Fantastic Kosher Beef Hotdog togo !!!
    Michael C.

I finally tried this chain after hearing n wondering about it. Such menu diversity too. Last night I ordered the Lasagna for dine-in and a jumbo Beef Hotdog togo for a post-midnight workout snack n lunch the next day. Both were very delicious and comforting with great flavors to them. The lasagna was full of chunky red tomatoes, sauce, cream and meat with just the right amount of cheese. I don't like when lasagna is smothered in cheese and prefer more sauce on it. The layers were soft and cooked well. The meat / cream / cheese layers were so tasty, well-seasoned and savory. The red sauce was contrasting and noticeably on the sweeter side. The meat n all balanced out the sweetness and the sweetness balanced out the grease. The massive hotdog was very good, beefy and quality too. The buns were toasted well. The meat was crunchy with a soft, seasoned inside and cooked with great grilled heat on its outer layer. It actually reminds me of a hotdog from Five Guys, but better ! I also added tomatoes to it for some refreshing coolness. The service from my server and two other employees I came across was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. I need to try their chocolate cake one day as well.

Named after the owner's good dog Barnaby (now resting in Heaven), home of the original "Rainbow Cake" served in 9 locations building community across Houston, this is a Cafe for everyone. They boast of treating their staff as family, creating atmosphere more like home, with specials 5 days a week and menus covering every dietary preference and restriction (along with a special Puppy Menu!). I enjoyed a giant Cobb Salad heaping with bacon, egg, shredded chicken, cucumber, tomato, red onion, and avocado. Honey Mustard perfection! We spent an hour, could have been an afternoon. This one will keep me coming back, can't wait for the return!

Service was great. The portions are huge. No one finished their plates they have daily specials and love the movie themed Christmas decorations!

Found this cute little spot while looking for brunch the morning of Christmas Eve, very cute and welcoming staff. The chicken & waffles were decent (3/5) IMO, it was a lot of chicken for the waffle and the breading of it was not too crispy, had very little flavor to it. The chicken parm was pretty good I think the pasta wasn't exactly my favorite but my boyfriend thought it was really good, claimed it was better than Olive Garden's chicken parm, I don't know about that but he made a very bold statement. The portion is a pretty large size and very filling for sure. Overall nice experience, definitely look forward to going back and trying other things in their menu. Not to mention their entire decor was so cute and such a lovely staff! :)

If you've been to Barnaby's, you already understand that it doesn't get ANY better! Absolutely huge portions, incredible food and the nicest staff ever. Ample parking as well, which is rare in Houston. An every weekend staple, at bare minimum.

This place never disappoints. The staff is friendly as soon as you enter the cafe. The waiters are very attentive and helpful with selecting menu choices. Food came out in a reasonable time. It was hot and fresh. The portions are huge. I wanted dessert but had no room for it. Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere.

It doesn't get any better than this place.......my wife and I went there for lunch, as we wanted a salad.....Russell was our server, and was nothing short of amazing.......we asked if a salad would be big enough for 2 to share, and he said, "All of our portions are big." Understatement of the year, but in a good way......this was made with the freshest of ingredients, and was gigantic. It was fantastic! So, we then decided to return for dinner the next day......John Z was our server, but Russell also stopped by to say hello. We asked about the burger versus the French Dip, and John advised to get the burger......fantastic choice I might add. Prior to the burger, we had the spinach and artichoke dip, which was the best I have ever had. We definitely loved the food, but the service made us feel welcome and at home......Will definitely come back in the future!

All were great but I especially loved the carrots which were cooked and seasoned perfectly. For my main course I had the chicken and dumplings, husband got the NY strip, our friends shared the whole fish and we had the cabbage and crab rice as sides. Everyone was very happy with both their main courses and the side dishes. Between me and hubs, we had a Pan de campo, an order of Gulf Oysters "casino", (4) dressed oysters, a 16 oz dry aged ribeye, a snapper entree and a side of crab fried rice. We finished almost everything except a quarter of the Pan, about a quarter of the rice, and about a third of the ribeye. All were great dishes and would definitely order again. We skipped dessert because honestly none stood out to us. He said their popular dessert is the souffle but they were sold out. Our total before gratuity was about $250 and that included one cocktail. Hubs had their "classic" old fashioned which he said was excellent! Overall, highly recommended if you don't mind the splurge or for a special occasion!

He ended up being one of the best aspects of our experience that evening. Our waitress wasn't nearly as good. We started by asking for ice in the water from the waitress since they just give you room temp water. After 10 mins of seeing her serve other tables and ignoring our request, we then figured the water boy would make it happen...and sure enough he did. We then ordered the grilled oysters, which are very lightly cooked, almost seemingly steamed more than anything, but they were very good regardless of the cooking method with the sauces and garnishes and pickle juice added. Next up was ordering the entrees. The menu here is a little strange with numerous vegan choices with strange titles and only a few items with protein. To top it off, there are not many choices period. The waitress explained that the left side is basically the apps, and the right side is basically the entrees. I knew I wanted to try the wagyu flat iron steak which is priced pretty high here, compared to other wagyu flat irons I've had at other restaurants across the US. We couldn't really decide on a 2nd main dish then the waitress mentioned the off the menu special which was a scallop pasta so we picked that thinking it sounded delicious. The entrees come out about 15 mins later, and we take our first bites and we both thought, oh no, if we share the other person across from me isn't going to like this dish because it's too salty. I tried the steak first and noticed the sauce being extra salty, then I tried the pasta and the pasta was way worse, but the scallops didn't seem to be affected. We immediately told the waitress the next time she stopped by....and she just said okay, and walked away. I figured she would go get the manager....but nope...she just kept on serving other tables. At this point we thought to ourselves only the oyster app was decent.....and no reason to look at the dessert menu since we had already spent over $100 on food we could hardly eat. Sure enough, the waitress stops by a 2nd time and asks if we'd like to see the dessert menu. I couldn't leave fast enough and told her we'll skip. Needless to say we both left hungry as the portions were not only not edible, but also fairly small. The water boy also stopped by and offered to turn on the heater if we get cold. Boy, I wish he was our waiter instead. For a supposedly Michelin-starred restaurant, I feel they really got this one wrong.

Food: - Chicken liver pate: 10/10 SOOOO good! The bread that comes with it is amazing too. There is some sweet jam that is paired with it also. It doesn't overpower the main pate flavor, but I could probably do without the sweetness. - Pressed leeks: 10/10 I haven't had leeks too often in my life but this was really good! The sauce that they put it on pairs so well with it and really makes the dish. Must try even if you think you don't like leeks. - Venison tartare: my husband loves tartare and mustard so he loved this dish. I despise mustard and am lukewarm on tartare. The mustard taste was so strong. I hated this dish but I'm also not a good critic for it, so no rating from me. - Pappardelle: 7/10 Simple and classic. Not worth getting on your first visit but a nice dish on its own. - Butternut squash: 8/10 I can't remember much about this dish except that I enjoyed it :) - Pork collar Milanese: 9/10 Like a much better version of a schnitzel - Dumplings: 9/10 Just read the description on the menu and you know it's gonna be good. Ricotta? Brown butter? Yup amazing! Creamy, delicate, but not just a big mush that makes me want to gag. - Lamb ribs: 9/10 Nicely smoked, all around good balanced flavor - Wagyu bavette: 10/10 So good! Tender and juicy. But at this point in the meal, I'm usually pretty stuffed and the portion size is pretty decent. I would enjoy it even more if we didn't always order so many other small plates haha - Mushrooms: 9/10 Mushroom haters, please try this! You may change your mind! Doesn't feel uppity. - One time, we got free dessert. We were the last party in there so they probably just wanted to get rid of it. The cookie was so good! If you don't think we're ordering enough food, it'd be nice to be informed that the portions are small if you're concerned about us being unsatisfied. As our plates came out, they were served with a perfunctory description of what we ordered and nothing else was said before they rushed off to be somewhere else. We don't expect to be doted on, but the overall vibe was standoffish on a quiet morning. Given they prefer full orders up front for pacing purposes, and our server was enforcing cups on coasters, we thought it was odd that our plates weren't refreshed between courses. I don't mind reusing the jam and butter covered plate to eat my polenta, but it conflicted with what the restaurant is trying to project. Overall, food was good, service was weird.
