I am usually pleased with Jax, however, the online and customer service experience needs improvement. I contacted the restaurant directly to provide feedback and their recommendation is to call when I place an order and not to order online. I ordered the Jax nachos with chicken. I added guacamole and requested that the guac be on the side. Instead, all toppings were placed on the side. They did not add any charro beans which -combined with the queso, are what make these nachos my favorite. I am disappointed that the restaurant's solution placed the responsibility on the customer rather than owning the error. They indicated the receipt says all items on the side (see images) and that beans were not selected as a topping to be added. The website (their site not a third party site) does not have an option to add beans as they are a part of the entree in the menu description. Had they apologized and taken responsibility, they may have retained me as a customer. read more

We were looking for a place to enjoy some Zydeco music and was told about this place. Arrive early..Parking is treacherous, it gets crowded very fast. We had to sit in the back no big deal however squeezing your way through the bar is another story. It is a kid/family atmosphere and although I enjoy family time this would not be my first selection to bring children although there were plenty there. Apologies for not having pictures of the food! I love this place because they have a variety of healthy, home-cooked style meals, and some Tex-Mex all in the mix and I'm surprised they do it all pretty well. This is a great spot for large groups as you can order up at the front and pay separately. On this particular day, we came for takeout as someone in the household was recovering for surgery so that's why I forgot to take the pictures - I will do better We had the fried chicken strips with mashed potatoes and gravy. I did feel like the strips were kind of on the small end for the price, but overall the quality was good. Mashed potatoes were very delicious and they could have put a little bit more gravy in the to go box. Great place with great vibes. I would say it's a great place to take a date or go with a group of adult friends. It may be too noisy for kids but if your kids do well with noise then all good. Hadn't been here in years. The place was pretty spacious with the patio seating opened. Came on a friday and they had a band playing. Music was good but a little too loud. Had to yell to order my food. Ordering if fairly easy, and the lines move quick. I got a grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The chicken sandwich was great. It tasted seasoned and fresh. The fries on the other hand came out kinda soggy and were hard to enjoy. I like that their menu has some healthy choices in addition to the fried foods. I ordered the chicken and sausage gumbo- good (off the dry erase board as a special soup), queso- good (but not Torchy's Taco queso good), chicken fajitas were good but the rice and beans were awful, I got the grilled fish - not so good and the vegetables were like wedding vegetables and that terrible rice, the dessert were good (cheesecake and Italian Creme Cake. I went to Jax purely to try the Captain Crunch Chicken Tenders and cannot recommend them enough. They tenders were crispy and delicious. I used to frequent this place back in the late 90s on Friday nights and always had a wonderful time listening to the live zydeco music and sometimes even getting on the dance floor. I have to say if anything this place has not changed and in my opinion is even better than what I remember. Called in an order of chicken fried steak to satisfy a craving. Been to Jax once before for nachos and CFK and remember it being affordable and fairly delicious. Located off Shephard, location is very convenient and parking as well. It's a fairly large restaurant though was pretty sparse when I went. Not a fancy restaurant, but a plain clean place for a good meal. Calling in the order was quick and efficient, didn't ask for more than a name and food would be ready in 15 min (super quick!). Plenty of parking once you get to the restaurant, counter up front got my name and my order was ready. Everything was packaged well, CFK wrapped in aluminum to keep it hot, seperate containers for mash and their signature gravy.
