Nestled inside Hotel Daphne is a fabulous little resident made for an intimate date or celebrations. Service is stellar and you quickly feel well taken care of. We started with the focaccia, housemate, and added the whipped ricotta with pistachios. The bread was amazingly light with a crisp crust and the whipped cheese and pistachio combination was better than butter. We also ordered the prawns with pepperoni crust which arrived on a bed of bread that absorb all the drippings from the pepperoni and prawns. The bread alone was a flavor bomb. For entrees we had red snapper and braciole. The snapper came on an herbal sauce and was delicious. The braciole was surrounded by grape tomatoes which I ignored. The braciole itself was well executed. Since this was a birthday celebration, the dinner was ended with a complimentary raspberry sorbet. A worthy place for celebration.

Five stars. Valet was friendly and complimentary. The lobby of the hotel was amazingly beautiful. The food. So good. The burrata with the pepper was so good with the sourdough! Ceasar was yummy and fluffy. The prawns were so good. The alla vodka we couldn't add chicken. They should work on that. Seems like a simple fix. Drinks also super tasty. Just a great all around dining experience with Rachel as our server.

Beautiful restaurant and really good food, although I will say the appetizers were the stars of the meal. The house-made focaccia was some of the best I've ever had. Also loved the lamb meatballs and black truffle arancini. For dessert, we shared the tres leches tiramisu although frankly, it was so good I could have finished it myself. Service was also very on point all evening.

The restaurant is such a vibe! Beautiful inside and out, even the restrooms. We went during lunch service, so there were only sandwiches available. The focaccia was very tasty. We liked the Ashland. The pistachio pie was a tasty surprise, did not expect the agar, but it worked! For dinner, recommend bread service with ricotta and pistachios and squash blossoms.

This place is all about the atmosphere and ambiance. It's absolutely beautiful--set in a stunning hotel in a gorgeous area. Honestly, you don't even feel like you're in Houston. The vibe is just right, especially sitting outside where the noise level was perfect for a relaxed experience. The service was good overall, but I wasn't very impressed with the menu. That said, the mozzarella cart was a standout, and the lamb meatballs were also delicious. Unfortunately, the main course didn't quite live up to expectations. I would definitely come back for drinks, appetizers, and to enjoy the ambiance--it's worth it for the experience alone.

Great new Italian restaurant inside Hotel Daphne in the Heights! It is a sister property to Perseid/Hotel Saint Augustine - so you already know it's going to be great! It is fairly small, so try to get a reservation if you can. However, this is also a plus, because it makes the space feel all the more intimate. Everything we ate was delicious. Be sure to try the mozzarella cart! They mix it table-side and it is so fun.

A new gem! We came here on a Saturday night for dinner - had to make reservations about a week in advance and even then we could only get patio seating for an early dinner. So definitely make reservations in advance! We took the patio seating opportunity to bring our pup, since they're dog friendly. Located at the Daphne Hotel, the ambience is really nice and trendy. The patio was beautiful and is definitely going to be a popular place to hang out as the weather warms up. The food was all great! Homemade focaccia with ricotta spread and pistachios- 4/5. Can't go wrong with bread and cheese. Squash blossoms - 5/5- these were fried and filled with some sort of cheese. Very tasty - felt almost like an elevated jalapeno popper. Squid ink radiatori- 4/5 - this was tasty and different! Definitely had a spicy kick to it and I liked the texture difference with the fried calamari on it. Snapper - 5/5 - this was my favorite - perfectly cooked and crispy. Service was really friendly and quick. We'll definitely be back to hang out on the patio for some cocktails!

Hypsi at The Daphne Hotel has a very chic, hip vibe and beautiful décor. Service was friendly but not especially attentive. The wine pours were very generous. We started with the lamb meatballs, beef tartare, and grilled octopus. The lamb meatballs were delicious and comforting, served with yummy toasted buttered bread. The grilled octopus was very flavorful and nicely cooked. The beef tartare was presented on top of a piece of bread, which was different, but I didn't love it. For entrées, we ordered the Cavatappi, Beef short rib brasato, Duroc pork Milanese, and Roasted snapper. The Cavatappi was hands down everyone's favorite dish. It was creamy, incredibly flavorful, not too heavy, and it just melted in your mouth. The roasted snapper was my second favorite. It was light yet robust with flavor. The short rib brasato was a bit dry and underwhelming. The Duroc pork Milanese was my least favorite. The pork was very bland, and the dandelion salad on top had a strange flavor that didn't work for me. For dessert, we tried the tres leches tiramisu and the pistachio pie, and unfortunately both were disappointing. The tiramisu portion was generous but all the ladyfingers and coffee flavor were concentrated at the very bottom. The pistachio pie was a miss for the whole table. It initially tasted like key lime pie. The top raspberry layer tasted citrusy orange and clashed badly with the pistachio base layer. None of us enjoyed it. That said, the atmosphere and the Cavatappi would bring me back. Next time, I'd love to try the roasted beets which looked really good.

Loved!! We went for a quick drink and snack and then the next morning for breakfast and both were great. Calamari with afternoon drinks was perfect - loved that it was not the same-old breaded calamari, they use cornmeal, it is really well-seasoned, and they serve it with a delishhhh arrabbiata sauce for dipping! Drinks are great, talented bartenders (shout out to Aaron) making signature cocktails but also being creative with some special ingredients! We sat on the patio and it was perfect! Breakfast was exactly what we needed, we sat inside at a lounge table and felt right at home but surrounded by beautiful decor, warm colors, great art, and very comfortable furniture! The breakfast sandwich was SO good. Perfect country style sausage, and croissant bun. We also got the waffle and the usual - the bacon is bonkers - so thick, loved the potatoes and the waffle was soooo good - get the waffle for the table, you will not regret it!

Came here for an early dinner after work. Ordered a lemon drop martini, focaccia, the beef short rib w Brussel sprouts, and the tres leches tiramisu (dessert to go). Everything was delicious. I feel like it's been a while since a dish stopped me in my tracks but the short rib did just that. From the start, I enjoyed my time here. I parked on the street, was met by the hostess who was so sweet! My waitress was also very friendly. The atmosphere and decor definitely has Instagram potential but in a classy way and non a neon-sign-catchy-slogan kind of way. Take your gal on a date night here! Order the short rib! It would be great if it had more options for someone with food allergies. There wasn't a lot of gluten free options.

After the closure of Elro I was happy to see Terrence Galivan back in the mix with this new restaurant in the heights. I have been a couple of times since they opened in mid December and have been very impressed with both the food and decor. Good service, cool bar scene and even a cozy fireplace. Top dishes include the mozzarella cart, lumache alla vodka and roasted chicken. Also highly recommend the chocolate souffle! Excited to see how this restaurant evolves with the expansion of the hotel.

Had dinner at Hypsi recently and really enjoyed the experience. The food was delicious, and the portion sizes were perfect for sharing, making it a great spot to try a few different dishes. The drinks were yummy, and everything we had was well worth ordering. The service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. The timing of some dishes coming out was a little different than expected, but it didn't affect the experience much. The atmosphere was definitely a standout--the vibes were immaculate. Cozy, stylish, and perfect for a date night. I'd happily come back and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great dinner spot with a fun, romantic ambiance.

Came for the first week of being open. The hotel and this restaurant are such a great cohesive design. It drips with elegance and comfort. The front hostess was so very nice upon arrival and gave us a great background on the hotel and restaurant. We got some lovely cocktails which all were perfect flavors and complimented the meals flavors very well. Tried the octopus and the cavatappi. Both were very decent but think there is room for the dishes to have a bit more flavor. Will definitely be back for happy hours to try more cocktails and appetizers.

The interior is pretty casual with a full bar in the middle. Our server was friendly and made couple solid recommendations on appetizers. Two dishes stood out for me: Watermelon and tomato salad - this is my favorite thing from the dinner, the sweetness from the watermelon worked surprisingly well with the balsamic glaze and pesto, very refreshing. TexQueno - nice cheese stick made with Venezuelan cheese, paired well with the cilantro sauce. We also tried the shrimp ceviche, which was solid, but nothing too special. For the main, we went with pastas, which were let downs. For the Cioppino Linguini, the seafood was overcooked, the pasta texture wasn't great, and the dish tasted pretty bland and lack the garlicky tomato flavor you'd expect from a traditional Cioppino Linguini. The wild mushroom pasta had a bit heavy sauce, also not the best pastas, but the mushrooms were cooked well.

We ended up leaving with the Salva Cremasco (my BF's pick) while I chose a random interesting-looking cheese called Screamer--because sometimes the mystery pick just calls to you. Half the fun here is getting to try cheeses you'd probably never think to bring home otherwise. The Salva Cremasco was surprisingly easy to love. Mild, buttery, and savory in a way that felt approachable rather than intimidating, with a smooth semi-firm texture that got creamier as you ate it. At first, it tasted very clean and milky with a light nuttiness, but the finish had this subtle earthy, almost mushroomy/vegetal note that kept things interesting without ever becoming funky or sharp. It felt like the kind of cheese you accidentally keep cutting "one more slice" of until suddenly... half of it is gone. We were also sold on trying the FLUFF Bake Bar cookies made with goat milk, which honestly felt very on-brand for the whole experience. Dangerous place for impulse purchases--but in the best possible way. What really keeps making this place memorable, though, is the people. I love the knowledgeable and warm welcome we always get from the staff. Even on a visit that barely lasted 15 minutes, they somehow still made the experience feel memorable--like you stopped by to chat with people who genuinely love what they do and want to share it with you.

A small, discreet shop with a backyard-like parking lot, it's unassuming on the outside but full of character on the inside. Upon entering, you're welcomed with samples of the five cheeses of the week, generally going from soft to firmer and stronger. Their cheeses are displayed in a small fridge, but you can always request varietals ahead of time if you've got something in mind. We bought blue cheese they had on sample (the "Ewe Calf to be Kidding" from Wisconsin, a triple-milk (sheep, cow, and goat)) and the last of their Capricorn Goat Blue cheeses for about $10/piece. Since they rotate out their cheeses weekly, it may become a regular stop on our weekend grocery trips (they mention that many people do that). They also mentioned that their wines rotate out and they have a good relationship with local distributors to understand what pairs well with their cheeses. They also let you start an account so that you can keep a history of all the cheese you buy. You better bet that I signed up. They're celebrating their 20 year anniversary in Houston. I wish I had come earlier to experience some of those years. It's got to be a cornerstone of Houston cheese and probably the among the best cheesemongers in Houston.
