Beef oxtails, red beans and rice with okra
Aurelia A.

Where do I start. This place was actually a third choice of ours and im so glad the other ones didn't fall through because when I say this food is nothing less than AMAZING it really is. Upon arrival we were greeted and asked if this was our first time here and we did advise the young lady it was. She informed us that there were two separate boards hanging above one with appetizers, drinks, desserts and the other with the main courses oh yea they have daily specials thats on the chalkboard upon entrance as well. The Mr. And I opted for the oxtails, he got cabbage, mac and cheese, and I got the red beans and rice with okra. You pay and then sit down. They will bring you your food. We waited for about 20 mins (worth every minute) the food comes in Styrofoam containers(only con) with plastic silverware. The food was seasoned so well, it was nice good and hot and the portion size is good. Do yourself a favor and visit them we will definitely be taking that 35 minute drive to come back. Oh and the music they were planning was icing on the cake...

Catfish Atchafalaya, collard greens, and macaroni and cheese.

I enjoyed all the food I ordered. It was fresh, well seasoned and nice portions. The prices are very reasonable. I didn't think much of the cornbread, but it came with the meal, so that was nice. I don't live close by, but I will come back! I haven't eaten my dessert, so I will make another review once I get the peach cobbler. I also got a couple sides to take home!

I ordered the (1) tasty trio, (2) catfish Atchafalaya and (3) fried catfish. The soul roll in the trio was ok -- the Mac n cheese was very dry and bland. The trio came with a grayish-green looking gravy dipping sauce that was not very good at all... it tasted almost like a thick gumbo roux with very little seasoning. The catfish Atchafalaya was supposed to come with étouffée on it, but the sauce I receive wasn't étouffée at all, it was that same grayish-green gravy on top of the fish -- not very good at all, I would not recommend it. The fried catfish by itself was ok, pretty standard fried fish. The mash potatoes, again, came with that same gravy sauce. Strangely, some parts of my food like the gravy and cornbread, tasted old. The service I received from the young lady that helped me was very good. She was sweet and helped me select the items on the menu as this was my first time visiting. There was another lady (who I believe is the cook) who was not very friendly at all -- she didn't smile, speak or give a welcoming vibe. Ii assume this is a Black-owned business so I was glad to support, but I will not be returning.

I got the oxtail plate with a side of cabbage and mac n cheese. Let me just say, everything was seasoned and balanced in flavor perfectly. 10 out of 10 would recommend! Angelica was super friendly and inviting when I went to pick up my order. She recommended mixing my drink half watermelon and half mango flavor and it was sooo freakin delicious! This restaurant is a family owned business too so you know they're putting their heart and soul into it. If you're looking for some great comfort food and hospitality this is definitely the place to go.

I decided to try YELP today for somewhere quick to eat near my job. I came across this little gym. Based on the reviews I decided to check it out and I'm so glad that I did. As soon as I walked in the door, I was warmly greeted by the young lady behind the counter. She welcome me and suggested some of their top selling dishes. She then offered this a amazing peach and mango Kool-Aid that will bless your socks off. Due to my time constraint so I decided to go with the burger and I was so full because it was so good. Y'all, this burger is served on hot buttery Texas toast with seasoned fries and has a sauce that made my soul happy. The service was fast. The food was hot and fresh. The only suggestion that I might have going forward with that my burger was cooked a little well, but it was so amazing. I tore it up!!! You owe it to yourself to check them out. I'm looking forward to going back again.

This cajun/soul food restaurant restaurant has been opened for about 6 weeks now and is located in a very large strip center on the Hwy. 290 frontage road with plenty of parking available in front. Inside, it's a counter service eatery with a nice upscale decor and vibe going with old handwritten recipes displayed on the walls and enjoyable music playing in the background. It has daily lunch specials and serves brunch on the weekend. My first visit was for soulful food and I ordered the smothered pork chops with side dishes of mashed potatoes and fried okra for $17. I added to that their mango peach ice tea and they also offer bottled Pepsi soft drinks. The food was ready in about 10 minutes and served in a styrofoam container with plastic utensils. The chops (2) were covered with gravy and onions on a bed of rice and more of the same gravy and with the sides represented a lot of food. I could see I wasn't going home hungry! The chops were big and tasty along with both sides. It was a good meal but honestly I wasn't a fan of the light brown gravy. To me, taste wise it lacked and I wanted to like it. Perhaps it's just me and you will differ. Also that peach mango tea was too sweet for my taste and had a thicker consistency than regular brewed tea that I didn't like. I gave this meal a 3 score all things considered Including the drink. My next visit was to try the shrimp sandwich with seasoned fries for $14. This time they had brewed unsweetened ice tea thank goodness. About 10 minutes later the food arrived. The sandwich sat on square toasted sandwich bread with 7-8 large fried shrimp along with the lettuce, tomato, pickles and a tasty sauce. I was impressed with the size and taste of this sandwich. It was very good and had plenty of shrimp to eat. I would call it a massive sandwich. Also the seasoned fries were very good to eat too. When I think of a shrimp sandwich, I will probably be thinking of this one (5). The staff here is friendly and I will return.

Excellent food and super friendly service. The fried shrimp and catfish were perfectly seasoned and delicious. The cabbage and fried okra were also tasty. The portions are generous too. Will definitely come back to try some other things.

This is a small mom and pop black-owned business on the north side of Houston. Everything that I have tasted today was amazing. The best shrimp and grits I've ever had.!! The shrimp and grits had so much flavor. I am see that the shrimp was flavored with onion, red bell peppers and bay leaf, seasoning and chives on top. It sure made a difference in the flavor for me. The French toast sandwich was delicious with cheese, eggs and bacon. Next time I come back, I sure will be tasting the ox tails. I can't wait to see how that taste. There's plenty of parking bc this is location in a shopping center facing the freeway. It's right next to Harbor Freights and Davita Dialysis center.

Feels good when an establishment takes pride in their customer's feedback and puts a plan into action. Honestly, part of me was hoping that last time was just a fluke or an off day. This time around, everything from the service to the food was great. We had a 12:30 Sunday reservation for two and opted to sit inside this time. We ordered the cast-iron cornbread, chargrilled oysters, and a cup of gumbo each to start. For entrées, I had the Gulf Fish, while my husband went with the crawfish Florentine. Everything came out beautifully timed, almost like a perfectly paced three-course meal, which obviously made the whole experience feel elevated and relaxed. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, and on top of everything without being overbearing. I also tried the prickly pear aid (non-alcoholic), and it was super refreshing, definitely worth ordering if you like a little tartness to cleanse your palate. Overall, this visit felt like a completely different experience than last time. It delivered the elevated experience a place like Eunice promises and what I was used to originally. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience was disappointing due to both the service and the food quality. Our server was very slow throughout the evening. After ordering cocktails, it took approximately 20 minutes for them to arrive. We then ordered our meals... I had the burger and fries, while my girlfriend ordered the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were noticeably over salted. After finishing our meals, we waited an additional 15-20 minutes just to receive a dessert menu. Eventually, we decided not to wait any longer and went to Dessert Gallery down the street instead. While the atmosphere and appearance of the restaurant were excellent, the slow service and food issues negatively impacted the experience. Based on this visit, I would likely not return.

The vibe is great, the decor is awesome, the food delivers consistently, and service rarely takes a day off -- it's just a solid place to go when you're up for some great southern comfort classics. Cocktails, delicious. The daily food specials make it refreshing. The oysters never disappoint. We've rarely had to wait long on any ordered items and servers are all top notch. My only minor complaint is some of the larger groups visiting can sometimes forget there are others in the restaurant. We don't need to hear your entire conversation about the latest office gossip.

*this review is only for crawfish, not their regular menu (which is amazing) *…read more We went here during crawfish season because they've been advertising their $8/lb crawfish, and we trusted that it would be great given the quality of their regular menu. We went on a Saturday for lunch. Hopefully this was just a one-off, but if you're looking for good Cajun boiled crawfish, this is not it. We started off with 6 lbs (group of 4) of their regular crawfish. First off, they put the Cajun seasoning on outside/shell (!!), which is a cardinal sin for Cajuns. They also minimally seasoned the boil, so the meat was lacking salt and flavor. We ordered 3 more lbs with the "wet sauce" (garlic butter), thinking the lack of flavor may be attributed to this being the first-ish batch of the day. Nope, the second batch was even less seasoned than the first. The sauce was good, but it didn't make up for the unseasoned meat. The crawfish were a good size, at least... Come on guys, I expect more from a Gulf Coast seafood restaurant!

Inside it's a nice restaurant with an upscale feel to it. I ordered a house salad for $9 to start and the Pasta Rosa entree for another $28. The salad arrived first with a generous amount of romaine lettuce with diced tomatoes, cucumber, shredded carrots and chopped eggs on top. With my chosen ranch dressing it was a good tasting salad. The Pasta Rosa dish had sliced Parmesan strips on top of penne with shrimp, crawfish and sausage for the protein with mushrooms and a tomato cream sauce. This meal initially tricked me. My first impression was that while there was plenty of protein the taste of the tomato cream sauce was lacking some flavor. I expected more. However as I kept eating and getting beyond the top layer of the food the flavor increased significantly. I think that the proteins caused the sauce in the lower half of the dish to create more punch. This dish got better and better and I changed my mind. It turned out to be a very good tasting and filling meal. Finally the table service was very good too. P.S. I also tried part of another appetizer which was the bar b q shrimp for $16. YEAH, they understood the assignment. The gumbo is finger‑licking good -- argue with somebody else about it. I get the seafood version minus the sausage, and I clear that bowl every time. The Chargrilled Rockefeller? That's the one you call your mama about. Big, flavorful, perfect. And the deviled eggs... listen. I don't even like deviled eggs, but these? My mouth is literally watering thinking about them. Smooth, creamy yolk, perfectly seasoned shrimp on top -- a combo I didn't know I needed. The crab cakes? Chef's kiss. Packed with fresh crab, and that aioli is doing exactly what it needs to do. The only miss for me was the crab and asparagus -- it just wasn't giving. No flavor, no cohesion... just no. The crème brûlée is delicious, but I'm still wishing they made beignets. Now the drinks? Top 2 and not number 2, do you hear me? The Mexican Martini and the Texas Blueberry Martini -- TEA. (Yes, the little tea‑finger gesture is happening.) And the staff? Amazing. I actually found out I was laid off while I was sitting at happy hour, and the way they comforted me...
