My order of Chicken Enchiladas Del Julio on late Friday night was very delicious, saucy, very moist and so tender. Unlike richer Tex Mex enchiladas, these were milder but very tasty with smoother prep to them. I like how they didn't have much cheese, but had plenty of very addictive red sauce, which had a savory, very slightly sweet taste and plenty of chicken filling as well. I like their roasted potatoes that come with it a lot, but decided to get rice with it this time, which was small in amount, but moist n tasty regardless. Good service as usual. read more

I placed an order to go, and when I arrived, my food was ready. I ordered the beef steak taco that comes with five small tacos with corn tortilla. I asked for extra cilantro and onions, which they accommodated. I also ordered one chicken taco, and a side of rice. The chicken taco had great flavor and was delicious ! I would definitely return in order the chicken tacos. The side rice was OK, but it was salty. Unfortunately the steak tacos lacked in flavor in the meat was dry. If I do return, I would probably just order a plate of the chicken tacos and a individual steak taco. Hopefully if I do return , the steak taco will be more juicier and have good flavor . read more

Birria is WATERED DOWN. customer service is lacking. you used to be able to get a cup or birria consome on the side of any dish with an upcharge, now they only serve the watered down version with birria dishes only. tastes 1/10 as good as it used to be. Small place with about 6-7 tables plus a bar area. Since it was mid day Sunday it was not very packed or noisy. We got quick service. The food was described well by the waiter and I Updated menu but the food was very mid. Not much flavors. Salsas not very spicy and the cheese dip was the biggest let down. Straight out the can. I would eat here in a pinch or as a quick stop but I wouldn't go out my way to come back or bring family and friends to check it out. This place is located right on the corner of a big plaza. Decided to try this place for my lunch break I ordered 5 small tacos to go. Steak tacos . Customer service was average . It's kinda more expensive than expected . I got the tacos and one soda and it was 18$ including tax. Normally the small tacos are 1$ or 2$ . All the furniture looks really old and tore up. But I didn't come here for the interior design let's talk about the food. They made the tacos quick ! The food was not bad at all pretty good. I've had TDL from a different location in Spring Branch. This is a newer location for the restaurant. It's quaint, has a decent bar and patio. The staff were attentive. The one thing that stands out the most is their quest. I could just sit there and eat nothing but chips and queso. It was creamy and spicy. The kick lingers at the end after the queso coats your tongue with every bite. Then you feel the slight heat as you reach for the second...third...fourth...100th chip. Get the queso, it's 5/5. We got the beef trompo, Barbacoa, flautas and tripa. Trompo regulares 3.5/5- the slices were really thin but decent enough flavor. Went really well with the green bottled sauce. Barbacoa tacos 3.5/5- the meat was juicy and flavorful, went well by itself or with the brown smoky salsa it came with. Spicy! But definitely flavorful. I'm a ninny FYI. Flautas 3/5 I've had better. The queso and guacamole/avocado sauce it came with really made it taste bland. Add the orange salsa in the bottle and same salt and it is better. Wouldn't come back for this or the tostada Siberia which is basically the same. Tripas 2/5 this should've been cooked crispier...most of my pieces were very chewy and tough but the crispy pieces were decent. Overall I'd come back because I like TDL. So, now that I've given these guys more than a couple visits in different locations, i can definitely say that they're doing a great thing over there. It's been a good while that I've been to an actual brick-n-mortar "street taco" establishment and they haven't actually disappointed me. Although I wish they had a fresh margarita over a frozen one, the regular lime margarita will get you buzzing, and has all the right flavors. The tacos are delicious, and super reasonably priced. You can get a plate of 5 tacos for $12. The quesadilla is exactly what you want when you think of a quesadilla. The proportions are exactly right, not too overwhelming... you leave satisfied, but not waddling out. A drink, quesadilla, and 5 tacos costs around $25 (gratuity not included). I found a Taco restaurant in the same shopping strip The location was supposed to be an Asian restaurant. The Asian guys went somewhere, I had to meet non-Asians. Paco's new restaurant has been open for just about 3 months. Brand new and still a little work to do on the restaurant but the food was amazing. My partner and I just walked across from discount tire to wait for his tire to be repaired, we were (well at least I was) hungry and you could smell their food from across the street. I had tacos trompos especial and my partner had a bistek torta it was humongous and he ate it all! They serve you with some frijoles to start they're really good has sausage in it. We also had Fortaleza tequila and ummm "I didn't like it..." wink... "I loved it!" Definitely set the tone for the remaining of the day.. my partner and I had a great time there. However I came by after work to the newest location off westheimer to watch the Astros game 5.I would never recommend Anyone to come drink here. These people do not know how to distinguish time when drinks are on happy hour & charged me for imported beers when I was clearly drinking domestic. In the end I was obligated to pay this outrageous price of beer because apparently the owner has the prices set already. The waitress was great with service but what transpired was a huge flaw in their system. I don't see this restaurant being successful in the long run unfortunately. Food wise it's fine. They give you some complimentary beans that's like a soup. It has some sausage in it too. Very Smokey flavor. I liked it. I also liked the Barbacoa taco. I counted and it only took me 3 medium bites to finish one. So that's about $1 a bite. Onions and cilantro served in a plastic bag which wasn't very environmentally friendly. I ordered queso and chips/salsa. They brought the latter but not the queso, telling me they ran out of cheese. Wtf. That's like a Chinese restaurant saying they ran out of soy sauce. So how am I supposed to eat all those chips? The salsa only lasted through a 1/3 of the basket of chips. I wasn't particularly fond of it as it was warm and runny. But eating plain chips without anything was so dry. I felt like that cowboy on the Teems soda commercial from the 80's who goes into a dust bowl bar and orders a bag of chips to make his mouth super dry so he can quench it later. The chips were thick and warm and crunchy. Good. But so dry without anything to dip it in. Staff was friendly. They have an outdoor patio but all the chairs were stacked up making it unusable. Note prices of the items I ordered were all more than what's listed on the menu. 4 to 13% more even. I asked about that and the waiter said he's told management but they never updated the menu. Very honest review, I wanted to try this place to be adventurous and I was kinda disappointed. I got chips and queso, it was so weird tasting and truthfully, one of the worst I've ever had Torchys chips and queso is 1000% better. I also got 3 fajita tacos on corn, they were okay and kind of small for the price, nothing special however the green and red sauces they gave me had the perfect spice level, really good. Lastly I got a horchata, it was pretty good, but grainy like something wasn't strained or mixed all the way. Everything was $21 which was a little over priced to me because at my normal taco spot I get this same order for $15. Either way, I wouldn't return here or recommend the queso at all. read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside but it's totally worth a visit. It's vibe is "taqueria meets cafe" - small, decent decor/art, cute bar, but with an authentic Tex-mex feel. The waiters are all bilingual, so don't stress if you're worried about feeling too gringo. I got some Tacos de Trompo with avocado - yummmm. My friend got some other tacos which he said were delish. I'm not saying the food or aesthetic are next level - but that's not what this place is trying to be. Tacos especiales are my go to every time. The chicken fajita to be exact. Margaritas are good too. They are strong and will not disappoint.
