Our anniversary dinner at Amore was spectacular! The dining room is smartly appointed and has a calm and pleasurable atmosphere. We were fortunate to have Arturo as our lead server, he compliments the establishment with his hospitality and friendly demeanor. Each item the we consumed was delicious and beautiful, a treat for both the palate and the eyes. One can appreciate the skill of the staff to provide service at this level. Anticipating our every need, I never once had to ask for water, wine or to have plates removed. Arturo's suggestions were spot on and his working knowledge of food/wine pairings is obvious. This is a really comfortable space that is ready to make your special day one that may exceed your expectations. Did I mention the food? The lobster was tender and tasty. Houston Restaurants Week 2025. Went with another couple to enjoy a HRW menu at Amore Italian Restaurant. Started with the summer salad. Heirloom tomatoes, watermelon, arugula, and whipped ricotta with a lemon vinaigrette. A nice starter. For the entrees, our table had the grilled prime NY strip, the Scottish salon and the grilled Australian lamb chops. The two lamb chops with an orange red wine reduction and Parmesan potatoes were okay. The NY strip served with mushroom risotto was also okay. The desserts that our table sampled were the chocolate cake with vanilla gelato, the lemon budino cake with gelato and the millefoglie. The first two choices were also okay, but the millefoglie had the most delicious homemade Italian custard. Yum. The space was nice. Parking is available directly behind the restaurant. It's $8 and you get to drive your car off by yourself. A valet price for basically a parking spot...or else risk getting towed in the surrounding neighborhood according to the valet that is there to collect the parking fees. An interesting choice for HRW. A good cause, but not one of the best HRW dinners that we've had over the years. read more

Amore is a place I have visited quite often. The lunch service is far better. The food is a bit overpriced and the atmosphere is both stuffy and dated but I do love the pastas - I would skip the appetizers. This recent trip made me not want to visit for a while. Okay, I genuinely think this is one of the best Italian restaurants that I've been to in Houston. First off, the ambiance is amazing. It's very romantic and classy. It felt pretty high end when we walked in. I highly recommend making a reservation beforehand because it gets packed very easily. Also for parking, it's either valet parking ($5) or street parking. We did valet parking because we didn't want to deal with the stress of trying to find parking. The service is amazing. You're immediately greeted by the hostess as soon as you walk in. Our server was also very friendly and gave us great recommendations. I think this spot is perfect for either a date night or a double date. The tables have real flowers in the bud vases, and these cute little lamps that give a romantic ambiance. Now for the food. We ordered the following: -grilled octopus salad -potato croquettes -fileto rossini -tagliolini -chocolate cake (with vanilla ice cream) -mille foglie All of the menu items listed above that we got were SO delicious, and I would absolutely order all of them again. The octopus from the grilled octopus salad was actually very tender when cutting into it. I've never had octopus prepared that easy to cut into and chew into ever before. The components of the salad all tied together very nicely and were very refreshing. The potato croquettes were some of the best croquettes I've ever had in my life. The texture was perfect, the presentation was beautiful, and the sauce that came with it so so delicious. My fiance' got the fileto rossini (cooked medium rare), and it was so tender, juicy, and delicious. The foie gras that came with it was the perfect touch. The asparagus prepared with it was seasoned and cooked so well too. It was full of flavor. The tagliolini was one of the best pastas I've ever had. I felt like the pasta itself was housemade because the texture felt fresh but also, it was perfectly al dente, just the way I like my pasta. They prepare the mixture of the pasta with the cheese tableside, and also shave the truffle in front of you too. This pasta dish had just the right amount of truffle, without overdoing it so I can enjoy the actual taste of the pasta too. I'm still daydreaming of this dish... it was that good. Of course, we had to end the night with the chocolate cake and mille foglie for dessert. Both choices were super delicious. I loved the chocolate cake because it was warm and came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, to balance it out. The mille foglie was also very delicious too. I also got a peach bellini drink here, and it was so fresh and delicious. I definitely want to come back here again and try out other dishes, because we were genuinely so impressed with the quality of the service and food here. read more

Went for restaurant week. I got the octopus, steak, and rum cake. My gf ordered from the menu and got the lamb meatballs and bass. The lamb meatballs are a total miss for me. Very tiny and seemed like they fry it right before to get it hot to you. The steak and risotto was very good. The octopus was cool great. The Chilean sea bass was delicious! Rum cake was a bit dry. I ordered one of my favorite dishes here being the Black Truffle Pasta this week. Very delicious, high quality, moist, rich and at the same time not overly heavy either. The noodles were very soft and handmade with great freshness. The cheese was melted into the pasta table side and very tasty, savory, melted and good quality. It paired very nicely with the exotic, earthy and unique black truffle aroma, which were real black truffle pieces cut at table side too. You can tell the difference between real truffles and truffle oil stuff when you eat them at separate times. Both great, but you can't beat the real thing like the truffle in this entree. Great, friendly, hospitable service from the guys working inside and the valet guy outside. This Italian restaurant was a very positive discovery, the ambience and service were very nice. There is a street and valet parking available. As a weekday, the restaurant was pretty busy. Food was great, especially appetizers, tried: lamb meatballs, tender grilled octopus and arugula salad. Among primi: TORTELLI DI ZUCCA and RAVIOLO RICOTTA were my favorite! Anywho, the decor was white forward, with a clean, crisp appearance. The staff was very attentive and helpful with recommendations. The wine selection is good and I settled with a chardonnay to start and a pinot noir with my meal. The starter with the yellow fin was fresh and really good. My steak was over and more like medium well vs medium. I also had a side of rapini that was great. Desert wasn't too bad although I wouldn't order it outside of the fixed menu. Ordered some delivery from here on a whim a few moments ago because I felt the sudden craving for pasta and they were throwing a BOGO. Generally BOGO deals are not much to write home about. But I can't lie to you - the penne allá vodka was seriously delicious. I was kinda shocked. I have never had such good BOGO pasta for delivery, ever. Food average- service- I ask for three checks for what each couple ordered-one of our three couples had limited funds and usually split meals and no alcohol- the waiter said they don't do that- I explained the reason and he said he would so do but when he bought the checks he had an even amount for each of us. I ask him to split as he said he would and came back with three checks which were for different amounts but nowhere the proper amounts. I gave up and passed cash to even cost out. He ended up smoking out the entire restaurant. Thick smoke literally filled the entire space. This is what happens when the children are left unattended. There was no manager on duty and the owner was nowhere to be seen. A restaurant of this quality should always have a supervisor on site. The owner should be ashamed this happened. read more

Amore Restaurant in Houston is a complete disgrace--from its ethics to its hygiene. Let's start with the serious misconduct: According to a waiter at our table, the valet employees are calling towing companies on guests who don't use their designated lot and collecting $20 cash from neighbors in return. That's right--this business is profiting off towing scams, preying on its own customers and the surrounding community. It's not just dishonest--it's malicious. Now onto the food: it's mediocre at best, and does not justify the prices or the attitude. But worse than the bland menu is the disgusting environment. The entire restaurant smells like a public restroom, and not a clean one. The cloth napkins were stained and gave off a musty, sour odor--completely unacceptable in any dining setting, let alone one pretending to be upscale. Between the toilet stench, dirty linens, bad food, and unethical valet scam, this place doesn't need a renovation--it needs a shutdown. Avoid at all costs. read more

A delectably beautiful dinner experience! I think I found my favorite Italian restaurant in Houston! This used to be the Maine-ly lobster roll restaurant, so now that they revamped the building into a romantic fine-dining establishment, I'm super happy to have it in my pocket when I'm in the mood for this fare. My husband and I enjoyed a great dinner from beginning to end. I had a tomato & burrata salad that was divine. This is my favorite salad anywhere and I think Amore makes my favorite one I've ever had! The pastas are so good, and so are their desserts. We had the panna cotta this time and it was perfect. The only thing that is a negative is the smell coming from... somewhere. It's not the bathroom. I only smelled it at the very beginning when we sat down and at the very end when we had paid our check and about to leave. So the food at least masks it... I have had a few medical offices in leased buildings that had this exact same smell, and it is extremely difficult to find the culprit, but I feel in my bones that it's a dead rat in the ceiling--most likely had been there since before they took over from Maine-ly. I hope they can figure out a solution because I would hate for others to make that a dealbreaker. I want to keep Amore around for the long run! read more

We were so excited to try Amore for a birthday dinner but I don't think well be coming back any time soon! - The restaurant is tiny and you'll definitely be able to inadvertently overhear your neighbors' conversation and vice versa. If you're seated close to the entrance, you might feel a draft from the traffic coming in & out. - Parking is valet in their lot behind the restaurant but there's plenty of free street parking if you're willing to walk a block or two down the street. - Truffle pasta was what I was looking forward to the most. For $48 I was expecting a wow factor but I've had the same if not better at Potente. The pasta was warm and rich but I wouldn't come back again if I were craving it. The value just isn't there. - Service was great in the beginning but as the restaurant became more packed it became harder to track down our waiter. Toward the end it felt rushed and impersonable which we were disappointed in. - The biggest strength of theirs is the octopus. It's probably the best I've ever had. - Skip the bread pudding. I stopped by for dinner at Amore Italian Restaurant for my first Houston Restaurant Weeks this year. Located off of Shepherd, it's valet only. Never a fan of that but I found parking on a side street close by. Amore is a narrow restaurant, but a pretty lengthy one, and I was seated in the back. After starting off with an iced tea, I made my selections for my three-course meal. My first dish was a lobster bisque which was delicious. Served with some bread, it's the type of dish where you want to soak up every last bite. From there, I went with the petit filet, medium rare of course, and finally the tiramisu for dessert. Tiramisu is my favorite dessert so I couldn't say no. Overall, everything was elegant and well done. The portion sizes were on the smaller side but that's sometimes what you get with HRW. It really depends on where you go. Service was standard. All in all, while I didn't fall in love (more) with Amore Italian Restaurant, I am interested in dating them occasionally. read more

Came here for pasta the night before my half marathon. Was able to find parking in the neighborhood down the street. Inside was very fancy and very clean. The workers were all so so nice and welcoming. The quality of the ingredients and food was top notch. I ordered a pasta dish for ~$16. It was surprisingly very filling. The sauce and meat were great.
