To find them, just look for the blue truck in the Route 66 gas station parking lot along Westheimer. It's easy to miss for first timers, especially since they're not the only taqueria on wheels in the vicinity. Usually there are folks huddled around the truck during lunch time but the crowd tends to dwindle after 11pm. The waits are minimal and the staff is bilingual and friendly. While the $1.50 tacos sound like a deal, they're actually the smaller, two bite taquito (#2) versions instead. I don't mind them, even though they can be had for a $1 just further down the road. Of course they serve more than just tacos, there are sincronizadas, gorditas, burritos, quesadillas, and even hamburgers. Their claim to fame are their tortas, but it should be noted that they also sell machetes as well. The fajita meat is tasty. They've got one of the better variations that I've had along this stretch in west Houston and I would say the same for their campechano. Chicharron is also solid, as is their tripe. Their chicken and barbacoa is decent, but a slight departure from the rest of their meat lineup. I am fairly certain it's cash only. There is no outdoor seating and most everyone is doing takeout. They've garnished quite the reputation due to being open late, tastiness of their food, and the bright colors of their truck and menu signs. My order is always a mix of tacos (fajita, campechano, barbacoa, pastor, tripa) and a quesadilla or gordita thrown in. Always comes with pickled onions and green salsas while topped heavily with cilantro/onions. I usually would take it home and eat it there but I found eating it immediately gives the best flavors and tastes while it's piping hot. Another item they have that's on my radar is the machete; think of a quesadilla but thinner and longer; I saw it's got a great cheese pull so I'll definitely get that next time. The people serving take your order quick and deliver the eats quicker; I've only had a 4-6 minute wait for my orders (thank god).
