This place was fun to hang out at! We arrived to meet friends around 10. My friends' boyfriend knows the owner so they frequent the joint. Apparently they have kareoke which is great. They played a variety of music and was such a vibe. Very loud so don't come here to catch up with friends or you'll be screaming at them. LOL. A spacious place with many tables and an area by the DJ to dance. We had dinner before coming here but I will come hungry next time to try their food! The one drink we had, our friends' boyfriend ordered it for us. No idea what it was but had pineapple with tajin on the rim and it was refreshing to me. Decided to check Gagootz out with a few of our friends for dinner and I'd have to say we will definitely be coming back. The owner Eduardo was very friendly and helpful. It was great to see how excited he was for us to try their food when we were ordering with him at the bar. We couldn't decide on what to get (since everything sounded good) so we pretty much ordered half of the menu. We ordered a Gagootz burger, wings, spicy seafood pasta, pastor and fish tacos, a shrimp tostada and their Michelada (I initially wasn't going to drink tonight, but tried my friend's and had to order one for myself) The food came out fairly quickly and everything that we ordered was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised at the how good the pasta dish was and came to learn Eduardo and his dad had many years of experience working at an Italian restaurant prior to opening Gagootz (hence the sprinkle of Italian items on their menu) Overall, we all enjoyed the food, atmosphere and hospitality that Eduardo provided and will be recommending Gagootz to the rest of our friends. read more

I'm gazoot for Gagootz!! I had the distinct pleasure of going to this down-to-earth, relaxing, Italian and Mexican restaurant/bar recently. What a find! On my first visit, I got to meet Eduardo (the restaurant owner and manager) where I got to learn about his family lineage of Italians who have a proven track record of running a successful Italian restaurant business in Katy for over the past 30+ years. Eduardo is a professional who takes pride in everything that he sets out to do. He is courteous and unmistakably thoughtful/kind. He is also quite the conversationalist. There is no doubt that Eduardo is creating something very special at Gagootz! If you happen to be looking for an eclectic and enjoyable dining/drink spot, look no further than Gagootz. The interior decor is super interesting! A few examples are a vintage European painting, a Frida Kahlo masterpiece, an actual Julius Caesar statue head, and even an old photograph and quote on the wall from Al Capone himself! Gagootz will CERTAINLY be giving the Monkey's Tail (located just kitty corner across the street on Fulton St.) a run for its money. Aside from the outstanding customer service, I cannot emphasize enough how amazing the food quality is here. The items that Eduardo and his chef prepare in their kitchen is magical (no kidding!). This is one of the top reasons that I feel makes Gagootz a standout in this part of Houston. In addition to a diverse food menu, Gagootz also offers an extensive drink menu that ensures that there will always be something for everyone. Oh, and for those who have a slightly more spicy taste palette in the food department? I welcome you to Gagootz! Although the place is currently in its infancy, developments and improvements are quickly being made! The addition of a new TV makes catching sports affairs an easy task. I came in after a long day and decided to sit at the bar to eat and read and the lovely gentleman that was bartending informed me about their steak night I am definitely not a steak girly but I decided why not and I was pleasantly surprised! This was one of the spots we liked to visit until this past Friday 9/5. The female bartender was very rude to us. We usually have the guys help who are always really nice but this time it was her & she was not pleasant at all..Our main issue was the fact that she was STEALING from us. Charged us 3 different prices for a crown.. 1st time $14 for a crown & $14 for a jack. 2nd time $12 for a crown.. 3rd time $10, gave her a $20 and she decided to put the change in her tip jar, when I asked her for my change she went and pulled it out of her tip jar and handed me $9. Idc if it's $1, $2, $3. DONT OVER CHARGE PEOPLE for a tip. DONT steal from customers. If your establishment is not producing the tips you would like then I suggest they add an automatic grat & advise customers of that but to sit there and charge me 3 different prices and think it's okay is crazy. The owners need to reevaluate some of their staff. Someone who does this in YOUR business doesn't care if people come back or not, they care for the money to be made that night. Which is going to make you lose customers in the long run as nobody likes to be stolen from. We really liked coming here but I won't go somewhere where a staff member is rude to my myself & my friends and on top of that is stealing from us to keep the difference for a tip. Sometimes you just need a place to decompress after a long day or simply to get out of daily routines. On these days, I come here to Gagootz, especially now that they've added a steak night. As a latina, I appreciate the atmosphere with the Spanish music in the background. As I'm enjoying my steak or wings, I'm rocking to the various genres of music, which takes me back to a time of youth. But, dont me twisted, i can also rock to some of the more current music. DJ is se up on Thursdays so be ready to rock or request. Now, about the food. I LOVE a good ribeye steak - you know, the kind with a little char, juice and falvor. Each time I've come, that's what I get. They are pretty consistent with the food. The bartender is amazing. I walked in today and he remembered my drink. He checked up on me often so it was nice sitting at the bar. This place is located in my stomping grounds and I'm glad they are here. Parking is a little challenging but I don't mind or I simply Uber. There is some outdoor sitting if you enjoy Houston's bold weather .
