My wife, our baby, and I sat down for dinner, and Herand immediately tended to us. He was very friendly and hospitable. The food was incredibly fresh and made to order--perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. What a hidden gem this place is! We will definitely be returning customers. read more

I ordered the boneless chicken to go and everything was absolutely delicious! The chicken was flavorful and the sides complemented it perfectly. Everything tasted fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. The restaurant itself was warm, welcoming, and very clean. I loved the open kitchen concept where you could watch them grilling the meats from the dining area. Overall, a great Mediterranean spot with delicious food and a really nice atmosphere! read more

Unfortunately, our visit was a disappointment. The owner came across as rude and abrasive from the moment we walked in. We arrived before 7:00 p.m., and the first thing he asked was whether we thought we "could make it" since they closed at 8:00. It left us wondering if we were going to be rushed out the door at closing. The ingredients seemed fresh, but the food itself was underwhelming. Nearly every dish was overloaded with onions. I enjoy onions, but this was excessive and overwhelmed the other flavors. Most importantly, if you're looking for authentic Persian cuisine, this isn't it. The menu and flavors leaned much more Mediterranean than Persian. I'm very familiar with Persian food, and Houston has several truly excellent Persian restaurants. I'd recommend skipping this one and trying one of those instead. read more

Somehow, I missed posting my review back in March when I visited. This is where my aunt picked for our dinner for 2. The owner was actually our server, which made the whole experience feel more personal in my opinion. You can tell there's real pride in what he does, everything we had was made fresh and came out just right. We ordered the baba ghanoush, salad Shirazi, and the chenjej kabob, and everything was full of flavor. We finished with the baklava for dessert, which was the perfect sweet ending. (my favorite was the birds nest.) The place itself is very clean, organized, and has a fresh, welcoming feel, which makes a big difference to the busy hustle of other establishments. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and overall everything just felt thoughtful and well put together. read more

This was my first time inside Herands Kitchen. The location is convenient to my place in Garden Oaks. As soon as I stepped inside, the owner was super welcoming. The establishment is super clean and bright. After I placed my order, we spoke a little longer and he showed me around the restaurant. He was very hospitable and it made the experience that much better. I ordered my food to go and had the Beef Koubideh and the Baklava. He even threw in a delicious taziki. When I got home took it out of the box and plated the food. It was very deserving of real silverware and plates. Beautiful food, beautiful restaurant and beautiful customer service. I can't wait to try more dishes. Thank you Herand read more

I love this place and will definitely return. The first thing I noticed was how clean it was including the bathrooms. It was so nicely decorated and thoughtfully arranged. You order and pay at the counter. The service was excellent. The owner was friendly and so helpful. We really enjoyed the whole vibe of the place. The food was the star of the show, as it should be. We really liked the falafel and the hummus. The pita was delicious and warm. The Greek salad was so refreshing. Our orders were combined family style. We had boneless chicken and beef koobideh over Zereshk rice. It was delightful. I will definitely return. I think it would be great for lunch too. read more

Really enjoyed trying this new place out. We were served by the owner himself, which was neat. Very fresh and flavorful Mediterranean food. Chill atmosphere so need to dress up. Convenient location. The prices are a little steep for the portion sizes than what we are used to, but it's understandable given the area they're located in. Would definitely be back! read more

Happy Birthday to me! Such an amazing choice for my dinner. We were in and out in less than a hour with plenty of food. It was so good. Honestly not sure what my favorite part. The hummus was the perfect smoothness. The beef so tender. The veggies perfect pickle. Honestly before we even left I was texting couples about a double date there in the future. Simple menu but has all the options you need. Honestly really liked that it was served family style. Seemed to be good for groups or date night. Can't wait to see this place grow. Baklava was great too. Not overly sweet. read more

I made a long trip to this area yesterday and got to try this place, which I just discovered randomly. I ordered the Beef Kubideh Meal for dine-in. The meat was very robust in flavor and very delicious. It was wasn't mushy or filled with fake bread fillers like most Iranian kabob places in Houston seem to have. It tasted like real beef inside n out. It had a nice, unique, aromatic seasoning and charbroiled punch to it that I really appreciated in each bite as well. Most kabobs in Houston don't even have that charbroiled taste, which is essential like smokiness to bbq. The rice was very moist, fresh, fluffy and had little pieces of dried cranberry making it a very good, contrasting side with the meat. The tomatoes were soft, hot, charred and tasty. The cucumber n tomato salad that came with the entree was very good and refreshing like a Persian pico in a way. The service from the owner was very attentive, friendly and caring. I hope to make a trip here twice a year for the awesome food when I can. read more

Herand's is such a gem. Finally stopped to have lunch at this beautiful restaurant. Was greeted by Herand himself and the service was very attentive til we left. Tucked away and nestled inside The Heights neighborhood among the other homes makes this place very charming. You will walk into a very well clean and spotless establishmenr. Living in Chicago for 20 years I was looking forward to eating here and Herand did not disappoint. We started the Baba Ghanoush served with warm flat bread and it was so satisfying. I love baba Ghanoush and I very happy with this one. We also ordered the Beef Koubideh served over rice with roasted tomatoes, jalapeno and a side of salad Shirazi. The beef was so tender and flavorful and the rice was perfection. Everything on our plate was a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Everything was so fresh. I could eat like this every day. Also ask for a side of Tzatzki you will be happy you did. Don't skip desert. Have the Creme brulee and the baklava. Both are delicious. Herand's takes great pride in what he does and it shows from the minute you walk in, when you eat his delicious food and how spotless this establishment is. This will be another one of my go to spots. I can literally walk out my door and be at Herand's in 5 minutes just by walking. Lucky me. You must try. And I will be back most likely every week if not more. read more

He helped us choose our dishes and soon afterwards we were awarded with a delicious array of foods! I had to force myself to stop eating and get a to-go box for the rest. I'll definitely be back. I thought this place was so unique as soon as i stepped in. Everything was flavorful including the sides. Someone told us about this Persian place on the heights The place is nice You order at the cashier and a server brings food It was bit weird since place looked more classy but that was okay The killer was the food No taste and poor quality tbh Rice was not Persian rice that a Persian restaurant is known for The Persian salad was more like pico except peppers No taste Is almost like going to a Persian McDonalds but prices are not cheap I'm sorry, but if you want to sustain in business from repeated clients You must improve taste and quality fast I'm not sure I'll be back read more

This place is fantastic. Go here. Buy it all. The staff was amazing. The hospitality wonderful. And flavors were explosive.

Ordered delivery for the boneless chicken platter and was disappointed. First, the rice had no flavor. Fluffy yes, but was very bland. The vegetables that came with it were overcooked (black and burnt) and the cucumber salad had so seasoning (no salt, vinegar). The pita was bland, bit fluffy and stale. Finally the chicken was burnt. I thought maybe it was a bit crispy, but it had a complete burnt taste that overwhelms the entire food. The dish also came with no sauce that could elevate the dish. I know it's not included in the dish description, but cmon it would have helped the dish Very disappointed especially for the $22 pricing! Won't order from here again read more

A New Persian Spot in the Heights. But ... Missing the Soul There's a new Persian restaurant in the Heights, and that alone felt like something worth celebrating. For anyone from Houston, you know Persian food has long had its home base around Hillcroft. It's where our people go, where the kabob smoke hangs in the air. So seeing a new spot open closer to home -- in the Heights -- felt like a welcome surprise. As someone who lives nearby, I was genuinely excited. And as someone who's Persian, married to an American, I figured we made the perfect duo to test the place. So here's the short version: this place has potential, but it doesn't know what it wants to be. From the outside, the restaurant looks polished, the kind of place you'd expect to sit down, order a glass of wine, and settle in for a long dinner. But that expectation quickly disappears. The staff uniforms feel more fast-casual than fine dining, there's no table service, and the food, while okay, isn't hitting the mark for the price point. Let's talk about the menu. It's Persian, but it seems to have an identity crisis. One example: Mirzaghasemi is listed as "IKRA." Now, I'm all for creativity and rebranding -- but don't erase the culture bro! If it's a clever twist or a personal reference, share that. But renaming classic dishes without explanation just confuses people, Persians and non-Persians alike. And that confusion sums up the whole experience. If I could offer a few thoughts to the owner: * You don't need a huge menu. Narrow it down, focus on what you do best, and elevate it. * Raise the food quality and you can actually justify the upscale prices. Right now there's a mismatch. Great aspiration for this place can be Eyvl in NY: https://yelp.to/r17mkheT5i * Serve wine. Make your own bread. Packaged bread is a dealbreaker. And a Persian place without good bread and wine feels like a missed opportunity. * Where's the sarbazeh khordani? You know what I mean, the herbs, pickles, cheese, maybe a little walnut or watermelon if you're feeling seasonal. That's how we welcome people at the table. * Most importantly, bring the hospitality. Persian food isn't just about what's on the plate, it's the experience, the warmth, the generosity. That's what makes it memorable. Right now, this restaurant feels like it's caught between being modern and being authentic, and in trying to do both, it's not doing either convincingly. But the bones are good. The location is great. The opportunity is there. The Heights is ready for Persian food, but not just the name. We want the flavors, the details, the vibe, the story. The full experience. And honestly, it's about time someone brought that energy this way. So here's hoping they take the feedback and rise to it. read more
