This place is one of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in Houston. I liked their interior design and food. I've been here for dinner before which never disappointed me. This time we went with bunch of girlfriends for brunch which as always was amazing. I ordered breakfast tacos that came with potatoes and beans as sides. I truly enjoyed this meal. Also their service was good we asked one of the staff to take a photo of our group and she changed the design of the restaurant to make sure our picture is what we wanted. My tamale meat was so dry, it fell about like crumble and my refried beans were dang near cold and hard like they're days old and hardly had flavor. Only thing I enjoyed was my chips. Came here with four friends for a Sunday lunch, and even though it wasn't busy, the service was slow and a bit scattered. Our server was swapped without explanation. We took a little time deciding what to order because the menu was huge, and I wasn't expecting a brunch section with that many options. But once we ordered, things got confusing. We asked for shrimp quesadillas multiple times, but beef ones came out instead. We were too hungry to send them back, and thankfully the portion was generous enough to share. The ceviche with lump crab was way too acidic and didn't have much flavor, but everyone who ordered the chicken and waffles really liked their meal. I got the salmon, which came with three large shrimp, glazed Brussels sprouts, and Cajun spinach. The sprouts were solid, the spinach was sautéed but not really flavorful, and the salmon was cooked to the perfect level of juiciness, though overall the glaze tasted salty. Our server did tell us about the 99¢ brunch mimosas. They weren't listed anywhere on the menu, so I was glad she mentioned it. I'll probably come back just for that deal, especially on another slow Sunday with friends. All in all, it was A-ok, but what dampened it most was the inattentiveness of our waitress. I could better understand if the place was busy. My friend's sangria sat at the bar for a while, and we had to keep asking for basic things like water refills, our checks and to go boxes. I really enjoyed Anayas. The sever was excellent - prompt, attentive, and friendly. We started with their tortilla chips (light and crisp) and salsa which tasted really fresh. And we added a generous cup of queso. I also had the ceviche which was outstanding with fish, shrimp, and scallops in lime juice with just the right amount of red onion and cilantro. For the main course I had beef tacos al carbon and my wife had chicken fajitas al carbon which were both very good. The restaurant is nicely, if simply, decorated. Took a chance & came to see what this place is like and I must say it was sooo delicious! Our server Jazz helped us with the menu since it was our first visit. We ordered fresh guacamole which was so good as she prepared it at our table. It was soo yummy! The bottomless chips made it too easy to enjoy the salsa, queso & guacamole! I ordered the Cyclone combo Summer special that was very tasty and filling. My other family member ordered cyclone tacos. Each dish so full of flavor and fresh. An amazing experience! Food was 10/10 for the most part. The flautas were delicious and crispy which was rare because most flautas I have are soggy with a little crispy but not these! Not going to lie the side dishes were not the best in my opinion, both the Brussels sprouts, rice beans and spinach there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of lack of flavor and texture . The spinach was very soggy and kinda inedible. Everything else was really good. The service was good she was there every time we needed her but not hovering over us. Okay so the fish tacos were pretty good but i feel like they were missing some flavor from the fish and batter itself. Most of the flavor came from the veggies on top so I had to put some cilantro lime sauce on top which made them good. The salsa that came with the chips were really good smoky kinda spicy and chunky. The tacos also carbon my boyfriend got were very greasy, but the meat was pretty dry, had no flavor. The rice was not fully cooked was still hard and they came out cold. The spinach that came with my dish I initially thought were good but after a few bites found it to be very salty. Now the bolillos were good kinda reminded me on beignets lmao. So confused about these other 5 start reviews... unless you're not well cultured or well traveled. Not sure if those reviews are from there grand opening or something but the overall experience is not a 5 star experience. Right off the bat you can tell that corporate is really trying to make sure waiters are upholding high standards but they're SUPER rough around the edges. I do give the waiters props for really trying to be professional but they do seem scattered or nervous almost? Food is EXTREMELY bland. The rice tastes fake like as if was frozen and just heated up. The charro beans also tasted fake as well. Or waiter messed up my order and got me the wrong sauce on my enchiladas and tried to argue with me saying it was what I asked for when she almost messed up my husbands order saying it back to him when we first ordered. Our waiter was overall extremely polite & professional but lacked personality and just seemed worried about not making a mistake. However, we had ordered two sprites that came back super flat. They said they couldn't fix it since they would have to call the soda company to come in and add more into the soda machine so they said we can get something else. We then ordered two lemonades to be made fresh from the bar and the bartender was so scared she took almost 15 mins to just make a lemonade... our waiter said the first time she tried to make it that it was too bitter. I didn't ask for a special cocktail just a simple lemonade. I would not recommend this restaurant at all due to the lack of blandness in the food & the weird awkward service. We had a pretty large group get together, in the middle of a rain storm no less, and this restaurant handled it swimmingly. There were winds and a brief power outage and as mentioned, rain, but through it all the service was impeccable. The space was large and tastefully decorated, with a bar area and a main dining area. There was also a glass barrier behind which the kitchen was visible. For a place that was so busy, the service was extremely fast and caring. Our server was extremely attentive and amiable and we never had an empty glass at any moment. If we needed something, someone was alway ready to help. And the food. It was amazinggggg! I have been in search of perfect empanadas for a long while- and these were pretty darn close! The chicken empanadas (listed as a starter, but substantial enough to make a main dish) had a golden crispy shell and a luscious rich filling. The echilada combo plate was also very tasty, the cheesy sauces complementing the stronger meat flavors. My neighbors and I stopped by for happy hour when Cyclone first opened, and another time for lunch and both experiences were a 3.5/4 star experience. Both times we went, I got tableside guacamole & chips, and veggie fajita platter. Both servings were quite large so you'll be well fed if you get both. I don't drink so I can't comment on the drinks but they have some great happy hour deals and my friends raved about the margaritas. The food was below average. I ordered what I thought was going to be the chopped salad and I ordered a vinaigrette and asked specifically if the salad would be tossed with dressing. I was told it would be and when it arrived after a long wait, it was dry and no dressing came with it. It ends up, it was the wrong salad. The margarita came in a plastic cup and was the worst my mother ever had. She asked if they could turn the music down and the Assistant Manager told us "we can't. It's Cinco." We ordered the huge family platter fajitas - LOBSTER/ shrimp/ chicken/ beef/ spicy pork sausage all on the platter cooked to perfection ( maybe the lobster was over cooked but still delicious.) How in the world am I supposed to eat fajitas with diced meat when clearly I was supposed to receive strips of meat? This looks like a kids plate, meat was barely there for what I paid for, this was about $35 already. This is so laughable. The tortilla and corn was all dried up like a rock. This location is relatively new, and it is a great addition to the neighborhood. The restaurant is big and has a small outdoor seating area. Once seated, my table was given a complimentary bowl of chips with salsa. Aside from the regular lunch menu, brunch menu is available on the weekends from 11am to 3pm. I ordered the ahi tuna tacos with the tamarind glazed brussel sprouts and refried black beans as sides. My tacos were amazing. The soft tacos were nicely done, and the vegetables and tuna were fresh. The sauce on the tacos was amazing too. I highly recommend the Brussel sprouts. They were insanely good. When in a Tex-Mex restaurant, it is a must to have a glass of margarita. I got The Super Cyclone on the rocks which had the right balance of flavors. My party received excellent service today. Our server, Rafa, checked on us periodically and he was so kind to let my party of four to split checks. My party had a great dining experience. I'm sure I will be back. Excellent service throughout my Monday night solo dining experience from the hostess, Star, greeting and seating me promptly, the server's quick acknowledgement to the manager's post meal check in. I was craving some chicken flautas and decided to dine in instead of doing takeout. I told myself I was going to skip an adult beverage, but this warm and inviting atmosphere supports complimenting the meal with one. Lol. I am so happy they opened this location down the street from my home. Cyclone Anayas has my favorite salsa. Even though it has a slightly tart flavor, I just drink it. We went on their first day of business. Staff outnumbered tables and they were working out some kinks. The food was on point. I had beef enchiladas which were exactly what I wanted and expected. The food and service here is amazing. I had beef fajita al carbon which came with delicious Mexican rice, grilled veggies, a platter of sour cream, cheese, and tomato. It came sizzling hot and with a small cup of melted butter to drizzle on the fajitas. The meat was cooked perfectly and the portions were huge. I had to take my food home for later. The chips they had set out as an appetizer were hot and fresh and I quite liked the salsa too. I also got a margarita, the jumbo size is a bit too large for me. I tried the spicy strawberry and it was a tiny bit spicy but not that much. I quite enjoyed it. The margaritas here at cyclone are always to die for :). Accidentally found this restaurant on 365 Houston. The door was opened by the most welcoming gentleman. The environment was warm and inviting. Before I could put on my glasses to read the menu my waiter appeared with a smile. The wait for my meal was so quick. The rice was fluffy as I prefer. This is Cyclone Anayas' newest location in the River Oaks area. Came here on a Saturday for lunch bright and early around noon and the place was relatively quiet. I'm guessing people may be in the same boat as me in that I had no idea they had a pretty nice looking brunch menu. Parking was either valet or self park. I walked in to a beautifully decorated space that had an open concept. There was what looked like one or two side rooms for private events. Rafa was our waiter for the day and he did an amazing job from start to finish. He knew his menu and have excellent recommendations as well. I have been to a few of their other locations and knew I was going to get a great meal. First off, the complimentary chips and salsa is really good. They are not afraid to season their chips which is a plus in my book. Serve it as intended. Like mentioned before, the brunch menu looked good, but I had my mind on something less breakfasty. As far as food goes, they have all your typical Tex-Mex fare like tacos, enchiladas, fajitas and all that other good stuff. The menu is quite extensive. The enchiladas were calling out to me so I went with the Enchilada Trio so I can get a little taste of their different enchiladas. It came with a chicken, beef and cheese enchilada, with a choice of two sides. I like they give the options to choose your side even though I still went with rice and beans as my side. Our food came out quick and was piping hot. That first bite of the cheese enchilada was wonderful, but then the following bites of beef and chicken were too. In the end, I really loved the simple but delicious cheese enchilada the most. The rice and beans were also very tasty. I washed it all down with a nice and refreshing Pineapple Smash which is one of their margarita choices. I have yet to have a bad experience at any of the Cyclone Anayas which means I will very likely come back. Highly recommend! read more

Came in on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Were greeted right away and seated in a booth. This location has been opened not too long, was my first time visiting this. It seems a bit more upscale compared to other cyclones, not saying fancy, but just a cleaner aesthetic. The bar area faces Westheimer and has some cool over head lighting, would be a great spot to sit at a bar. Plenty of free parking. Our waiter, Milton, was great. He had our food in his hands before they even hit the shelves in the kitchen (you can see the kitchen as they have it glassed off from the tables). He was quick and efficient throughout our whole visit. Food: Chilaquiles- not recommended. One of my favorite breakfast foods so was curious to try it. They chips were the second they hit our table (understand if they were in the sauce a while but they weren't). Also the salsa just wasn't for me, it was okay but I've had better. You do get a lot but just not worth it. Nachos- Chicken nachos always hit the spot at Cyclone. Half portion is still a good side and they are individually presented (not just a mound of nachos). Fajitas- Combo, Medium size. They don't lie, the medium size is barely shareable for two people. The meat was good and well seasoned.
