Staff selection wine menu

Love, love love this place! I went for the first time the other evening and I was obsessed as soon as I walked in the door. The space is very minimalistic, but homey at the same time. There's lots of seating such as couches, chairs, and tables. It was seat yourself as well. The staff was also incredibly friendly, I liked how there wasn't a specific uniform that they had to wear. This made the experience feel more personable and welcoming. We got the bread service and the Westrey Pinot Grigio on the staff selections menu. The bread service was divine! I loved the buttery toasty bread and the focaccia bread and it paired perfectly with the yogurt and jam, cheese, and homemade butter. The wine was crisp and tasty as well. This is the perfect spot to catch up with friends or for a date night. I will be back!

Such a lovely atmosphere, our waitress gave perfect recommendations for wine! The bread was also delicious.

Caviar & ice cream with a glass of rosé.. MUST TRY!

Super cute, chill vibes for a casual wine bar to stop by after work and hang out for lunch and dinner time. Love the open, bright, airy feel inside and the backyard space outside. Treated like family. Came for their caviar ice cream and did not disappoint one bit.. SO GOOD. Highly recommend.

Inside area near the bar. Very comfortable and nice.

If I could give it more stars, I would! I'm not sure if the gentleman who helped us (Mauricio) is a manager or the owner, but he had an extreme amount of knowledge regarding the wines we asked about. For food we got a cheeseboard and popcorn and nothing disappointed us. The ambience is very comfortable and relaxing. And they have a little wine shop in front so you can buy what you like. While we sat inside their outside patio looked pretty cute as well. I will definitely go back!

I'm so happy to find another wine bar close to me. I came on a weeknight, at first it was chill then there was a steady buzz of people. Unfortunately, it was wet outside so I wasn't able to see the outdoor seating but inside, there ample space for seating. There were only two people working but they were attentive as they can be. They have monthly menus. We decided on the hamachi crudo -- so tasty. Fish was tender and not chewy, citrusy flavor. Steak - had flavored salt, various dipping sauces, a creamy peppercorn, spicy wasabi or horseradish one, and a sweeter sauce. The steak was very tender and cooked well. The hot dog, probably one of the best ones I've had. The warm crusty potato bun was awesome. The hot dog toppings complimented it so well. Would come again for another one Pretzel was served warm, tasty cheese and mustard sauce too. The vanilla ice cream with caviar was a first for me. The caviar had hints of savory salt. I don't know if I would order that again but it was cool to try. They have lots of wine to choose from and it was all reasonably priced. I would love to return. They have street parking available as well as some along the sides of the building for dedicated spaces.

The way I'm still sitting at the table and having to leave this review because I'm so SHOOK! ( in a good way) I've been here a couple of times, and I've always had great service, delicious wine, and a chill vibe. Today, instead of getting a board, I got a hot dog, and it was so good - one of the best I've had. The fact that this laid-back, aesthetic wine bar is serving delicious food too makes it .

A friend and I decided to go to Padre's Wine Bar after work for a glass of wine and a quick bite. I was pleased that they had their own lot with plenty of parking as I arrived. Once parked, I walked in through the back patio area and then into the bar/ store where I was greeted and help was offered. I looked through the store and then made my way to the bar to order. I loved that the gentleman behind the bar allowed me to try a few different wines before I had to select one as there so many blends I hadn't heard of, I may not have liked the one I picked. I also thought it was a nice touch that they have a large basket of blankets available for in case you get cold while you're there. I settled on a glass of the Zweigelt and was very happy with the selection. As for prices, they have a wide range of options and the majority of them are very reasonable. M-W they also offer flights which seems to be a great deal! I loved the ambiance of the back patio, the kind staff and the great wine so I'll definitely visit again!

This is a really cute place in the Heights. The menu was limited, but what we tried was mostly good. The pretzel and hotdog were delish! I would like more cheese sauce for the pretzel but would definitely order it again. The charcuterie board was pretty but just okay in content and flavor. We had a red wine, which was lovely. The atmosphere is very casual in decor and vibe. It felt like a coffee shop but with wine and bites. The service was very friendly and welcoming, and I look forward to another visit.

Such a cozy experience especially yesterday when it was cold, everyone working there is highly knowledgeable and kind. We were recommended the hotdog which was great. We also had the bread which was lovely. Both the dessert wines were EXCELLENT. The oysters honestly were not good, but they did look excellent! I'd have everything all over again minus those. I enjoy every other aspect of Padre's so much I cannot knock the rating down for just one dish

Service was great, everyone was so kind and knowledgeable of the menu and had good recommendations. The ambiance was perfect outside where we sat. Inside is a modern vibe, very nice. The hot dog and crab roll and chicken dumpling soup was soo good!! Definitely will be back to try more of their food. The prices for their food are also reasonable. The crab roll was like $10. The perfect bites with some wine.

Padre's is a wine shop, bar, and restaurant all in one located in the Heights. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice--great for an intimate date night or dinner with close friends. The inside has limited seating, but there is also outdoor seating, as well. We went during brunch for the first time. The brunch menu only had a few options and was very limited, and we were inquired about the oysters that they had for dinner. The service was great! The server and kitchen were kind enough to provide us with oysters despite it not being on the lunch menu. The oysters came on a plate of ice and was fresh at an amazing price of $2 each with pipettes of jabanero sauce. We also got the mimosa and steak frites. I enjoyed the mimosa, as it had a great balance of blood orange to prosecco. The steak was on the thicker side and came out more raw than we expected. Although the outside had a nice char, the inside was very raw. Usually we get medium rare, but I felt like a vampire chewing on a raw slab of meat. The steak was seasoned, though, and paired well with the sauce provided. Because we are in the Heights, parking is limited, but they do have an area designated for the location on the sides and parallel parking in front and across the street. Overall, I like the ambiance of the place and would visit for the mimosas and wine selection.

When my friend made the reservation, she received an email encouraging customers to visit the tasting room before or after dinner. We showed up an hour early to visit the tasting room, however the host had no idea what we were talking about. Turns out they weren't doing tastings. Luckily, we didn't have to wait to be seated. We initially had a table that was not near a heat lamp, however an employee came over and let us know that we could switch to a table near the heat lamp which was appreciated because it was chilly. Our server was Laura. She was nice and funny. They had $25 flight specials. I went with the Sayanara Flight which had white wines. I really enjoyed them and they weren't too sweet. My friend had an NA wine which she enjoyed. We ordered the Truffle Fries and Meatballs. Both dishes were tasty. I enjoyed the aioli that came with the fries. They had discounted wines for purchase. Not all bottles were 50% off, however the gentleman that we spoke to went ahead and gave me a 50% discount on both the rosé and pinot grigio that I purchased which was so appreciated! It seems like there are quite a few businesses around town that are closing. I'm sad to see Mutiny go, but I'm glad my friend and I got to dine in on their final night.

"Closing time, you don't have to go home But you can't stay…read morehere." - Semisonic I have lived in the loop for 5 years now, and I'm sad to say that I finally tried Mutiny on their last day. I often pass by it going through a shortcut to I-45 and sometimes going home around the area. It's literally a 5-minute drive. I booked reservations Friday since I saw they opened up the 31st on Resy. It wasn't earlier in the week, but I knew it was the last day, and my friend and I really wanted to try. I'm glad we made reservations because they were at capacity (150 person capacity) and weren't taking any walk ins. We got there early cause Resy suggested checking out the Tasting Room before or after the reservation time. We got there about an hour earlier, and the host said he didn't know anything about that except that the Tasting Room area was used for events. Interesting. We were seated earlier on the patio on this freezing evening. At first, we were at a table that didn't have a heat lamp, but when one freed up, they were so nice to suggest that we move closer to the heat lamp since they saw us shivering. Lol. We were thankful for that. I wore fleece lined jeans and brought gloves and a beanie anyway having been in the below freezing winter in London. Laura was our server and was kind and funny. So was this other guy who checked in every now and then. He made light of their last day situation. The dining area is so beautiful inside. I love the limestone-looking interior and chandeliers. Reminds me of Fredericksburg or something. They had many large groups and a few small groups of friends or couples dining on this last day. Way to go out with a bang. A lot of the wines were selling out or already sold out around 7-8 pm. We tried the truffle fries and Sicilian meatballs with focaccia bread. I like the thick cut of the fries and the black garlic aioli. It reminded me of yuca fries. The Sicilian meatballs were a bit small, peppery and salty. I wish the marinara was a little more tart. The focaccia helped cut through the saltiness. I had 2 glasses of the NA Sauvignon blanc which was light and a little tart. They ran out of the NA red blend. My friend ordered Sayonara, one of their farewell flights which were aptly named for "goodbye". It was a great night on the patio but chilly. My friend purchased a rosé and a Pinot Grigio as part of their Last Sail wines. Actually, the Pinot Grigio wasn't part of the sale, and he was going to take off 20%, but he also made it 50% off. So nice!! I'm glad we got to try them on their last day. Bon voyage, Mutiny.

We were able to snag some free street parking and wandered our way into a cute setup with mood lighting and plenty of seating. There's a central bar and plenty of outdoor patio space. We were immediately helped as soon as we found a table which I really appreciated. The menu is HUGE and has anything you could possibly want. We're big red wine fans so we settled on that page. J opted for a cab while I decided on a couple to sample before ultimately choosing a red blend. I appreciate that they're more than happy to give you a taste before committing to a glass. You can choose between 3 or 6oz pours, or a bottle. We also decided to share a cheese board with the Willoughby cheese which was soft and delicious! I appreciated how kind and accommodating the servers were as they frequently checked on us. This is a great spot to enjoy some wine with friends, on date night, or anything really! It has a relaxed atmosphere and is a pleasure to visit. Till next time!

Our friend booked a reservation and was able to add a fourth person without any issues. It's on Westheimer where all the restaurants and shops are, so it's pretty busy. You can either park on the street or in the neighborhood behind. There's bar, small table and booth seating available. One of our friends who arrived early got to switch us to a booth since we'd have a few plates to share for the four of us. My friend and I shared the NA red sangria. I liked that there was a NA option for that, and you can choose either red or white. We ordered a pitcher since we were sharing. It was delicious and refreshing. I think I had about 3 wine glasses of it. Our group shared the red fish à la plancha, patatas bravas, spinach frittata, olive oil pancakes and bacon-wrapped dates. Some of the dishes were bigger than others. Tapas is meant to be small plates, and they were, but it's a little overpriced. For example, the red fish was $15.50 for maybe 2 oz of fish. The stack of olive oil pancakes were small and thin for $8.50. If you're sharing, it's not that much food. I was going to order another personal stack of olive oil pancakes because that cinnamon butter was so good! I decided not to after I let all of what we ordered and drank settle for a bit after. The valdeon whipped blue cheese under the bacon-wrapped dates didn't taste very good and seemed grainy to me. It was my least favorite. The standouts for me were the olive oil pancakes, spinach frittata that was actually loaded with more veggies and bell peppers and the patatas bravas which was piled with potatoes topped with mayo that melted down and looked almost like melted cheese on top. It's a fun place for friends to gather or a cute date spot. You may or may not be hungry after depending what you order. There are larger plates/entrees like paella and branzino to share.
