated in the restaurant industry. Although there were not many customers present in the late afternoon, the restaurant team kept busy every second prepping the tables and making something better. And they exhibited a collaborative and lighthearted working dynamic and was all smiles to everyone in the restaurant. It made for an enjoyable dining experience. - After every course, the server would bring new set of plates and eating utensils. Likely the most upscale dining experience I've had for the HRW price! - This is one of the rare restaurants that did not have a "suggested tip" in their payment receipt, so truly giving the power back to the customer to decide on the tip amount that feels appropriate. Honestly, I was truly impressed with every aspect of my dining experience at Amore and would highly recommend the restaurant to others, particularly for special occasions and celebrations. Pro tip: Parking is limited to valet or surrounding streets. I recommend Branard St as it appears to have less parking restrictions if you choose to skip valet. read more

This is one of the most disappointing restaurants I've been to in a long time and I would not recommend it to anyone. I took my girlfriend here for dinner on a Friday's night (9/25/26 at 7:30pm, seated at table 15), we had a reservation and were seated at a "beautiful view of the outside" table, the restaurant were freezing with AC blowing directly on us, but the view made it up for us. It went all downhill once we started ordering food all the way until the end, our server had such a negative attitude throughout the entire night and neglected our table a lot that we had to call over OTHER servers to help us get our server or to help us in general. We ordered appetizer Octopus, and mains Prosciutto Pizza and 2 Pappardelle (my girlfriend had some sort of nut pasta replaced for a pappardelle because it just tasted off and stinks - they did not charge us for the nut pasta). All of this came out to be $111.50 (after tax & picture attached). The octopus came out first, it was delicious, we were tempted to order a second octopus dish, it was that delicious. MIND YOU, the server asked us when we want our mains to come out, I told him just bring it all out for us. The server nodded. The next was the prosciutto pizza, it was the size of the table. We had the pizza and it was just okay, the meat were saltier and the rest of the pizza were salty too, my girlfriend asked for honey and it made the pizza somewhat bearable, we didn't finish it and just went back to our conversation. Our pizza was cold and stale at this point and the pasta dishes still haven't come out. I asked another server to get our server to check in our pasta, the server came over and made a bold face lie that he was "waiting for us to finish our pizza before bringing out the rest". I told him we werent and we asked the food to all be bought out together, he just ignored my statement and he offered to box the pizza for us. Now we're waiting for another 15 minutes before our main dishes came out. My pappardelle was delicious as expected. My girlfriend had some sort of nut pasta (I don't remember name but I will attached a picture), and it tasted super off and stink for both of us. I called a different server to replace her dish with a pappardelle that I also had, because our server was ignoring us at this point whether intentionally or unintentionally, it felt weird. Then my girlfriend had her pappardelle and she was fine, we discuss why our server and the experience we had at this restaurant so far has been quite negative in comparison to other restaurants. At this point, we're just over the entire experience, asked for a bag for our food, they gave us a plastic grocery bag all bundled up (Picture attached). Not even a paper bag, a $$$/$100+ restaurant can't afford basic paper bag. I paid and tipped (you should always tip no matter what), I left a comment on my receipt regarding the service, whether that got to the management team or not, who knows, but they only charged me for the food but not the tip so I do want to make a point of that. Also, this is a REQUIRED PAID VALET parking unless you want to park on the street super far away from the restaurant and walk over. On Amore website, they indicated valet parking is $8, but I was charged for $10 (pictures attached). It's only $2 but that feels quite deceptive and make the experience worse. We were here for lunch few weeks ago Service was very nice by Lucy (our server) Food was in between. Some was good, some not so. We saw they made pasta in house and were eager to taste the fresh pasta but it it turned out the pasta dish was not to our liking. The lamb chops and the fish was much better. Houston Restaurants Week 2025. Went with another couple to enjoy a HRW menu at Amore Italian Restaurant. Started with the summer salad. Heirloom tomatoes, watermelon, arugula, and whipped ricotta with a lemon vinaigrette. A nice starter. For the entrees, our table had the grilled prime NY strip, the Scottish salon and the grilled Australian lamb chops. The two lamb chops with an orange red wine reduction and Parmesan potatoes were okay. The NY strip served with mushroom risotto was also okay. The desserts that our table sampled were the chocolate cake with vanilla gelato, the lemon budino cake with gelato and the millefoglie. The first two choices were also okay, but the millefoglie had the most delicious homemade Italian custard. Yum. The space was nice. Parking is available directly behind the restaurant. It's $8 and you get to drive your car off by yourself. A valet price for basically a parking spot...or else risk getting towed in the surrounding neighborhood according to the valet that is there to collect the parking fees. An interesting choice for HRW. A good cause, but not one of the best HRW dinners that we've had over the years. read more

I loved everything about this place - the service was excellent, the restaurant is small but intimate, and the food was spectacular. This was everything I want in a small Italian Food restaurant. Main Course: Adriatic Sea Bass (Black truffles, lobster, leeks, & corn with creme) - Sea Bass was cooked perfectly, wonderful balance of ingredients. Food is delicious and the service is top notch! I love starting the evening with a glass of Prosecco and an appetizer or salad. Can't go wrong with the grilled octopus or tuna carpaccio. For a table side show, order the Tagliolini with black truffle and Reggiano cheese. I added some seared scallops tonight. Amore is a place I have visited quite often. The lunch service is far better. The food is a bit overpriced and the atmosphere is both stuffy and dated but I do love the pastas - I would skip the appetizers. This recent trip made me not want to visit for a while. The food was solid but the waiter was a bit pushy. I especially did not appreciate being served an extra glass of wine after I said no. Amore just didn't pass the vibe check at all. read more

Okay, I genuinely think this is one of the best Italian restaurants that I've been to in Houston. First off, the ambiance is amazing. It's very romantic and classy. It felt pretty high end when we walked in. I highly recommend making a reservation beforehand because it gets packed very easily. Also for parking, it's either valet parking ($5) or street parking. We did valet parking because we didn't want to deal with the stress of trying to find parking. The service is amazing. You're immediately greeted by the hostess as soon as you walk in. Our server was also very friendly and gave us great recommendations. I think this spot is perfect for either a date night or a double date. The tables have real flowers in the bud vases, and these cute little lamps that give a romantic ambiance. Now for the food. We ordered the following: -grilled octopus salad -potato croquettes -fileto rossini -tagliolini -chocolate cake (with vanilla ice cream) -mille foglie All of the menu items listed above that we got were SO delicious, and I would absolutely order all of them again. The octopus from the grilled octopus salad was actually very tender when cutting into it. I've never had octopus prepared that easy to cut into and chew into ever before. The components of the salad all tied together very nicely and were very refreshing. The potato croquettes were some of the best croquettes I've ever had in my life. The texture was perfect, the presentation was beautiful, and the sauce that came with it so so delicious. My fiance' got the fileto rossini (cooked medium rare), and it was so tender, juicy, and delicious. The foie gras that came with it was the perfect touch. The asparagus prepared with it was seasoned and cooked so well too. It was full of flavor. The tagliolini was one of the best pastas I've ever had. I felt like the pasta itself was housemade because the texture felt fresh but also, it was perfectly al dente, just the way I like my pasta. They prepare the mixture of the pasta with the cheese tableside, and also shave the truffle in front of you too. This pasta dish had just the right amount of truffle, without overdoing it so I can enjoy the actual taste of the pasta too. I'm still daydreaming of this dish... it was that good. Of course, we had to end the night with the chocolate cake and mille foglie for dessert. Both choices were super delicious. I loved the chocolate cake because it was warm and came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, to balance it out. The mille foglie was also very delicious too. I also got a peach bellini drink here, and it was so fresh and delicious. I definitely want to come back here again and try out other dishes, because we were genuinely so impressed with the quality of the service and food here. read more

Went for restaurant week. I got the octopus, steak, and rum cake. My gf ordered from the menu and got the lamb meatballs and bass. The lamb meatballs are a total miss for me. Very tiny and seemed like they fry it right before to get it hot to you. The steak and risotto was very good. The octopus was cool great. The Chilean sea bass was delicious! Rum cake was a bit dry. I ordered one of my favorite dishes here being the Black Truffle Pasta this week. Very delicious, high quality, moist, rich and at the same time not overly heavy either. The noodles were very soft and handmade with great freshness. The cheese was melted into the pasta table side and very tasty, savory, melted and good quality. It paired very nicely with the exotic, earthy and unique black truffle aroma, which were real black truffle pieces cut at table side too. You can tell the difference between real truffles and truffle oil stuff when you eat them at separate times. Both great, but you can't beat the real thing like the truffle in this entree. Great, friendly, hospitable service from the guys working inside and the valet guy outside. This Italian restaurant was a very positive discovery, the ambience and service were very nice. There is a street and valet parking available. As a weekday, the restaurant was pretty busy. Food was great, especially appetizers, tried: lamb meatballs, tender grilled octopus and arugula salad. Among primi: TORTELLI DI ZUCCA and RAVIOLO RICOTTA were my favorite! Decided to stop in for HRW and get some Italian. I went for an early dinner so it was very empty. There's valet but I parked on the street. Anywho, the decor was white forward, with a clean, crisp appearance. The staff was very attentive and helpful with recommendations. The wine selection is good and I settled with a chardonnay to start and a pinot noir with my meal. The starter with the yellow fin was fresh and really good. My steak was over and more like medium well vs medium. I also had a side of rapini that was great. Desert wasn't too bad although I wouldn't order it outside of the fixed menu. Ordered some delivery from here on a whim a few moments ago because I felt the sudden craving for pasta and they were throwing a BOGO. Generally BOGO deals are not much to write home about. But I can't lie to you - the penne allá vodka was seriously delicious. I was kinda shocked. I have never had such good BOGO pasta for delivery, ever. Really enjoyed our drinks and dinner at this cozy restaurant on Shepherd Drive. Comfortable, quiet, and the food and drinks were excellent.

First visit today. Excellent choices on the special lunch menu. I decided to go with the New York steak in a peppercorn brandy sauce, which was perfectly accompanied by an iceberg wedge with blue cheese and pancetta. For dessert, I had gelato and a cappuccino. A delectably beautiful dinner experience! I think I found my favorite Italian restaurant in Houston! This used to be the Maine-ly lobster roll restaurant, so now that they revamped the building into a romantic fine-dining establishment, I'm super happy to have it in my pocket when I'm in the mood for this fare. My husband and I enjoyed a great dinner from beginning to end. I had a tomato & burrata salad that was divine. This is my favorite salad anywhere and I think Amore makes my favorite one I've ever had! The pastas are so good, and so are their desserts. We had the panna cotta this time and it was perfect. The only thing that is a negative is the smell coming from... somewhere. It's not the bathroom. I only smelled it at the very beginning when we sat down and at the very end when we had paid our check and about to leave. So the food at least masks it... I have had a few medical offices in leased buildings that had this exact same smell, and it is extremely difficult to find the culprit, but I feel in my bones that it's a dead rat in the ceiling--most likely had been there since before they took over from Maine-ly. I hope they can figure out a solution because I would hate for others to make that a dealbreaker. I want to keep Amore around for the long run! read more

We were so excited to try Amore for a birthday dinner but I don't think well be coming back any time soon! - The restaurant is tiny and you'll definitely be able to inadvertently overhear your neighbors' conversation and vice versa. If you're seated close to the entrance, you might feel a draft from the traffic coming in & out. - Parking is valet in their lot behind the restaurant but there's plenty of free street parking if you're willing to walk a block or two down the street. - Truffle pasta was what I was looking forward to the most. For $48 I was expecting a wow factor but I've had the same if not better at Potente. The pasta was warm and rich but I wouldn't come back again if I were craving it. The value just isn't there. - Service was great in the beginning but as the restaurant became more packed it became harder to track down our waiter. Toward the end it felt rushed and impersonable which we were disappointed in. - The biggest strength of theirs is the octopus. It's probably the best I've ever had. - Skip the bread pudding. I stopped by for dinner at Amore Italian Restaurant for my first Houston Restaurant Weeks this year. Located off of Shepherd, it's valet only. Never a fan of that but I found parking on a side street close by. Amore is a narrow restaurant, but a pretty lengthy one, and I was seated in the back. After starting off with an iced tea, I made my selections for my three-course meal. My first dish was a lobster bisque which was delicious. Served with some bread, it's the type of dish where you want to soak up every last bite. From there, I went with the petit filet, medium rare of course, and finally the tiramisu for dessert. Tiramisu is my favorite dessert so I couldn't say no. Overall, everything was elegant and well done. The portion sizes were on the smaller side but that's sometimes what you get with HRW. It really depends on where you go. Service was standard. All in all, while I didn't fall in love (more) with Amore Italian Restaurant, I am interested in dating them occasionally. read more
