A few friends recommended Cabo Bob's for a while and just have not been. Wasn't sure what the fuss was about until I finally went. There was a queue at 3 pm in the afternoon near the door. That's a good sign and was pretty busy. They serve tacos and burritos among other things. All are freshly made. I ordered the deluxe fish tacos with cilantro Amarillo, ancho chili & buttermilk tortillas, Crispy Fish, Chipotle Crema, Mango Pico, Guacamole, Cheese, Shredded Cabbage and Lime. Pretty much every topping you can think of. The tacos are made right in front of you. Fresh tacos are the best! Once you received and paid for your order, you can get seated. They have additional sauces if you'd like. Restaurant is nicely decorated. Never been to Cabo yet but that's what it's supposed to feel like. Now I know why it's so popular. I didn't just try Cabo Bob's... I accidentally started a short-term relationship with it. My pal brought a burrito home last Tuesday, and somehow I've been back three times in four days. That should tell you everything you need to know. First off, the tortilla game here is next level. You're not stuck with basic flour--you're choosing your vibe: Cilantro Tomatillo (Green) Ancho Chili (Red) Smoky Cheddar (Orange) Buttermilk Flour (White) That alone sets them apart. My kid and I both locked in on the #6 Brisket & Queso Burrito ($10.99). It cones with an Ancho Chili tortilla, loaded with brisket, brown rice, pinto beans, sautéed onions & peppers, queso, lettuce, cilantro, and that 66 Red sauce. Let me say this clearly: This burrito is massive--and they don't skimp. Every bite hit. The brisket was flavorful, the queso tied everything together, and the tortilla had its own personality, instead of just being a wrapper. I told myself I'd save half for later... yeah, that didn't happen. My taste buds vetoed that plan real quick! We also grabbed chips and salsa and a couple fountain drinks. The chips? Fresh-cut and fried--no bag nonsense. Shoutout to the Dr. Baja, which tastes like a cherry Dr Pepper with a little extra attitude. And the red salsa? This gives me such sadness to say, this place isn't what it used to be. I lived on this food in undergrad at Texas, and was one of the first people to try them when they moved into Houston but this last experience was quite the opposite from what it used to be. My boyfriend has only been to this location and even said it was different than before and not as enjoyable. And no, it wasn't busy. Portions have definitely scaled down recently. They put the meat, veggies, sauces in very specific places and when you bite in you get a lot of one thing and nothing else which has never happened to me with Cabo Bobs. When I got a quesadilla, they put it back on the grill before I could finish putting what we'd like in it. Then when one of the employees was putting a sauce in a burrito I said just a little, but he covered it in the spicy sauce. He also didn't really wrap it, just smooshed the tortilla up which makes it gross to eat bite by bite (see pic). Hoping the next time, they'll have turned around the differences! read more

I got through college eating Cabo Bob's in Austin and have been to this location in Houston a handful of times. I recently went for a quick casual weekday lunch while I was in the area and Cabo Bob's definitely fit the bill. I came at close to 2pm on a weekday and I have to say this was the emptiest I've ever seen a Cabo Bob's. I'm used to waiting in a line that goes to the door but that definitely wasn't the case this time, so I was happy to walk right up to the tortilla station. My go-to has always been the crispy fish burrito with an ancho chile tortilla. And stuffed to the max ;). Unlike other burrito chains, I really like that Cabo Bob's has sautéed squash & zucchini as well as sautéed onions & peppers. Not to mention the CRISPY fish, which is truly crispy. These for me help CB'd stand apart from those other burrito chains. On my most recent visit, the lady behind the counter was super sweet and asked how my day was going as she was stuffing my burrito. She also brought out a fresh batch of crispy fish for my burrito, and made sure I was aware. I don't think I've had this level of service on any of my visits. While the burrito tasted great and filled me up as always, I will say I was a bit bummed this past visit because the burrito fillings were distributed unevenly. My first several bites on the end were all rice and beans, and it was t until I reached the middle that I actually found some protein. This was a bit disappointing and I ended up breaking my burrito apart so that I could eat it bowl-style just so that I could eat the insides in equal amounts. I will give them credit though for stuffing my burrito to the max...to the point the ancho chile tortilla was starting to break at the seams. I know that this visit was probably a one-off so I'll be giving Cabo Bob's another try in the not-too-distant future and look forward to having my crispy fish burrito again. This place has easily become part of the rotation! Absolutely incredible food, friendly staff, and good vibes. This place is always bustling-- singles, couples, families, friends all under one roof making it a fun place to hang out. Tortillas are made fresh in front of you. Ingredients are well cooked and flavorful! And they don't skimp on the portions one bit. My burrito was easily 3 lbs, and same for those before and after me. This place has been on my list to try for awhile the next time I was in town and this was the time. Menu online and at the location was a bit confusing because it didn't show per taco pricing. Online ordering shows $9+ for one which is incorrect. Anyways me, my mom and sis all ordered the 3 taco option #1 fish tacos. I watched them make my tortilla fresh, very cool. Nice and thin. Then they proceeded to make my mom's tacos first and then when they came to make mine and my sisters , they were out of fish , so they made the tacos with the cabbage and the pico on the bottom waited for the fish placed that on top and then drizzled the sauce. This turned out to be a mess, protein needs to be on the bottom. My sis was so irritated that she asked for hers to completely be remade. I went ahead and took mine because I was hungry but was not happy. I feel like they could have assembled better and used more pico & sauce could have had more flavor. We also got chips & queso both were delicious - my fav type of chips. Whew baby where do I start..... so first things first visit Cabo Bobs... you walk in and there's usually. Line out the door so actually don't go during the lunch rush but still go. You go in and there are four tortilla flavors and they make the tortilla in front of you. LITERALLY I got the cilantro tomatillo tortilla and loaded up a brisket burrito. And ooouu the brisket is tender and juicy ... the chicken is good too it's not overcooked or dry like some of its competitors... for $10 I walked out with a burrito that weighed the same as a newborn baby... talk about getting your moneys worth. I did not dine in. However, they have indoor and outdoor seating. Customer service is great too. Parking might be an issue cause the large amount of customers do take the limited spots fast. read more

First timer and stoped on a whim on my way back to the office. Walked in to a packed line so I decided to go online to better view my options of the menu. Saw that they had curbside so I ordered there. Burrito steak with the green cilantro tomatillo tortilla, white rice, Baja beans, steak obviously, sautéed onions, sautéed poblano, zucchini and squash, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, cilantro, mango pico, and chipotle creama. Dude!!! OMG. Do you know that taste that you get from a weekend "carne asada" at your tio's house growing up? Well, this has that same effect. I had my own Anton Ego moment with taking it back memory lane to my childhood. The burrito was heavy, full of flavor and very filling. It came whole(Next time. I'll make sure to have them cut it in a half) I also ordered the churro Blondie for dessert. My sweet tooth wouldn't allow me to drive off without taking a bite. Not all that impressed with it. The texture was a bit off for me, not your typical chewy, moist texture that you would expect from a blondie. This was very dense towards the outer edges but it did get better towards the middle. The outer edges had a refrigeration taste to it, but the middle did hit the spot. I'm assuming these are not made in house and are probably outsourced. Regardless, I was happy with my lunch, I would just skip the desert next time lol. BTW, after I placed my order, I got out of line and went into my car to park in their designated area for pick up. It might be overwhelming seeing the full parking and long line inside but trust me the line moves fast. Cabo Bobs, another establishment from Austin that has stepped into the Houston scene, knows what they are doing. If you are getting a burrito or tortilla on the side, you get four very yummy house made options: buttermilk, tomatillo, ancho chili, and queso. I'm a big fan of these BYO burrito style restaurant. Places that have unique experiences or a variety of options are where I gravitate, and I had heard great things about Cabo Bob's, and I wasn't disappointed There was a lot construction in the area, and it took a bit of effort to get to this place. I purposefully chose a time for lunch that I thought wouldn't be peak lunch hours (1-2pm), and when I got there there were at least 20 people in front of me in line The interior is decorated with a chill surfer vibe. There are plenty of surfboards, aquatic themes, micro bus, and other hippie/surfer decor. It is very inviting and feels similar to a Jimmy Buffet experience. The vibes a very pacific oriented. Cabo Bob's was inspired by that Californian/Baja vibe, and they decided to open shop in Austin and eventually expand to Houston The menu offers more entrees, flavors, ingredients, toppings, etc than your chipotle's or Freebirds. The proteins are more extensive, and even the tortillas have more flavors Some tips: There is a side menu while in line that has signature entrees and burritos if you don't want to build your own. The chips and queso are delightful. The chips are deep fried and fresh. Use the signature sauces that are placed on the tables. It's almost a steak sauce in flavor. Also, they will put any of the ingredients in your burrito which means your burrito can get massive! This is my favorite burrito chain in TX and ordered 2 Grilled Chicken Burritos, one on cilantro tortilla and the other on ancho chili tortilla yesterday night. I requested light cilantro rice, light cheese, green peppers, onions, tomatoes, cilantro and some type of spicy cream sauce in a light amount. I ate both of them right there on the spot and both were so comforting, fresh, flavorful and really delicious. The chicken was seasoned well and had that smoky chargrilled vibe to it. The other stuff I mentioned were all very good in the mix. The service was very good as well. Fresh ingredients that makes your tummy happy! This is like the awesome version of chipotle. They even have fish tacos. I always get the chicken or fish burrito. Have flavor or mix of flavor options for your tortilla wrapping. The chipotlecrema is my go to sauce. The chips are just ok I find them mildly greasy but I don't care for the chips at chipotle either. Definitely a neighborhood gem! I am not big on burrito chains and normally do not frequent places like this or chipotle so I was not not sure what to expect when a friend suggested this for lunch. On a Friday at around 12pm this place was packed! The set up is similar to that of chipotle (assembly line) and the line actually moved pretty quickly despite the rush. They offer different types of tortillas which I thought was pretty cool! They also make the tortillas fresh right in front of you which was awesome. I ended up getting the cilantro (green) one for my chicken quesadilla. I honestly could not taste the flavor at all - it just tasted like a regular tortilla to me but it was still good! The ingredients were all very fresh- something that I think set this place apart from other burrito chains in my opinion. The chicken in my quesadilla had so flavor and was BIG for the price. Move over, Chipotle! I am extremely thrilled with my visit today for lunch. I'm not sure if I looked like I didn't know what I was doing, but Elliot immediately came to the actual line and walked me through the process of how to order. He was so helpful and explained everything in great detail. He even helped check me out to complete my transaction. This is the kind of person you want representing your establishment. Customer service A+! I ordered the burrito in a buttermilk flour tortilla. I opted for the white rice, with chicken and steak for my protein. All toppings are included except for the avocado and the warm queso. Both are an additional charge. I did not add those, but I never do even if they are free. I was offered extra sauce on the side. They have several to choose from at different spice ranges. Fountain drinks are available and they also have sweet mint tea. It was very refreshing! The ice is nugget type which always makes me happy. There's just something about nugget ice! The atmosphere is Baja California decor with surf boards, marine life photos, and upbeat music. Seating is plentiful. They also have a few picnic benches outside. My huge burrito was very good, but too much for me to finish. Unfortunately, I had an appointment immediately following my lunch, so I could not take my leftovers. They would not have lasted in my car with the summer heat. Dang! The meat was tender, the flour tortilla was fresh, and the topping to sauce ratio was perfect! Total meal cost was $16.20 before tip. Still wish I could have taken my uneaten portion with me and doubled down on meals. Next time! They have vegan and vegetarian options too, so don't overlook this place. They cater to all. What an amazing experience with lunch that was catered! Cabo Bob's went way beyond customer service - Everything was fantastic - neatly contained, hot and there was plenty of food, but OMG.... the nachos! I don't know what they do, but their chips do not get soggy!! It's nice when you can enjoy your meal and not worry about your chips getting soggy. The complimentary tea and desserts were not expected, and the thank you card topped it off - never have we had a restaurant send a thank you card thanking us for our service. This was top notch Wow! In the corner of shopping center, so during lunch hours it can be hard to find parking. Got here around 130pm on Friday, pretty busy for lunch hour but line moves quickly the restaurant was packed as well, some patrons had to find seating outside, which is nice on days when weather is pretty, plus you can sit with your pet. I like the variety of choices in protein, tortillas, sides and sauces. I got the #4 special fish burrito, portion is pretty big, but can be devoured if you're really hungry. My burrito was delicious without any sauce but even more yum with the ancho rancho! Best part, my giant burrito was under $10. Worst part, Cabo is a bit of a drive from me. Honestly, cabo bob needs to replace all the Chipotles, I think they have way better options and food was more delicious. read more

These folks are doing really well. I arrived at about 2:30 p.m. and there was a long line to order. I had a cheese flavored tortilla with beans and a combination of white and brown rice. Their three types of beans are vegetarian. I had the mixture of black and brown beans. It's delicious. The women at the serving line were very patient in explaining the included options. I saw the manager talking to folks who had just entered asking them if they're familiar with the ordering process. When I approached the register, I had a frequent purchase card ready to be redeemed. This place has amazing vegetarian options. I love getting a bowl with their cilantro lime rice, Baja beans, mixed veggies, guacamole, queso, cheese, and salsas. Their tortillas are homemade and they look absolutely delicious. However, I cannot comment on the tortillas because they are not gluten-free. I wish they had a gluten-free tortilla option. We were surprised to see a fast casual seafood spot ranked so high with all the high priced spots in the Galleria Area. The food did not disappoint. Our Deluxe Fish Tacos were well worth the price and tasted like a few spots we've hit in SoCal area. As someone excited to support a local Texas chain, I was really looking forward to it. The restaurant setup is great. The ordering process is smooth and efficient, and their app is super easy to use for pickup or delivery.Everything exceeded my expectations right up until I took a bite. Unfortunately, the rice was undercooked and the chicken was extremely bland. I was hoping the variety of sauces and salsas would save it and add some real flavor, but they mostly just masked the lack of seasoning without enhancing the dish much.In the end, I'll probably stick with Chipotle.
