I have been eating at Cabo bobs since I was in college in Austin. All locations are always great. Cabo bobs is superior to all other burrito and taco places. I am a huge fan of the fish tacos. I like to add queso to them or dip them in queso. (Don't hate it til you ate it) I would like to add that their queso is only $3.99 and it really is GREATTT queso. Great texture and flavor. Honestly best burrito in Houston, forget about going to Chipotle. You gotta go to Bobs Cabo Bobs. 4 different types of tortillas, they have all the meats (including fish), and they a lot of sauces and toppings you can choose from. They offered seafood as alternative from chicken and beef so that's a plus. Their sauce gave me different taste bud than Chipotle so I was happy with the alternative. Delicious and affordable burrito bowls and burritos! And yes, it is better than Chipotle, which we used to frequent often before coming here. We order take out probably once every other week, and the quality and quantity is consistently excellent. We have tried the chicken, fried fish, brisket, and chips + queso. Vibe: Feels like you're on vacation along the coastal beaches of southern California. Very casual and relaxing. Food: The chicken is tender and flavorful. As the fried fish is not as frequently ordered, it is nearly always freshly fried and crunchy, and always delicious. The chips and queso are very good! Queso is the perfect texture for dipping/scooping and spiced well - complements the burrito or burrito bowl perfectly. The chips are pretty thick and hold the queso well. I only ordered the brisket once and I was personally not a fan of the flavor and texture (it's kind of saucy/watery) but I can understand why some people would like it. Our favorite sauce is the chipotle crema - very creamy and smoky. The portion size is very generous. While we typically get burrito bowls, we did try a smoky cheddar burrito once and it was fantastic! Unfortunately I won't be back :( I ordered three fish tacos and queso for pick up. My pick-up time was at 4:13. I arrived, checked in, and proceeded to wait for my food. After waiting for around 20 minutes, I decided to call. I watched the lady through the door as she answered the phone. She then hung up because she said she couldn't hear me. I called back. She answered again and came outside to finally greet me after waiting there for 20 minutes. I gave her my name and told her that I was here to pick up my order. About 5 to 7 minutes later, she came out with my food. I didn't check the bag, and I drove home. Upon receiving my food, I realized that the fish tacos were extremely cold and soggy as they had been waiting there. I ordered sauce on the side that wasn't there. I ate one single taco before I decided that the flavor just wasn't good enough. It was just breading with no seasoning on the fish. There was no flavor to it. The tacos were really dry. I just paid $17 for a skimpy steak quesadilla and guac. Only to have to ask where my quesadilla was because I was standing there waiting so long... so now I have a lukewarm quesadilla that I spent almost $20 on with hardly any meat. If I wanted skimpy meat, I would have went to chipotle. However, I'm more so mad about waiting extremely long just to see my food had been sitting there because they were so busy. Visiting Houston area over the weekend and this place came highly recommended for take out (and eat in). Order the Nachos - brisket and it was truly out of this world! Yep, even on a 20 minute drive back to the hotel before being able to eat it - chips were still crispy and the entire entree was still hot and quite tasty! There was definitely plenty of brisket and very tender and was spread throughout the nachos. I did the basic on the options but the toppings available are indeed plentiful and very fresh! Oh, I should note, this entree is quite shareable. If solely based on this entree, this review would definitely be 5 stars! The fish taco's on the other hand, well, not quite up to par. I ordered the #3 on the fish tacos option. Something was definitely not right...I get not wanting them to be soggy due to being takeout but these were the dried, bland and unflavorful of fish tacos I have ever had. There were plentiful toppings but even after squeezing the single lime that was included, well, that wasn't enough to bring moistness to these fish tacos. Even my photo compared to the other ones posted here shows something was missing.....definitely a bummer. Customer service, from the beginning of the line to cashier, was polite enough but everyone seemed just "there" - maybe it was just my luck but gal at the beginning seemed annoyed with the young man next on the line - from the looks of it, he wasn't moving fast enough for her so she not only ran the tortilla portion (which looked amazing as she made them) but she went and got the chips for the nachos I ordered which was further down the line but she was quite efficient just seemed annoyed. The young man didn't really offer what the options were even when I told him I hadn't been there before and wanted to know what options were available. He simply pointed down at the holding bins. It wasn't until the next gal told him to point out what meats were available that he perked up. I think this may have been where the fish tacos had their fail because the gal prior to the cashier couldn't wait for this young man to keep moving as slow as he was. Wow!! First timer and mind blown. I've never been to chipotle but I heard this place is similar but better. All I can tell you is it's amazing! So fresh, delicious and enormous portions. It's an insane amount of food for the price. I went low carb with a steak "salad" but opted for no lettuce, rice or beans and added extra grilled veggies, steak and alllll the sauces. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Made with love, that's obvious. ... Again, can't compare it to Chipotle but why bother with a big corporate entity who keeps shrinking the portions while raising the prices (I've heard) when you can support this amazing Texas-based business? The fact that I have to make a bad review is so against what I stand for and is so frustrating. The way I was treated today was extremely insensitive and unprofessional. " Tania" was working on my order. She messed up my burrito by doing another persons burrito. As I was showing her which toppings I wanted she was laughing and speaking in Spanish to her coworker, Maria. They began to laugh and talk under their breath to each other. Every time I would say another topping they would laugh. It got to the point where I addressed Tania in Spanish, which I'm sure she didn't know I spoke, and I asked her very calmly and respectful, "Whats wrong?" She nodded, gave an unprofessional look and laughed once more with Maria. I have been to Cabo Bobs countless times. It's my go-to spot. Never once have I experienced bad customer service or this level of unprofessionalism. With the sassy attitude and giggling I felt uncomfortable. I am a regular here, I come more often than most. I went with a recommendation from a co-worker for a quick lunch. I would have loved to try one of the burritos or tacos but had dinner plans that evening. I chose to get a bite from the kids menu to hold me over and boy was I pleasantly surprised the portion I got. The tortillas were flavored with ancho and cheddar and cilantro, choice of steak, chicken and brisket all the various toppings were graciously added and had a small queso with lunch bag of chips. One thing that stood out to me was the quality of cheese in the queso, and the chips crispy hard and not greasy. All this with a small mint tea which was refreshing for the price of 8$. It was just the right amount without being overly stuffed. I definitely will be back with my son. I know he will be able to finish off one of there big burritos. My mom actually introduced me to Cabo Bobs and at first I was a little skeptical lol mostly because I'm 8 months pregnant and I didn't really want to try anything new and be disappointed but I loved it! Food is delicious. One of my favorite places for something quick. I have no complaints about the food or establishment in itself. My only gripe is the customer service could be a little better. Some of the staff (not all) are not very friendly and make the visit uneasy. I understand the circumstances of working behind a counter serving many customers in a hot environment. However, I also know good customer service and there's a way to talk and respond to people. I wish it was an isolated incident but it's almost every time. Is best to pay separately if you go with a +1 etc to get correct credit. Be prepared to endure loud rude local kids. The flock in masses to this place. In general a great place. I go there often. I come to Cabo Bob's on Fountain View all the time and it never gets old, it's a tradition at this point. This is the best Cabo Bob's in the Houston area and the staff is wonderful. The ingredients are so fresh. You get that homemade taste but trust me, can't make it like this at home. They have chicken, veggies, shredded pork, chopped brisket, crispy fish, and grilled steak to choose from and you can see them preparing it in the back. Their baja beans are my favorite. The toppings feel endless and they're all made fresh. They don't stop there. Once you build your burrito, quesadilla, tacos, salad, or bowl, you can add some of their amazing sauces. My favorites are the red salsa and ancho rancho. I always order the burrito bowl and add flour tortillas. The buttermilk is my favorite but they have other flavors like smoky cheddar, ancho chili, and cilantro tomatillo. They're made to order every time and you can mix the flavors together if you do a quesadilla or burrito. This place is my second home at this point! Every time I happen to scroll past my camera roll picture of these tacos I start salivating. This is easily one of my favorite taco spots in Houston. I've visited twice now and have loved each visit. It's similar to chipotle in that it has a build your own taco/burrito/bowl concept but has several more options to choose from. They also have a few preselected options for their tacos if you'd prefer not to build your own. My favorite are the ancho chili and smoked cheddar tortillas. On my last visit, I opted for the brisket as my meat (loved it) and they have a wide variety of meat selections. I liked the black beans as well and opted for a few more toppings on each taco. They let you add both shredded cheese and queso which was a home run for me. You can choose between 3 tacos, a burrito or a bowl. I have only tried the tacos each time and will probably keep getting that order. The tacos are very filling and 2 are usually enough for me. They will grab the dough for each taco or burrito and make the tortilla on their rotating pan in front of you - very cool to watch! Love love love cabo bob's. Imagine your favorite local giant Tex-Mex burrito chain, but with some ~spice~. Service is usually friendly and fast, and they have a nice reward system. The burritos are massively portioned and have excellent flavor in the tortilla. One burrito can take me from starving to bursting, and there are smoked chili sauces that are also worth trying out, and make a nice addition. While I used to have to make the journey to Austin for this delicious burrito joint, I'm so glad that it's now only 10 minutes away. Overall, it's a warm and groovy space with plenty of space to hang out with friends, relax and enjoy giant and delicious burritos with a reward system! What's not to like? read more

Great alternative to Chipotle. I'm a big fan of Chipotle burritos by the way but I also prefer to support local businesses. They have a similar set-up to Chipotle plus they have a few ready-made menu offerings listed on the board. It seems like they use fresh ingredients and really care about their food. I figured I'd let them take the wheel this time and ordered the Brisket & Queso Burrito (#6). It was pretty tasty, with juicy and generous brisket. I also tried the fish tacos (#1) and they were yummy, with perfectly breaded fish. One of my favorite elements here was the fresh tortillas.
