I got through college eating Cabo Bob's in Austin and have been to this location in Houston a handful of times. I recently went for a quick casual weekday lunch while I was in the area and Cabo Bob's definitely fit the bill. I came at close to 2pm on a weekday and I have to say this was the emptiest I've ever seen a Cabo Bob's. I'm used to waiting in a line that goes to the door but that definitely wasn't the case this time, so I was happy to walk right up to the tortilla station. My go-to has always been the crispy fish burrito with an ancho chile tortilla. And stuffed to the max ;). Unlike other burrito chains, I really like that Cabo Bob's has sautéed squash & zucchini as well as sautéed onions & peppers. Not to mention the CRISPY fish, which is truly crispy. These for me help CB'd stand apart from those other burrito chains. On my most recent visit, the lady behind the counter was super sweet and asked how my day was going as she was stuffing my burrito. She also brought out a fresh batch of crispy fish for my burrito, and made sure I was aware. I don't think I've had this level of service on any of my visits. While the burrito tasted great and filled me up as always, I will say I was a bit bummed this past visit because the burrito fillings were distributed unevenly. My first several bites on the end were all rice and beans, and it was t until I reached the middle that I actually found some protein. This was a bit disappointing and I ended up breaking my burrito apart so that I could eat it bowl-style just so that I could eat the insides in equal amounts. I will give them credit though for stuffing my burrito to the max...to the point the ancho chile tortilla was starting to break at the seams. I know that this visit was probably a one-off so I'll be giving Cabo Bob's another try in the not-too-distant future and look forward to having my crispy fish burrito again. Perhaps with a side of their heavenly chips.

Food: my first time eating the tacos and they were delicious! Super good flavor and they tasted so fresh! The cilantro lime (I think?) tortilla were so good, I just remember they were green haha Service: super efficient and friendly Ambiance: lively

Cabo Bob's is the kind of spot that ruins other burrito joints for you. Like, once you've tasted greatness, it's hard to go back to mediocrity, you know? The moment you walk in, the vibes hit you - fresh ingredients, a fun laid-back atmosphere, and the smell of tortillas being pressed right there in front of you like some sort of carb-filled magic show. Those tortillas? life changing. Soft, warm, slightly chewy...honestly, I'd eat one plain and still leave happy. The protein options are insane. Everything tastes clean, flavorful, and like someone in the kitchen actually cares about seasoning. And the toppings? A customizable masterpiece. Pile it on, baby. They somehow make every combo taste like it was meant to be. The staff is always fast, friendly, and ready to roll your burrito like its a competitive sport. The line moves quick, the portion sizes are generous (like "I definitely didn't need that much but thank you" generous), and the prices make you feel like you're getting away with something. Whether you're grabbing a bowl, burrito, tacos, or their ridiculously good chips and queso - you're winning. Everything slaps.

This place has easily become part of the rotation! Absolutely incredible food, friendly staff, and good vibes. This place is always bustling-- singles, couples, families, friends all under one roof making it a fun place to hang out. Tortillas are made fresh in front of you. Ingredients are well cooked and flavorful! And they don't skimp on the portions one bit. My burrito was easily 3 lbs, and same for those before and after me. Flavors of freshness of the toppings mixed with char from well grilled veggies and chicken, lathered in spicy and crisp salsas makes for the perfect bite that keeps you wanting more! Better than other burrito/bowl chains by a mile! Also, seems like the fish was very very popular, especially in taco form. Might be worth a try! Will keep yall updated as I try other options available! Rating : 4.5/5, easily

This place has been on my list to try for awhile the next time I was in town and this was the time. Menu online and at the location was a bit confusing because it didn't show per taco pricing. Online ordering shows $9+ for one which is incorrect. Anyways me, my mom and sis all ordered the 3 taco option #1 fish tacos. I watched them make my tortilla fresh, very cool. Nice and thin. Then they proceeded to make my mom's tacos first and then when they came to make mine and my sisters , they were out of fish , so they made the tacos with the cabbage and the pico on the bottom waited for the fish placed that on top and then drizzled the sauce. This turned out to be a mess, protein needs to be on the bottom. My sis was so irritated that she asked for hers to completely be remade. I went ahead and took mine because I was hungry but was not happy. I feel like they could have assembled better and used more pico & sauce could have had more flavor. We also got chips & queso both were delicious - my fav type of chips. It was packed, especially with a younger crowd but plenty of seating including outside which is appreciated since I had my pup with me.

Whew baby where do I start..... so first things first visit Cabo Bobs... you walk in and there's usually. Line out the door so actually don't go during the lunch rush but still go. You go in and there are four tortilla flavors and they make the tortilla in front of you. LITERALLY I got the cilantro tomatillo tortilla and loaded up a brisket burrito. And ooouu the brisket is tender and juicy ... the chicken is good too it's not overcooked or dry like some of its competitors... for $10 I walked out with a burrito that weighed the same as a newborn baby... talk about getting your moneys worth. I did not dine in. However, they have indoor and outdoor seating. Customer service is great too. Parking might be an issue cause the large amount of customers do take the limited spots fast.

First timer and stoped on a whim on my way back to the office. Walked in to a packed line so I decided to go online to better view my options of the menu. Saw that they had curbside so I ordered there. Burrito steak with the green cilantro tomatillo tortilla, white rice, Baja beans, steak obviously, sautéed onions, sautéed poblano, zucchini and squash, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, cilantro, mango pico, and chipotle creama. Dude!!! OMG. Do you know that taste that you get from a weekend "carne asada" at your tio's house growing up? Well, this has that same effect. I had my own Anton Ego moment with taking it back memory lane to my childhood. The burrito was heavy, full of flavor and very filling. It came whole(Next time. I'll make sure to have them cut it in a half) I also ordered the churro Blondie for dessert. My sweet tooth wouldn't allow me to drive off without taking a bite. Not all that impressed with it. The texture was a bit off for me, not your typical chewy, moist texture that you would expect from a blondie. This was very dense towards the outer edges but it did get better towards the middle. The outer edges had a refrigeration taste to it, but the middle did hit the spot. I'm assuming these are not made in house and are probably outsourced. Regardless, I was happy with my lunch, I would just skip the desert next time lol. BTW, after I placed my order, I got out of line and went into my car to park in their designated area for pick up. My order was out in less than 10 minutes! Friendly staff too, so that's always a plus! Think of it like a Chipotle but for people that like flavor HA!

It might be overwhelming seeing the full parking and long line inside but trust me the line moves fast. Cabo Bobs, another establishment from Austin that has stepped into the Houston scene, knows what they are doing. If you are getting a burrito or tortilla on the side, you get four very yummy house made options: buttermilk, tomatillo, ancho chili, and queso. I love being to smell the flavor of the tortilla before I take a bite. I've also tried the brisket nachos and I love it. Also I add the mango pico to everything, super unique! I love this place and will continue to tell my friends about it

I'm a big fan of these BYO burrito style restaurant. Places that have unique experiences or a variety of options are where I gravitate, and I had heard great things about Cabo Bob's, and I wasn't disappointed There was a lot construction in the area, and it took a bit of effort to get to this place. I purposefully chose a time for lunch that I thought wouldn't be peak lunch hours (1-2pm), and when I got there there were at least 20 people in front of me in line The interior is decorated with a chill surfer vibe. There are plenty of surfboards, aquatic themes, micro bus, and other hippie/surfer decor. It is very inviting and feels similar to a Jimmy Buffet experience. The vibes a very pacific oriented. Cabo Bob's was inspired by that Californian/Baja vibe, and they decided to open shop in Austin and eventually expand to Houston The menu offers more entrees, flavors, ingredients, toppings, etc than your chipotle's or Freebirds. The proteins are more extensive, and even the tortillas have more flavors Some tips: There is a side menu while in line that has signature entrees and burritos if you don't want to build your own. The chips and queso are delightful. The chips are deep fried and fresh. Use the signature sauces that are placed on the tables. It's almost a steak sauce in flavor. Also, they will put any of the ingredients in your burrito which means your burrito can get massive! Consider getting utensils to help eating anything that may fall out of the burrito Cheers!!

This is my favorite burrito chain in TX and ordered 2 Grilled Chicken Burritos, one on cilantro tortilla and the other on ancho chili tortilla yesterday night. I requested light cilantro rice, light cheese, green peppers, onions, tomatoes, cilantro and some type of spicy cream sauce in a light amount. I ate both of them right there on the spot and both were so comforting, fresh, flavorful and really delicious. The chicken was seasoned well and had that smoky chargrilled vibe to it. The other stuff I mentioned were all very good in the mix. The service was very good as well. Why the hell they even keep that tasteless and low quality Chipotle in business down here is beyond me lol.

I am not big on burrito chains and normally do not frequent places like this or chipotle so I was not not sure what to expect when a friend suggested this for lunch. On a Friday at around 12pm this place was packed! The set up is similar to that of chipotle (assembly line) and the line actually moved pretty quickly despite the rush. They offer different types of tortillas which I thought was pretty cool! They also make the tortillas fresh right in front of you which was awesome. I ended up getting the cilantro (green) one for my chicken quesadilla. I honestly could not taste the flavor at all - it just tasted like a regular tortilla to me but it was still good! The ingredients were all very fresh- something that I think set this place apart from other burrito chains in my opinion. The chicken in my quesadilla had so flavor and was BIG for the price. They also offer a variety of sauces, some spicy, and some not but ALL are so flavorful. Place was clean, and the service was fast and friendly. I can definitely see myself coming back!

Quick snack / protein fix , the hippy cousin of chipotle with flare , with out the cost ( depending on order and amounts )

Portion size is huge but so good!! The dough is fresh, they make it in front of you and it is the best tortilla ever, the perfect amount of doughy consistency. This place just feels very fresh and if it's possible to say...healthy. It is a buffet style, you tell them what toppings and assemble your burrito that way. There are other options to order as well, tacos and plates. Overall, this place is a "healthy" alternative to Tex mex.

Ask the Community - Cabo Bob's Burritos

Does the crispy fish contain dairy? Would the fish burrito without crema be dairy free?

The crispy fish has egg in the breading (no milk or cream, though). If you got the Fish Burrito without the Chipotle Crema, because it has cream, it would be dairy-free (so long as you don’t count eggs as dairy. Not sure why they do!)

    Are there gluten-free options?

Essentially, our entire menu offering is gluten-free, with the exception of our flour tortillas and our crispy fish. So, all of our meats, sides, sauces, and salsa are gluten-free. We serve a gluten-free soft corn tortilla for our tacos. We also… Read more

Do any of the Tortillas, rice or beans use lard?

No. We do not use lard in the preparation of the tortillas, rice, or beans. We don’t use lard in any of our recipes.

For entrees, we tried the enchilada rojas, chilaquiles verde w/ chicken and beef, birria barbacoa ramen, and huaraches. It reminds me that I had stopped going long ago when they charged extra for onions on enchiladas. Come on. You don't charge extra for chopped onions! I have never been to another restaurant that does so. Some even provide carmelized grilled onions gratis. I'm convinced that a $15. YUMMY mango margarita at Pappasitos would have given us the same buzz & tasted better than 8 happy hour margaritas here. I used to love the in house made flour tortillas at Teo. Tonight they were tough & uneventful. We arrived on a week night when they were not busy. Neither of the salsas were as good as they used to be.The water pitcher didn't even have ice when they refilled the water. I have absolutely no desire to return. Why would I?

(NOTE: ONLINE MENU ISNT COMPLETELY UP TO DATE)…read more First time here and had a great brunch experience! My husband's cousin raved about having dinner here the week prior so we decided to try out the Sunday brunch. My husband and I were somewhat skeptical at first based off of the photos. This is not our typical Mexican food. The plates looked a lot smaller online, but I am so glad we tried it because it was delicious!! To start we had a few drinks: 1. Flor de Fuego - it tasted like agua de jamaica with a splash of citrus, in my opinion it was very refreshing 9/10 2. Frozen Margarita - my husband's cousin ordered this in a yeti tumbler, he said the margarita was really good except it was a bit hard to drink since it was frozen the whole time lol 8.5/10 ***tumbler was an additional cost. It is a 16oz yeti. They do offer $10 refills anytime you bring the cup back 3. My husband drank a pacifico. Classic beer. They offered it in both bottle and in glass. 9/10. 4. Carafe mango mimosa - this served about 4 drinks total. It was very champagne forward with the tiniest amount of juice 7.5/10 APPETIZERS: 1. Housemade Bacon w/ Salsa Ranchera - in my opinion this was DELICIOUS. The salsa on this was amazinggg. This dish also comes with a side of authentic flour tortillas. 10/10 2. Tiradito de Hamachi - meh, it was good but wouldn't order again. It literally just tasted like strawberries with a salty aftertaste. We really wanted the aguachiles but they were no longer on the brunch menu. 6.5/10 3. Enfrijoladas - surprisingly this had a lot of flavor, it was paired with the same salsa at the bacon 10/10 ENTREES: 1. Ensalada de cesar - pretty solid, very lemony 8/10 2. Steak and eggs - this was really good, i would say that the steak looked a lot bigger online but it was still overall a delicious filling dish 9.5/10 3. Chilaquiles Divorciados - Probably my favorite thing on the menu. YOU NEED TO TRY THIS WITH THE BARBACOA! It had so much flavor to it and the barbacoa just melts in your mouth 10/10 4. Bacon Burrito - the other couple ordered this and said they enjoyed it, we all expected it to be a lot bigger though 8/10 DESSERT: 1. Tres Leches - the jam on this wasnt my favorite. It was very overpowering. The cake itself was really good. Would order again with fresh strawberries, no jam 7.5/10 2. Banana Pudding Bunelo - its your typical bunelo with a small amount of banana cream filling, topped with homemade banana ice cream 7.5/10 3. Masa Pancake - I am not the biggest fan of pancakes so I didn't try it but the other couple enjoyed it OVERALL: 9/10 experience!!! Total for our portion (Hamachi, 2 drinks, salad, steak, chilaquiles, and tres leches) came out to a total of about $120. We Will definitely be coming back to try out their dinner menu. Unfortunately, we were told that the green spaghetti is no longer on the menu !!!!

Our culinary journey started with tuna two ways, and this first bite was actually my favorite of the entire meal. The flavors were impossibly punchy with well-balanced savory notes that were perfectly highlighted by the accompanying bubbly pairing. 5 courses in all, and all of it was delicious. Another highlight was the steak course and the heavenly chocolate dessert course, which was expertly paired with their take on an espresso martini. Chef's kiss! The restaurant is actually quite tiny, and I found it to be on the warm/muggy side, and it wasn't even that hot outside. Also, from a decor perspective, they could certainly use a "freshening up" though perhaps a newer larger location would be a better idea. Still, based solely on the food, my foodie friends and I agreed we would absolutely be back. Their Bibendum nod is well-deserved!

In addition to this, there can be a significant 2-4 hour wait to get seated during peak hours. However, all of the customers I spoke with stated that once you were able to sit down, the overall experience was worth waiting for. The main feature that makes Doña Leti's stand out from other restaurants is its focus on tradition in terms of how the food is made. Each dish has very unique flavors. The dishes are also very large portions and offer a great amount of comfort while still being high end. Additionally, the drink offerings are an excellent choice. They are made with the same attention to detail as the meals, and add to the flavor and enjoyment of your meal. The staff provides exceptional service even though the establishment is full. The staff keeps up with the large number of people coming in and out with a sense of professionalism and friendliness. One thing that Doña Leti's does exceptionally well is provide a lot of food for the price. As long as you don't mind waiting for your table, you will have a wonderful dining experience. The fact that Doña Leti's is so busy is proof that the service, food and drinks are all good, and well worth the wait

Upon walking in the restaurant was clean it was pretty packed for a Wednesday night but the aroma of the food! OMG! Our server was really nice and patient because my friend and I talked for about 30 minutes before we finally ordered our food. He has the beef enchiladas with rice and black beans. He cleaned his plate...literally not a grain of rice in sight! I had the smoked chicken verde enchiladas and WOW! What an amazing dish. I consider myself a Mexican food connoisseur especially being from California. I have always said Tex Mex?.....eeeeyuck! But Candente has changed my tune! I will definitely be back to visit when I return!

Glowing red. Burning. Candente…read more Let me start by saying that I'm not into Mexican food unless it's an auntie or grandma making it at their house. I prefer traditional homemade Mexican food but here we are. (Oh I googled and suggested this place lol) Went in for a team lunch on a Friday. Coworker's birthday lunch and she wanted Mexican. Party of 9 and we were seated promptly. They have a lunch menu and a happy hour as well as a full menu and full bar. The interior was nicely decorated. And open. There is bar seating and patio seating as well. Our waitress was Aisha and she was amazing. Friendly, helpful and patient. And able handle our large group and a few more tables with a smile. There were a variety of options. Salads, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, etc. Also complimentary chips and salsa. My Order: chicken tortilla soup, lunch fajitas combo - chicken and beef. Chicken tortilla soup (3.5/5) - it was a bit salty for me but I am not a salt person so most things are salty to me; everyone else said it was tasty, there were tons of shredded chicken, avocado pieces, tortilla strips Fajitas - combo (4/5) - chicken was seasoned well and the beef (medium rare) was perfection and so tender and juicy, mexican rice was fluffy, and normally I would pass on the beans and get extra rice but my coworker suggested the charro beans and wow, that was a win - the seasoning was great, there were chunks of meat and the texture was nice, the only thing that could have been done better is the flour tortillas - they over-charred them making them too crispy and left them with a burnt taste. A couple of people got the elote salad and raved about it. So that will be a next time try. Def will be back. Everyone enjoyed their meals and some even ordered food to go. Would recommend.
