Raised prices again where Jess special is over 5 buck now . And quality had gone downhill at the Houston location . Tacos just fall apart . Such a shame since I love the Austin locations . Don't like posting negative reviews but maybe this will get mgmt attention read more

Add avocado, cilantro and beans to a bacon and egg taco. Thank me later. The green salsa is yum

Always great food. Breakfast, lunch or dinner. AJ is so attentive, delivers on time, fresh and hot. the faculty at the UH campus just loves the veggie option. Thank you so much. read more

The tacos here are so good! And they have seasonal adult drinks yummm!!! I had the spiked horchata and it was delicious! Unfortunately the tacos were so good I didn't get a picture. I had the Akaushi picodilla and they were sooo good. The house salsa has just the right amount of kick! read more

Customer service was great at the location. Got the breakfast tacos, they were okay nothing special.

Fresh and flavorful tacos, coming right up! If you are a taco aficionado like me, you welcome the chance to try a new taco place. We happened to be in the area and were looking for a light lunch. This place was recommended so we gave it a try. The chips (not complimentary) were interestingly served in a plastic bag along with the queso. Nevertheless they were advertised to be organic and they were really good chips. The queso was also quite tasty. The food was served very quickly and it was indeed very fresh. I decided to go vegetarian for my lunch and ordered one The Heather taco and one Papadulce taco, both on corn tortillas. You are given the option of flour, corn or wheat tortillas. The tacos were overflowing with filling and two tacos (after some chips and queso) were more than enough for my average appetite. They also offered a salsa bar with a salsa verde (mild), salsa roja (medium), salsa doña (hot) and salsa habañero (very hot). The salsa verde and roja were both tangy and enjoyable. The salsa doña had good flavor but was a little too spicy for me. As you can probably guess, I did not try the habañero salsa. There is also a sign that says you can find their salsas at Whole Foods. Additionally, I thought the organic soda options were unique and a nice surprise as opposed to the usual Coke or Pepsi products. Finally, the prices are really fair I think for the tacos. I enjoyed the flavor profiles and would definitely return if I find myself back in this area of Houston. read more

Tacodeli all around is pretty solid taco place. I haven't had a taco there that wasn't good and I love that they have so many vegetarian and vegan tacos to choose from too in addition to the normal meat tacos. The real winner here though is their salsas. The verde is pretty great, but the roja is incredible. It's the perfect combination of fresh, smoky and savory. I could honestly drink this salsa on its own. It just adds so much flavor to the taco, not that their tacos really need much help, but still. Wow! Also they have online ordering on their website which makes it super convenient! read more

I really wanted to give this place better ratings because I liked the tacos so much (DIY breakfast taco with chorizo, avo, cheese, eggs, and the deli belly pork belly taco Saturday special, and chips and queso). Unfortunately I had a bad case of food poisoning after eating here :'( The chips from the chips and queso came in plastic wrapping which I thought was interesting. They also provide a wide selection of salsas to put on your tacos which is nice read more

All my friends who love this place went to UT or like the vegetarian options. I personally think the meat is tough/overcooked. There are many other taco options in Houston, so I would probably only recommend this place for their vegetarian options. The queso is on the runnier side, but I don't mind that. read more

I've missed eating my brunch tacos, but they have curbside, so it makes it so convenient. I ordered online and pickup was 815am on Saturday - there are 8 slots to park. I love the Otto - on wheat - which has very crispy bacon, avocado, and black bean spread. I also like the small chips and queso. I can't wait to try their lunch tacos. highly recommended! read more

Please improve the online ordering process. The tacos here are really good; space cowboy one of my favorites all time. Ordering online from this place is so much more complicated than it needs to be. The reaching tech out with my whole order. I'm then redirected to a sign in page and have to go follow a link from my email. Then I have to start the process all over again just to check out and place an order online. read more

This is a convenient place for tacos. I would say every item we have had is average. The service is good and a nice location, however don't expect the best taco. read more

Love this place. Highly recommend the cowboy and the puerco verde--also the pollo en mole, if you like a sweet taco. I'm super impressed with the quality of their ingredients, especially the steak in the cowboy taco. It is perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked beef tenderloin in a taco with guacamole for $5. Service is super nice. Place is very clean and cute. read more

Legit tacos and the environment is dope. Managers are super cool. The service is outstanding

There's nothing here we don't love. And there's definitely something for everybody. Carnivores will be happy, vegans will be happy, vegetarians will be happy, GF people will be happy- I know this because our group had all four types who loved and raved about it. The street corn side was a crowd favorite as was the pork verde taco. The sweet potato and corn taco was a favorite as well. The margaritas are nice and limey and sour- not too sweet- which I love personally. Service was efficient and friendly, dining room was clean and welcoming- but we took ours to go. Excellent quality food, great prices, highly recommend. read more

First time trying Tacodeli. Sounded good. Tasted good, unfortunately within 30 minutes to an hour I began to become increasingly sick lasting for the next few days. Thank goodness I only ate half of my 2 tacos. Would hate to think of how sick I would have been if I had eaten all of it. It was the only thing I had eaten. Couldn't have been caused by anything else. read more

My lunch go to. I love the Heather tacos!! Ensalata Tacodeli is also delish. Fast and fresh!

This review is long overdue. I've be frequenting Tacodeli for about a year now and just took my mom and brother here over the weekend. They both enjoyed their food. My brother was a bit confused by the menu and when he asked to switch his taco out, they let him do so with no trouble. Talk about great customer service!! My only warning with this place is that their cold brew isn't very good. Three different people have tried it with me and none have liked it. Their hot coffee got my moms seal of approval though! read more

To be honest. I am not sure what everyone is on about here. Torchy's annihilates this place...and that is not say much because any little hole in the wall Taco truck annihilates Torchy's. Much like Hopdoddy and more often than not, like anywhere from Austin, it will get rave reviews from the hipster crowd who are not willing to admit...it just isn't that good. I like spice, but their least spicy sauce was enough to make the entire table boycott it. I want to taste my food...not be intentionally hurt by it. The Frontera Chicken taco was in a word...bland. I don't know how you have that many ingredients in a taco and it still need the aforementioned painful salsa to add any flavor...but hurt myself I did. Just to feel something. The Akaushi Picadillo was an interesting read but ended up tasting like pot roast on a tortilla. While this may sound and actually did taste good...it is not what I expect from a taco place. That would be like my wife making her awesome pot roast on a midsummer day and handing you a tortilla and telling you to get to work...My response would be "What?!?" Anything that came on a corn tortilla was inedible by hand. Somehow the cooks programmed their corn tortillas to commit suicide and explode about 1 second before you can actually bite into the taco. Nothing but a bloody mess of carnage that must now be eaten by fork and knife. Though the flavor is the same...something about eating a taco...off a fork...seems like trying to eat soup with your fingers. It is just...wrong. This place then. It is like claiming something is superior because it is slightly less worse...it just makes no sense. Go to any taco truck. Not only will it be better, it will be 1/4 the price. read more

Tacodeli - Tacos Near Me - Houston, Texas

Tacodeli simply rocks!!! Tacodeli is an underrated fusion taco joint in Houston. It originally came from Austin so I guess people think only hipsters eat here or whatever, but don't hate this place till you try it! Tacodeli has a great menu with lots of variety. It's conveniently divided between chicken, pork, beef, seafood, and vegetarian tacos so there is something for everyone. They also have a daily specials menu which features a different taco each day of the week. My friend and I decided to try their Frontera fundido sirloin, taco Pierre, delibelly, chile relleno, tacoloco, shrimposito, and pollo en mole. Everything was fresh, well seasoned, and delicious. One thing that really brings this place over the top is their SAUCES! They have a salsa verde mild, salsa roja medium, salsa dona hot, and a salsa habanero hottest. These salsas are the real deal! They really make their tacos pop with flavor. My favorites were the salsa dona because it's hot but super creamy, and the salsa habanero because it really packs a punch but has this nice sweet after taste. Don't be afraid to bring the heat to your tacos! Overall this place rocks and I can't wait to come here again! The service is quick, the restaurant is clean, and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Wash down your meal with a nice kickin kombucha and you're set to have a great day. read more

Nice service but honestly not that great of tacos or queso... we had high hopes since honestly this place has pretty good reviews on google and Yelp but disappointed in flavors of the tacos themselves. They lacked in flavor and were sub par. We all tried various types of tacos (beef, pork belly, chicken, veggie) and all just were not that good. :( read more

Update to an old 2017 review that was unfair, as they had just opened then. Execution seems much better now. although they seem understaffed as of April 2022 (sadly common now). Pros: large menu, really good queso, good salsa, decent tacos. Cons: still not really great tortillas (flour is ok, corn is horrible but at least you can choose), average food and pricier vs. other similar brick-n-mortar taco shops. Among similar brick-n-mortar taco shops, I'd still rather go to one of: Torchy's, Velvet, Liberty read more

Glad to see they still have deli belly tacos on the menu!! They used to only cook these on Saturday. When I lived in Austin I would eat them as often as I could. Still taste great ten years later! The breakfast tacos are awesome also!! read more

I had never heard of Tacodeli and had them for the first time a couple of days ago in Houston. WOW!!! Wow is really all I can say. My tastebuds haven't been THAT happy in awhile. Their tacos are amazing and some of the best I've ever had. Their taco selection is creative and has a lot of variety. The flavors and the ingredients were fresh and delectable and the combination profiles incredible. Since I was ordering tacos for lunch, I figured I would get a couple to have for breakfast the next day also (they were just as good the next day!) so I ordered a couple of the breakfast tacos along with a Cowboy, a Pollo En Mole (Was literally the best Mole sauce I've had in ages) and a Delibelly ...I was fully prepared to just have a underwhelming lunch and boy was I wrong! Hands down, Tacodeli is some of the best tacos around. Keep up the great work y'all and keep those interesting and wonderful flavors coming!! I would have given y'all a 10 star rating... read more

Walked in hoping to get some tacos because I was starving. I stood unaddressed for a bit although workers were near. I ordered two tacos. Something told me to check my food, but instead of bacon, they'd given me beans. The potatoes were soufleed and do not belong on tacos. I went back in after seeing this in the car. I asked again this time for a bacon, egg, and cheese taco. Hold the beans the I didn't ask for. I got another wrong taco. They forgot the cheese. I Love Tacodeli. Breakfast tacos are good but lunch tacos are where it's at. The cowboy is my favorite. Shrimp ones are good too. Queso is the best in town and I enjoy the green salsa the most. Chile en nogada in taco form in Houston? Yes, please! Took me back to Puebla! We had three other beef ones that were also delicious. Their ground beef is akaushi. Slightly overkill but definitely not complaining - yum! The horchata is also homemade and delicious as are the sauces - oh my life, the sauces - so good! Great tacos. Great staff. There was a homeless man who came in, bought tacos, and ate. Before the man left a staff member approached him and said that the kitchen had accidentally made some extra tacos; he handed him a bag of tacos to go. Whether the extra tacos were really made on accident or on "accident," it was a big win for humanity. Thank you Taco Deli for being freaking amazing. I will continue to eat at this establishment. Like I said, great tacos, AMAZING humans. Support this place and their great staff. read more

Ok I was born and raised in Texas so I have had my share of tacos. I've eaten at dingy gas stations in the middle of Highway Nowhere88, binged at local taquerias where they didnt understand English and stuffed your box to the brim with TexMex goodness, I've even had my share of taco food trucks and commercial joints as well. When someone challenges my Taco senses... I must step up. So when I heard TacoDeli was the spot, I took out my Yelp and bookmarked it to try on my next day off when running errands. Here's how I feel: The tacos, 2/5. They were ok. Really. Did it blow my mind, make my eyes roll back, have my head swiveling on repeat? No. I finished my meal and felt satisfied in my belly, that's it. The tacos were nothing to write home about. I'm sitting in the restaurant writing this review because I have the strong feeling that once I leave I won't come back and the meal was so forgettable I wouldn't be able to review my experience later. I mean, at this point if we were in the neighborhood and someone offered me to eat here on their dime I would scan for something else. Sorry. Just wayyyy more taco spots with wayyyy more reasonable prices and wayyyy less hype. The service 5/5!!! The lady, tall, AA with short blonde hair actually stepped away from a busy cash register to show me the salsas and explain how their service works. I was floored. It was very nice of her. The clientele all went ABOVE and BEYOND! That's great. Management knows what they're doing I can tell you that. Overall, decent lunch spot. But for TacoHeads, it may not cut it. However looking around the restaurant their crowd appeared to be the white-collared lunch folks who came in groups with their hairs slicked back, donning expensive watches and shiny, pointed leather shoes. Not the type to hang around a taqueria or rusty taco truck. So to each its own, they have their audience. I however do not feel a part of it. Thanks for the experience! read more

Houston has a ton of taco spots opening up. This is a worthy contender in the growing Houston taco scene! First off, parking was super easy with spacious parking lots. The line upon entering on a Sunday 1:30 pm was a bit intimidating. It was perhaps a 15 minute wait for 30 people or so. They also had another window/line on the side for online/pick-up orders that was well aways from the normal line (nice job on the organization!) I'm a huge shrimp fan, so I ordered a Shrimp Taco and Shrimposito. My group also shared the Chips & Queso. The queso was so yummy! We ran out of chips pretty quickly, and I asked the server for more chips and we got mo' chips! It's a bit strange how the chips were packaged in a clear plastic bag, but I suppose it's more sanitary and quick. It would be a plus if the chips were served hot, too. The shrimp tacos were really good. I felt the ingredients were all really fresh. The avocados didn't any hints of brown oxidation on them. The onions were crispy and delicious. I felt like portion wise, it was quite generous on the shrimp. We ate outside and it was fabulous except for our wrappers flying away from us. The experience was overall very yummy and chill. Highly recommended! read more

We were pretty disappointed with our meal here. None of the tacos we got stood out to me. As a matter of fact I didn't even finish my shrimp taco because it did not taste good. My husband felt the meat was dry and had been sitting out for a while. We also got the queso which I thought was too watery. We prefer torchy's taco and velvet taco over this place. read more

Tried a few tacos one weekend morning because I had heard amazing things about tacodeli. Mostly from my Austin- based friends. Tacodeli is the latest chain to make its way from ATX to Houston. Had the opportunity to eat here recently and absolutely, thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I had the cowboy (so freaking delicious), a mojo fish taco, and a barbacoa taco. The cowboy was my favorite. The rice and refried beans are tasty, but slightly on the salty side. Loved the chips and queso- this is a queso that keeps on giving, folks. One order goes further than you think. Only two complaints about this joint- 1. Is your AC broken? Because sweat rolling down my face and back isn't really how I prefer to enjoy my tacos. I'm going to stay away until this issue is resolved because it was TOASTY in there. 2. Putting oversized menus on the counter above where customers are eating isn't the best idea... mostly because you'll get some rude customers that knock the menus into your food, splatter it everywhere and therefore ruin your lunch. Boo. read more

Tacodeli - Blue plate special with mojo fish and barbacoa - Tacos Near Me - Houston, Texas

Fresh & tasty tacos. Good vegetarian options, great salsas and drinks. I first came across Tacodeli when I first started doing the MS-150 bike ride from Houston to Austin. Tacodeli is based out of Austin and has a huge bike team. The folks at Tacodeli are very friendly. They will guide you thru your dining experience. The line seems long and slow, but it's really not bad. I ordered the Blue Plate special, which included rice and beans. My tacos were the Cowboy and Mojo Fish. I did like the Mojo fish with the Mango Habenero sauce. The Cowboy was ok. The refried beans were recommended by the guy taking my order, and I have to agree that I did like them on top of the Mexican rice. Nice touch. The soft drink selection is great. I really enjoy the Maine Root sodas. TD also has coffee, and I heard at the Paper Company that the Paper Company offers the same brand of coffee. I may have to try that next time. The menu is good, but it would be nice to see more diversity in the menu. Having a vegetarian section is a plus for some of my coworkers. For tacos downtown or near downtown, I would rank Dizzy Kaktus first, then Tacodeli, then Luchi & Joey's, then Tacos-A-Go-Go. La Calle and Lone Star are ok. read more

Delicious food that is worth the long lines on the weekends; even at 2:30pm which is 30 minutes before closing. I've tried both the breakfast and lunch vegetarian tacos and while not exactly pure tex-mex (especially without lard); just as tasty as what you can get from the finest traditional places. My favourite is the space cowboy. Steve Miller would be proud. Another wonderful discovery was their migas plate, which featured potatoes. No big deal, since potatoes should come with any mexican breakfast plate, right? No, these potatoes are pureed and smooth like some of the finest mashed potatoes. Along with the refried beans, I feel like I'm eating baby food but it works. About the only negative thing besides the lines are the short hours. This sort of deliciousness shouldn't be just kept to breakfast and lunch. read more

Okay, I may be a little biased because I went to school in Austin, but these are some of my favorite breakfast tacos in Houston. Not only are they tasty, but they're made from high quality ingredients that don't give me a tummy ache (like some other taco spots in Houston). My go-to tacos are the Jess Special, the Otto, and the Freakin' Vegan (with queso fresco--a tasty oxymoron!). I also love trying their rotating tacos. The real star of Tacodeli is the salsa! Oh my god. The Doña, a creamy jalapeño salsa, is out of this world good, and the Roja is great too! You can enjoy these on your tacos in store, or buy a container to go!
