Man bro... I'm not blaming the workers for nothing more than not giving a flying crap about their jobs. Walking up and getting a sniff of that disgusting alley out back, then leaving was disgusting as funk. Food was hella decent, but now we have stomach aches. It let's me know what it ill' back in the kitchen. Man it's hot where I'm from, and I came to have a good meal, but was met with the trashiest joint on the block. The owner should be ashamed of himself. You shamed me real bad. read more

A must visit every time i'm in Houston if only just for the delicious queso. We got the hillbilly queso this time but you can't go wrong with any! So creamy and flavorful, and the chips are always fresh and crispy. I got the Mr. Orange which is one of my favs, the salmon and combination of sauces is delicious! The trailer park honestly wasn't as good as I remembered, but I dipped it in the queso and still enjoyed! We went for lunch on a Friday and it was mostly empty, ordered at the counter and the food came out very quick. read more

Torchy's is definitely on my list of favorite places to eat. Thank you for finally giving us nachos lol I haven't stopped ordering them since they rolled out. Super affordable and a great portion size. You can't go wrong with anything that has their delicious green chili queso in it. I do wish they offered to upgrade it to a hillbilly queso because that would make it even more delicious. read more

Great concept and amazing selection of tacos. The food itself was delicious, although nothing really blew me away, maybe I should try a few different flavors next time. The absolute highlight of the visit was the service; the staff here are incredibly nice and attentive. read more

Tacos - baha shrimp is standard good (favorite one), trashy trail park (fried chicken second best), the hipster (secret menu fried fish third best), republican (beef brisket), green chile pork missionary style (secret menu but one of the least flavorful and monotonous taco, I thought I saw guacamole as part of the ingredient list but only later realized it's only the regular green chile pork that was ordered) the server and staff was super nice and able to remake the missionary style taco and they went above and beyond to accommodate it (love you torchys)! super sad that ace of spades went away though! Ambiance - casual and outdoor space available for nice weather too Service - 5/5 super sweet staffs! Would definitely come back just for them read more

Loved this Torchy's. Got my food fast, great vibe, and I left my debit card there and they kept it for me and didn't let someone take it. And the food was just killer. 9/10 would eat here again read more

I was visiting my best friend and I always hear her talk about how she's going to eat Torchy's Tacos so I decided we had to make a trip. Upon leaving the airport our first stop was to get a breakfast taco and ultimately decided to get some lunch items as well (it was around 11AM). I ordered the Wrangler which had brisket, eggs, cheese and potatoes and a Baja shrimp taco with a chipotle sauce. Additionally I got the taco of the month, The Churroscoe which had fried chicken, a churro, a fried egg and a bourbon bacon marmalade served with Diablo sauce. I also tried the street corn. The brisket breakfast taco was incredible and filling it was stuffed with delicious brisket along with the hearty potato and cheesy eggs paired with the tomatillo salsa it was absolutely amazing. I also enjoyed the Baja shrimp taco as well which had an explosion of flavors and a nice fresh bite to it. The Churroscoe was my least favorite as it was really sweet and also just didn't look the most appealing but still creative and tasted well overall. The street corn was really good with lots of flavor and paired well with the Baja taco. I thoroughly enjoyed stopping here and will be doing so in the future when I visit. read more

Torchy's Tacos - Rice Village (for the tacos and terrific team) Torchy's in Rice Village is everything you want in a taco spot--flavorful, inventive, and reliably delicious. Whether you're in the mood for something classic or something bold, the menu delivers. The real magic, though, comes from the people. Amanda, Ameris, Katie, Stephanie, and Carlos are absolute gems. Their energy, kindness, and attention to detail make every visit feel like a treat. They are the heartbeat of this location. That said, I'd be remiss not to mention that the overall vibe sometimes feels a bit off when the general manager, Melisa, is present. Her approach doesn't quite match the warmth and positivity the rest of the team brings. It's a small shadow on an otherwise glowing experience. Still, Torchy's in Rice Village is a fantastic spot--and thanks to the crew, it keeps me coming back. read more

I'm from out of town, I wanted some good authentic Mexican, and accidentally landed at a Tex Mex food chain?? The Beef fajita taco was super flavorful and amazing! They didn't warn me the beef would be rare. (I'm pregnant). The fried avocado taco was not something I'd get again. They had fun recipes on the menu... so if I was actually living here I MIGHT come back to try other things but I would way rather have authentic Mexican from a good truck. So I won't be back ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ We are just here for four weeks, so I want to eat the best and the best. This is "good" but I would equate it to chipotle Also I'd get 3 tacos to fill me up read more

This is a fun, fast place to go and enjoy a unique taco experience. The staff have great suggestions and we're very patient with me as a new client. They suggested their famous queso dip and let me tell you if I wasn't full from the 2 tacos I had, I would've scarfed down the whole serving they sold me! I think it was called the hillbilly queso. But it was good.!! The place is a mix of fast food and dive but it's a neat place to get a quick bite. read more

Torchy's Tacos - Tex-Mex Near Me - Houston, Texas

Helpful at the front counter but that's about where the positives end. Tacos are average in an area with no TexMex. Fortunately in Houston, there are plenty of local choices that would blow this place away. Tacos were greasy, and tasted old. Should have known as the place was basically empty. Originally tried Torchy's in Denver and thought this would stack up here but nah, not even close. read more

Torchy's? More like Torture's." Listen, I went to Torchy's thinking I was about to have a religious taco experience. Everyone hypes it up like it's the Beyoncé of tacos -- spoiler alert: it's more like the Nickelback of Tex-Mex. First of all, the tacos are trying way too hard. I don't need a taco that's having an identity crisis with 15 ingredients and a name like "Trailer Park Trashy." Pick a vibe, sweetie. Then the line? Longer than my last relationship -- and just as disappointing when I finally got to the end. The queso was fine if you like your cheese dip with a side of regret and grease slick. And don't even get me started on the prices. For what I paid, I expected the taco to whisper affirmations and pay my rent. If you want to experience true disappointment wrapped in a flour tortilla, by all means -- Torchy's is waiting. But if you actually like flavor, heat, or joy? Run. Also if you want to go to the highway of hell like AC DC says this is the place read more

You don't know what hangry men look like. I was one of them this Wednesday. I skipped my breakfast for an optometrist appointment. After I was done, I wanted to visit a shop in Montrose. While trying to avoid stuck in the single lane on Shepherd and Westheimer, I decided to make a sharp turn into Torchy's Tacos parking lot. Yeah. I was glad that I did. The food here was much healthier than other fast-food restaurants. I only spent less than $10 to get one Mr. Orange Taco (6.15) and a bowl of Refried Beans ($2.95). My meal looked small but it sure filled me up. I was quite satisfied with customer service. I didn't catch his name but he was funny to tell me the size of the taco. I know it's a standard line, but his hand was much bigger than normal taco size. That's cool. read more

The tacos good but they have increased their prices and for 1 taco it"s very expensive. If you order 2 tacos your already at $12 dollars without a drink or side. SO need I say I would rather go somewhere that has a drink included or a side for that price. I made up my mind that when I want tacos I will prepare them myself, its cheaper and I can prepare whatever side I choose for a cheaper price and more to eat. read more

I'm not one to write reviews unless a business absolutely Wow's me or incredibly disappointed me, but I had to give five stars to torchy's tacos on South Shepherd my mom and I went in on Good Friday and we were worried that they were going to be closed but not only were they open but Lupe and Emma gave us the best service we've ever had and we go to torchy's A LOT. Not only were they attentive and fast with our order, but they always had a smile on their face and they were always happy to help. When I went to fill my fountain drink the Coke zero was empty so my mom told Lupe and within five minutes she had it fixed. All in all the BEST experience we've ever had at torchy's tacos 10 stars for Emma and Lupe. read more

First visit to a Torchy's Tacos. Six of us for lunch and we ordered the spectrum of menu items. Trailer park tacos, Shrimp Tacos, Beef burritos, Chicken tacos. All very good in quality, quantity and favorable. Great bottomless comped chips with queso sauce. Service was outstanding with the manager and staff checking our needs. Plenty of clean tables and room for our party. Will visit Torchy's in the future. read more

I would say that this place is really good. I wouldn't say it's my favorite taco place. But the queso there is the best I've ever had. I would've given them a higher rating if there was one table available that wasn't dirty. It doesn't look like they clean a lot and what we had to clean up our table which had sauces spilled everywhere and empty bottles and plates which i was not thrilled with. the wait for food is not long though. I would go back but probably get togo from now on. read more

Arrived at 8:55 which is not ideal. Completely understandable... as they close at 9:30 However I was stopped at the door, and asked what I needed in a rude manner. Clearly everyone was upset I was there, as there was no welcoming environment or friendly mood. Nevertheless, I wanted to place a to go order. I placed my order and waited patiently at the door, as employees were bustling, cleaning the place before close. I waited no more than 10 min, and was handed a bag. Since I was very hungry, I decided to eat in my car. The tacos were COLD. The entire food was cold. I accepted my fate that I might accidentally get food poisoning, as I was hungry and had no choice. What's sad, is that the employees made no attempt to even heat the food, let alone use a microwave. Again, I get that I arrived 40min to close, but the general rule of thumb is don't come 10min before close. This place needs an overhaul on employees and training on customer service. The eye rolling, huffing & puffing and attitude is something I would expect from a middle schooler. Not grown adults. read more

I had been to Torchy's before but it had been well over 5 years. I don't remember the taste that well but I know all the food was good. Plus they were highly recommended by family and friends. We ordered, trailer park extra trashy, fiesta steak and a democrat taco. Along with chips & queso, kids quesadilla and street corn. Trailer park was ok at best. The way people were recommending it left and right was nowhere to be found. The taco was ok - 5/10. The rest of the two were good enough to make the entire experience worthwhile. Chips & queso and the street corn were the stars of the show. They were mind boggingly delicious. When I visit next time, that's all I'd probably get. Regardless of the underperforming food as a whole, I give it 4 stars because of the service. The lady was nice enough to give us free tacos for next time. read more

The food was okay. I ordered the wrangler and steak fajita. The shredded cheese was not melted on either taco because the food was not hot enough. I think the taco stand is more consistent. read more

I have to say this place has the best burritos in town. I especially like that they use refried beans. I get the one with chicken. Next, you have to love that there's a bar open at 8 AM on weekdays. Clarissa is a wonderful host/bartender and takes wonderful care of me. read more

Decent food, quick service, but the odd smell is unnerving. This Torchy's was the very first place I stopped by for food the day I moved to Houston. As I was starving, I had ordered a couple Trashy Trailer Park tacos and a chips and queso. The first thing I noticed upon entering was the smell. Although it didn't permeate the entire building, it was pretty strong by the cashier's stand close to the bathrooms. Now, I have been to this Torchy's a few times since, and the bathrooms are definitely quite clean. So I'm not sure why there's a smell, but it's been there every time. The food itself has always been spectacular, including on my first day. The chicken tenders in the tacos were so crispy on the outside and yet tender on the inside, and the queso on top made it incredibly flavorful. I highly recommend using the poblano sauce as well as it complements the taco and makes it sing so well. The actual queso was everything I'd hoped for - warm, creamy, packed with various flavors. With the hot sauce and guacamole in the middle, it was a roller coaster in each bite. Overall, it's a great spot to grab food for a night in. I don't think I'd be eating in person, but it's still worth the visit! read more

Such a cute, quick place to grab some food! You walk in and order at the counter, sit down, and the food is brought to your table when it's ready. The menu is fairly big, so take your time picking out something you like! They do have a "secret menu" if you ask for it - which has 3-4 more taco options than what's listed on their main menu on the website and in the restaurant. The Baja shrimp taco was a favorite, as well as the Diablo salsa (their version of a habanero salsa, although was not overwhelming or unbearably spicy) - great place to check out for a casual lunch! read more

Delish queso and ok marg. Would go back just for the queso and chips! Staff were so nice too.

This is for the Torchy's in 2411 Shepherd drive, Houston. Service was fine ordering to go, however, the food... The queso was 70% full, less meat in the fajita taco, and everything that should have been hot was almost cold. If you want Torchy's go to the one at Weslayan St. they are consistently good in almost every order. Also, there was an already squeeze lemon inside a taco. read more

Torchy's Tacos never disappoints! Their queso is hands down the best in Houston--creamy, flavorful, and totally addictive. I also love their guac--fresh and full of flavor. I try to eat here as often as I can. Definitely one of my go-to spots! read more

I've been to this location several times in the past year so i finally decided to review it. Let me start by making it clear that these are some bomb a** tacos. The crossroads is my absolutely favorite; the beef brisket is insane and has little crispy bits in it. Baja shrimp is another great choice, relatively lighter than some of the others. The fried avocado is another must try even if you are not a vegetarian. They get a good crunch on the avocado and it is surprisingly filling for a veggie option. Their breakfast tacos are solid, migas is really good and has crunchy chips mixed in. Whatever you get make sure to try the diablo sauce. It's bright orange and has a ton of flavor for a pretty spicy sauce. So why 3 stars and ive raved about the food? They are a little on the pricier side compared to some other taco places. The servers are super nice but service can be veryyyyy slowww. This is not a great go to when you are in a rush or starving. read more
