Perfect place for a date night or girls night. We arrived for dinner at 7:30pm. There were only a few other tables but if you haven't tried this place you are missing out!! Our server was great (I forgot his name sorry) he was friendly, attentive, gave recommendations and even gave us coupons for our next visit. The food was DELICIOUS! Everything was fresh, hot, and well seasoned. We didn't even need to ask for the salt and pepper. We had the Greedy wings for appetizers. Which were on special for $1 per wing. We ordered the buffalo lemon pepper and the yam glazed wings. Both were delicious! My fav was the yam glazed wings. They were Hot, crispy but very moist on the inside. 10/10. I ordered the short ribs with spicy cabbage and Mac n cheese. The short ribs were tasty but had a few fatty pieces and could use a sauce to elevate, Mac n cheese was good very cheesy. The cabbage was very good! My husband had the turkey chops with greens and the spaghetti. The turkey chop was soooo good. It was so crunchy on the outside and moist inside I honestly forgot it was turkey. The server brought us a side of gravy to go with the chops that was also delicious. The greens tasted like your grandma's greens IYKYK. The spaghetti was also very good. Overall, this was a great dinner! We look forward to coming back and trying more food on the menu. read more

A complete miss from start to finish. The service was slow and inattentive, which set the tone for the whole experience. The food felt like it was trying way too hard to be something fancy or unique but it just didn't land. Instead of being delicious, it was honestly pretty gross. The atmosphere didn't help either ...... it came off as amateur and unpolished rather than inviting. Overall, this was easily one of the worst meals I've had in a while. Came here to celebrate my birthday. The food was a 10/10. When I went to visit my party of 9 was originally the only party in the building. 30 minutes into my wait ; a party of 2 arrived . My rating is a 3 because the customer service could have been much better. My waitress was a very sweet but, she was not knowledgeable at all. She was not aware of how to operate the machine to take orders and was very slow in making our alcoholic beverages (mind you the waitress was also the bartender). Moving onto whom addressed herself as the "manager". Attitude was very stall and unwelcoming. Tab for my party was over $500 and it took over 30 minutes explaining how to split the bill to the waitress whom took our order and should have known who ordered what. honestly the automatic gratuity that was added onto the bill was NOT deserved. We came to check out a new-to-us spot, and we found The Greedy Lion, which is located in the Washington Corridor area. Their menu consists of mostly southern menu items; we ordered the wings, and salmon balls for apps. The salmon balls were subpar; it was pretty fishy and I wasn't a fan of the interior taste despite the texture being good. The wings were fried well; decent size and crispy. The associated sauce with the wings was a bit too sweet; I wasn't the biggest fan so it was good that we requested it on the side. My entree was the short ribs with corn and greens. The flavor of the ribs were fine but slightly underwhelming. It was a very crockpot cooker texture and it was slightly on the bland side. The sides were fine but not extraordinary. read more

The Greedy Lion was a great experience for me. Just to be able to have a nice meal without having to fight for parking or pay for parking these days is a major plus. The food! The food! The food was amazing. I wanted to experience the Lion in great way so I ordered the Greedy Wings, and the soulful sides!!! I'm more of spicy wing type guy so I really didn't know what to expect from the Greedy wings, knowing they are tossed in yam sauce. Well, let me testify!!!!! I enjoyed them wings all the way down to the last finger lick!!!!! They were perfect balance of sweet and savory. Every side was amazing, but the spicy cabbage was EVERYTHING and I can't wait to return for more. The service turned out to be pretty good. It's a friendly environment for the most part. I'm just having a hard time trying to determine the vibe. The aesthetics of the layout/decor and the food is giving a dimmed light, possible date night situation but the environment was a little more hype, giving more of a cocktail/coffee bar feel! I was invited to check out Greedy Lion on a night they were filming promo as, what the GM mentioned, it's only been open for a month. This is the location of the old TREZ Wine Bar. The restaurant boasts modern elements, kind of ecletic, and has efficient lighting all throughout. The food is definitely the star here -- Greedy Wings are PERRRFECT, and every side on the menu was like a taste of comfort. Great balance of pricing with portions, too. I'm a stickler for an ambience, atmosphere, and service (which there was an attempt, but fell short.) It was also a little noisy during the event. A few things could make it even better: Be vigilant and welcoming to customers entering the establishment, provide faster service, more balance between music and conversation, adjust the lighting to match the vibe, and layout of the dining area needs improvement. Decided to give this place a try based on a Instagram post. I saw the name before but something about the name Greedy lion didn't make me run to it, but after seeing the food I wanted to try it. We went Sunday around 11 and they were empty but they had just opened. Alexis greeted us and allowed us to sit anywhere. The parking was plentiful and free! The atmosphere was very nice. We ordered 2 drinks and they were okay. It was a side car and a bourbon drink. They were only serving brunch but the chef let me order the fish and spaghetti since that was my main purpose for going. We also got the wings and waffles. The waffles were cool and the wings were huge. The fish was great and flavorful. I also liked the spaghetti. I learned this was owned by a black woman from Chicago which was a plus in my book. It is a little pricey but it was good. This is a hidden gem! I didn't know what to expect coming to The Greedy Lion, but I was impressed. Everything we tried was flavorful and well cooked. I wouldn't come here on a diet, but the food was well worth the calories. We started with the greedy wings and sweet potato corn muffins. The wings were seasoned well with a slight sweetness. The muffins might've been my favorite. I'm a sweets person and although the muffin itself isn't super sweet, the butter they give you almost tastes like icing. For my entree I had the catfish frenzy. The fish - yes. The spaghetti was alittle cheesy for me, but my boyfriend loved it. It's located in the heights in a shopping center. It's small so you wouldn't just notice it, but it worth your time to find. I would be remised if I didn't mention the bartender. bartender T was amazing. Food is great!! Baked chicken, Dressing, mac & cheese, yams, greens, and banana pudding all perfectly on point. The short ribs are different than most places, so they may need to think about working on that improvement. Otherwise, this is a great small space with good old school R&B music vibes during early evening hours and good service. If this place doesn't make it, it will only be because of lack of marketing in crowded Houston restaurant market because it is also located in a great location off Studemont & Washington Ave. next to Walgreens. Lamb chops weren't very good way more gamey than other lamb chops I've had in Houston area and the catfish was solid but not $40+ dollars worth. Picked up an order tonight 2/20 around 10:45pm. Interior was absolutely gorgeous with a well lit bar and dj area. The server there was so sweet and helpful. Once we saw the menu we decided to try "a little bit of alot" A few highlights... - Service: from the time we walked in the door the service was A+. We were greeted and seated by the Owner, Latanya and our waiter T was great the entire time. Knowledgeable about the menu, great conversation, and on top on making sure we had everything we needed. - Appetizers: greedy wings and sweet potato corn muffins were both an excellent choice to start the meal. - Greens: I don't eat just anybody's greens and I'm a critic when it comes to greens. I'll order these again and highly recommend. - Turkey Chops: as a person who has lived in Chicago for years, I LOVE turkey chops, but have never been able to find them in Houston, until now. Highly recommend and make sure you ask for a side of gravy. - Cabbage: delicious. Reminded me of some of my favorite Jamaican spots - Corn: i'm a huge fan of maque choux and this reminded me of my fav corn dish. To the restaurant take this as an improvement to do better. As I entered the place there was no greeting of any sort by restaurant staff, only to be told by another customer that it was open seating. Once at the table the attendant from the bar come over and brought back water to the table and I asked may she bring me a straw, her response " we are out". She then comes back after ten minutes to take our order for food. She left and came back five minutes later to ask again what did we order. After observing other customers facial expression a lady turn to me and my brother and say " I just got my food after being here for an hour and a half." I called the waitress to ask her if our order was placed and she went to go check, she came back to tell us that "she didn't see it in". I told her to inform the cook not to start because I was not going to wait any longer after being there for an hour already.
