My favorite brunch food is the Mother Earth Bowl with Salmon. The drinks remind me of Cava and Chipotle, except I think Cava wins when it comes to flavor, and Flowerchild is third place. Inside, it is busy. Not a great place to study in, but a great place to catch up! It's upscale, cozy, and bustling.

Everything was delicious and this is a great place for friends to catch up, eat healthy and hear each other when socializing! The only two issues I had was the restrooms, not sure because they are unisex, but gross. Water or something everywhere and stall spelt like piss. Lastly the seasonal sangria-was it a mocktail? I don't know. We got a pitcher for $28. It had so much ice it was so watered down. Couldn't even taste it. Also we thought it had alcohol but highly doubt it. I will stick to just eating here only. Service was great though. They were nice and patient!

Entree: Chicken with smashed gold potato (not what I expected - that's mashed!) and cauliflower risotto
    Annalisa P.

My first introduction to Flower Child was in The Woodlands maybe 7 or 8 years ago. Since then, they've expanded opening up locations in the loop within the city. They had a salad called strawberry fields, which was good and refreshing but not worth the price. It had fresh strawberries and bits of honeycomb in it. I've also tried the kombucha. Recently, I've been coming to this location because my co workers love to celebrate here for their birthdays to accommodate their dietary needs. It had been a while since I had been at any Flower Child location. The first time, I had the entree of pick a protein and two sides. I did chicken with cauliflower "risotto" and smashed gold potato. Everything from my bowl to the food was one color/monochrome - off white. Chicken was grilled fine, cauliflower risotto had good seasoning, but the smashed gold potato was actually mashed potatoes. I was thinking it would be those roasted potatoes that you smash after boiling then adding seasonings and baking it in the oven. It wasn't. Don't call it smashed. They're mashed potatoes. Since then, I've had their chicken enchiladas which are the best thing on the menu, in my opinion. I looked it up, and it's about 810 calories but loaded with about 2300 mg of sodium. That's more than enough for the whole week! Drink plenty of water. The sodium mainly comes from the queso, but I'm sure the chicken in the enchiladas are also seasoned. I like the pickled onions to cut through the saltiness and the sliced jalapeños for a spicy kick. There's a few greens tossed on top. Their sweet potato fries are also good with the buttermilk yogurt ranch. My co workers enjoy a variety of their other bowl options such as the Mediterranean chicken kabob and Mother Earth or opt for salmon and sides. This location is nice and clean. Service is friendly. It's great for groups with the lunch rush. Parking is congested because it also shares the lot with Via 313 and other businesses in that shopping center. Once you order at the register, you pick a seat and food is brought to you. The drinks and silverware are self serve towards the back end. There's other alcoholic beverages like beer and wine. If we don't order takeout, we'll definitely be back here to dine in again.

    Avocado Caesar

Great option for a quick-service, healthy meal. Quality is consistent, staff is always friendly, and food is always delicious. The Avocado Caesar is my go-to; delicious but light (not your typical Caesar dressing). Prices get a bit high when you add protein (ex: $5 to add chicken to the salad) so all-in with no drink runs you around $17+. I'll continue to pay it because I always enjoy myself here and leave feeling good. Parking - private lot or street; does fill up at lunch time so prepare to potentially have to circle around a few times.

Salmon with gluten free mac n cheese and brussel sprouts

Met up with some friends for dinner and had a great meal! I was delighted and suprised to see the great options they had for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free foods. They really do have lots of options for a variety of lifestyles and dietary needs. The space is very cute, the decor is bright yet cozy with lots of open space. They would be great for just a party of 2 or a large party. The staff is friendly and made some great recommendations. I really enjoyed the spiced apple and berry sangria and my salmon with gluten free mac n cheese and brussel sprouts. As someone who recently had to go gluten free I would have never know the pasta was different. Highly would recommend coming here for a good meal and fun atmosphere.

Salmon with Kale Salad and Sweet Corn & Quinoa
    Ryan P.

The interior is extremely cute with plenty of seating! The first thing I noticed is how fresh and bright it felt inside. I ordered Avocado Hummus and Salmon with Kale Salad and Sweet Corn and Quinoa as my sides. The avocado hummus was delicious and at first I was jarred by the pita to hummus ratio, but I found out you can just ask for more :) The salmon was cooked perfectly and tasted like standard salmon, but the sweet corn and quinoa was addictive. I'm pretty sure I finished eating that before I even touched anything else. The kale salad was also good with a slight citrusy kick. Overall the food was great, service was quick, and the atmosphere was nice! I need to come back soon to try other things off the menu.

Simple, whole food for the soul... Prepared with fresh ingredients... I chose the chicken, broccoli, and gluten-free mac... Although I requested buffalo sauce, it wasn't available, but my server recommended Cholula sauce, which turned out to be just as good ...

    Ginger Miso Crunch
    Ari K.

We came in a little before noon and it wasn't too crazy, just a little busy for the lunch rush! The place has a very open and sunny vibe and it's got cute decorations. I got the Ginger Miso Crunch Salad with the dressing on the side and nixed the sesame seeds. It was good overall! I liked the mint that was in it a lot.

    Mother Earth with tofu
    Sandra K.

I really don't know why I keep coming here other than hoping that what I get will be more delicious than the time before. I'm usually wrong. The only thing that's been consistently good is the tofu. Everything else has been hit or miss. Today I got a side of tofu and an order for the yuzu Brussels sprouts which were blah. They were kind of cooked but also super salty. Made me sad.

    My food and receipt

Beautiful, feel-good, place to eat fresh food. It was delicious and beautiful. I really like the decor.

Looks like Redondo beach, but it's actually Houston.
    Walter R.

Great 4.5 star "clean food" restaurant. If I could always eat this way, I might live to be 100. Organic "veggie forward" food, in a California beach type atmosphere. The service is quick, the food is interestingly complex, light, and full of flavor. Absolutely the place to go if you want a flavorful meal that won't weigh you down. My only complaint is that the lemon cake is only a cupcake, and not a giant slice as I had hoped. Put this on your list of post workout meals.

Everything here is flavored and delicious!!
    Michele M.

This location is my favorite. The flavor was definitely there. Simple: Shrimp, broccoli and mash potatoes

The ambiance as soon as you walk in is welcoming, inviting, and intimate. Even if you dine outside, you are sure to feel cozy like a meal in your own home. The hostess always makes you feel invited. Any waiter we have had here has given GREAT recommendations so it helps us break free of ordering the same thing over and over. We have never had a single day of bad service here so we have become regulars anytime we travel into the inner loop of Houston for business or fun. The flavors? My goodness the flavor here in every dish truly speaks to whoever is cooking these incredible dishes! We've even wanted to ask what we can do to even get our dishes at home this amazing! Their bang bang sauce is something you can rave about if you like a little kick to your broccoli. Yum! Luckily a lot of the appetizers are family style but we all still end up battling to finish the last bite before our main dish comes along! My husband has never been a vegetable eater and thanks to the Ginger Mule, we are changing up our dishes at home too! Whatever they are doing here, I hope they keep it up because we absolutely LOVE the food here!! Thank you to everyone here and we can't wait to be back!!!!

Hostess was welcoming, server was kind and the food came out relatively quick. Beautiful presentation and the flavors were yummy of the Texas toast French toast, the oat whipped cream & maple syrup were great. The Jupiter breakfast was $21 & the GF French toast was about $12 with $4 fruit cup. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my GF French toast. The mock-tail mule was nothing special for $9 of juice :/. In total we spent $58 which is a lot in our opinion. By all means it's not a bad spot and I'm sure other things you are good, but this was just our experience with what we got. There is a statue of a deity in the front of the restaurant & I welcome the Holy Spirit to come upon them all :). May Jesus be with them with eyes to see and ears to hear. It's been about a decade since my last review of Govinda's shortly after they first opened so it's…read morehigh time that I finally update that review after being a repeat customer over that time. Lots of things changed but Govinda's largely stayed the same. The decor hasn't changed but there is some wear and tear on the walls. Still clean, food still reliably good and has the homemade taste. They change up the menu daily and now they have 3 all vegan menu days to the week: Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Plus, weekdays have a themed specials that aren't necessarily Indian. They post their menus online but weekday menus are posted the day of on their menu Instagram "ghmenu". Weekend menus are typically posted on Thursday. They are still a buffet so service is minimal but it is pretty good but no frills. Unfortunately, they got rid of their salted lassi years ago so they only have mango lassi now along with mint lemonade for cold drinks. Price has gone up as well to around $18 (a little more for holidays and weekends) per person but that's to be expected. Carry out is $16.95 per meal (large take out container plus a soup, roti, salad, papadam, and dessert). You can opt of out of items but you'll still pay the same price. In the past decade, I still love their food but I can no longer eat as much to make it worth it to dine in so we've been getting take out (we took a brief break from buffets but I missed them so we went the take out route). One take out meal lasts me 2 meals at home so it's a no brainer (husband finishes the take out container in one sitting though). Plus, I have kids now and they definitely aren't good eaters so it didn't make sense for them to eat in. Over the last few months in Houston, we typically go once every 2-3 weeks because my picky kids absolutely love their saag paneer. I got them al a carte saag paneer ($10 for a half container, $5 for a half container of rice, $7 for a small container of an entree) until someone there suggested I just order an entree because it's the same price but you get more. And their plastic containers are limited. I started doing it but then one day, the main guy (manager?) wasn't happy since the big container was just rice, saag paneer, and maybe a little bit of dal makhani. I was a little miffed because if we ate in and all they ate was saag paneer, it would be okay. That aside, I noticed someone mentioned food allergies. The reason why I order Al a carte and segregate their take out container is because my youngest is allergic to wheat, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, avocado, pineapple, and kiwi. Their food is usually labeled but I like asking to be sure. On days they serve something that contains nuts, we just don't go (unless it's only in the dessert). My kids usually like the same things and we only go on non-vegan days. The general consensus is vegan days' food tends to be spicier. My youngest is okay with spice, but my eldest who is super picky won't eat it if it's too spicy. Plus, I love their makai kofta. If I'm in town and I see they have makai kofta, we are THERE. However, I noticed that their menu isn't always set in stone. One day, they didn't have my favorites but we went because I didn't want to cook and THEY HAD MALAI KOFTA. I was so pleased. If you love potatoes, their batada vada is divine (but moderately spicy). I also enjoy the BBQ tofu but they usually only offer it on vegan days so I haven't had it in a long while. They have special menus on holidays but they're vegan so I have unfortunately never tried any holiday menus. We moved but when I'm in town, we make sure to drive up north to eat here at least once. We absolutely miss Govinda's and my kids ask for their beloved saag paneer even when we're not in Houston. I should ask if they can part with the recipe! Haha.... We ordered catering in 2024 for my eldest's birthday! Even the non-vegetarians enjoyed it and you get a lot of food for less than $500. You choose from certain dishes but it still covered many of my Govinda favorites, if not all. Honestly, we'd do it again just for fun with close friends and family and have leftovers for at least a week after splitting it up with everyone. Price has probably increased though.

As soon as I walked in at lunch time, the restaurant was damn near empty with only two families. The host immediately sat me at a table front of the buffet line. There was a strong lingering smell of pine-sol and Mr. Clean in the air. Of course, that indication told me that the restaurant was clean. The items on the buffet line was plenty, but limited. I got the rice, tofu curry, chaat marsala, and some vegetables. Everything except for the chaat was bland. It wasn't very easy to eat while the smell of cleaning supplies was in the air. It reminded me of sitting in a bucket of cleaning chemicals while eating a meal. The tofu curry tasted only like turmeric, but no salt or pepper or anything. The rice was super bland. The chaat marsala was very tasty and well seasoned. I finished off with desserts which both options were tasty. I hope to return to try their holiday menu, but I think today was a bad day for the cooks.

Everything is pretty much green and white. There's covered patio seating. The individual taking orders seemed to have a bit of an attitude and just seemed "over it." Furthermore, we mentioned having a queso coupon and when we were given the total I placed my card on the reader and I was told that I did it too fast and the queso wasn't taken off. The odd thing was, we walked away and realized that they didn't add the queso and the coupon was for free queso so they could have just rung up an additional queso. This individual had the vibe of eye rolling everything, and it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth Some tips: You can order online to avoid any wait. Just go up to the pick-up window when it's supposed to be ready for a painless interaction There's a little bar area where you can get pre-packaged (to-go) salsas, pickled onions, limes, etc etc etc. the salsas are tomatillo, habanero, and jalapeño (I believe) You can order margaritas to go, which we did! Doshi House is a popular coffee shop and cafe located on Emancipation Ave. I finally got the chance…read moreto stop by in the morning for a coffee before work and was surprised to find it almost completely full, many of the customers being students. Not quite sure what to expect, I was pleased to see that it's completely plant-based including the pastries and no extra plus charge for alternative milks (praise!) I ended up ordering their pistachio latte which had a really rich, bold espresso note and a sweet cardamom finish at the bottom of the cup. I would definitely get this again but might try to stir it before drinking for a more even flavor distribution. In terms of the setting, there's lots of small tables and couches to work and study with either a small group or alone. They also have a back patio with additional seating, board games, and even a printer which can be hard to find in this day and age. Overall the vibe is relaxed and casual. Finally, while I had to wait about 30 minutes to order and receive my drink, I had some time to watch their workflow and would offer some suggestions for improvement to speed up their service. The staff all clearly put a lot of care into preparing each drink and were doing the best they could to move quickly, but the layout of the back counter area is fairly inefficient. To start, the ice well for cold drinks is on the complete opposite side of the register away from their espresso machines. This added a lot of steps for the staff to prepare iced coffee drinks. Secondly, the straws were also quite a reach for the staff across the counter, also by the ice well. Finally, the order retrieval process is not the best. There are no names written on the cups and customers are sometimes in the bathroom or outside on the back patio when their order is ready. It can be hard for the staff to locate the right customer or if the drink gets left on the counter, it's hard to know what it is and who it is for. Overall, a pleasant (plant-based!) discovery but hoping they might consider a few steps (pun intended) to reduce the strain on their staff.

We picked up our order about 3-4 minutes after getting the "ready" text and it was still before the estimated pickup time, but the food honestly wasn't that warm which is wild because everytime I pick up Indian food from any place even if I am a bit late it is piping hot or pretty hot. I don't think they even have a heat lamp or have the AC on too high. The smell of garlic when we walked in had me excited, but unfortunately the garlic naan ended up being the best part of the meal. We ordered medium spice since we were sharing with a younger family member who likes spice but doesn't want to sweat through dinner like we do. What we didn't expect was how sweet everything would be. The tikka masala tasted like sweet yogurt with a little garam masala for color. The chicken vindaloo was even more confusing. Vindaloo is usually tangy and vinegary, but this one was also sweet. It honestly tasted more like sweet tomato sauce than anything resembling a vindaloo. Nothing tasted bad in a spoiled sense, it was just very Americanized and very very sweet. The two stars are for three things: the clean location, the fast friendly service, and the garlic naan. If you have a very mild palate or prefer sweet food, you might enjoy this place. But if you're hoping for bold, tangy, flavorful Indian food, this probably won't be it.

The parking situation wasn't great -- mostly street parking, and it felt pretty hectic. The restaurant itself is quaint but small, so it gets crowded and loud inside. We had a patio reservation and were seated in the covered patio, which ended up being perfect since it was freezing outside and much quieter than the main dining room. For food and drinks, I ordered a nonalcoholic spritz, which was really refreshing. We shared a pizza that was pretty good, and I ordered the black pepper and parmesan spaghetti. It was okay -- not bad, but nothing too memorable. Overall, we enjoyed our food, and our waiter was very nice and attentive. I'd recommend trying it out and definitely making a reservation.

Considering the casual upscale nature of the restaurant, we expected a bit more attention to the table in terms of checking in order additional dishes / drinks. The tables were also quite small and our table in particular was a bit uncomfortable to dine at. Food wise, we were impressed with everything but their pizza's. Their appetizers were solid, both pasta dishes were delicious, and flavor and portions were solid. Their pizza style is a thicker crust style and we weren't a fan of the duck pizza at all, and their pepperoni based pizza was fine. Not the biggest fan of their dough or crust. Their cavatelli was delicious!
