The fact that I have to make a bad review is so against what I stand for and is so frustrating. The way I was treated today was extremely insensitive and unprofessional. " Tania" was working on my order. She messed up my burrito by doing another persons burrito. As I was showing her which toppings I wanted she was laughing and speaking in Spanish to her coworker, Maria. They began to laugh and talk under their breath to each other. Every time I would say another topping they would laugh. It got to the point where I addressed Tania in Spanish, which I'm sure she didn't know I spoke, and I asked her very calmly and respectful, "Whats wrong?" She nodded, gave an unprofessional look and laughed once more with Maria. I have been to Cabo Bobs countless times. It's my go-to spot. Never once have I experienced bad customer service or this level of unprofessionalism. With the sassy attitude and giggling I felt uncomfortable. I am a regular here, I come more often than most. I genuinely have a love affair with Cabo bob's burritos! They are amazing and quite honestly my favorite burrito ever. The concept is like chipotle but just everything about it is better! They have the tortillas as dough so they are freshly pressed and made. Here - it's all about the burritos and the freshly made tortillas - so definitely go for burritos! The choices of fillings are plentiful and different compared to other competitors like freebirds or chipotle. This is my second time going to Cabo Bob's. The first time was interesting. The chicken was dry, rice was over cooked, and the ingredients were mushy. Almost a year later I walk in to a new location that just opened up not expecting such... A great burrito. What I had was a chicken and pork burrito with pretty much everything you can possibly fill it with. Along with queso and there mild sauce on the side with a fountain drink to compliment with food. I made an Arnold Palmer with there specialty drinks. The chicken was cooked perfectly along with the rice. The pork also had tons of flavor. The ingredients were flawless and queso was amazing. The size of this burrito was massive, Good for anyone really trying to get full. The Arnold Palmer on the other hand ehhh ._. They didn't have sweet tea so what was i expecting... Reminded me of the same vibes as Freebirds or Chipotle where you assemble your burrito or your bowl as you down the line...but it felt like there was much more flavor and originality to it. There are four different flavors of tortilla to choose from that they press and cook right in front of you from the start. I ended up with the fish burrito with an Ancho Chili tortilla, which was pretty tasty! The fish has a nice crispy texture on the outside. The place has a bit of an Austin vibe to it, which I love. All of the stuff we encountered there were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back! COVID update: All staff are wearing masks and gloves, masks are required inside, there is social-distanced indoor seating or outdoor picnic table space, and a hand sanitizer pump outside the door. I found a place that is fresher, tastes better, has more menu options, has larger portion sizes, and is cheaper. What?! It's a no-brainer option over Chipotle. Service was fast and very polite. The restaurant itself was clean including the bathroom. The decor and design inside is what you'd expect from a fast, casual taco place; they were playing Cali reggae music, too. It's been a while but I made it back to Cabo to give it another shot! Extra start for the customer service! Thanks to another Yelper, Stephanie, I took her suggestion on the brisket. This visit I got the Brisket Queso Burrito, and yes it taste as good as it sounds! I opted for the cheddar quesadilla and less cilantro with everything else remaining the same. It was filled with sautéed onions, rice, beans, Queso, and the red hot sauce. My first bite was soft, smooth, and flavorful! I'm in love with the cheddar tortilla! If you love brisket and queso, definitely give this burrito a shot! The customer service was still great. Everyone was nice and communicated my order back to me to make sure they completed it correctly. Wasn't a long wait. And I love that you can customize your meal anyway you want. Maybe my new lunch go to when I'm in the office?! Was trying to find a place for lunch and stumbled across this place. The photos online have me a fun 'chipotle' vibe with more options so decided to give them a shot. Wasn't sure how busy it would be so I ordered online and ran over to pick up. The place wasn't too busy, but it wasn't dead either. The staff were all super friendly and helpful as I waited for my order to be made. Once I got back to the office and could dig it; I was pleasantly surprised. For $11, I ordered 2 tacos and an order of chips and Queso - and this place blow chipotle out of the water! I had 2 make your own tacos - 1.) Chicken, Onion, Cilantro, Cheese, Ancho Rancho, Buttermilk Flour Tortilla. 2.) First Impressions: At first it seemed to be a better version of chipotle and bullrito. We were craving Cabo Bob's ever since we first tried it in Austin and we're so glad we found out there was this location in Houston too!! Firstly, let it be known that I also LOVE Chipotle, so when I say that Cabo Bob's is waaaay better, I really mean that. The toppings that this place offers is just much more flavorful than Chipotle and the fact that you can pick 1 or 2 flavors for your tortilla is just so fun. We both chose chicken burritos. I had the cilantro mixed with the ancho tortilla, while he had just the cilantro tortilla. Also, the cucumber mango salsa is to die for - it's just so good. The lady recommended the crema sauce for the chicken and she was not wrong when she said it would be good. I wish I lived closer to this place! I will for sure be coming back. This place absolutely slaps. They have options in types of burrito flour, and it gets cooked right there seconds before they add in the toppings. For those of us who are used to handmade tortillas at home, fresh tortillas go a long way vs the Chipotle ones that are just reheated. The meat is good, they've got those ceramic egg slowcookers back by the grill so I assume that's how that's done. The sides are always good and fresh, their hotsauce is good and you can get chopped jalapenos in your burrito too. Prices are great, I picked up a burrito and a drink here for $11 or so, while it was $15 at chipotle. Their burrito sizes are waaay bigger than Chipotle and they have sodas with real cane sugar in it. Try the Cherry Limeade, it's pretty damn good. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could, I recommend it to all my friends. They have a stamped card system so every 7th burrito is free! My ONLY 2 issues are that the line can be out the door during peak dinner times (which is just because they're soo good), and once I showed up on Sunday and I guess they're closed all day Sunday. Ambiance is good, I've been to Cabo and it's about the same as the touristy restaurants there. read more

I am usually a Chipotle or Freebird's kind of guy, but was told I had to try this spot out. It's the same concept in where you go down the line and pick your base and all the toppings and then eat! We came at lunch and the line was long but moved quick. I usually get a bowl, but decided on a burrito that day. I picked the ancho chili tortilla, black beans, rice, chicken and a bunch of toppings. They have a nice selection of craft sodas as well as your usual suspects and some lemonade. Upon the first few bites, I realized that Cabo Bob's might've just moved up to the top of my list for these type of restaurants. Everything from the tortilla all the way down to the toppings tasted great and fresh. Chips and queso were just ok. Love eating Cabo Bob's in Austin so I was excited when they opened this Houston location. I got the deluxe fish tacos which comes in different tortillas (usually I get the basic fish tacos) and although it was more expensive, I think it's worth a try. The tortillas were so good! Only bad thing about my meal today was that the fish seemed a little more salty than usual. Maybe just a fluke. The fish tacos are my fave and I got chips/guac to go with it. Love the amount of food you get (3 tacos in an order) for the price ($10ish). My table was clean but there were bits of paper on the bench. Definitely better than chipotle. First guy in the line pressing the tortillas was super nice. Next guy making the burritos was nice but not super nice. And then the cashier was indifferent. She actually seemed annoyed when I asked for hot sauce after she rang me up. I don't think it's extra because it's just a small container that they give you. But she didn't charge me for it. The hot sauce was regular 66 sauce. It was ok. I could taste the smoky tinge. But I wasn't a big fan overall. I didn't want rice and beans and I thought they'd skimp on the meat as a result but they didn't. So kudos for that. Chips were of the thick variety. It was good except one chip looked, how do I say ... used. Like it had some old crusty cheese on it and a piece of some sort of veggie dangling. For a second I wondered if they reuse the chips like some Chinese places reuse the uneaten rice. But that just can't be. Everything is out in the open too. Maybe one of the servers hands was dirty when getting the queso? Not sure. I'm not sure I want to know. But ack. Queso was good. Regular size was plenty for our burrito and chips. We got brisket burrito. With the cheese tortilla which they pressed and toasted fresh in front of us. And it was pretty good. Guacamole and queso are extra if ordered on the burrito they said so we passed. The churro blondie was really moist and tasty. I know, That's what she said (beat you to it). My personal favorite would be the fish burrito with half cilantro and half flour tortilla. The burrito is honestly the size of your face and I always can take some home to eat later. My fiancé and I are coming here at least once a week, it's that good. The fresh tortillas made right in front of you are awesome and the burritos are as big as your head. Service is phenomenal even when there is a long line. The chicken, steak and even the fish is cooked perfectly. Fairly priced for how much you get, wont break the bank. As you walk in you're greeted by lively chatter, surf board style high top tables and an open, clean, bustling (yet organized) kitchen. Bob the owner & myself had a nice conversation about the founding of Cabo Bob & just a casual convo. I forgot to mention he gave me a free queso & chips on the house ! That in itself let's me know that this establishment cares about the people & oh of course the food ! My wife & I only get burritos with chicken or steak & they remind us of the burritos from California where we are from. I can say best burrito we've had so far in Texas. But I'd say best in Houston! Cabo Bobs OVER Chipotle. A friend introduced me to Cabo Bob's and I'm so happy that happened. It's close by and right across from a HEB. Super convenient! Similar style to a chipotle where you are in line ordering all your toppings one by one. They have many tortilla flavors you can choose from that are hand made fresh in front of you (Ancho Chilli, Cilantro Tomatillo, Smoky Cheddar & Buttermilk Flour). When I went I got the bowl w/ a side of tortilla. I liked the Cheddar & Cilantro Tomatillo. I got the steak bowl with half brown and half white rice, black beans, lettuce, pico, cheese, red salsa, guac. cabbage, chiptole crema and lime juice. The steak was nicely seasoned & pretty juicy. Also got the chips/queso (the queso was yummmy and creamy). I'm pretty sure I'll be choosing Cabo Bobs now versus Chiptole. read more

I was so excited to try this place because I get really bored of the other fast food Mexican places like Chipotle or Freebirds. I also thought it was pretty cool how you can really customize different things in your meal, for example the type of tortilla flavor or the multiple different sauces and salsas. I liked this place, but I didn't love it. I would definitely come back if I was craving some fast Mexican food, but I also might just consider going to Chipotle down the street from me. As a vegetarian - I got a customizable burrito with the ancho chili tortilla, veggies, cheese, sour cream, chipotle Crema, mango pico, caramelized onions and poblano peppers, and rice. The next time I get this I probably would try to add some type of spicy salsa to it and also take out the rice. The rice is okay, it's kind of dry and not as flavorful as I usually like. That being said, this burrito is HUGE - definitely can save it for 2 meals. I also got the chips and guacamole - the guacamole was underwhelming. I added my own lime and more cilantro to make it more exciting. It tasted like store-bought prepackaged guacamole. Wouldn't get it again.
