The taco stand was a cute little place in the heart of Westheimer. Keep in mind that it's a chain restaurant rather than a mom and pop shop though. So, there are multiple other locations and also the quality of everything is generic to the chain. Besides for the higher cost of a taco in the area, these tacos were very good. These tacos were juicy and flavorful. I got the quesobirria tacos. They came with 3 tacos and a soup to dip. They also had an open side bar with pickled onions and sauces so don't forget to pick up some of those. Surface was fast. You order at the counter. Then, you pick up at the counter when your order is ready. It makes things quick and easy when I went. There wasn't much of a line, but I can see it getting busy. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. And depending on how nice the weather is having that option is super nice and Houston weather. There is also a parking lot, which makes things very easy. However I was very suprised upon entering to find a very large menu with options you wouldn't typically find in any other texmex or taco cash-grab type restaurant. And I will say the Suadero tacos were very good in quality and genuinely tasted authentic. The tomatillo salsa captured a delicious kind of zest and the tortillas de maíz felt homemade. The aesthetic of the Taco Stand brings modernity to a prized culinary tradition of Mexican street food. Jiroo is an absolute professional! Top notch customer service and very personable! Had a very minor issue and he took care of it! I will add this, it's better to get the tacos fresh! Using door dash isn't the same experience or Uber Eats. Food: every taco was made fresh and full of flavor. The Carne Asada that was amazing. The pork taco was good as well. The Barbacoa was phenomenal. The breakfast tacos were amazing. The salsa were good too. I want to say the tortillas are homemade because everything was phenomenal. This is a great location, you gotta love the drive-through. I love that you can place an order drive-through pick it up and go on your way. Parking is always tough in this side of town so the fact that they offer drive-through was a huge plus! I will definitely come back. This will be one of my go to places for tacos in the future. I have been waiting for this Taco Stand on Westheimer to open for quite some time. I finally got a chance to try it today when I shopped at my favorite thrift store - Out of the Closet. I walked across the street with 2 friends. As we walked in, I immediately noticed the easel sign promoting Negro Pozole. In this freaking cold weather... hell yeah. I wanted some hot soup. One of my friends ordered shrimp and fish tacos. The other guy ordered a fish taco. The dining room felt crowded as so many stools blocking the aisles. We were there after 6 pm on Saturday. The place had a few customers. The wait was kind of long. We waited 15 minutes to be exact. That's when I noticed so many things wrong. My soup was room temperature. Disappointed. My friend got 2 fish tacos on a tray. The other guy got one shrimp taco. They were polite at that time as why they didn't tell me. I also asked for a receipt when I placed the order but the cashier walked away after the register was closed. Because I got distracted after I joined the rewards program and got $7.60 reward for next time. I completely forgot about it until another customer asked me how much I paid for mine. I truly didn't know because I should have a receipt. Ugh. This restaurant is new. There are many kinks need to be worked out. Like we literally wasted 2 containers of pickled carrots. Because me and my friend only wanted to try one piece. We had to take the individual containers for each of us. My other friend actually took our leftovers with him. Originally ordered a to-go order but had a meeting cancel, so I asked if I could sit at a table. The weather was nice so I opted for a table outside and the TVs and breeze did not disappoint. The location is near a bus stop so there's a steady stream of traffic outside of it, but it isn't distracting. I ordered the gringo burrito with chicken and beef and it didn't disappoint. I wasn't feeling a food truck waiting period, or joining the drunken crowd at Whataburger or the like, so before heading back north I made a stop here. The drive thru was friendly, the choices were plentiful and when I pulled up to the window everything continued to improve. The (likely owner) popped their head out of the window fully adorned branded burger joint gear. In the absolute best mood for this time of night he then proceeded to joke with me before finally heading back to grab my food. Seriously, this is one of those folks that has a way of improving your night. The food itself...it was okay. There were a few items meant to be served hot that arrived to me room temp and I never received the bottled water I paid for, but all and all, the owners personality made up for the missteps lol. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The entire experience was disappointing from start to finish. First, it took an unusually long time to place our order. When our food finally arrived, it was completely wrong. We informed the staff, and while they said they would fix it, we ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes for the tacos we originally ordered. The food itself was not worth the wait. The tacos were extremely greasy, and one of them was missing the grilled onions that were supposed to come with it. The corn in a cup was also disappointing it seemed to be mostly water with very little actual corn. Overall, the restaurant seems very disorganized, and the quality of the food did not meet expectations. There are plenty of authentic taco trucks and local spots that offer much better food and service. Unfortunately, I won't be returning and cannot recommend this place to others. Newest location in my neighborhood, the drive thru is key for me. I think they're open til 4am on weekends. These are not the best tacos in Houston. For me it's convenience and it's pretty good food. They have the variety-agua frescas, salsa station, chips and queso tacos burritos quesadillas etc I was here for the first time after 1am during the Halloween Montrose pub crawl so opinions a bit skewed but my burrito was good. I only ate half of it, such a big portion. Service was quick and easy. But I have had Taco Stand sober many times too, Heights location! (Also with the drive thru model) This location has a full parking lot I think, in addition to a good amount of of patio/inside seating. Their business concept is open space, not an enclosed building per se. When we first got there, I notice the handicap parking is all the way in the back and I did not see a ramp, it was after I made my way to the restaurant that I was able to explore a bit and discover the ramp is on the other side of the restaurant, is on the side that faces the street Mulberry St. If they spent some more money on marker the the ground on painting a walking pathing leak from the handicap spot to the ramp, it would be nicer. You order at the counter and you pick up your food at the counter also. They have a big patio seating here. The food is reasonably priced. First the meat for the tacos are great but the corn tortilla is not fresh made, it taste like pre-made from a factory tortilla. The green salsa is spicy! Do not go to this place. Huge disappointment and we were served by April the general manager in the drive thru. I paid $28 for 4 beef fajita tacos, was given two salsas only one red and one green. The tacos were cold, the meat was caked in grease and extremely salty. I could not believe they were serving this to people. The audacity to ask for a tip too when they check you out was crazy to me. I got the shrimp taco and the Pescado taco. They were both extremely bland and I definitely will not get again. My son got the picadillo and it was cooked down so much that it tasted more of a chili than anything. I did enjoy their queso and chips and my husband enjoyed their Barbacoa . Food was a little warm not freshly made hot, ordered 1 chicken fajita taco with no cilantro and 1 beef fajita taco with no cilantro. Food tasted like it was resalted and just nuked for like 30 seconds, not even hot. I've had better 7 eleven tacos. Plus they make you tip at the drive through- why? No service at all other than handing me the food that was so horrible I had to stop eating it. Way too much salt, I won't even give it to my pets as that would be too unhealthy for them too. this is not the best taco in Houston by any means but they always have good value in terms of portion size. I was a patron at their shepherd location and am glad to see they've added one in Montrose. I always go with the carne asada burrito, it always has a barely noticeable metallic taste not sure what that's all about, but the price makes the metallic taste worth it i guess bc i keep coming back. maybe figure out where the metal taste is coming from (foil? pot used for beans?) and I'll give this place 6 stars read more

Stopped by yesterday and the food was good, but the wait was honestly way too long. There was only one person working, trying to handle both drive-thru and walk-up orders at the same time, and you could tell they were overwhelmed.The line barely moved, and people were just standing around confused. Not the worker's fault at all -- they were hustling ,but this spot definitely needs more staff, especially during busy times.If you come here, just be ready to wait. I came in to visit on a Tuesday night. The ambiance was nice and there service was quick and somewhat efficient. It was my first visit and the exterior menu was not very descriptive but they had a mini menu on the counter that described how each taco was made.
