Great atmosphere and very comfortable. Jacob was an excellent server and checked on us regularly. Food was great and came out timely for our group. Apps came first and then our main dishes...surprised how some places don't give much time in between apps and main dishes.

Came into town to experience the fab fest for the World Cup. My husband and I wanted to have some dinner before going bar hopping. Found this spot near our hotel with good food options and with another bar full and couldn't accommodate us. I made reservations here. Super chill spot to watch the soccer games. We watched the Argentina vs Cape Verde game here at a high top table in the bar area. This place had a chill World Cup vibes if you don't want a loud crowd like the previous bar we were at. We enjoyed our beers. With their sunset happy hour appz. So yummy and our waiter was great! Super friendly staff. Super accommodating. And the biscuits are delicious! With a planned night of drinking in front of us we ordered the cheeseburger eggrolls! Oh wow. So so good. Perfect thing to split. We also split the truffle fries! Another wow! And I ordered the burger beef sliders. They needed to be dressed up some more with condiments but otherwise they hit the spot to coat the stomach.

Best filet mignon I've had in awhile. The service here at Federal downtown is always great. We sat at the bar and ordered sunset happy hour strawberry lemon drops. They were delicious. Back to the steak. I am very particular about my filets I prefer it medium Pittsburgh style. The chef here got it perfectly! It was so tender on the inside and crispy one outside, I devoured it. For sides I ordered truffle mash potato and Mac & cheese. I couldn't find a truffle in my mash tasted very regular. Besides that I enjoyed my meal. My husband loved his Ruben as it's his favorite here too.

The social hour is great! Great service, food, drinks, and service! A great spot to chill at after work.

Located in downtown, this is a newer branch of the chain that has multiple locations in the city. This is a downtown power lunch spot and it's fairly busy during lunch service. The interior almost looked like a mix of a sports bar but with sit down service. The food came out extremely slow, which was very annoying especially if you don't have all day to grab lunch. The food quality was okay; it's a step above fast food but not quite a finer dining level. The apps consisted of the fried shrimp and the ribs; both were alright (3.5/5). The smoked pork belly was so chewy that it was inedible (1/5). I got the snapper with fries for my main; the fish was fairly overcooked and everything else on the plate as expected. Our main dishes took over 45 minutes to get brought out, it was fairly awkward in terms of how long it took. Overall, it wasn't quick, the food was okay to slightly above average, and that's downtown for you.

Um my friends and I visited this place on a Wednesday and let me tell you. The staff in there were fighting for their lives. To start the place was a mess. Service was slow andddd the food was not good. Who would have thought that a Wednesday night would provide slow service. Apparently a conference was happening near by so they were not prepare allegedly. But yeah....I had ordered a ceasar salad ot wasn't great but alas I was hungry. I also ordered calamari which was generally not good at all. It was tart and soggy. They had brought over biscuits and I liked those the most out of everything and they were included. My friend reported the chowder was good but the burger was not. I expected better but we received mediocre service and food. I likely wont be returning .

Food is always delicious and the waiters and bartenders are kind and helpful. The restaurant is always clean and atmosphere is inviting. I will definitely dine here again. I ordered the half portion short rib and it was delicious paired with the mushroom risotto

The Victor Caratini cocktail - only $9 during Astros season!!! Yummmm

This is such a great spot to hit before an Astros game or after work. JT was our amazing Server. The caratini is a astros themed drink available game days. And the bar menu and service - it's fantastic. They offer valet at the curb and have good happy hours. Bring your co-workers and friends and enjoy!

The ambiance is casual but sophisticated. The service was great. My waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. But Kevin (manager) was even better. The strawberry lemon drop was too strong and bitter for our group, Kevin recommended a pear drink that was also too strong. I ordered the old fashion and it was amazing! Kevin came by and check on our group more times then I could count. He removed items from the table as we were done with them. The food was great. We went for social hour and it was amazing. Highly recommend!

I met some friends before A Rockets game. We had a couple of quick drinks and ordered off of their happy hour menu. Everything was delicious. The sticky ribs and bang bang shrimp are fantastic. Also, don't skip the oysters Rockefeller. The bar area is spacious and very inviting. Our server was quick to get a drink order. We had to press a couple times to get our food order, put in and to pay our bill so that we can get to the game. I don't think the server was aware that we were in as much of a hurry as we were even though they knew we were going to the game. But we made it in time and only missed tip off by a few minutes. This will be my go to the next time I'm in town and heading to a game.

Fried Cheeseburger Eggroll I didn't try this because it didn't look to appetizing to me.

We came with a group of ten coworkers after a round at Puttshack. It was around 5:30 PM and was pretty dead. The service was good, but the food was mediocre. The ribeye wasn't high quality steak. It was a bit on the tough side. I'm not expecting Wagyu , but just a better grade of beef for the price. It's conveniently located near Daikon Park and walking distance from the Puttshack. I've been to other Federal Grill locations and they're all the same. It's not one of my top choices, but it was nice to take the team here to enjoy drinks and the company.

Federal American Grill ended up being the PERFECT pivot for our night. We sat at the bar and were greeted immediately--service was on point from start to finish (shoutout to Freddie!). The real win here is social hour. $10 appetizers that are normally closer to $18? Say less. We ordered a few things to share: Cheeseburger egg rolls (slightly overcooked on the outside, but still good flavor) Cheeseburger sliders (simple, but my partner enjoyed them) Meatballs over mashed potatoes (THIS was a surprise--it's basically a full meal and very good) Bang bang shrimp (probably my favorite--great flavor and presentation) Drinks were also well done and consistent. The vibe is definitely more relaxed, social, and comfortable--not super fancy, but still nice enough for a casual night out. Overall: Good food, great service, and excellent value. I'd definitely come back.

This place was amazing! I forgot to take a picture of the appetizers, we got the Kung Pao Calamari and Spinach dip. Both were delicious. The calamari was very fresh and the homemade dipping sauce was off the chart. The Spinach dip was creamy and always our favorite. We were in Houston for the Astros game and the town was filled with visitors from all over for the FIFA World Cup games. The atmosphere was beautiful and elegant but at the same so welcoming and friendly. The service was fantastic. I ate the Truffle Stuffed Chicken and it made my mouth water if a mouthgasum was a thing! My husband got the meatloaf, I of course had a few bites. It was a little spicy but still scrumptious. The mashed potatoes on both our plates were sooo creamy and delicious I need the recipe.

She informed me that each cocktail was specially crafted by the "head bartender" and even let me try some samples. I believe at that time, I tried the Loaded Mashed Potato Balls and they were delicious/unique. This time around, I ordered the chicken Alfredo via DoorDash and had it delivered to my job. I can confidently say that my order was freshly made and was still indeed warm when it arrived. The sauce was nice and creamy and paired well with the fettuccine noodles and diced grilled chicken. The portion of the pasta was satisfying and was enough for me to eat about 4 servings from it. The ambiance of the restaurant is very lowkey and chill but nicely decorated and well lit. I would consider this restaurant and specifically this location a hidden gem.

Jonathan's The Rub - East End…read more I frequent this location almost weekly, so it's safe to say I'm a regular! The staff is consistently friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu. They're always happy to answer questions or offer recommendations. Happy Hour Happy hour is a HUGE plus! It's offered Monday through Saturday (yes, even Saturday!) from 2-6 PM at the bar. There are several drink options featuring gin, tequila, and vodka, along with wine and beer selections. My personal favorite is the grapefruit sangria. As for the happy hour food, you really can't go wrong! * Chicken Satay: Flavorful and well-seasoned. * Chicken Tenders: Available regular or Buffalo-style. You get two generously sized tenders. * JTR Sliders: Absolutely delicious! * Garlic Knots: Another solid choice. Lunch & Dinner Smash Burger: Hands down, one of my favorite smash burgers! It comes with cheese, pickles, Jonny sauce, and a generous portion of fresh-cut fries. What sets this burger apart is the seasoning and those perfectly crispy edges. The fries are the cherry on top! If you're a burger lover, this is a must-try. Soup de Julio: It was okay, but in my opinion, it could use a little more spice to bring out the flavors. Chicken Alfredo: I ordered mine with blackened chicken, chipotle, and added broccoli. AMAZING! The combination of flavors was delicious, and I would absolutely order it again. Houston & Greek Salads: I've tried both with blackened chicken, and both are great options. However, there are a couple of things worth mentioning. The Greek salad does not come with a traditional Greek dressing, so if you're specifically craving that classic Greek salad flavor, this may not satisfy the craving. The Houston salad, on the other hand, comes with a creamy dressing that has a little kick to it, which I really enjoy. My biggest complaint is the inconsistency between dine-in and takeout salads. When dining in, the salads are served with a sliced chicken breast. However, when ordering takeout, I've repeatedly received chopped chicken pieces that are often dry, hard, and disappointing. They previously served the sliced chicken breast with takeout orders as well, and I wish they would return to that. I generally dislike returning food, so I've kept the salads despite the disappointing chicken. Unfortunately, if this continues, I'll probably have to switch to fried chicken for my takeout salads, even though I'd prefer the healthier grilled option. Dessert Apple Crumble Cheesecake: It was okay, but I think it has the potential to be much better. Adding some cooked or sautéed apples into the cheesecake mixture before baking, or even as a topping, could really elevate the flavor and texture. That said, I would order it again. It pairs nicely with a cup of coffee and a good movie! Overall I'm clearly a serial eater at this location, and there's a reason I keep coming back! The food is consistently good overall, the staff is friendly, and the happy hour is one of the best perks. There are a few areas where I think improvements could be made, particularly with the takeout salads, but my overall experiences have been very positive. Jonathan's The Rub - East End remains one of my go-to spots, and I definitely recommend giving it a try!

Great service back then and great service again this time. Our server was pleasant, provided good recommendations, and we never felt rushed by him. The fried chicken was crisp, seasoned, and not dry at all! They have three sauces available. You can get all three for an extra cost of 50 cents each. Only 1 sauce is included in the whole chicken. Although, I do think a whole chicken should include 2 sauces. Was able to taste the shrimp and pork dumplings and they're solid. The agave butternut squash was what you'd expect from squash, but probably wouldn't get it again. Not that it was bad, but felt it wasn't anything special. I ordered the frozen La Lucha margarita and it did not disappoint! Great ambiance for a group of friends or a date night. Recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Slightly dimly lit inside to set the mood. Both indoor and outdoor dining. Parking lot is valet since it is shared with next door. I'm a longtime regular here, and my biggest recommendation is to ALWAYS make a reservation, especially if you're planning to dine on the weekend. Thanks to our reservation, we were seated immediately. However, it took around 20 minutes for a waiter to introduce themselves and even get our waters filled, despite there being plenty of empty tables throughout the restaurant. To make matters worse, other tables that were seated after us were being attended to first, which was a little frustrating. Nevertheless, we eventually placed our orders, and the food came out in a timely manner. We ordered a dozen of each of the two happy hour oyster options, along with the whole bird of fried chicken. While I've tried several other dishes here, I honestly don't think they're worth sacrificing the money or stomach space when I could be filling up on their delicious fried chicken and oysters instead. One thing I was slightly disappointed by this visit was the change in their fried chicken sauce policy. The whole bird now only comes with one sauce, and customers have to pay extra for additional sauces. Personally, I find this unnecessary, especially considering how large the whole bird is and how it's typically shared among multiple people. Naturally, a larger party would need more sauce to go around! With that in mind, I'd definitely recommend choosing either the Honey Sambal or Green Harissa if you're only getting one. The Smoked Oyster Mayo, while not bad, isn't anything particularly special to me. Overall, despite the disappointing service at the beginning and the new sauce policy, La Lucha still holds a special place in my heart. The fried chicken and oysters are reason enough to keep coming back, and I genuinely miss having this place so close to home. It's one of those restaurants that makes me wish I could just drive back whenever a craving hits. Needless to say, I'll be making another visit the next time I'm in Houston!
