Maybe I'm used to lack luster and small tacos but Tacodeli blew me away! We came by for some breakfast tacos on a Friday morning which was perfect because there was minimal wait. I got 3 tacos thinking they would be small but boy was I wrong 2 would have been plenty!! I got a bacon egg and cheese, one with avocado and bacon and one with beans and eggs. I'm used to go to the original Tacodeli in Austin which was just off the Greenbelt and kind of a secret place to start trail runs from. It was awesome. Unfortunately this location did not resemble my old favorite. Let me start by sand that I was there at a time of day that was not 'prime time' and that may have accounted for some of the issues. Let's Start with the good -- the frozen margaritas, straight out of the machine was great. And the woman the took our order and brought out the food was also nice. The queso came out with chips and it was not very hot. It probably would have been fine for most people but I like my queso really hot. I took it back to the counter and being super nice, Explained that there was nothing wrong with the queso but I like it really hot and asked if they had a microwave and could stick it in the microwave for a minute a guy who I think was The manager suggested giving me some from the new batch of queso that just came out. That ended up being less warm than what I first tried so k returned to the counter with the bowl of queso. The manager says put it in the microwave -- what I sled them to do in the first place. Someone neons the queso out a minute later and tells us to be careful thsg it is very hot. Literally the same temp as the first two. Then the food comes out and all the tacos are cold and really not appetizing. I will never go back. Very disappointing. read more

I went in early this morning, the only customer there. I ordered 2 breakfast tacos to go, simple ones, egg, bacon & cheese. I work less than 10 minutes from the restaurant. I got to work to discover that both tacos were cold, not warm or even mildly warm. The cheese was whole, untouched by any type of heat. This tells me the eggs were left over from yesterday & they did not bother to heat them. They made ZERO attempt to give me a decent product. I won't be going back; this kind of service is disgusting. We have to many options to settle for being treated this badly. It showed a total disregard for the customer. I tipped them 25% & they deserved nothing. This type of bad service is intentional, they knew they did not heat the leftover eggs. read more

The service was fast and kind. The ambiance both inside and on the patio were awesome. We really enjoyed hanging out here for a quick bite. I would definitely get the Al pastor and puerco verde again! The breakfast one was good but nothing to write home about in my opinion. But I'm excited to come back and try some more! read more

Work sent me to Houston for the week and I was excited to see what Yelp could help me find near our H-Town site. Having been a former Austinite I was hella stoked to see there was a Tacodeli nearby and I am happy to report this location keeps the quality and service I am familiar with from my visits to their other locations. So let us kick things off with the service: it was stellar! Walking in I was greeted and as I perused the menu the counter worker asked if I had been in before, I told her never to this location and she said "you didn't look familiar" showing me that this staff gets to know their customers. Every interaction I was apart of or witnessed was top tier customer service and it made my visit all the more enjoyable. I went with the Vaquero, Jess Special, and Papas Egg y Cheese, my usual breakfast taco go-to(s) here and they were all excellent. All three were made fresh and quite filling. Paired with their Salsa Dona, this breakfast couldn't have made me happier. Parking is super easy as there's a sizable lot just to the left of the building for businesses in the area. A quick half block stroll down the sidewalk and it was taco time! This location also has a patio for outdoor dining, but it was a chilly October morning when I visited so I opted to sit inside. Although it is not often I find myself in Houston I can confidently say that next time I am that way, I will absolutely be visiting Tacodeli once again as this location knocks it out of the park every step of the way. read more

Tacodeli isn't my usual go-to spot for breakfast tacos. I only partake if and when I'm at a coffee shop that sells them; I might grab one on a whim. But, my gf and I were nearby and wanted some chips and queso, so we popped over for some snackies on the patio. First, the breakfast tacos, I think, are the best way to go. The chips and queso? The vaquero has scrambled eggs, roasted bell peppers, jack cheese and grilled corn. It tastes more of bell peppers than grilled corn. The sirloin, egg, and cheese had plump cubes of meat. I thought it was strange how the meat was piled only on one side. The (2) Saturday -7am batches of queso were really runny and, per staff, weren't expected to congeal for a few hours. The flavor was really not there, so we were offered the option of getting a refund or a guacamole as a substitute. We chose the guacamole, which was more tart than expected and probably needed some salt to balance the flavors. The salsas seemed to be at the end of the container as it took some quick pumping to get bursts of salsa onto the tacos. read more

I was not to sure what to expect when walking into Tacodeli. I mean it's a taco, and its H-Town! So its gotta be ok, right? Well, yup, it was ok, nothing more, maybe less. And upon arrival, after examining the food, the thing I frowned on was what I liked best. The Good - Though an interesting twist on Mexican Street Corn (bacon, onions, & no crema),... it turned out to be pretty tasty. I think a alternative traditional offering would be a great gesture. I mean for those who come looking for Mexican corn, can get it, and those that want the creative alternative can have it. The place was clean and cold, so bring a sweater for those anemic types. Me, I love the cold!!! The salsas are pretty good, so definitely recommend a splash. The creamy jalapeno is my favorite. The habenero could use some additional flavor, like mango or pineapple. Also, they do have a soda fountain, so if you are a drinker, you'll be happy there. The Bad - well, I had 3 different tacos to try. And in tasting, I ate portions of the meat only to check flavor. (A) mole (b) pork canitas (c) MxCity Steak. (A) has a semblance of mole flavor. Just enough to give someone a light hint of what mole taste like. In the end though the better of the 3 Amigos, still lacking authentic flavor on the heavy side. (B) and (C) ,...yeah...umm,...how do you say Bland without saying bland and no flavor. Like going to Cancun for some cervezas and tacos, and you get there and at the beach there is only a blonde caucasian cabana boy in an white Izod and khaki shorts serving ham & cheese sandwiches and Tea. Seriously though, the meat did not have any flavor, lacking even salt & pepper. Also, no lime slices for street tacos anywhere. You have to steal them out of the drink station. There you will find sliced limes for drinks, but they'll do. Another observation, who plays english pop music at locale promoting to be a taco place? You get better mexican music vibes playing in the background as you shop HEB. No Shakira, no Pitbull, No Selena or even La Bamba. C'mon!!! The Ugly - The Price!!! Oh my Little Red Corvette!!! $25 for 3 tacos, 1 cup of street corn, and a soft drink. That is like $5 an item!!! Seriously!!! Pretty solid place with really and I mean really good unsweetened iced tea and the first time I've ever seen Mexican diet cola. I know Mexican Coke uses real sugar which makes it taste different but what do they use in Mexican Diet Coke? Anyway, I went with the Ensalada Tacodeli with grilled chicken? I asked the person to give me the one that was more like an actual salad but it still turned out to be a little lettuce swimming in a sea of sour cream, Guac, and cheese. The tacos here look and taste like they were pulled out of a dumpster. Yes they tacos here's aren't good at all one bite and it just makes ya feel like ya ate a taco that's just all gross Cold and has a weird smell to it . I don't know who named this place but whatever, all that matters it what it taste like, and Tacodeli is great! First, I love there is ample parking because that is a rare thing in these here parts. It's counter service, and the worker was really helpful answering my husband's questions. As for me, I don't have questions. I like to come prepared with what I want to order and get it done. We ordered the chips and queso to start. The chips were fresh (yes they are in a bag but they are really good) and the queso was some of the best I have had but I still like Torchy's queso a tad bit better. Sorry, not sorry. I got the Pollo Fantastico, which has a green chile sauce and crema on it, and of course on a flour tortilla. It was so delicious and the tortilla was thin, but not so thin that everything came busting out. I will order this one again! I also got the Shrimposito on flour. It has a chipotle sesame adobo and queso fresco, but something about the way it all tasted was not to my liking. I mean, it wasn't awful, it just wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be. I've been wanting to try this place for so long, especially knowing they offer vegetarian tacos. Unfortunately, the actual food didn't match up to the expectations. The only dish I felt it was good was the chicken tortilla soup, there is actually a generous amount of chicken and avocado in the soup. The tacodeli bowl was a big disappointment. They charge you extra $4 for protein, and the amount of meat you get was sad. Nothing special. I was initially in the area to grab a quick bite elsewhere before attending an Independence Day firework show however the place I wanted to eat was out of food. I saw Tacodeli as it was in walking distance and made my way over. Unfortunately, parking is atrocious and there's no cross walk so getting there nearly injured me. Be careful crossing the street, if needed, because I almost witnessed SEVERAL accidents. Anywho, Tacodeli is nice on the inside and has covered patio seating. The staff was nice and the menu has a variety of menu options that fit multiple dietary needs (pescatarian, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.). I ended up getting two beef tacos, one seafood, and a water. I like both beef tacos but the cowboy was my favorite. It was surprisingly spicy though. I also got the shrimposito which I didn't like. I think it was the adobo that was off-putting for me. All in all, Tacodeli was fulfilling but I honestly would be okay if I never had it again. The pros were that the ingredients are fresh, locally sourced, and sometimes organic but I'm not sure that the taste blew me away. Would definitely recommend but if for whatever reason you're not that concerned about the quality of the ingredients, there are plenty of other taco shops or trucks in Houston that can deliver more flavor. read more

So get this instead of just being closed their policy is that whenever it doesn't work, they just give the food away for free what. I've only been to the TacoDeli in Austin's Airport but this one has wayyyy more options & I loved it!! Really cool vibrant place. I like that they have outdoor and indoor seating. Vegan to regular options available to all the foodies out there. The staff even helped figure out what options can be made vegan. Really fresh food and unique flavors. I didn't try their drinks but they looked really good so now I need to come back next week haha. They have a whole parking lot n in the back too so lots of space for you and all your friends to join the taco fun! read more

Very low grade food for the price. $4 breakfast tacos and that's only the very basic kind. I got bacon egg and cheese and the potato eggs and cheese. The eggs taste like cheap liquid eggs. The bacon is extremely salty. The potatoes are not even potatoes. It's some weird liquid potato with the texture and consistency of salsa. Along with this it was also very salty. Overall a bad experience and waste of money. $30 for 6 basic breakfast tacos that were very salty and bland. The only good thing about this place is the complementary salsa bar. There's plenty of seating inside and I counted 8 tables outside under their covered porch kind of area (I sat outside on a beautiful sunny day, it was as the best!!) they have an entire salsa bar where you can serve self mild to hot salsa. Breakfast tacos were pretty good; the service was quick, fast, and accessible. The staff was inviting and friendly, and the restaurant decor was like a simple taco shop, nothing too crazy. Very yummy tacos! We had a big group of people and we were able to be seated together and the food came out pretty quick. I ordered the pollo fantastico and barbacoa madruguera breakfast taco. For the barbacoa, the meat was very tender and flavorful and the salsa paired really well with the rest of the taco. For the pollo, I enjoyed the creama Mexicana white sauce they used. This is my go-to spot for breakfast tacos in Houston. I may or may not have chosen my new place to live based on its proximity to Taco Deli. Brad and I each got two breakfast tacos, I always go for a variety that has avocado and eggs with some kind of other protein or beans. I've tried the vaquero, the jess special, the Otto, barbacoa madruguera... basically most of them. All the sauces are probably good but I can only do mild varieties. There is a huge following for the doña sauce (it's the creamy green one) so if you can handle the heat I'd recommend trying it. ALSO they have cold brew coffee! read more

First impressions mean so much... My friend went and picked up breakfast for us. She ordered a vegan taco and a side of breakfast potatoes. I asked her to pick me up the Otto and the Jess special. We meet up to eat and she hands my my taco and opens hers... except it's the same as mine... We open the third taco and it's my other taco. Uhhhh No vegan taco in sight. We figure it out and I end up removing the bacon from the Otto and giving her that. She figures it's fine I'll have the potatoes... unwrap the foil and it's queso??? My food was great and obviously I didn't have to experience this but that's a big YIKES Thankfully she's not an actual vegan, just eats like a vegan without the title if that makes sense but this was not cool She also said the whole ordering situation at the restaurant was pretty terrible soooo to add to it, she gets no breakfast. Love this place. Highly recommend the cowboy and the puerco verde--also the pollo en mole, if you like a sweet taco. I'm super impressed with the quality of their ingredients, especially the steak in the cowboy taco. It is perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked beef tenderloin in a taco with guacamole for $5.
