straight to the point tex-mex. the tex-mex basics is really all we need in life. the staff seemed liked they just were unhappy, which is sad. but the food was good, despite everyones sad faces. the layout of the restaurant is very strange and doesn't follow a natural energy layout.. and its pretty dark in there, even during the day. i would definitely recommend sitting outside. do not order the happy hour margaritas... they are too sour. but other than that tiny complaint, i would definitely recommend visiting or ordering takeout. bonné appétit c.

Great lunch spot for the family/friends if you're hungry coming back or going to the park! It was a beautiful day so we ate outside in the patio. My fish taco combo plate was delicious. Avocado slices on top are a must. The fish was grilled perfectly. The only thing I disliked were the prices- $15 for my taco plate! Eek. This is why I hardly eat out. Otherwise if you're in the area, I would recommend this place if you're craving good Mexican food.

We loved the fajitas with corn tacos and the fish tacos! Great to share. You order at the counter, get a number and seat yourself. Generous portions, hearty, and a college student favorite with beers and jugs of margarita!

I was introduced to this location by a bike group and this is often their pit stop. I had a chance this week to stop by again and I always order the Chicken Enchilada plate. This time I tried the Cadillac Margarita with a top shelf tequila of your choice. Parking is not great, but they do have a parking garage. I recommend parking on the street. They make your food in front of you, which is always great. The portions are generous as you can see! They are located in a medical area near the museums. Service has always been great, it's fast and they accommodate any adjustments that you want to make to your order.

Great food at great prices! I am glad only one of us ordered the plate because it would have been too much food. We got chips and queso. Crunchy chips made in house. I ordered a quesadilla plate with grilled veggies and I had them add pico de gallo inside. It is served with a side of refried black beans and rice. He ordered a chicken Tinga taco and they asked do you want the plate. I am glad he only got a single taco because we had leftover. All for $22 before a small tip.

Great spot to hang out with a very large group of friends! It can be very hard to coordinate last minute gatherings and Bodegas made it easy! The service was timely, the food was tasty and the interior was lovely and clean. I liked the ceiling lights that reminded me of the holidays! We were allowed to sit and eat and we're never rushed or hurried to finish and make room. Their takeout is equally good! I loved the taco bowl, though it was a bit difficult to eat at times. The fillings were really tasty as were the desserts. A good spout when you're craving Tex-Mex!

Needed a place to eat lunch before heading to Children's Museum and this place was super close. Walked up, ordered, and the food came out quickly. I ordered the chips and queso as an app and they were both delicious. As my meal I ordered the appetizer street tacos, which were just ok. The rice and beans were a small portion...and not just on my plate. The flavoring of the meat was also just ok. My friend's son ordered the chicken tenders and fries and really liked them. My friend ordered the pork plate and cleared his plate. If you're in the museum district and looking for a place to go, this is an ok spot.

This is the unofficial after-walk restaurant for one of my walking groups so I finally decided to go there after today's walk. Well, I tried to come here a few weeks ago but they were closed for their private holiday party. The place next door is also owned by the same people so if some of your party wants tacos and the other wants pizza, you can order at both places and they won't care. I hadn't had fajitas for a while so I got the mixed platter (or was it Combo?). Other than the cuts of meats being almost perfectly the same size, there wasn't anything remarkable about it good or bad. The salsa wasn't that good to be honest, but the cuts of meat were lean and cooked well but again, there wasn't anything too remarkable about the flavor. Since I'm watching my carbs, I was a little worried that I'd get a whole lot of rice and beans but they came in little plastic containers that you'd usually put salsa in so while that was good for me, for the price they charged, it seemed like they were kind of skimping. On one hand I was glad that I wasn't going to over-eat my carbs but on the other hand, it didn't seem like I was really getting a great value since if you go to a regular Tex-Mex place, they'd easily give you triple the rice and the beans and also bring you free chips and salsa. Then again, a lot of the people who stop by here are probably visiting the museums, Hermann Park, or perhaps are an unfortunate soul who has a loved one at the hospital across the street so there is a premium for this location. So overall, if you're out and about in that area and want to get something to eat, they're decent enough but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. Next time though I'll try the fish tacos since I heard it was good.

I ordered my food in the car on the way to the Motown revue. the food was fresh and being made as I was walking in. The staff was very friendly and the casual environment made me comfortable to bring my folding chair inside as I was headed to the show. The salsa is definitely caliente but I love that and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. I had more than enough food and the charro beans and rice were a great addition. Thanks fir being a delicious mirage otw to the pavilion.

I've passed by this place many times when leaving the park and always wanted to check it out. So this day I was at the building it was in and decided to get a breakfast taco. When I went in there were people in line like cafeteria style. They were telling the server exactly what they wanted on their tacos and the servers were moving fast. So I picked a flour tortilla with refried beans, eggs, and brisket. The second one was without the meat. Those tacos were SO yummy!! I will definitely be back for more! I also got their mango & pineapple lemonade and it was so good and refreshing!

    Beef fajita taco
    Christina M.

So we picked up some tacos for lunch. They all had rice and beans and an array of tacos. These tacos were bland, looked like the beef fajita meat had been boiled then seasoned. The refried beans were like a soup. We weren't expecting this because of the long line and good reviews but this was a huge letdown. We won't be back unfortunately. This is not the standard for a Houston taco shop. I'm sorry I'm leaving this review bc I hate to do this to a business but the food quality has to improve

    #10 Fajitas
    Rachel S.

For the price, I'd say this place is just ok. The fajitas were a bit skimpy and I was a bit sad about the lack of rice. Beans were weirdly gooey and I found that quite offputting. parking in this area is difficult. The flan dessert was good though-- very creamy and sweet. This is the first restaurant that I've gone to where the chicken melts in your mouth--made me wish I'd gotten chicken fajitas instead of steak!

Happy Cinco De Mayo! Met the ladies here to celebrate, & break bread…read more Thank you Jamila for selecting this original location of the Original Ninfas, to host, (our last supper, before your relocation from Houston to Florida.). A place I grew up in as a little girl in Beaumont but never have I've visit this "original" location. Stepping in to this spot felt like a restaurant in the country of Mexico. I ordered the El Henry. I absolutely loved my dish, only thing I would've chance was the cheese enchilada definitely would've swap for a chicken or beef one, or maybe even a flaunta. I really like the Mexican rice, it had little potatoes and carrots in it. Some of the best Mexican yellow rice I've had. They offer a cinco de mayo drink special. The only thing that seem to make it special was the drinks apparently were limited edition menu items. Nothing was special about the prices. The regular menu drinks were a dollar(s) less. The margarita I ordered first was peach coconut. I didn't taste the coconut at all. I swap for the peach strawberry ($14 or 15) which was great, sweet& strong. One did me just right. You get to select up to two flavors for additional $2 (for both verse each, that's a plus. Not worded on menu). If you select a third flavor an additional $2 would be added ($4 in total) I appreciate separate tickets provided after confirmation and no additional gratuity automatically added, which he got tip equally the same or more. When asked about the "empty" patio that was available, he informed us that the entire deck was reserved. Upon departing I noticed from the parking lot individual tables, of separate parties were occupying only 3 tables. It was 8 of us sitting at 2 tables. Which the table was pushed up against the wall, and one side was inaccessible, which took away spacing. Service was lovely space was really tight. Good thing some of the ladies didn't order full meals. Definitely wouldn't have been able to fit every plate.

I prefer traditional homemade Mexican food but here we are. (Oh I googled and suggested this place lol) Went in for a team lunch on a Friday. Coworker's birthday lunch and she wanted Mexican. Party of 9 and we were seated promptly. They have a lunch menu and a happy hour as well as a full menu and full bar. The interior was nicely decorated. And open. There is bar seating and patio seating as well. Our waitress was Aisha and she was amazing. Friendly, helpful and patient. And able handle our large group and a few more tables with a smile. There were a variety of options. Salads, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, etc. Also complimentary chips and salsa. My Order: chicken tortilla soup, lunch fajitas combo - chicken and beef. Chicken tortilla soup (3.5/5) - it was a bit salty for me but I am not a salt person so most things are salty to me; everyone else said it was tasty, there were tons of shredded chicken, avocado pieces, tortilla strips Fajitas - combo (4/5) - chicken was seasoned well and the beef (medium rare) was perfection and so tender and juicy, mexican rice was fluffy, and normally I would pass on the beans and get extra rice but my coworker suggested the charro beans and wow, that was a win - the seasoning was great, there were chunks of meat and the texture was nice, the only thing that could have been done better is the flour tortillas - they over-charred them making them too crispy and left them with a burnt taste. A couple of people got the elote salad and raved about it. So that will be a next time try. Def will be back. Everyone enjoyed their meals and some even ordered food to go. Would recommend.

Parking can be challenging on weekends, but there is complimentary valet and a few extra spots in a lot across the street. There's interior and exterior seating, with cozy booths and tables. Service is friendly. Chips and salsa: Superica has some of my favorite chips, crispy and thin and perfectly fried. The avocado crema salsa and warm serrano pepper salsas are delicious with a mild kick. The bottled red salsa is fresh and green salsa packs a nice punch. Migas: Scrambled eggs with tortilla chips and cheese, choice of chicken versus chorizo on top, finished with fresh avocado. I really enjoyed this combination and the generous portion for the price. The eggs are well scrambled without being dry, and the pairing with cheese is proportional. The chicken was a touch dry, but some salsa solved that well. I enjoyed stuffing each component into a fresh tortilla and devouring it as a breakfast taco. Refried beans and rice: Really delicious. The refried beans are of the smoother variety without as much chunkiness, which I prefer, and topped with creamy cheese. I could have used a touch more tomato in the rice, but overall enjoyed the texture and flavor. Patatas with salsa roja, topped with egg: I enjoyed the flavors in this dish, but there was sooo much salsa. The potatoes were thus a little soggy, though still cooked well. The over medium egg was cooked nicely and complemented the potatoes with creamy yolk. Bacon: Really generous portion for $7 as a side, and cooked well. Crispy potatoes: I enjoy that these are fingerling potatoes smashed and roasted, but they could be crispier. They seem to be on the blander side on purpose to allow seasoning to taste, and I really like pairing them with the red bottled salsa provided at each table (probably due to their association with ketchup). Hotcakes: The literal star of every brunch, these hotcakes are consistently delicious. They're massive yet somehow cooked perfectly through so that they're fluffy and soft on the inside and just with a slight crunch on the outside. The pairing of the creamy warm (!!!) maple syrup is heavenly. Because of how huge these are, usually one is enough to share between two people, although they also come in stacks of two and three. For reference, we finished 3/4 of three between four healthy and hungry people and it wasn't for lack of trying. Whenever I crave weekend brunch, Superica is always a top option.
