Wow. Just wow. Please get the prime rib. It's the best prime rib I've ever had. We got the 20oz with a side of mash potatoes and everything was just perfect. From the horse radish, to the gravy, to everything about it. We also got the lunch special fish of the day which happened to be red fish and don't get me wrong. It was delicious too. We got a brown butter sauce which I enjoyed a lot but I couldn't stop eating the prime rib. Service was good too. Brought my wife last night to try for the first time. Wife had the Chicken Parmigiana and it was great. Chicken was moist and the breading was just right. I had the Carne Asada A La Tana. The Carne Asada was cooked to perfection, was tender and had an amazing flavor. The cheese, caramelized pinions and the peppers made it all a nice blend of flavors. They have a menu for everyone and if everything is as good as what we had, one cannot go wrong. The staff is great too, our waiter (Milton) was great. He was friendly, tentative and helpful. I'm from Houston and have passed Laurenzo's often but recently, I dined there for the first time! It was the week of the Christmas holiday and we made a reservation for six. The restaurant was full and yet the service made it seem like it was just us there! The menu offers something for everyone! From seafood to Tex - Mex, to steak, there are a variety of options! I ordered the redfish Pontchartrain and a blood orange margarita. The redfish was delicious and rich. The margarita had the right amount of punch and flavor. Someone in my group ordered the prime rib, greens salad, and as an appetizer, the crab fingers. All were delicious! We finally dined at Laurenzo's thanks to someone gifting us some giftcards for this place. We went on a whim on a Thursday night for dinner in late October as we didn't feel like cooking and I was in the mood for prime rib which is what they are known for. I didn't have a resy but we got a seat at the booth and were served a complimentary bread basket and waters while we ordered a bottle of the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. It's one of my favorite Pinot Noirs and while it's pricy at $62 compared to buying it from Costco/Spec's, I figured were dining out and it's a special occasion. Besides I have giftcards! We sipped on that and then our entrees arrived which were the italian sausage ravioli for her and of course, the 16oz prime rib for me with a baked potato. We also ordered a side of broccolini cause we need vegetables! Both of our entrees were quite large and we had leftovers to take home. The girlfriend enjoyed the ravioli and sauce with the melted mozzarella as the ravioli had nice filling. The prime rib was quite large and very flavorful; got mine blackened and they delivered. The broccolini came sauteed in olive oil, garlic slices, and parmesan; went well with our entrees. All in all, we were very satisfied and impressed with our meal. The menu has a variety of items so you can get typical steaks/prime rib, italian dishes/pastas, seafood plates, mexican-style meals, pizza, sandwiches, etc. It's got something for everyone and can satisfy groups/dates with different cuisine preferences. I heard their desserts are pretty solid such as the NY cheesecake and Italian cream cake. I'll definitely have to try those on my next visit. No doubt we'll be back here again for dinner. I haven't been here for 12 years, and the meat was just as good as I remember! I started with a wedge salad, but they brought me a beet salad. Great mistake because the salad was delicious! The beets were full of flavor and the candied nuts and cheese paired well! I've been craving a French Dip for weeks, so that's exactly what I ordered. So moist. So juicy. So flavorful. All around just perfect! I was reluctant to order it with the cheese as cheese usually overpowers a good French Dip. This was a perfect mix. Not enough cheese to dominate the flavor, but just enough to give it an extra profile. And the bread was great as well! The Au Jus was pretty standard. Pretty much neutral for me. I might ask for some horseradish next time. For my side I choose grits. I unfortunately regretted that. I couldn't quite put my finger on what I didn't like about them. They were extremely creamy in a buttery way. Kind of like that mix of too much sour cream and butter in a baked potato. Regardless, it didn't spoil my meal. I'll just pick a different side next time. I love the ambiance of this place. It has that old steak house vibe like where you would expect to see Buggys Seal or Al Capone. Dark colors and dim lighting, so perfect for a romantic date night. Sports memorabilia adore the walls, adding a little extra character. Large parking lot, so parking isn't an issue. They have a Thursday night special, so you may want to come then if it's your first time trying them out. A little pricey, but worth it. Walking into Laurenzo's, one gets transported back a few decades-- the old time feel with red booths, brass chandeliers, and sports memorabilia scattered throughout the restaurant definitely gives off a vibe. We came Valentine's weekend, and they scattered rose petals at each table and along the floors. The menu is quite extensive, but they're known for their prime rib! The prime rib sandwich with its tender slices of beef was a winner for us. The broccolini we chose as the side was nicely cooked and tasted great with the cheese sprinkled on top. The sea bass from the daily special came topped with tasty bruschetta/vinegar tomatoes pieces which contrasted well with all the butter used to cook the fish. The sea bass itself wasn't melty or oily; it was firm, plump, and meaty. It was parked with some mashed potatoes (meh) and nicely cooked asparagus. The Ahi tuna salad came with long strips of seared tuna and a sweet Thai peanut dressing + honey lime vinaigrette. Without dressing, the beautifully ruby red tuna is pretty tasteless... but I appreciated how much tuna they served, the strips of mango, and thick wedges of avocado in the salad! To finish off, we got the layered chocolate cake, which came as a half moon (half a 6 inch cake) and vanilla ice cream. The strawberry sauce on the bottom tasted pretty artificial to me-- didn't like that at all, and the cake itself and the ice cream were very much just okay. It would hit the spot if one was craving some cake but there wasn't anything too special... we went somewhere else after for dessert! Service was overall friendly and nice although a bit slow. But when we answered "water" for drink orders, we got the usual half eye-roll/sigh from the waiter which didn't start things off very well. He was also very busy split amongst the tables, but other staff came to check up on us. Paying the check took half an hour but they did let us use a gift certificate, so I'm happy with that! Overall, it was fun to try a Houston establishment for something different. To us, their food was okay (with the prime rib sandwich being the standout) and pretty pricey for what it was. I can see the appeal of bringing the kids since their menu has so much variety and for those who love the old-timey feel, but I'll likely choose their sister restaurant over Laurenzo's! There's plenty of parking split between their 2 lots (one's a lot bigger than the other), and you can follow your nose (and the signs) to the entrance! Indoor and patio seating are available. If you get cold easily, bring a jacket! Their A/C is Houston strong. read more

Waiter told me some condiments were on the side of the dish. Not true. A small container of chilli was on the side. Tasted like canned hormel chilli. Yuck! My husband ordered the shrimp poboy Same as mine with two sides. $24.00 His had lettuce, tomato and pickles on it. Who puts that on a poboy? He took all that crap off and there were 4 shrimp on it. So... First of all I walked in and the host looks pretty annoyed that I even came inside. Lol. It kind of set the atmosphere of how my time here would go. I literally sat there for minutes upon minutes looking around wondering who was going to serve me... or even acknowledge my presence. I was waiting and then saw the manager locked eyes with him and still no budge. He made no hustle or fuss about me waiting there for minutes on end. After a visible sigh, he came to my table with no apologies and no acknowledgment and asked me how I'm doing. I said well, I'm a little bit better now that someone finally realized that I'm sitting here. He kind of scoffed and the one about asking me what do I want to drink. He was very tight face and stern and I'm actually quite stupified at the level of service here, or lack thereof. Yikes. Then I ordered the half rack of ribs and they brought out a whole rack. I said wow this is big This is a half rack. They said yes. Then they said let me go check. Then it turns out it really was a whole rack. Typically, in any restaurant with etiquette, they know that you're not supposed to take back food that has been served. Especially meat. You're supposed to just let the customer have it. No, the manager took my plate... You know, further making me wait for what I ordered, took it to the back to have it cut, then brought me back my ribs. I'm honestly so over everything. (Ribs weren't seasoned assist from the gunk of sauce they dumped on top. Mashed potatoes and gravy were unseasoned as well) Now, after eating, I'm just sitting here looking around trying to flag somebody to get my bill because I have a meeting in 15 minutes. Love love love this place! About a year ago, we decided to eat here, and my only regret is I wish we had gone sooner! It's just that good. The service is EXCELLENT and the food is FABULOUS. Today we brought out of town guest with us and they loved it! The menu is so diverse, there is something for everyone. From steaks, salads, pizza, seafood, burgers, they have it all. And when you arrive to your table, they bring you a warm bread plate that is so delicious, you'll have to be careful not to over indulge! It's so good. The atmosphere is very warm and classy, (think nice steakhouse) with a touch of old school bar plus sports memorabilia. Everything we've ever gotten to eat here is so delicious. I'll be generous and give this place a three. On the way in and way out some colored girl at the door is trying to hit us up for money for foster kids! Not Joking! The NCAA tournament was on and the bartender has it on one TV on the end, but has Harry Potter and Golf on the other two! Too many trashy people who don't belong in a fine dining type place were in there. The overpriced food and drinks were average at best. On Sunday Jan 18th I met several friends at Laurenzo's Restaurant on Washington. I had the French toast which was amazing as usual. During the course of my visit I let two employees know that there was a big red truck parked in the handicapped parking without handicapped plates or a placard. I notice these things because I have a number of friends in wheelchairs. One of the employees told me it was ok because that was "the owners wife and she can do whatever she wants." I said she should not be allowed to do whatever she wants. In fact, what she did is illegal. One of my friends is handicapped and has the plates and this was her husbands first outing after having open heart surgery. Upon leaving I discovered they had parked on the far side of the parking lot because there were no handicapped spaces available! (See big red truck mentioned above) This same truck was proudly displaying a Trump/Vance sticker in the window, no surprise considering the circumstances. Apparently you want everyone to know that, like trump/vance you think you're above the law and do not care about people. Restaurant owners should know better than to display political signs of any kind, but of course they also shouldn't so blatantly break the law and show their customers that they couldn't care less about their health, disabilities or inconvenience. Our experience at the restaurant was as nice as always, the waiters are always great but what happened today was extremely appalling. I was planning to introduce a couple of new friends to Laurenzo's soon but after discussing the situation there are 15 of us that frequent Laurenzo's, El Tiempo & Ninfa's who have decided to never return to any of your family of restaurants. Although we're frequent customers I'm sure you won't notice the loss of 15 individuals so each of us plan to spread the word as far as we can so that people know of this disgusting behavior. There are far too many restaurants in Houston to visit a place that has such little regard for humanity. Classic and inviting setting with laid back but attentive staff. Not a pretentious steakhouse but still had a lot of character. Ordered a prime rib which came out perfectly medium rare as specified with creamy horseradish, a healthy amount of tasty au jus, and a baked potato with toppings on the side. The edge-to-edge medium rare was delightful and the cut seemed larger than the 12oz as ordered. Best of all the deckle/cap was sizable. All in all a delightful experience. read more

It is Saturday night, 30 August, and I am seated at the Bar. I choose to sit at the very end so I have some space when the Bar gets busy. Unfortunately, 2 guests, who had apparently been previously over-served chose to sit next to me. I endured unnecessary harassment from the younger of the 2 guests & the "manager" was totally ineffective in defusing the situation. So, beware if you go to Laurenzo's at night, they can be quite lax on the behavior they accept from over-served customers. read more

The aesthetic is everything here. Not many places can pull off the 70's/80's intimacy that Laurenzo's does. Wood panel walls and sports memorabilia welcome you here every visit. Old school classy. Menu options range from Italian, Mexican, and Classic American. But the star here is the Prime Rib. Comes in multiple oz options to suit your hunger, and is probably the only place in Houston I'd order a prime rib. It is cooked perfectly and comes dressed with horseradish and the au jus drippings. The crust is salty delicious and the meat has just the right amount of chew. Not much else stands out here. I've been told the artichoke dip here is one of the best around, but when I ordered it is was just ok. Get the prime rib or get disappointed is how it goes for me. read more

Today we went to Laurenzo's for Thanksgiving, which we do every year for the holiday. We also frequent Laurenzo's for the best steak and prime rib.  And for the first time our meal today was very disappointing.  My wife had the prime rib and I had the ribeye. Both of our steaks were tough, stringy, fatty, chewy, and difficult to cut.  This is unusual as the meat at Laurenzo's is always very tender, juicy, and delicious.  It is why we frequent the restaurant.  Our service was excellent...as always.  We would have sent our meals back but it was the holiday, very crowded, and they were extremely busy, so we decided to tough it out (no pun intended), but we did speak to our server and the service manager about the quality of their meat. Lesser steak restaurants purchase lower quality meats and serve a tougher steak so you get what you pay for and expect less, but Laurenzo's is a superior restaurant that prides itself on the quality of it's meals and it's service. It has a reputation of  purchasing a higher quality of USDA Prime beef to serve to their customers.  As noted above, this was the worst beef we have ever been served at Laurenzo's and though we will continue to frequent their restaurant we will stop dining at their location if we receive another substandard steak dinner.  Our service was excellent, our server and service manager were very apologetic and did not make any excuses.  The restaurant did comp our Irish coffees and we were very grateful though we did offer to pay for them.  We are anxious for our next visit and very hopeful that this was an isolated incident as we throughly enjoy the restaurant, the staff, the food, and the experience. read more

Finding Italian food in Houston has become just a bit easier after today. I was invited to dinner and walked into the most adorable Christmas decorated family restaurant. You walk in and automatically feel welcomed. The staff all make sure they are attentive and welcoming. The table bread was warm and soft with the best whipped butter I've had in a minute. They have so many options to choose from and are able to accomodate some a la carte tastes!!! I love Alio olio ... I think that's how you write it and I got my fix. We came here for the first time and were blown away by the service and food. Shot out to Oscar! The meal started off with a bread service. They have happy hour from 11 AM-7 PM so we got some margaritas to start dinner. We ordered the crab cakes (2) as an appetizer and it was so good! They crab cakes were big and full of jumbo lump crab meat. It was served with a hollandaise sauce on the side. For the entrees, we both got the prime rib with a baked potato, fully loaded. It was phenomenal! The prime rib was perfectly cooked. It came with au jus, horseradish cream and horseradish. We were so stuffed after that meal, but it was so worth the calories. Came here for Easter brunch this year and had a great experience. The service and the atmosphere were excellent. Kind of gave the vibe of an old school Italian steakhouse with a much better menu. For appetizers we started off with the grilled artichokes and fried oysters. Both were a good size and were super tasty. For entrees I got the 12 oz prime rib with mashed potatoes and Italian wedding soup and my gf ordered the lemon butter fish with rice and clam chowder. The Italian wedding soup was the highlight for me. The Prime Rib was pretty decent and better than most I've found in the area. My girlfriend loved her fish. She wants to come back to Laurenzos just for that fish. We ordered the little one a kids hot dog which was an impressive size for a kids meal.
