Steak medium rare was more medium than rare. We decided to just take one for the team. Finished the Barolo bottle of wine and paid out. Footnote, they only had one turn of tables all night. The restaurant itself is beautiful the ambiance and décor are truly impressive. Unfortunately, the service did not match the setting. We were seated right away, which we appreciated. However, once we sat down, we weren't attended to for quite some time. I had to flag someone down just to get menus so we could begin ordering drinks. No one asked if it was our first time visiting, and there was no explanation of the menu. The menu is fairly extensive and includes several Italian terms, which made it a bit overwhelming. A brief walkthrough or even an offer to answer questions would have gone a long way. We weren't asked if we needed help or recommendations, and as first time guests, we felt left to figure everything out on our own. For a restaurant at this price point and reputation, we expected a more attentive and welcoming experience especially on a special occasion. This was the obvious NYE choice for me because of its proximity to my place, its elegance, and the solid food options. They started us off with a bread basket that included pizza slices. The pizza was actually really good, so we opted to stick with that since the regular bread didn't come with butter or olive oil. Since I'd already been here once, it was a no-brainer for me to order the shrimp and crab cheesecake- and of course, it didn't fail me. The crust was super rich, and the basil was the perfect touch (our waiter almost took it away, lol). It's not just a garnish...eat it!! We also ordered the red snapper 'La Griglia' which came with jumbo lump crab and a grilled prawn. Unfortunately, it came out cold. Not lukewarm. COLD. Our waiter never came back to check on us after the food was served, so we didn't have an opportunity to say anything. That was disappointing, because I'm sure the seafood would've tasted a lot better if it had been served hot. For our side, we got the potato latke, and that was HOT. So, so, so good. Think scalloped potatoes, but with lots of mascarpone and lemon zest. It's the thought that counts! I went for my birthday during lunch, and the food and service were absolutely spectacular. We ordered the brick chicken, spaghetti carbonara, prosciutto & arugula pizza, and a salad. Everything was delicious. I really appreciated that our server portioned the food onto our plates for us since we were sharing everything. Such a thoughtful touch! My friend and I made a reservation at La Griglia after seeing a TikTok about their Sunday brunch. We went last Sunday after Christmas and had a patio reservation, which ended up being the perfect choice since the weather was so nice. The waiters were very polite and super attentive the entire time. We ordered the Margherita pizza, the four cheese ravioli, and the lemon ricotta pancakes for dessert. The pizza was delicious -- the dough was light and crispy. The ravioli was also very good; the sauce paired perfectly with the cheese filling and had great flavor. Because it was restaurant week there was a set menu for $55 with various apps, entrees, desserts you could choose from, all of which were great options. The restaurant itself was beautiful, the service was amazing, and the food was delicious. We also ordered drinks that didn't come with the set menu, and they were both pretty and yummy. My favorite food of the night was the lamb ossobucco. Amazing bang for your buck and it was the best lamb i've had at a restaurant hands down. We came here for the first time for my birthday last year. Since I'm part of Landry select club it was awesome to find a restaurant within its affiliation. I wanted a place that I had never been to before but I also wanted to try a place that had pretty low reviews. I wanted to see if the reviews were accurate. Satisfactingly enough.. they weren't, based on my experience with my husband. When we arrived, we were greeted immediately asked about our reservation and taken to our table within seconds. It was a beautiful dining area and the way the sunlight was flooding the window it left a gorgeous glaze on our table against the wall with the mirrors. The dining room was beautiful and super chic, classy and kind of transported you to old Hollywood a bit. Not the glam aspect but the super chic and black and white and pops of neutral color palette of it all. We were asked about a beverages and my husband ordered tea. They brought the tea out as they would in most upscale restaurants.. you know, like they bring out cigars? LOL he said the tea was good so I'm happy about that. I just ordered water with fresh lemon I know ice. I knew I wanted to save my glucose percentage for dessert. Lol. We were served and, my GOODNESS, it was absolutely delicious. This is coming from a non-bread person, too! We then ordered: Hanging Hen: Whole Green Circle Farms hen, carved tableside, that serves 2. That came with roasted potatoes and then we ordered spinach as well. All the sides are family style so we didn't want to order too much as we weren't starving. (Says the person who ordered a whole hen. Ha!) Hen: 9 out of 10. Presentation was gorgeous. Portions were plenty of. And it was still juicy. The sauce it came with was the thing that sent it over for me. The hand alone would have probably been a seven but the sauce kicked it up a notch for me. My husband and I were drizzling that sauce on eeeeverything. LOL Potatoes: 8 out of 10. They were an incredibly large portion. They even had a bit of a sweetness to them. I didn't eat too many because I didn't want to get too full but I absolutely tore it up at home for my leftovers. Spinach: 6 out of 10. They were... meh. Just your standard spinach that you make when you're out of time. No bells, no whistles. Sautéed Spinach...Garlic, olive oil. Dasssit. I ordered the key lime pie for dessert and I ate every single ball. It was light and airy yet creamy and decadent. I don't know how they did it but it was absolutely delicious. Then the crumble and the berries really made the dessert outstanding for me. Now, they don't come and acknowledge your birthday or anything but they do put the little chocolate acknowledgment on your dessert and go their way. Lol. I thought service was incredible and our servers were truly attentive to our needs. Notwithstanding, they were only two couples in the dining area with us but, I've been to other restaurants where that never mattered and they still neglected me so.. I was happy about that. We spoke to the manager and he was actually the one who carved our hand as well. He was kind and personable. We had an outstanding experience. We will absolutely visit again! WOW! I want to start by saying that the Shrimp & Crab Cheesecake was one of the best dishes I've had in my entire life! I would go back specifically for this because it was just so amazing! It had baked mascarpone, jumbo lump crab, shrimp and lemon pesto. As soon as we walked in, I knew we were in for a treat because the restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff is very professional. I started with the Garden Thyme cocktail which honestly was not my favorite. We had some bread as we waited and it was so good! For my entrée I had the Short Rib Cappelletti (with sage beurre limon, Prosciutto di Parma, peas) and it was very tasty. For dessert my friend and I shared the Key Lime. Of course we got the delicious pizza slices they serve when you arrive, love those. We all ordered and got drinks, but somehow we never had an assigned server, and it was not a problem until it was. Every time we wanted to order something, we didn't know who to call, no one will come and check on us, it was very disappointing. I finally made it to the new location for a group holiday lunch. It still felt more like the old Vincent"s/Nino"s than the old La Griglia but we enjoyed it. What I ate: southern salad was just ok. Kind of a strange first course for the meal we were having since it had chicken. A nice spring mix or Caesar would have been great. The salmon was delicious and perfectly prepared. Also excellent were the spinach and polenta sides. Highly recommend the polenta! And the bread basket, of course. We had the fancy cookie presentation and it was fun to try a few different things. Delicious with their coffee. Service was attentive and helpful, other than the hostess who was clueless about parking validation and not very friendly or helpful in general. This ruined the ambiance and my appetite a bit. The food was ok. Not spectacular. Drinks were good and had nice presentation. Parking is valet only I believe which for lunch was a few dollars. We were excited to try the HRW menu and started off with hamachi crudo and cheesecake and while the cheesecake was delicious, the crudo was insanely spicy and SO FISHY we did not eat it. For mains my fiancé got the lamb ossobuco and it was amazing, while I got the flounder which was so overcooked. Our waiter suggested a side of broccolini with the fish since it was just a small filet and definitely wouldn't have ordered it had I known that was a $15 side.....for broccolini. Just so disappointed and probably should've made a bigger deal about our bad food to our waiter but if I ever go back I will get the lamb it was so tasty and perfectly cooked! The restaurant is gorgeous in decor: fresh contemporary glam, perfectly enhanced by Sinatra's crooning and the white tuxedo clad servers. Most of the servers were polished and congenial, although one in the bunch was slightly rough around the edges. As for the food, I was a tad disappointed that the bread did not come with any butter or olive oil or anything at all, because, with the exception of the delicious strips brushed with tomato, the bread was hard and dry. I expected food bread from La Griglia. The apps: the burrata Pugliese was fresh, creamy, and delightfully zippy. The shrimp and crab cheesecake was highly recommended, yet I found it to be merely "ok." The mushroom raviolo lacked the truffle punch I was hoping for. The mushroom risotto was under seasoned and underwhelming, but the Red Snapper was excellent: tender, flaky, and wonderfully flavorful. For dessert, we tried the Italian cookie sampler, which impressed in presentation but didn't wow in flavor. While the evening was pleasant, I don't see a return visit in my future. read more

The restaurant has a classy, yet welcoming interior and we were shown to a large table with plenty of lighting and space. Our server was attentive and really listened to what we were all looking for in our meal and answered all of our questions. And although our group had several people, the service was timely and we all received our dishes around the same time. And the food was *chef's kiss*. I had the Frutti Di Mare and it was full of delicious treats, such as plenty of shrimp and clams. The noodles were soft and were covered in a rich sauce that unified the entire dish. I love Italian so my friend and I have been trying Italian places all over recently. We finally made it here. I've lived in Houston all my life and I'm not sure why I never heard of La Griglia. This restaurant has a nice upscale vibe. It's a very well designed space. None of the guests were super casual. There's valet, which was $3, I believe, during lunch hours. More for dinner. There's also a little street parking. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table, which we enjoyed. Our server was nice and helped with recommendations. There was bread for the table, which is actually like small pieces of flatbread pizza. So good! Wasn't expected that from "table bread". We had the shrimp & crab cheesecake to start, and I have to say that was my favorite thing. I would absolutely get it every time. Such a unique item and packed with flavor. For my main course, I had the lamb with risotto. Great flavor, tender and juicy. And for dessert I had some sort of chocolate cake, and whoa it was huge, and way too much sweet for me. I am a tequila girl so I requested Mezcal. I had to have 2 of them!!! Our waiter was knowledgeable and helped guide our choices. The manager came over and introduced himself and made sure our evening was going well. The next morning a representative from the restaurant called and thanked me for dining with them. Took me a while to get in to the new La Griglia, but I'm glad I finally made it! We were sat inside just across from the bar, idk what it was but it was a little loud/difficult to hear each other across the table. The patio looks so dreamy and nice and at least they have fans and heaters outside, but I don't know how it fares for the height of houston summers. On to the drinks- enjoyed both of mine- the Gimlet citrusy and refreshing; the Bellini Saggio with dramatic presentation, slightly sweeter. We always do family style and these were our picks. Mussels and Clams- delicious, doesn't come with any bread but the table bread will do JUsT fine. Speaking of- the table bread had pizza, a poppy seed bread and sourdough. All lovely. Autumn salad- perfect portion to split and loved the balance of flavours here Carbonara- appetizer portion was a bit small split 5, good but nothing special. shortrib Cappaletti- loved the nice thin pasta, good flavour, could see this being a bit dry/meaty Dessert- had to get the Key Lime; it was a nice delicate dessert but personally I love the punch of key lime and this could have used a touch more. For last minute on Valentine's Day they took our reservation later than normal. They moved locations so it was hard to find the new location! They only do valet at the new location on west Dallas street. The new location is a more modern black and white setting than the old one. They still have waterfalls outside but the inside doesn't anymore but still very fancy. I of course order the shrimp and crab cheesecake and we plan on ordering five next time we go back. For drinks we got the freezer martini which I loved and he got a blue cheese martini which was delicious. We couldn't decide what to eat so we ordered appetizer sides pretty much of everything. Alfredo ravioli was SO good and hard to not order another plate of, Cesar salad was average, just needed a little pepper. Maine lobster bisque soup was great and could easily been enough with the amount of lobster they put in it. I was not a fan of the mussels which I had last time I was there as an entree but this one was too salty for me taste and lacked pasta. He ordered the veal Parmesan which he normally loves. It was very good as well but I wouldn't take a bite because I don't agree with how veal is raised. He still enjoyed it but agreed next time we will go with chicken Parmesan instead. We got dessert to go of course cheesecake for me but I ended up eating his key lime pie instead. Normally not a pie fan but they were so good! The shell especially if I think mousse made me actually like it. Also, not sure if it was a valentines thing or not but they had an appetizer of a pizza like bread when we got there.
