I placed an order to-go and informed the man who took my order that I would be three doors down at La Carafe. I asked that he bring it to me, and he agreed. "Do you work there?" he asked. "No," I said. He told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. 25 minutes later, I still had not received my order, so I went back to Barnaby's. The guy says that he brought my order to La Carafe, spoke with the bartender, and for me by name and said that I worked there. The bartender told him that no one by my name worked there. Did he look around the bar for me? Nope. He turned around and went back to Barnaby's. Like a total dumbass. So I finally got the food. The broccoli was really undercooked. Stopped into Barnaby's one Saturday afternoon for brunch. Unfortunately, it was not it. Our server was wonderful though. She ensured we had everything we needed. The food was a huge miss. I originally ordered the french toast sandwich with breakfast potatoes and avocado on the side (since I didn't get meat). There was way too much bread and the eggs were not scrambled, which is what I requested after being asked. They also kept the swiss cheese on the sandwich after I requested pepper jack. It just didn't do it for me. I ended up sending the meal back and going with the breakfast plate instead. All was well, but the eggs were really bland. The other person in my party ordered the green eggs dish and she said that the eggs were wet. Overall, one thing this Barnaby's location does get right are the portion sizes They pack so much on your plate that you're guaranteed to have leftovers. Ate their Lebanese Chicken Salas a week ago and I'm still thinking about it today. I've never been someone who order salad from a restaurant, but this was a game changer. First off, salad was humongous. It is $16, but you definitely get 2 meals out of it. Almost everyone around me took theirs to go. Second, I've never had salad that was so perfect with every single bite. Not sure how they chopped it, but every piece fit together perfectly on your fork so that you could get a little bit of lettuce, tomato, chicken, olives, and pita bread - every time. But living in the East End, there aren't many salad options, so the food delivery apps always remind us that Barnaby's still exists. They have one of my most favorite salads in Houston (Lebanese Fattoush) that pairs so well with their irresistible fries. And queso. Spinach artichoke dip. And this is one of the few affordable *and* healthy-ish breakfast spots near us when we are trying to stay away from breakfast tacos. Service is hit or miss (it's never bad, just slow) and I noticed the ingredients varied in my salad (compared to the same salad I ordered from the Heights location that same week). Tried this cafe for the first time. It was awesome! Breakfast and lunch were available. Half our party got breakfast and half lunch. All of us enjoyed our meals. Been here a couple times during lunch on weekdays. It's located on the northern end of downtown and a couple blocks from the office buildings. The food; Portions are big. You will likely not leave hungry. The quality of the food is OK. Not handmade but most likely not microwaved frozen apps. I really think their pita chips are Stacy's Pita chips that you would find at a grocery store though. I've gotten the burger here and it's definitely 1/3 or 1/2 lb and is decently cooked. Just really no big personality on any of the dishes. Service is fine, and I didn't really see any COVID protocols besides masks; looks like people were seated wherever. We were looking for a place with outdoor seating near Houston's museum district and this place fit the bill. It is clearly geared towards dog owners and dogs are encouraged so much, they even have their own menu! Unfortunately, we had not brought our doggo to Houston with us, so we had to satiate ourselves with other's pets. The food was good and was absolutely HUGE portions. We were there for lunch, but the portions would have been considered large for dinner. My mom got the Petaluma Salad, which looked like it contained an entire head of lettuce. My dad's Hawaiian Pork Chops came with three large chops in addition to pineapple wedges, fries, and cinnamon apples. I got the Meatloaf Bruschetta, which was very unique (always a plus in my book) and they let me substitute the side of chips for their homemade Mac and Cheese (an even bigger plus)! My wife got the Pesto Chicken Salad Sandwich, which she enjoyed, except she requested it be made with the sourdough hoagie bun and they brought it out on the original wheat bread instead. Since the portions were so big, we did not have room for dessert, but their sweets menu looks very intriguing, especially their large selection of large cakes. We'll have to come back for a dessert-only trip and this time, bring our dog. read more

This place is pretty great. I've already recommended it to others who were planning on traveling down to the Houston, TX area. The outside of the restaurant is fairly plain, but the inside is quaint and colorful. Immediately being sent those great under-sell/over-deliver vibes. They offered lunch and breakfast at the same time. I opted to go for the Bacon waffle with sides of home fries and eggs. The food was extremely affordable. I think the breakfast menu only had 1 option over $10! The drink I opted to go with was a half and half (iced tea/lemonade). All of it was delicious and there was so much of it! I had enough food for 2 days! Value and taste is a quality that will always get a high rating from me! The restaurant is only open for a few hours of the day and I'm sure they are doing just fine because the place was packed on a weekday afternoon! None of Barnaby's locations disappoints. Always hefty and flavorful options. Spinach artichoke dip is chunky and has a nice viscosity to it. I know sometimes dips can be either too thick or too watery but this one is one of my favorites in all of Houston. Their quesadilla was mad delicious and really consistent throughout with plenty of chicken chunks and was not stingy on the guacamole (Major Key Alert). The service is great and attentive. read more

THE CAKE IS A LIE! This is normally my favorite downtown brunch place, hands down, and their Saturday morning/afternoon breakfast menu is some or the best stuff in down. It's Pride month, I wanted to give their rainbow cake a go, and I was massively jonesing for some chicken fried steak and eggs. So I head on over, arrive just a few minutes after 2, and am greeted by locked doors, lights out, and not a sign of life to be seen in the building. Great place for brunch or lunch. Outdoor seating is very dog friendly, convenient since they're across the street from a dog park. I ordered the Migas which was amazing, lots of chorizo and the salsa that comes with it is delicious. My friends got the huevos rancheros and the chicken burrito. All the portions were large but the burrito was literally two burritos smothered in guacamole topped with a jalepeno. Highly recommended! read more

Barnaby's was delicious and reasonably priced. Discovered this gem on my second to last morning in Houston and was so sad because I would only be able to eat their once. The waiter saw me struggling to decide between pancakes and a more savory breakfast and allowed me to order one pancake which they made look beautiful. This cute little cafe is amazing! Great service. Quick. Delicious good. AND this place was hopping! We had a group of four visiting for a convention, and we had just enough time to have a very large lunch. I personally had a Cobb salad. It was so filling- I couldn't even finish it. I went for the first time yesterday for lunch and was heavily impressed. Small venue but accommodate guess well. The wait was not long at all seated right away. I had the lasagna which was a large portion for lunch however fit me well. It ranged around $14 great price for the amount of food that was given. This location really disappointed us. We have been huge Barnaby's fans, mostly we go to the white oak location. The food was still excellent but the inside was dirty, and we didn't have a very good waitress. What really bothered me was when she picked up my glass to refill and touched the rim with her hand and the straw with the pitcher. That is so gross to me. I couldn't drink from my glass after that. This restaurant is so delightful! I'm in love with the dog theme. I also really enjoy how there are games outside to play! I especially liked the huge variety of menu items. From Mexican, to classic burgers, it really appeals to everyone. I also extremely appreciate how there is MORE THAN ONE vegetarian burger option!! Most restaurants usually on have one, but for my fellow vegetarian friends you can select a variety of one!
