Going to Jax on a Saturday morning was very exciting for me. I was invited to a birthday celebration. Parking is usually hard but it wasn't this time because we got there so early. They open at 11am and the grill was fully open. So was the bar. We were given tickets to eat up to 20.00 by the party host. I was so excited but it is tough to choose a meal. The menu is very expansive and I have never had a bad meal. I chose the chicken wings with mango habernaro and lemon pepper. It came with fries. When I tell you it was delicious. Huge so I could only eat a few but took the rest for later. My friend got the turkey burger and queso and mom got the boudin balls. Everything was so good. The bartender is super nice and fixed good drinks. The watermelon margarita was good and strong. The place got crowded as the afternoon wore down, lots of locals come by for good music and dancing. The food is a given. The patio was nice although it was super hot outside. We had a great time. They had a DJ and a live band to perform. The patio was reserved for the party so it's good to know you can do that. Definitely recommend. read more

I am usually pleased with Jax, however, the online and customer service experience needs improvement. I contacted the restaurant directly to provide feedback and their recommendation is to call when I place an order and not to order online. I ordered the Jax nachos with chicken. I added guacamole and requested that the guac be on the side. Instead, all toppings were placed on the side. They did not add any charro beans which -combined with the queso, are what make these nachos my favorite. I am disappointed that the restaurant's solution placed the responsibility on the customer rather than owning the error. They indicated the receipt says all items on the side (see images) and that beans were not selected as a topping to be added. The website (their site not a third party site) does not have an option to add beans as they are a part of the entree in the menu description. Had they apologized and taken responsibility, they may have retained me as a customer. read more

Monthly lunch date, this time they had a live zydeco band and a brunch menu to choose from with great food options. It was extremely crowded this day so we choose a large table near the entrance it was super loud so it wasn't a pleasant experience as usual. See you next month read more

Wonderful hangout with a mesquite grill offering American fare & seafood with Cajun & Southern flavors. This was a first time visit. A quick stop in for a bite to eat. Very nice and spacious venue with indoor and outdoor patio seating. Big bar in the middle on the inside. Food had a wonderful taste and was served in a reasonable time. Service was great and there were no long waits. Appears to be a pretty popular spot amongst the locals. read more

Service is good, gotta make sure you tell the bartender to give you back your change or else he will keep it . Food and daiquiris are good and at a good price but the music and dancing is EVERYTHING!! Go have a great time and leave by 10pm cause thats the time they close. Lol! read more

We were looking for a place to enjoy some Zydeco music and was told about this place. Arrive early..Parking is treacherous, it gets crowded very fast. We had to sit in the back no big deal however squeezing your way through the bar is another story. It is a kid/family atmosphere and although I enjoy family time this would not be my first selection to bring children although there were plenty there. We did try the wings which were pretty good overall if you enjoy Zydeco and dont mind partying with childre. I would recommend read more

Tried something new while in Houston. Was quite disappointed. The chicken and beef were flavorful, but dry. The rice and charro beans were bland. The Sunkist soda a was refreshing. I liked the retro arcade games here. Plenty of TVs to watch events. The staff were friendly. Plenty of Texas decor to go around! If I return, I'll have to try something else on the menu. read more

Apologies for not having pictures of the food! I love this place because they have a variety of healthy, home-cooked style meals, and some Tex-Mex all in the mix and I'm surprised they do it all pretty well. This is a great spot for large groups as you can order up at the front and pay separately. On this particular day, we came for takeout as someone in the household was recovering for surgery so that's why I forgot to take the pictures - I will do better We had the fried chicken strips with mashed potatoes and gravy. I did feel like the strips were kind of on the small end for the price, but overall the quality was good. Mashed potatoes were very delicious and they could have put a little bit more gravy in the to go box. We also ordered the strawberry cheesecake which was decadent and velvety; just the sweet treat anyone needs The service was quick and easy so I do appreciate that, however, for the prize, I do wish they came a little bit more food. read more

Went to Jax's on Friday night and ordered their fried fish. Fish was frozen and no flavor. Service was great. Only place in the area that has enough parking, location is great. Recommend adding flavor to their food. Prices are good. read more

Love this location! It's definitely a chill and laid back place. Order at the counter and come get your food when the buzzer goes off. Food is good! I order queso and chips- yummy! Menu said blanco but it looked more yellow to me ?? I also ordered the stuffed potato with steak fajita. I forgot to take a pic because I was so hungry, but it had a mound of meat on top!! Tender potato, definitely a good value! read more

Great place with great vibes. I would say it's a great place to take a date or go with a group of adult friends. It may be too noisy for kids but if your kids do well with noise then all good. But the noise could just be at night, not sure about daytime. Food wasn't that bad but wasn't the greatest. It was comfort food. It gave that home cooked meal type feels or atleast what I had did. Maybe I'll try something different next time. I had the chicken fried chicken with fries. You order at the counter and they call your number to pick up. So no waiters or waitresses but there are workers who walk by to get dirty plates etc. read more

I live the food, especially the spinach and crab soup. It's really good and the nachos, oh yes you gotta try them!!!

have never been at a restaurant that doesn't have salt and pepper. Totally ridiculous..... what kind of restaurant runs out of salt and pepper. Jax Grill is a very good place to eat. The food is very tasty. The service is minimal as it is basically self serve. The people are friendly and competent. The ambiance is noisy when busy and very casual. The prices are affordable. It is clean and well maintained. I like to eat there! read more

I have eaten here many times for lunch with my crew. They have good burgers. Aside from the burgers , they have solid entrees , like pasta , red beans and rice, fried seafood. They have a wide selection, many options. Sometimes It's hard to make a choice! You can't go wrong here. Good food , fair price. I have no complaints. The service is quick too! Believe it or not , you could have a group of 4-5 and they will have your food ready in 10 minutes. I will keep returning here for lunch! -Santangelo Balli Gonzales read more

Great atmosphere for family. Food is good and drinks be on point. Nice chill spot to hear good music on the weekends .

I'm going to say it's a BIG difference from a Friday visit to a Sunday visit!! The food on Sunday was bland with no taste. We ordered Chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes & Shrimp Quesadillas. The quesadillas were not warm, no favor and definitely not worth the price. The chicken fried chicken was so flat we thought it was a pancake. For the food was suppose to be cooked to order nothing was hot. For it to my friend first visit I know they will not be back. I really wish I had taken pictures of the food. read more

Definitely a good spot for drinks and food. It's a fun family environment with good music. It gets really packed on night of concerts and parking is scarce. Do not park in other lots with signs up because you will get towed. Otherwise enjoy! read more

Hadn't been here in years. The place was pretty spacious with the patio seating opened. Came on a friday and they had a band playing. Music was good but a little too loud. Had to yell to order my food. Ordering if fairly easy, and the lines move quick. I got a grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The chicken sandwich was great. It tasted seasoned and fresh. The fries on the other hand came out kinda soggy and were hard to enjoy. I like that their menu has some healthy choices in addition to the fried foods. This makes it a great spot for a gathering where everyone can find something to order according to their taste/diet. read more

We ordered food Togo and they have great employees. Our time inside was good. The food is really hit or miss. I ordered the chicken and sausage gumbo- good (off the dry erase board as a special soup), queso- good (but not Torchy's Taco queso good), chicken fajitas were good but the rice and beans were awful, I got the grilled fish - not so good and the vegetables were like wedding vegetables and that terrible rice, the dessert were good (cheesecake and Italian Creme Cake. I think this place has ok food and is just ok. read more

The love music alone is will put you in a good mood, mix with some drinks from the bar, you've got party time to last all night. Now I myself have the palate of a toddler, so I got the chicken tenders and fries. The sauce I had I do not remember, but what I do know is it was good and I wanted more (gotta pay extra for that‍). The staff no matter who you met was so kind, fun, and personable. Felt like a family dinner, the only thing that makes you realize it's a restaurant is when they call out the order number on the speaker. Quality food Quality time Quality vibes What more could you ask for? Probably more sauce read more

I went to Jax purely to try the Captain Crunch Chicken Tenders and cannot recommend them enough. They tenders were crispy and delicious. I had really high hopes from this place, but left disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. I ordered a Jax burger, and it looked divine but upon further inspection the patty seemed like a frozen patty and was unseasoned. The fries were pretty mediocre too. I left only eating barely a few bites because it was just so bland. read more

Decent service, substandard food. I got a Santa Fe chicken which was dry as Santa Fe, NM (maybe that's what they were shooting for?). The rice pilaf was utterly tasteless. Another in out party got a blackened chicken salad. It was way over cooked, even for blackened. Been a long time since I have gone there and it has gone way downhill. Will be a long time before I go back. read more

I used to frequent this place back in the late 90s on Friday nights and always had a wonderful time listening to the live zydeco music and sometimes even getting on the dance floor. I have to say if anything this place has not changed and in my opinion is even better than what I remember. I was anticipating they would not have any healthier food items but they actually had a very good menu. Service was hard to rate because you place your order at the counter and pick up your own food and the music is so loud on Friday nights, it's really hard to hear the cashier but I feel that's pretty normal. They have Indoor seating at pub style tables and an outside patio with bigger tables if you have a bigger party. read more

I'll start by saying I used to like this place. But tonight I ate there and it was horrible. I got the fish and chips. The fish was too greasy to eat. I used half the napkins on the table frying to get the grease out of a piece to eat. read more

Burger Craving Satisfied !! No frou-frou, over priced, undersized burgers here... When you're craving an old school, backyard BBQ burger, Jax Grill delivers. I have been to Jax Grill (JG) a couple of times before, and I haven't been disappointed. The daily specials are enticing and worth trying if you're a newbie. The seating at JG is seat yourself and hope that your table is not sticky. The place is spacious enough that it doesn't feel claustrophobic. You can genuinely eat your meal in peace. The bussers are quick to clean off tables, and the bartender is fantastic. This place is definitely a go-to for a playoff game or a quick meeting. read more
