The food was just... bland. The fries were almost crispy and someone sprinkler red powder on them, but they were flavorless. There's more flavor to be had at your favorite fast food joint. The chicken was at least very well cooked. They do state the chicken was fed a vegetarian diet, which... odd choice for an omnivore. I raise chickens. They like bugs a lot. The service was wanting. The wait staff seemed frazzled, forgetting things, half helping each other and communicating poorly between them, and they were all out of certain menu items. Unimpressed all around. read more

There are numerous Barnaby's Café locations all throughout the city, but this one in the Museum District is my preferred destination for delivering a consistent experience across the board in food and service. The interior is bright, clean, and perfect for groups. There are mural pieces along the walls and lots of kid friendly toys in their outdoor patio, which is substantially larger than most restaurants, and a whole kids play area. The bathrooms are clean, which is always a plus. The food is a mix of American comfort with a touch of TexMex. One will find queso and coronodo beef but also salads, lasagnas, and burgers. This is also a place for brunch and the dessert options are in numerous. Prices are reasonable and the portions are excellent. Service is a toss up at times, along with the ability to find parking. This part of Houston is notorious for towing, so be on the lookout for signs for street parking. read more

Maybe a 3.5 stars. Had our team lunch here again. It's been a year or so but someone suggested this spot. Normally I get their chicken Alfredo but staying away from carbs as much as possible so opted for the Newport Chicken (grilled chicken topped with ham and cheese). I opted for a salad instead of fries and gave my friend the apple cinnamon that came with it. My only issue was that the waiter never told me there was an up charge to sub, just asked if I wanted a side, Caesar or wedge. I opted for the wedge. If you aren't a fan of blue cheese, make sure to let them know. Not familiar with wedge salads so assumed it came with ranch. Newport chicken: the piece of ham was huge while the grilled chicken was not. The chicken was grilled perfectly. The staff is friendly and fun and that made up for the $5 charge for the salad that was tacked on to the bill. Garage is still small. So for lunch get there earlier. The first level now has more reserved spots for pick up than the last time we came. Their mini brownie and ice cream is good but couldn't get it this time. We had gone to the Children's Museum just next door on a Saturday afternoon, so decided to drop by here with the kids for an early dinner. Got seated immediately. It was our first time visiting this location, as we have visited thier other location several times. We ordered the Falafal burger split into two with sweet potato fries, Petaluma salad also split into two as portion sizes are large at this chain. And Mac & cheese for my daughter. Max & cheese was too dry and we found out from the server it is actually pre made from the Kraft box, so that was quite disappointing. Had we known about this earlier, we should have ordered a different pasta which they also offer for kids. Otherwise, all the other food was delicious. Service was amazing and love this location. Not the best first impression. We just recently moved to the area and my husband's family was visiting us. Our party was large. We needed a high chair and we also had an infant in a car carrier... We unfortunately had to experience two locations. The first location we tried had us wait while they continued to seat smaller parties then proceeded to tell us they probably wouldn't be able to accommodate our group. They suggested we go to their other location. We packed everyone up and drove to their other location. The food was good and the service was better. I guess it's just one of those things where we felt a little unwelcome by some of the staff members, especially at the first location. I could be mistaken. Barnaby's Cafe is a perfect place for post museum eats since its just down the road. Their menu has a great spread of choices and each location has its own unique flare of decor. We elected to get grilled chicken salad of which was able to feed me for another meal too. Look at the picture, its huge! We also got a burger and fries for the baby. I've also tried their falafel salad as well which turned out to be a banger of a meal last time. Their side of fries always comes out in a heap on a plate which I absolutely love. I've been wanting to try Barnaby's for a few years now and I finally made my way here with the group of friends. We decided to stop in after our 5K and grab some breakfast. We made it just in time as they stop serving breakfast at 11 AM. We were greeted immediately when we walked in the restaurant by essentially the whole staff everyone was friendly and welcoming. You have the option to sit inside or outside on their patio. Our survey was Bryce very attentive and make sure to follow up on our items as one of our friends wanted to order from the lunch menu so there's a little wait as they have have to turn over from breakfast to lunch. For my entrée I ordered the breakfast plate and subbed a pancake on the side. I had my eggs, scrambled soft with cheddar cheese add in order sausage as my protein. My eggs were clipped to perfection like I like, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the sausage links. I originally ordered grits as a side, but didn't know they were savory so I opted to switch them out with the potatoes and OMG those potatoes are so good. Very crispy and some of the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had. This was a few of our first times here and we have already discussed going back and trying their lunch/dinner menu and bringing our dogs along. The Artichoke Dip & Chips (6.9/10) was creamy, gooey, and had a solid balance of artichoke and dip (bonus points for not choking). The Sweet Potato Fries (7/10) were crispy and enjoyable. But the Green Chile Burger (5.5/10)? Ordered medium, got well-done. It tasted more broiled than grilled, lacking the punch of flavor you'd expect. Swift solid service for a bite with friends and family. We are always down for an easy place to nom and Barnaby's did not disappoint while we were in town. My tot got himself a kids meal with fries and lemonade and it was affordable and quick. The menu is divine and the portions are generous, my husband and i easily split the salad and even then there was more than enough for us to fill up on. We love how fun and family friendly this place is, and parking via the garage with 2 hour validation was lovely! Service was top notch h and we had no wait coming on a Friday afternoon to get ourselves a table in the back booth, with plenty of space to color and keep the kiddos entertained. If you live or visiting the museum district, stop by Barnabys for a nice meal. Barnabys offer take out or dine in. You can choose to sit inside or outside if the weather permits. This location is spacious, inviting, and clean. The service was pleasant and quick. If you are looking for parking, they have a parking garage attached to the building, I didn't drive, I chose to take an Uber to avoid parking and just relax from driving that day. My daughter, grandson, and I went Sunday afternoon (3/16/2025) we chose the Museum District location because compared to the San Felipe location I feel I would get a better result, and I was right. I had the chicken sandwich with fries, for a started we had the white queso with chips. The chicken sandwich was deliciously seasoned, it was topped with bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato, onion, on a nice soft bun. The portions are plentiful so if you can't finish it all you can box up the rest. Overall, I give this location 8 out of 10. I give the chicken sandwich a solid 8.0 When I visit the area again, this will be my go-to place to eat. read more

We ordered the baby back ribs and my son ordered the guacamole burger, I also asked for an appetizer which was spinach and artichoke dip with chips! And I did order carrot cake to go because I knew I was going to be pretty full!! The ribs were falling from the bone but!! Yes a but.. the ribs were a bit dry and had to chew many times!! The plates are pretty huge so had leftovers!! The fries are fresh and they give you tons of them!! I just wished the ribs were moist! My son did have a small issue with the seasoning on bread, too much!! Salty and too much pepper which he did wiped off. But the meat was perfectly medium rare and enough food!!! Oh! After having kids, I started appreciating family friendly restaurants like this place more and more. Barnaby's is a great place for lunch after a family visit at the nearby zoo or museum - they provide coloring books for the kiddos, offer a kid's menu, and the food is good. I usually gravitate towards the cheeseburger because you really can't go wrong with it. The meat is hefty and is cooked how you like it. I always order medium rare and it comes out right each time. It's not fancy nor ranked as my top five, but it's a good quality burger. The fries that it comes with are great and come in an abundance. You can't go wrong with their sweet potato option either! Having a kid menu is nice, though the chicken tenders that we ordered last time weren't good because they composed of mostly hard batter. Considering the price, I don't find it worth it and rather feed the kids a chicken quesadilla. Outdoor seating option is nice, especially during the early Spring when the weather permits. Around the back, they have lawn chairs, a foosball table, large Jenga blocks, and large connect-4 game. Parking is free. You just need to get validated by the waiter. read more

I routinely come to this Barnaby's and the one on West Gray. And I enjoy both. This location has outdoor seating and is dog friendly. They share a parking garage with two other restaurants and is free of charge on the ground floor. The wait staff is always friendly and accommodating. I've never had a bad experience. The food is delicious. My absolute favorite is the Lebanese Chicken Fattoush salad. It comes in a lunch and dinner size. They both come with the same large and flavorful chicken breast. The difference is the amount of salad greens and about $3 (can't remember the exact amount now because I now only get the dinner sized salad because I believe this is better value and can easily be two meals). The salad includes romaine lettuce, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, red onion, Kalamata olives, feta cheese and pita chips and is served with their homemade vinaigrette that I really love. I get it without onions and pita chips and with extra olives (picture attached). Also, in the attached picture is the Texas Chili Hamburger. Also very good. I love this place for lunch! Also, be sure to try their brownie with vanilla ice cream and lemonade (you get an entire carafe and can take whatever you don't drink to go). read more

Falafel burger: crispy falafel burger that is very well seasoned. The hummus spread is a must. Black bean burger: juicy! Sometimes black bean burgers tend to be dry and crumbly but that was not the case here. Only downside was the avocado slices on top kept sliding out. Meatloaf: this is massive! There were three slices of meatloaf smothered in a tomato sauce. The mashed potatoes were amazing and it came with a whole head of steamed brocolli. I think I ate more brocolli in this one sitting than I usually eat in a year. Sweet potato fries: some are crispy, some are soft, all are delicious. Fashioning myself a potato fry lover, I nevet thought I would prefer sweet potato fries over regular fries. But here at Barnaby's I would choose sweet potato every time. read more

This location is convenient to the med center and museum district. Service was attentive, but relaxed. Clean location. An attached parking garage serves Fadis and Barnabys for free (first level). Read the sign carefully for restaurant parking instructions on the second level (validated parking?) I was lucky to grab a first floor spot on each of my visits. I can't speak to the ease of second floor parking. Inside the atmosphere is relaxed, the bar area looks cool, and tables were quickly cleaned. Our last visit was on a Monday. Hubs ordered the lunch chicken fried steak special. It was a tasty and generously sized - definitely worth the $15. For this part of town it was a great value. Chicken fried steak was flavorful and "real". The steak was real, a tiny bit tough in a spot or two. That wasn't a big deal because the cut of meat was the key to the great flavor. Hubs was "meh" on the mashed potatoes. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. The bread was fabulous. The sandwich is large enough to share. The chicken flavorful and juicy. The avocado was fresh and at the perfect ripeness. I used a knife and fork. When they say open faced in the description it means you get both buns, but it will be larger than most folks can manage in a hand held bite. My next visit will be a salad. Spying on the food delivered to nearby tables.... because who doesn't gawk and try not to look like a food creeper? That kitchen is producing large, fresh, and delicious looking salads. Without fail Barnaby's always come through for me. Vegetarian here, so I used to always get the Petaluma Salad which is way more than one meal. It's always excellent. About a year ago, I discovered their Impossible Burger. I'm not a huge veggie burger fan but their Impossible Burger is next level goodness. It's always cooked to perfection, whether I'm sitting right by the kitchen at the restaurant (which I love to see all the action) or I get it delivered, perfect every time. At the restaurant, everyone is so attentive and my iced tea glass is never empty. Superior staff! The artwork and quaint laidback vibe makes dining in a lovely experience. When at home, my wine glass is often empty so the staff aren't as great as they are at Barnaby's. I love to cook, but wasn't feeling it today and needed my Impossible fix. Once again, Barnaby's hit me with another amazing meal. Impossible Burger for dinner, salad for lunch tomorrow and I just finished off my Baby Brownie (15 seconds in the microwave) with the perfect amount of vanilla ice cream they also sent!
