Fantastic flavors all around. The chicken was well seasoned, and the fish was grilled nicely. It's impressive how much flavor they get from simple ingredients -- the cilantro added a really nice freshness. I have seen these spots popping up, and I was eager to finally give them a try. I'm a big Burger Joint fan, and knowing that the Taco Stand has the same owner I was optimistic This spot located in the Greater Heights is relatively new. There's a parking lot, but we went on the weekend, and while the interior didn't look overly full, it was somewhat difficult to find a parking spot. The restaurant itself is clean. Everything is pretty much green and white. There's covered patio seating. You order from a window and there's a large menu printed nearby The menu offers all sorts of tacos, meats, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, quesabirras, sides, and even kids meals. You can get beer, margaritas, and non-alcoholic drinks. There's also a breakfast menu The food was good, and it didn't take too long to come out. My main issue was the service. The individual taking orders seemed to have a bit of an attitude and just seemed "over it." Furthermore, we mentioned having a queso coupon and when we were given the total I placed my card on the reader and I was told that I did it too fast and the queso wasn't taken off. The odd thing was, we walked away and realized that they didn't add the queso and the coupon was for free queso so they could have just rung up an additional queso. hate to leave a negative review, but this experience really missed the mark. The food was underwhelming at best, nothing really stood out, and everything felt pretty bland. The salsa in particular was disappointing; it lacked any real flavor or spice, which is kind of the bare minimum for a good taco spot. Unfortunately, the bigger issue was that we didn't feel well after eating here, which made the whole experience even worse. I'm giving 3 stars because, honestly, the food is really good. I always get the chicken burrito, it's literally one of my favorite items on the menu, along with queso and chips. Delicious every time. However, the customer service at this location has been disappointing, especially compared to my visit yesterday. I ordered online both days, so all I needed to do was pick up my order at the window. Yesterday, the guy who handed me my food didn't greet me, no big deal, but he also didn't say thank you, have a nice day, or anything. I asked for sauce, and instead of grabbing it, he just pointed toward the door and closed the window. That was... wow. Okay, "thanks!" I came back today because, again, the food is that good. But now I see why maybe I shouldn't have. I stood at the pickup window for nearly two minutes, like seriously 2 minutes, with no acknowledgment. A lady came to the window, started preparing orders right in front of me, but didn't say a word. She looked at the screen, bagged items, and ignored me completely. Then another employee came up and talked to her, also without offering any help. If this is how the establishment is going to operate, I won't be back. Amazing experience at The Taco Stand Heights! I've tried the Webster and now this location, and I can say the quality of the food and the recipes are consistent and I love that. The staff was amazing so welcoming, and service was quick and efficient. Great atmosphere on the patio. We tried the queso, it was so good! With crispy nachos. We also had their special which is a Gordita filled with carne asada, queso and beans, spectacular! Reminded me of a torta, but tortilla instead of bread. We also had the quesabirria which is my favorite item in their menu, great birria, melty cheese and crispy tortillas, it is a must. The carnitas were delicious! 2.5. Not a great experience. Kinda unpleasant cashier talking to me and her headset at the same time. Chips came undercooked, which I've never experienced before. So chewy that they got stuck in my teeth. Worse was that I returned them and the cashier just sort of grabbed them without acknowledgement and started talking into her headset again. My girl and I are the only people in the place at this point. They use those long range blinking service things. Wasn't explained if I had to take them to the front or if they'd come out to me. Turns out I had to take it up multiple times to get chips, then drinks, then tacos. Sat outside but the most obvious access door was locked so had to loop round through the front both times. For such a small place it's unintuitive. Sounded like someone else was having a problem with the soda fountain while I was there, too. Tacos were good though not spectacular. Competitive pricing. Campechano is something different, nice and rich, but if you told me it was just barbacoa I wouldn't second guess you. Fried fish was meh, underseasoned. The salsa bar with escabeche was the highlight, but there's no bowls or anything so you have to awkwardly reach in there and carry handfuls of them. Overall just an odd vibe. Why in the hell would they pack an order of a burrito, four tacos and salsas in one small, very thin paper bag while all the tacos are leaking juices??? I believe it has to do with the manager there. The staff are poorly trained and in a situation where they could've fixed our order they decided to be rude and slam the window shut in our faces. Our order was completely wrong and when I asked for it to be fixed and refunded for stuff we did not order they basically told us to F off. Is $5 for a taco a bit expensive? Yes. Is theirs absolutely worth it? Also yes. The only taco I don't recommend is their grilled fish taco. The fish is overcooked and not having a creamy sauce makes it kind of bland and the salsas available don't compliment it well. The quesadillas are just phenomenal. To start off this review I have been coming here since I was a Sophomore in high school and am now going into my Senior year of college. I have always loved this place, the customer service has always been spectacular and of course the food is as well. This family of restaurants including the Burger Joint and Happy Go Lucky have always shown my family and I amazing customer service, until today. This afternoon my boyfriend and I went for our weekly Taco Stand run. We come here literally every week during the summer. I, without fail, always order the bowls and substitute the beans for more rice (which is naturally a cheaper food anyway). I had placed our order and in the middle of asking to sub the beans, the lady (the assistant manager named Karen) on the drive through microphone said that I would still have to pay an up charge for rice even if I had substituted it with the beans. I was extremely confused because I had been ordering this bowl for years and have never had anybody tell me this. I told her that, and she said "well I don't know who has been taking your orders but they must have been charging you without telling you." This makes absolutely zero sense because I have ordered inside many times and have looked at the tablet which shows that they haven't charged me. I was confused and said that I did not want the rice then and to keep the beans on it. We pull up to the front cash register and a new employee read back our order stating "chicken bowl with no beans" and I was confused. I said "no if y'all are going to charge me for the substitution then I still want the beans." The new lady was so sweet (great customer service) and brought the manager over. My boyfriend asked her to clarify that they charge for a substitution and she, with an immense amount of attitude says, "I just told you that." It wasn't the fact that she said that but the attitude that she gave my boyfriend and I was absolutely ridiculous. I told her I still wanted the beans and proceeds to say that since they already made made my bowl, that she can just give me a side of beans. So you can give me a side of beans but not of the rice? I'm so incredibly confused because I have genuinely been coming here for years, ordering the same thing, and have never had this issue let alone this awful customer service. Taco Stand has great food and normally great service but being disrespected by an assistant manager (Karen) makes me question if and when we will be back. It's sad to say we won't be having our weekly Taco Stand run for a while. read more

Tried this place out to catch up with some friend, the environment was nice especially for a friday night, they have tvs and were playing the astros game! The torta was very flavorful, specially paired with their jalapeño salsa. My friends tried the quesabirria which they enjoyed and we shared the chips and queso! I saw them on Uber Eats so I decided to give them a try cause I had to buy one get one free for quesadillas. They were OK. Not the best not the worst. I put the green sauce on them to give them some flavor. Very greasy. Not much flavor on the meat. Maybe I caught up on a bad day, but I wasn't really a fan of them. Nonetheless, like before, I received great service. The man taking my order was very kind. I ordered 1 barbacoa taco and 1 grilled fish taco on flour tortillas. As expected, there was a bit of a wait. No big deal because the line was long and it was Christmas. This time around my food was delicious! Seasoned well and was super filling. The portions were pretty large as well. I was super pleased. I think another reviewer mentioned improvements have been made and I definitely agree. I ordered a regular fountain drink, and as shown in the picture the price is $2.49. Arriving at the window and the "manager" charges me $3.49. No big deal, however instead of abiding by their posted menu and pricing, she decides to pick a fight about how it's the new system they have adopted and the menu has not changed. So, first lesson learned, they are snakes at the Taco Stand trying to take advantage of your money when you are not double checking the receipt. It is untruthful to be charging one price at the counter and advertising another. I've eaten here multiple times..the street tacos are REALLY GOOD! However, I had a shrimp burrito yesterday and it was terrible. Every piece of shrimp hadn't been peeled, so naturally they also weren't deveined. It was crunchy and I could taste the poop in the shrimp...I couldn't finish it.
