Order-to-Appetizer: 15 Minutes Order-to-Entrees: 30 MInutes For three people, we ordered: Dairymaid's Cheese Board (4/5): Comes with four cheeses, five small pieces of sourdough, honey-spritzed grapes, green Granny Smith apples, and fava beans. I wish they gave us more bread with the cheeses and preserves. The four cheeses provided were slices of a five-year aged Cheddar, Oveja Anejo, Tomarashi, and Gruyere. I enjoyed the Tomarashi the most. It is a bit pricey for what you get, but very sharable and a great starter. Shady Acres Pizza with prosciutto (3.5/5): I really don't like getting thin crust pizza that isn't crispy, and unfortunately this was a soggy thin crust pizza. The toppings themselves were very flavorful, and the end parts were crispy enough. 5 Cheese Calzone with chicken (3.5/5): Whew, five cheeses makes for a salty calzone. The side marinara sauce provides a good balance. It's very filling. Chicken might have been a good addition because prosciutto might have made it too salty. It was larger than expected which was nice for sharability. Service was kind of iffy. They were pretty rude with not providing us utensils and seeming almost angry that we asked for some for the cheese board. They mixed up our order (we asked for chicken on the pizza and prosciutto on the calzone and they flipped it) and seemed almost apologetically serving us afterwards. Service -3 out of 5 The server quickly greeted us but she was a little off. She stated her name but was looking away from us when she did it. She'd bring our food and then disappear for a while. Lovely spot in the heights! I love the vibe here, the patio, the private room for large parties. Pizza however is just 'okay'. My party and I came here and found the pizza to be fairly mediocre. We had the Taleggio Florentine, Shady Acres, The Caliano, and the San Fran. Out of the four, we found the Caliano to be the best with the grilled chicken, bacon, avocado, smoked gouda all complimenting each other with honey siracha and home made ranch. Truffle fries and tipsy calamari were great shareables for us and we thoroughly enjoyed those. Our server was extremely friendly and very patient with our large group that walked in. What a lovely little spot to enjoy a lunch or happy hour in the heights. You cannot bit this spot for lunch. I enjoyed a very generous "personal" sized pizza and a side salad off of the lunch menu. They were out of some of the ingredients for my sister's drink so she had to get another option. She didn't really enjoy the second drink but did not want to bother the waitress. The drink i had was disgusting so I ordered a drink I typically drink at other restaurants. It was ok but I could have done without it. The chicken parm dish was sweet and had a nutmeg flavor which was weird. The shrimp and polenta was a tad bit salty but it was flavorful. We came in a big group of 4 families on Sunday around 11 am for brunch. The parking lot was spacious. It was my first time and we came for a Bingo event. The server was super awesome and patient with all the kids. Thankfully there is an outdoor patio area where the kids burned off some energy while waiting for the food. Wife and I took some friends for their first visit to Crisp. As always Crisp and the staff never disappoint. Our waiter was great and very tentative through the evening. We were there well after closing and no rush was put on us. Our waiter and the staff were more than accommodating and very patient with us. Date night on a Friday in mid July in the week of hurricane Beryl. We made a reservation on OpenTable and were seated promptly when we arrived. The location is welcoming with the restaurant located in a nice neighborhood near Ella blvd and the interior is inviting with smells of garlic, mozzerella, and wine. The restaurant was somewhat packed although a couple tables remained open when we arrived. As a modern italian restaurant, there's an extensive wine list and plenty of pizza, pastas, salads, and entrees available. Wines available by the glass are aplenty with a few italian wines available. For appetizers, the arancini is a great option with the orange/thyme vinagrette that gives a sweet citrus flavor to the saffron herbs. I also enjoyed the Caesar salad which is garnished with a toasted parmesan and anchovie on top. For entrees, my girlfriend ordered the eggplant fetuccini and I ordered the shady acres pizza with chicken. The pasta was tender although a bit watery with the sauce; my girlfriend nonetheless enjoyed it. The pizza had good flavor with the mushrooms and veggies with the sauce. The texture was a bit chewy but I'd order the pizza again. Service-wise, there were times were we had to flag our server down for things including silverware and plates for the appetizer and to share the pizza. They were attentive when we sat down upon entering but after our first drink order, it seemed they forgot about us. I also didn't get my second glass of wine (ordered after finishing the appetizer) until after we were nearly done with our food. Not sure if they are short-staffed or if it was the effects of Beryl but service didn't have the urgency we were hoping for. It's a shame because the food is really solid. And mind you, there were like two bites from the whole pizza, he hadn't eaten even a full slice of it. Also it definitely looked like a chunk of a broken pint glass, not plastic. New pizza came, rest of night pretty uneventful. They comp'd the $10 kids pizza. For my dinner I got a pasta with gluten free pasta and was assured it was gluten free dish (I have celiac with severe gluten reaction). Got home that night, not feeling well, shortly after very sick. Definitely something about my dish was not gluten-free. Now reading some other reviews seems multiple people have gotten gluten contamination here. So I would not recommend eating here if you have Celiac or gluten allergy. All in all, I don't think any of our group will be coming back. I get that accidents happen, but managerial response to the glass in food without even a thank you seemed really inappropriate. After 5 yrs not much has changed. The pizza is okay. Nothing that makes you want to travel across town to get it. I mean they can't even cut the pizza fully so you have rip and tear it apart. Menus are poorly labeled. The lunch menu is only Monday through Friday so that changed the ordering process. A friend and I decided to take our pups for a walk and stop at Crisp while out and about. I love that they have a dog friendly patio and a nice outdoor seating area. Once seated, the server brought out a water bowl for each of the dogs and had it filled with ice water which my pup loved. The server then quickly came over to get our drink order. My friend ordered the espresso martini and I said I'd try hers before selecting what I wanted. It took forever for it to come, but eventually it was brought out. Everything came out good for the most part except for my wife's salad where she asked for shrimp instead of chicken. Alex promptly had a new order put in to correct the issue. They have a large patio with fans for outdoor seating. There is also a very large parking lot, which is pretty hard to find for a restaurant in the heights. The goat cheese marinara appetizer was very good, I love their garlic bread here. The chicken & waffle sandwich is ginormous! Some dishes are hit or miss but overall this place is pretty solid. The marinara and goat cheese appetiter alone is worth the trip. We had a cold snap and I had short ribs on the brain so we decided to try theirs out. We started with the marinara goat cheese app which I've had several times and is damn delicious. Now, the short ribs. The meat itself was really good! It was tender and lean as far as short ribs go and it was a pretty large portion. There could have been a little more polenta to balance out the honking portion of meat but more importantly it tasted really good; however, the braising liquid reduction was crazy salty.
