Love their veggie tacos. If they cut back on the salt so we can taste the delicious flavor of the actual food better I'd give it 4 stars. The space cowboy is definitely my favorite. I prefer it with no queso and sometimes add refried beans. My husband loves the Frontera Portabella. The Papadulce is good, but it needs something like refried beans to pull everything together. Not a fan of the heather - the grilled queso fresco lacks flavor. Not sure why they don't have their salsa out in in large containers instead of tiny little plastic containers that are about one serving per taco each. Seems silly and overkill on plastic. I wish the barbacoa taco was available all week! It's all I want to eat right now. Some other tacos are hit or miss for me, but that's probably good to accommodate different people. The salsas are the bomb! read more

Tacodeli has been one of my favorite taco spots since I stumbled upon the original location in Austin a few years ago. The way most people feel about Torchy's, is the way I feel about Tacodeli. I'm happy to have a location in Houston so I won't have to drive so far to get a fix. I usually go for breakfast on the weekends and order a combination of breakfast and lunch tacos. I don't have a favorite, because they're all good, but the queso is literal crack. It's worth all the unnecessary calories. Don't let the Torchy's cult discourage you from receiving this blessing. You won't regret it. read more

As my first time here, I wasn't quite with the program... I ordered the eggs and potato as a breakfast plate. It actually was served in a little bowl which was okay. I was surprised to get mashed potatoes. They were different from traditional breakfast fare... but they were good. They charge extra for pico de gallo. I haven't seen that before. The 'dark roast' coffee was good... but, it wasn't 'dark roast'. It was a busy morning and the irritating sound of dragging chair legs on the hard dining room floor was pretty continual. Maybe nobody else noticed. read more

I've tried this place twice and it is one of the worst breakfast tacos I have ever eaten. I ordered a potato egg and cheese taco, but there was almost no potatoes in them. And 80% the taco was just cheese. If you wanna know, flavor cheese taco then this is your place. read more

I was excited to try Taco Deli after hearing they had opened a location in Houston, but I have to say the food did not live up to the hype. (1) The chips get served to you in a pre-packed plastic bag (like Tostitos you buy at the store). I was very put off by this because I expected this place to serve fresh chips or at least serve the chips warm? (2) They have an option where you can get your taco as a dip (they just give you the taco filling in a cup). But when they give it to you as a dip, you realize that the ratio of dip to chips is completely off, and it leave you feeling like you got a bad deal. (3) The tacos were nothing special. They came out lukewarm (and the tortillas were not great either) We ordered the Deli Belly, Cowboy, the Ceviche, and a Short Rib taco. I do not think I will come back again, but I will say that you should order the Short Rib Taco if you are set on going to Tacodeli. That was the only one we really enjoyed. read more

Taxoideli is is a good local texmax. It's comparable to torchies in which they have a lot of variety of selections for different types of tacos. I order 3 tacos that we're about $4-$5 each. Overall, I think the the tacos were good but they don't blow me away. read more

After months of my friend telling me to check this place out, I finally got the chance to go! I came for breakfast/lunch with two friends and had a really positive experience. This place has a huge variety of tacos and the service is reasonably fast (and friendly!) considering how packed the restaurant gets! I ordered the Shrimposito (savory, seasoned shrimp with cheese and avocado) and Tikin Xic (grilled salmon, spicy black salsa), which were both very good. The Tikin Xic was a little too seasoned/spicy for my taste, so next time I'm at Tacodeli I might pass on that option. I really liked the shrimp taco; its pairing with the cheese and avocado was delicious and I'd definitely order this again! I'm glad I came here and hope to be back again to try their other tacos!! Really unique and awesome selection and delicious food! Parking situation: on-site read more

Came here for some quick breakfast time tacos before attending a class, and it did not disappoint! There was a bit of a line, but I was in between 10am and noon on a Saturday, so that's to be expected. I had a vaquero breakfast taco and a specialty taco with very tender pork. One of the tacos came as a combo with rice/beans and the other typical accompaniments. This place is a little pricy but boasts fresh ingredients, so it seemed like an okay value. Only making it 4 stars because due to the fast/casual style of the restaurant, they weren't THE BEST TACOS I've ever had, but they were pretty decent given the circumstances. Could they have been more flavorful? Yes. Could my order have been prepared faster? Possibly. Did I enjoy my meal and would I return? Yes. read more

The Dona sauce is basically heaven. (Hotter jalapeno/garlic mix I would call it) Tacos are great I really enjoyed them in Austin and the same is true now with them in Houston. I would be the most loyal patron if you opened on in Kingwood, hit me up if there are franchise possibilities :) read more

Our apartment complex had free breakfast this past friday from Tacodeli and surprisingly it was good (especially their house made salsas!) I was never a fan of breakfast tacos because it has too much carbs. We decided to order Tacodeli the next day for breakfast and what was amazing is that they offer "create your own breakfast taco". I really like their sauces, my favorite one is Dona. read more

No matter where, I will always recommend Tacodeli. I had 2 Otto breakfast tacos and a Cha Cha (cold brew and horchata) the best breakfast in the land. I'm a big breakfast taco fan, so I'm inherently a fan of Tacodeli. Their eggs are so light and fluffy and cooked to that perfect point between soggy and dry. They have an awesome selection of breakfast taco classic combos or you can build your own from a large selection of ingredients. Check this place out and let it become a favorite for you, too. Pro tip - get the mashed potatoes on your taco. It sounds strange, but it really works. read more

Yet another Austin transplant placed on Washington Ave. It's a good place to grab some tacos. I've mostly had the breakfast tacos, but they've been ok. Their focus is the farm to table, fresh and better for you approach. Hence the slightly higher price range. I will say you can taste the difference. Menu has a very good number of vegetarian options; more than I've seen at most taco houses. And many can be made vegan style upon request. You can order from the standard menu, but there's also a "taco of the day" option. I like their salsa dona. It's hot, but has pretty good flavor. Service was good. Coffee pretty good. It's a different option if you don't want the general Tex-Mex style of taco. IMO it's better than Torchy's taste wise, but the same as being a bit much on price points. Give them a try for sure if you're in the area. read more

Went here specifically for the breakfast tacos. I got 7 "make your own" with potato, egg, sausage and avocado. I wish there would have been a way to add a 5th item (cheese). I would have been willing to pay extra but there's no way to do more than 4 toppings on the online orders. At any rate, the tacos were delicious. You would think breakfast tacos would be more plentiful since they're relatively easy to make but they're not always easy to find. These were filling, had good ingredients and a great flour tortilla. Also, they had very efficient customer service for takeout with all the COVID stuff going on. Overall it's definitely worth a try. Tacodeli you all should consider offering your breakfast tacos all day instead of just in the mornings!! read more

Meh. Taco Deli earns a mediocre star from me. I first tried this chain in Austin, TX. That time, we had the breakfast tacos and they were pretty decent. This time, I tried a Houston, TX location for lunch. Not very impressed I'm afraid. Everything was just ok. The Tacoloco: This was decently good, but a little on the spicy side. I got it with a corn tortilla. The brisket was actually kind of dry which was disappointing. Rating: 3 The Shrimposito: While the flavor of the shrimp was actually good on this one, it did not pair well with a corn tortilla! I think they should really recommend a flour tortilla with this one. Basically, thy shrimp was so wet that the corn tortilla just ripped and I was left eating my taco with a fork. Not ideal. Rating: 3 I guess I understand the appeal of this place. Especially for the younger patrons (age group 20s-30s) that they appear to appeal to. The service of being able to order online and then go in quickly and grab it, is definitely nice. I just think the food is mediocre though. I think I would rather spend my money on Torchy's. 1. Service - staff here is friendly. Order and Pay up front. Take a seat and your food will be brought out to you. Listen out for your name. 2. Price - $2-3 per taco. Fairly cheap. Tacodeli is another Austin transplant that's making its mark on Houston. It's located right next to Platypus Brewing and close to B&B Butchers. Your first question might be how does Tacodeli compare to Torchy's, another Austin transplant? They both have creative menus with Tacodeli offering more taco options. It's a pretty big menu! You can order your taco or flour, wheat, or corn. A nice way to put it is that Tacodeli is a healthier version of Torchy's with a lot of organic ingredients. They also offer salads, chips and salsa, chips and queso, etc. You can even make it a combo with two tacos of your choice, rice, and beans. Plus, agua frescas. Here's the downside. They're only open for breakfast and lunch (close at 3 PM). They don't list their prices on the menu above the counter where you order. I found this pretty peculiar. I want to know how much things cost before I order! While I know the ingredients are quality, I just didn't like the taste of the tacos as much as I do Torchy's. Not a bad spot by any means, there's just a lot of competition for my taco love in Houston. read more

These tacos are DELICIOUS!! I first saw Tacodeli when dining at B&B across the parking lot when my boyfriend told me he always heard it was good. Because of the short hours, we never made time to come try it out until this weekend. I got a breakfast taco from Tacodeli at a farmers market I often go to on Saturday mornings in Tanglewood and it was great! The next morning, my boyfriend and I headed to Washington Ave to grab some tacos and queso for lunch. The options are Tacodeli are great! So many organic and vegetarian choices!! It made me so happy!! I decided on getting a "build your own" breakfast taco that had the eggs, queso fresco, mashed potatoes (YUM) and avocado. It was one of the best breakfast tacos I've ever had!! I ordered 2 and took one home. My boyfriend ordered 2 tacos, both contained meat so I was unable to try his but he said they were both great! When it comes to tacos, mexican, or Tex- Mex, I judge the place largely off their queso... let's say Tacodeli's ROCKED! It was so cheesy and creamy, SO good!!! We will for sure be coming back to Tacodeli and can't wait to try some lunch options!! read more

Taco Deli! Super convenient location to where I live, and thus my go to taco stop. They are now open all hours of the day, including dinner, which makes it super convenient! That was my only gripe about taco deli before was that their hours were hard to catch (would close at 3pm etc) but now open til 9pm. They have a variety of mix and match breakfast tacos (have yet to try these out), but I definitely just come here for their lunch/dinner tacos. My favorites are the steak fundido and shrimposito tacos. They are sooo jam packed with flavor, and they give quite a lot of protein to fill in. The tacos range from about $3.95-$4.95 per taco depending. My other favorite thing here is the sandia agua fresca aka pure watermelon juice aka pure refreshing bliss. It is super delicious and amazing on a hot summer day. Definitely recommend stopping by here if you have a hunkering for tacos and are in the area! read more

Refused to take my order over the phone. The woman answered. She spent over a minute explaining to me that they won't take my order over the phone. Fk her. Fk Tacodeli. Super super overrated. Overpriced plus very small portions. Classic example of a business thriving on its Austin reputation than the quality of its product. Top down problem to boot. Rude employees. Rude and arrogant managers. I suspect the owners are crappy people too. read more

Second time here in the Houston location and has yet to disappoint! First time I had it was in Austin and couldn't wait for it to open here in Houston. Vast amount of choices to cater everyone even has special tacos daily! Weekends are my favorite just because I'm a fan of their breakfast which is served all day, but also the ceviche taco is on point!!! Anyways came by on a Thursday, sadly not in time for breakfast, but still fulfilled. Started off with the Brazo Fuerte dip which was delicious; honestly couldn't stop eating it. Then had the pollo en mole, frontera fundido sirloin, and tried the special they had (not on the menu I don't think). Add the variety of salsas they have and you will truly enjoy yourself. They also have a neat, but rather small patio to enjoy the outdoors. read more

I haven't been here in years since we moved from houston. It's an Austin based taco place like torchy is. Parking is one way so be careful in the parking lot since there is that rush coming off washington. This is during Covid so there was not a line when ordering so that was good. I love seeing the options of salsa levels and I normally don't use salsa but my weak self was able to handle level 3 the green one out of 4 hot levels. I usually get breakfast tacos, and you can custom build your own if you are on a certain diet. I love the cute decor around, like the tables. And staff was nice and cool asking if things are good. read more

Tacodeli is one of my top spots for tacos and really they're easily #1 depending on the kind of taco you're looking for. These tacos are more Americanized and run $4 to $5 each but every single taco I've tried here has been delicious. I would say my top five tacos are the Jess Special, Frontera Fundido Sirloin, Freakin' Vegan, The Heather, and The Otto in no particular order. Tacodeli also has my favorite salsas! It's almost to the point where the tacos are just a medium for the salsas as I usually get three of their little cups of salsa per taco. read more

I've tried Tacodeli in Austin before, and the quality definitely carries over to Houston! The ingredients are just as fresh and authentic. The interior of the restaurant even looks pretty similar as well. On this particular visit, I ordered several breakfast tacos. I tried the Otto, the Frontera Fundido, and a customized taco! The Otto was my personal favorite. The black beans were very tender and juicy. The bacon was so crisp and moist. The Frontera Fundido was also very good as well. The sirloin was perfectly cooked and seasoned. All the different house salsas are worth a try. They are full of flavor and spices! Overall, my experience here was pretty great. The tacos came out quickly, and the food was incredible. In addition, there is a large lot nearby that makes parking a breeze. I will be sure to come back in the future to try the lunch tacos!! read more

Favorite taco place in Houston! Love all the vegetarian (and vegan) friendly options they have to offer and the entire staff is always kind and upbeat. My go to tacos are the Freakin' Vegan, Space Cowboy, and Migas tacos. Taco-bout choices! Definitely not complaining about another Austin establishment making its mark in Houston :) What I like best about Tacodeli are its breakfast tacos and sauces. The breakfast tacos are my go-to. They're filling, not oily at all, and completely customizable, making it a great way to start your day on a healthy and happy stomach. They're also vegan friendly which is something kind of hard to find in Houston. The other big winners are the sauces. They seriously got some badass sauces here. Just enough kick and flavoring to take the taco to another level. Salsa Dona, you have my heart As for lunch tacos....I gotta admit I still like Torchy's more. The lunch tacos aren't bad, they're just not ah-mazing, and I feel like I can get similar flavorings at a taco food truck for cheaper. And it's annoying how they close at 3p since 5 out of 7 days I'm working then. read more

Came here on a nice Saturday afternoon for lunch and was able to easily find parking nearby. I got the carne asada and mojo fish taco. Both were delicious but my favorite was the carne asada! Usually seafood tacos and be hit or miss but i really enjoyed the mojo taco as well. The chips and guac are decently portioned (got a medium) and could be split amongst two with some leftover. The guac has a nice spicy kick to it which I loved. This is a great spot with indoor and outdoor seating! read more

Yayyyy! I've been wanting to try Tacodeli for some time now, but everytime I'm in Austin, we somehow cant squeeze it in. Today that changed when the FIRST Tacodeli Houston location opened up! I called in to see if they had reached their first 100 shirts, and they had not! The guy on the phone took my order, and said it would be ready in 10 mins, I ordered 6 tacos. When I got there, there was a line out the door. I walked into the separate side door for online and call in orders, went right to the register, no line. Checkout was easy, they asked if I wanted any sauces, or needed any help picking out sauces. They had some packed ready to go. I ordered el popeye, the vaquero, the jess special, and the otto without bacon. My favorites were the vaquero and jess special. The el popeye was good too, spinach was fresh and the taco was not watery as I was expecting. The eggs in all the tacos were great. I got a wheat tortilla for all tacos, but they offer flour and corn as well. Tortillas were awesome. They have about 4 different sauces, red - mild, verde, the dona, a jalapeño poblano sauce (my fav!) and a habanero. I also ordered the pineapple. lime. jalapeno agua fresca. It was super tangy, not sure If I would try that again.. Watermelon sounds promising. I believe the guy who helped me was Russel, he was super helpful, and even caught that I was missing at taco, after reviewing/checking to see if my order was correct, so he had it fixed. Parking was super easy, there is a lot on the other side of silver street, I hope that's safe to park in! Overall, I was super satisfied with my visit! read more

*Iron Chef voice* If my memory serves me correctly, Tacodeli is a fantastic taco joint originally based in the Austin area, focused on high quality ingredients. Tacodeli has been one of my favorite taco spots in Austin for the last several years (sorry torchys), so when I heard they were opening in Houston I was excited to say the least! Their opening was at 7am, so I set my alarm for 5:30 so I could be one of the firsts in line, even coming in all the way from Sugar Land. I can't wake up early for work or the gym, but when it comes to breakfast tacos? I'm there! I don't care the question - breakfast tacos are always the answer! #thisiswhyimfat The tacodeli hype is real, guys. I got there at 6:40, 20 minutes before it opened, and the line was already snaking around that corner of the building. The entire time in line, I was praying that Houston wouldn't once again disappoint me when it came to representing my favorite Austin chains. Even as I was ordering familiar favorites like the Otto, I was legitimately nervous and anxious that I'd be left disappointed. But never fear, friends! Breakfast tacos never disappoint! And tacodeli pulls through once again! Absolutely fantastic. Perfectly made flour tortillas with the right just-grilled texture enclosing soft, fluffy goodness. The Otto had deliciously rich refried black beans, ripe avocado, and crispy, flavorful bacon. Fluffy eggs, sharp cheese, and tender sirloin - the quintessential sirloin, egg, and cheese. A sweet and refreshing horchata. And the dona sauce? Just as I remembered it. Creamy with a fantastically spicy kick. Welcome to Houston, Tacodeli. I'm looking forward to visiting you again and again. May your stay here be long and delicious. read more
