We came to this restaurant on Sunday with a party of six after having a bad experience at another restaurant, and unfortunately, this experience was not much better. I stood in line for about 30 minutes waiting for someone to come to the counter. When the employee finally came up, I simply asked if she was ready, and she immediately responded with an attitude, stating that she was there by herself, had no help, and was running everything alone. While I understand that staffing issues can be stressful, that should not be taken out on paying customers. As customers, we have no control over who shows up to work or how the restaurant is staffed. We are there to eat, pay for our food, and receive basic customer service. The employee then became more upset and stated that if I did not want to be there, I could leave. This was very unprofessional. I did end up staying and eating, but the food was mediocre and hard. The rest of my party also felt the food was not good. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. I will not be returning to this establishment and would not recommend it based on the poor customer service and food quality. read more

I just discovered today that District 7 serves brunch, and even though I've had dinner at another location, this was my first time trying brunch here in EaDo. I'm so glad I did--the food was fantastic. I ordered the Full House, which lets you choose between pancakes, waffles, or French toast. I went with the French toast, and it did not disappoint, light, fluffy, and topped with sweet strawberries. The potatoes were fried perfectly, the bacon had that crispy bite I love, and my eggs were cooked exactly how I ordered them (over medium). Everything on the plate worked together so well that I'm already planning to come back. The prices were spot-on, and the atmosphere had a cozy yet casual vibe. I asked that it be cooked through. Not sure why that changed my added mozzarella; because it came back with no cheese. Website says open until 9pm. Placed an order at around 7:45pm, got a confirmation at 7:53. The confirmation says to wait until you get an email with a pickup time. After 30 minutes of nothing, I called...3 times. No answer. No voicemail. I emailed back the address I got the confirmation from...says it is invalid. I ordered elsewhere because I thought they closed early. Why else would they not answer the phone and not confirm orders? As I was driving to pick up my alternate order, I noticed this place actually had cars outside and the lights on. Weird. I couldn't get an order response and couldn't get anyone on the phone. I walked in at 8:45, an hour after I tried ordering, with the manager following me in. Why was he outside? He asked what I ordered. He didn't even have the order system on and had to turn it on to see that an order was placed. At this point, I said I just wanted a refund and he said he would cancel the order. Why stay open if you aren't actually taking orders? I ordered through their own website because restaurants say that the other services cost them so much money. Pre-Houston game, We ate at District 7 for an early dinner. Great meal, great service - many food type options. We started with the Arancini Mushroom Ball appetizer. The Arancini Balls were exceptionally cheesy and the sauce they served with a tasty marinara sauce. Delicious!!! We had the Short Ribs and Pappardelle dish with red wine reduction. The plate was loaded with meat and tasty, non-traditional sauce. Also, had the Chipotle Stuffed Chicken. The chicken was stuffed with kale and artichokes. The sauce was a lightly sweetened, kicked up with chipotle sauce. Our son had the smash burger. Let me say the smash burger was the juiciest , most flavorful burger we've had for $10!!! Came here for brunch and it was such a quaint spot. You order your food at a counter and then find a seat. The menu has a good variety. I ordered the pizza... they make it all from scratch and the sauce to cheese ratio was perfect. My friends had breakfast and I did sample the breakfast potatoes and they were seasoned really well. We ate out on the patio and they bring you your food and clean up after you leave. You could even hear the music from the club next door. But after looking at their Yelp food photos and knowing they have a patio, we dropped in for a weekend lunch. Got the chicken fried chicken with gravy, everything was delicious a little stingy with the gravy. they served it in a small container, but no biggie asked for more and received also got a pancake ... it was a lil dry and thick not my favorite... brought my baby of course and ... there's no changing table. Quite possibly the best veggie burger I've ever had!! So much more creative, fresh, and tasty than a beyond burger. It came with a bucket of crispy fries but the burger was so satisfying that I only ate a few. I was impressed with their diverse and interesting menu and the prices were incredibly reasonable. My dining partner ordered a salad with fish added The food itself was average and took quite some time to come out. The fish was over cooked on both of our dishes and were dry. The ingredients were nice and fresh, and the portion of fish was great, but the execution left much to be desired. My dining partner felt like there wasn't enough cheese in his salad. This review is strictly for brunch (which is now offered every day). The food was just alright (had their fried chicken with eggs, bacon, potatoes & waffles) but I wouldn't drive across town for it. This is going to sound harsh but it felt like the kind of meal one would have at the airport, or a mid-tier business hotel - all the staples and nothing really to write home about. I have high expectations for brunch when inside the loop. Also, brunch should include a selection of coffee beverages, not just plain coffee, which was all they had (no lattes, cappuccinos, etc). On the plus side, parking was easy and service was on point (counter service and staff bring out your food/coffee/refills). Patio was lovely and other patrons were chill, everyone minding their own business and enjoying the weather. I'd probably enjoy having a drink here in the evening. read more

P. and I stopped by District 7 for a Saturday dinner, looking for some yummy Italian food and wine to lift our spirits after a stressful final exam season. I love exploring the interesting restaurants around EaDo, and was pleased to add District 7 to the list. We ordered our pastas at the front counter in a quaint restaurant with a distinct homey feel, just what we were looking for. We quickly decided on comfort food - P. chose the Black Shrimp Carbonara while I opted for the Wild Boar Linguine Pesto. Our server was quite polite and attentive though a bit rushed at times. We received our food at just the right time, and quickly dug in to some tasty Italian food. I really enjoyed the flavor of the pesto, though I found the sausage a little oversalted in comparison to the rest of the pasta. Regardless, I really enjoyed the meal and found it perfectly filling. I sampled a bit of P's Shrimp Carbonara and found it similarly delicious, especially the cream sauce. One of the best parts of the experience was the (free!) soft serve at the end of our meal! There's a machine on the side of the restaurant near the drink dispenser with cones and yummy vanilla soft serve - a must-try on your next visit here! It was a great way to end our meal. Located blocks away from the Dinamo Stadium and a couple blocks east of 59. 1) Lots of parking. 2) Loads of inside seating and super cute patio outside with a gorgeous tree right in the middle of the patio. 3) Order your food inside and grab a number and your food will be brought to you. 4) Our portions were huge. I ordered the chicken penne and spinach salad. For only $11 the portion was so big that I took half home and had a second meal! The bread looked like white bread (Texas Toast) instead of the expected classic and flavorful rye bread. The onions and cheese were a melted mess without distinct flavor. Overall a miss especially at this price but still was consumed. Both days the "server" was hardly there, strange considering the low low table count. The atmosphere was under construction with no obvious work in progress. However there was a sign on the door apologizing. Given they are walking distance from George Brown convention center and the expensive Hilton with a $30 plus drink breakfast, District 7 is missing an opportunity by not opening earlier (now 10am) to entice some of those thousands of people over for a simple breakfast plate or waffles.
