Great date spot! I came here on a Thursday night with a friend and we ordered wine and hotdogs. What blew me away about this place was the ambiance. The place was dimly lit and there was a lot of seating, both indoor and outdoor. A lot of the seating inside was arranged as couches with low tables, which made for a very casual and relaxing vibe, while the overall atmosphere remained very classy. - Padre's Hotdog (4.5/5): I was told by my friend that this was the best hotdog ever so I had very high expectations and I wasn't disappointed. The bread was very buttery and nicely toasted. The frank itself was very juicy and I loved how the pico and mustard help cut through the fat. The thing that made this hotdog stand out was the cheese sauce. The cheese sauce was delicious and I could probably have just eaten that alone. One thing though, the hotdogs were a bit on the smaller size, you probably would have to order something else or a second hotdog if you were hungry. Would come back again just for this hotdog! I really enjoyed the vibe of Padre's Wine--casual, fun, relaxed but still elevated. The wines we tried were great, and I really liked that they narrowed the wine menu and it wasn't too exhaustive/intimidating. While it's a wine bar, you really could go there for dinner too--the food menu looks delicious. Love, love love this place! I went for the first time the other evening and I was obsessed as soon as I walked in the door. The space is very minimalistic, but homey at the same time. There's lots of seating such as couches, chairs, and tables. It was seat yourself as well. The staff was also incredibly friendly, I liked how there wasn't a specific uniform that they had to wear. This made the experience feel more personable and welcoming. We got the bread service and the Westrey Pinot Grigio on the staff selections menu. The bread service was divine! I loved the buttery toasty bread and the focaccia bread and it paired perfectly with the yogurt and jam, cheese, and homemade butter. The wine was crisp and tasty as well. Unfortunately, it was wet outside so I wasn't able to see the outdoor seating but inside, there ample space for seating. There were only two people working but they were attentive as they can be. They have monthly menus. We decided on the hamachi crudo -- so tasty. Fish was tender and not chewy, citrusy flavor. Steak - had flavored salt, various dipping sauces, a creamy peppercorn, spicy wasabi or horseradish one, and a sweeter sauce. The steak was very tender and cooked well. The hot dog, probably one of the best ones I've had. The warm crusty potato bun was awesome. The hot dog toppings complimented it so well. Would come again for another one Pretzel was served warm, tasty cheese and mustard sauce too. The vanilla ice cream with caviar was a first for me. The caviar had hints of savory salt. Once parked, I walked in through the back patio area and then into the bar/ store where I was greeted and help was offered. I looked through the store and then made my way to the bar to order. I loved that the gentleman behind the bar allowed me to try a few different wines before I had to select one as there so many blends I hadn't heard of, I may not have liked the one I picked. I also thought it was a nice touch that they have a large basket of blankets available for in case you get cold while you're there. I settled on a glass of the Zweigelt and was very happy with the selection. As for prices, they have a wide range of options and the majority of them are very reasonable. Padre's is a wine shop, bar, and restaurant all in one located in the Heights. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice--great for an intimate date night or dinner with close friends. The inside has limited seating, but there is also outdoor seating, as well. We went during brunch for the first time. The brunch menu only had a few options and was very limited, and we were inquired about the oysters that they had for dinner. The service was great! The server and kitchen were kind enough to provide us with oysters despite it not being on the lunch menu. The oysters came on a plate of ice and was fresh at an amazing price of $2 each with pipettes of jabanero sauce. We also got the mimosa and steak frites. I enjoyed the mimosa, as it had a great balance of blood orange to prosecco. The steak was on the thicker side and came out more raw than we expected. Although the outside had a nice char, the inside was very raw. Usually we get medium rare, but I felt like a vampire chewing on a raw slab of meat. The steak was seasoned, though, and paired well with the sauce provided. Because we are in the Heights, parking is limited, but they do have an area designated for the location on the sides and parallel parking in front and across the street. I learned that they have wine tasting every Thursday. I was exposed to some very different Texas wines. One was a blend of moscato, cab, white, etc. it's was different and fun. I went with bae, but can't wait to go back with my girl. They also have food. I had the cooked and raw oysters. They both were delicious. Staff were so accommodating for our group of 10~ We met here on a Monday night for girls night/book club. Everyone was able to order their own wines and foods on their own tabs which I always appreciate. We moved chairs to fit everyone and tried moving them back when leaving but they were adamant on us leaving them I thought the food was great for a wine bar, price and quality wise. I'm not sure if it was just this specific day or Mondays in general but oysters were basically half off! $1.50/each for 6 = $9. Regularly it's 3 oysters for $9 BLT surprised me. Outstanding. We've been to this wine bar three times and probably tried every single food item they over. They are so delicious!! Their east coast oysters come with a little habanero squeeze bottle that adds so much flavor! Their duck gumbo is thick and packed with richness and depth. Their hotdog is so simple yet it has a perfect balance of meaty, cheesy and the pico cuts through and rounds out the bite. We went back for their hotdog day!! We have a 100 lb service dog and they brought him water and were so respectful when asking about him or trying to give him attention. The staff is the stand out even with all the amazing food and oh wine (they sell the bottle in their store so it makes it easy to stop for a drink and pick something up for the house).
