We were immediately served 2 complimentary small portions of the Fried Arancini and knew we were in the right place! The Terrace area was beautiful and intimate. I hope to come back at nighttime one day soon. Happy Hour food/prices are excellent. We were not expecting to order soo much food, but everything was worth it. Even the leftovers! Best Italian dining experience we have had in a while! Looking forward to coming back very soon! My Chicken Parmigiana was excellent. Crispy and moist and lots of cheese. We stopped by on a Friday night, and the vibes of this spot did not disappoint! The ambiance was top tier and love a restaurant with a moody vibe. We ordered a bit of everything from the menu including the Pomodoro + chicken, Margherita Pizza, Whipped Ricotta, and the Olive Oil cake. Food was good but there are a few other spots in Houston that are a bit better. The Pomodoro sauce lacked in flavor and we may have preferred a vodka sauce or pesto dish - but all personal preference. We did have a reservation and were sat in the bar area. They were pretty busy and it did take awhile to get our server for things like a dessert order or the check. Best bet is to get a table in the dining room. Came here Sunday afternoon for dinner. Had the Pomodoro Campanella which taste like a can of Ragu, which is also good. We also had the Sicilian Pesto, also tasty. Overall, the food was decent however, the price was too high. Will not be coming back again, sadly due to price. Hopefully this place doesn't go out of business. Our party of nine arrived without a reservation and we were pleasantly surprised to be seated quickly. We kicked off the night at the bar with a few classic cocktails but unfortunately, the drinks were very lackluster for the price point. The food however, truly impressed us. The delivery was fast, and we appreciated all the dishes arrived to the table altogether making it easy to share. Fritto Miso, Pomodoro, Chicken Marsala, and Pizza were enjoyable. Our absolute favorites were Shrimp Scampi, Oven-Roasted Octopus, and Prosciutto Burrata. Each dish was well executed and we ended up clearing every plates. The staff was attentive and efficiently clearing the table to make room for a thoughtful Birthday dessert. The warm hospitality was the key to this successful night. There were actually a decent number of kids early on in the night! Our server was Britney and she was great. Starters - East Coast Oyster was delicious. Bread basket was good with the butter. We came here for a business dinner and had a great time! To begin with, they have $6 valet which is a great price for the convenience. As soon as we walked in, I was blown away by the decor. There is so much greenery and it just feels very unique. I had the Tuscan Kale Salad which I enjoyed even though I'm not the biggest fan of kale so that says a lot. Happy Hour at Trattoria Sofia Started off with a refreshing Yuzu Lavender Spritz, now this drink right here gives spring/summer vibes. If you want something light and not be left out of happy hour. Next we got the Margherita Pizza, another delicious happy hour item. Tasted so fresh, light on the sauce. Minimal ingredients but that's what made it impeccable. Lastly I had to try the Bucatini Alla Pesto Siciliano from the main menu, it was worth every bite. You could taste how fresh the pesto was. You could taste the basil, it was creamy and delightful. Parking is valet only. The first dish I got was the Whipped Ricotta with hot honey and toasted bread on the side. This was a 5/5!! The waiter brought us more bread when we ran out which was great. If you have any ricotta left over save it and put it on your pasta dish. Trust me. The second dish I got was the Lamb Ragu (4/5). The pasta was perfectly Al dente and the meat (while being quite sparse.. I got 5 pieces through the whole dish) was juicy and flavorful. The lamb honestly reminded me of carne guisada with how tender, flakey, and flavorful it was. The meat did not taste gamey at all. I've had some lamb that I didn't like in the past and this one was great. The tomato sauce was ok. I think I could have used either more sauce or a more flavorful sauce cause it just blended into the background. Overall I'm so glad I came here and I'd recommend you check it out! Our first time to visit this Berg Hospitality concept and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant is a cute attempt at creating a small ristorante. The front part is modern and elegant, the back feels like you're sitting inside a covered porch (you pretty much are). Service was great and food was wonderful. The wine menu was moderately priced. Ordering from the happy hour menu prosecco (x3) which are super crisp, margarita pizza , lamb meat balls (x3) , and a few other bites I can't remember the name of. The lamb meatballs are what I would drive another hour in traffic for. They are seasoned well with an amazing warm marinara sauce served in a mini cast iron skillet. The whipped ricotta was very good and id get it again. while the calamari is good it is heinously over priced for the serving size. original carrabas is the price for 2-3x the quantity. We shared the salami piccante pizza, rigatoni alla vodka and parm crusted asparagus. I really liked the pizza and thought the rigatoni was the best thing we had there. My friend & I came here for the HRW menu. First of all, the parking is valet, so if you don't want to do that, good luck trying to find street parking. Once we were inside, we were taken to our table and given menus immediately. It's dimly lit inside and the restroom was pretty clean. We had two different waiters, most probably because the first waiter's shift ended and it was an hour away from closing time, I believe, but both were very nice! My friend & I ordered a drink each which were good. Then we each ordered different items from the HRW menu -- Caesar salad & whipped ricotta for the appetizers, heritage chicken Parmesan & Cacio e Pepe with grilled chicken, and vanilla new pannacotta & tiramisu. Came here for a friend's surprise birthday party dinner. It was amazing. I never looked at the menu so I couldn't speak to pricing or choices but everything that was brought to the table for us to share family style was fire. This place is a delicious, vibey restaurant, fun for a birthday or a romantic date night. We have always loved the whipped ricotta appetizer and it is a requirement for us every time we go! The fresh bread basket is always a must as well. They have a Calabrian like chili butter with it which is a unique but yummy addition. One time we went we got a special, which was some sort of fish pasta. It was okay but the appetizers stole the show. The next time we went to stayed classic with the Sicilian pesto bucatini which was delicious. The ambience is off the charts, and the service was flawless. I started with the bread service--fresh ciabatta al latte and sesame semolina with EVOO and smoked paprika aioli--amazing! I really wanted to like this place. I came in and loved the scenery; they have a really nice indoor/outdoor patio area. We ordered a few different things such as the lamb meatballs and bread plate as appetizers, and I ordered one of their specials that came with two courses for $25, which consisted of a spring salad with pears and the cacion e pepe pasta w/added chicken. The vinaigrette for my salad just tasted weird- wasn't sweet, wasn't savory. I asked the waitress if she had another vinaigrette, but they were limited. I went here during Houston Restaurant Week and it was okay. I would give a 3.5 if halves were possible. Like most people said, their private parking lot is reserved for valet ($6 from what I remember) and for free parking you would have to do street parking. I had a reservation at 6:45 and I arrived at 6:30 and they made us wait til closer to our reservation time to seat us which is understandable so I guess try not to go in too early if you have a reservation. After we were seated it took about 10 minutes for our waitress to come by and honestly the whole night we barely saw our waitress. It was a Sunday night so it was definitely considered a busier night in the week but it seems like they were either understaffed or just didn't have enough people at the moment. The food was good for the most part. The $39 menu option included an appetizer, main course, and dessert. My table ordered the bread basket separately from the HRW menu and it was basically a waste of the money. Even if they make claims the bread is fresh/homemade, they refrigerate it to preserve freshness but don't bother to at least warm it up so you get served dry and cold bread. From the HRW menu I got the Whipped Ricotta (that came with toasted bread so no idea why they don't warm up their other breads), Sicilian Pesto Bucatini (pesto is strong and flavorful which I like), and Vanilla Bean Pannacotta. I enjoyed everything I had ordered from the HRW menu and would definitely recommend the items I had gotten to others. Would I go here again though? I think only during HRW and on a weekday or during an off hour just because I do feel like the prices are a little high for the food they are offering and for the bare minimum service they provide. read more

The food took forever to be served, and they forgot an order for a member of our party. My wife's poached eggs had runny egg whites and asked it to be cooked properly. Several members of our party indicated that their food was cold. We made the mistake of ordering dessert and it took over 40 minutes to serve three gelatos and a tiramisu. The tiramisu was the last piece in the pan and our waiter butchered it in trying to scoop it out of the pan and some of it fell onto the table. A special celebration date night :) the ambiance and beautiful interior designs are 10/10 for a date dinner. We sat in the patio which was very cutesy too, although I wish they had better lighting so when taking pictures it won't be kinda blurry or fuzzy. Also the fans are great but can get little cold at night for the girls not wearing jackets. Service was wonderful, very attentive all the time. However, the food was alright, maybe because we had higher expectations reading about this place from online articles. The pizza was perfect thin crust, and has a toasty oven flavor which I love, but the honey and Prosciutto combo is very unique for me for the first time. Pesto pasta and the breaded chicken (very juicy and saucy) are both 8.5/10, no wonder they are one of their most popular. Very classy spot for a date or gathering dinner night. But didn't really like the valet parking lot for $6 even though the lot is right in front of the restaurant, and that there are several empty tables around us during our dinner but we only got a small two table for two, so not only it was inconvenient for us to take selfies together, but also they served us two plates of food at a time because our table can't fit all dishes obviously. I would love to eat bits of everything at once instead of feeling like I have to finish a plate before I get my other dishes served. We started with the bread basket... so good, the ciabatta bread had a nice crust with a chewy inside. The other was an olive foccacia. I ordered the INSALATA CAESAR - my niece loves Caesar salad so I gave it to her and she ate every single morsel. She has very discerning tastes... so it must have been good. Second Course was the POLLO AL MATTONE - it was white meat chicken and the skin was crispy and the meat was juicy, tender and full of flavor. It was accompanied with potatoes, olives, heirloom tomatoes & rapini (I did not care for the potatoes they were not soft. All other veggies were good.) This is one of our favorite restaurants in Houston! We love coming to Trattoria Sofia for an early dinner on Friday or Saturday night and sit at the bar. There is just enough buzz at that time to be interesting but it's not crazy or loud. My husband always enjoys their inventive cocktails or his failsafe, a Negoni. I like their crisp white Pinot Grigo by the glass. As for food, the whipped ricotta drizzled with spicy honey and charred garlic is wonderful as is the truffled Polenta with sauteed mushrooms. That along with the Kale Salad is perfect. My husband is more adventurous and has had fun trying many of their dishes such as the Lamb Ragu (A+), Bucatini with Pesto and Cioppino with mussels. I came here with my family before Easter, and it had been a while since our last visit--so I was excited to try a few different pastas and, of course, their pizza. To start, the meatballs were as delicious as ever, and the fried risotto balls were absolutely amazing--crispy and flavorful. The octopus was highly recommended by our server for its tenderness, but unfortunately, it ended up being a bit too chewy for me, so I didn't finish it. The Crudo was fresh, but it had walnuts mixed in, which added an unexpected crunch that took away from the overall experience. The highlight of the meal was definitely the pizza. It was thin, crisp, and cooked to perfection--just how I like it. The pasta dishes were also really enjoyable, and I'd gladly come back to explore more of the menu. Would give a positive recommendation except for the fact they charge a "RESTAURANT OPERATIONS FEE" that is a PERCENTAGE of your bill!!! This is Texas - NOT California or New York. Any restaurant that has to charge an adjustable FEE (3% of total bill) to supplement their business and can't out fixed pricing for food, does not deserve to be in business! Traittoria Sofia is an Italian restautant located in the Heights. I went midday on Saturday, and the restaurant was fairly empty with plenty of seating. However, it took a few minutes to be seated. Once we were seated, the server rarely came to check on us afterwards. The food also took a considerable amount of time to come out, and the server also forgot also about our sparkling water. We ordered the Bucatini Alla Pesto Siciliano and Casarecce Alla Norma. I normally do not gravitate towards pesto, but I enjoyed the Bucatini Alla Pesto. It tasted refreshing with the lemon zest and was a good order for the hot summer day, and you can definitely taste the pistachio. The Casarecce Alla Norma was vegetarian and was advertised as a spicy red pasta, but the sauce had no hint of spice and was more like a standard tomato sauce pasta dish. I liked how they had breadcrumbs to give texture to the dish. I do wish the pasta portions, especially for the pesto pasta, were slightly bigger. There is a parking lot for the restaurant, but it is valet only during the weekends. There is limited space for parallel parking. Overall, I did enjoyed the pesto dish and liked how they had vegetarian options, but the lukewarm service and parking might deter me from visiting again. read more
