We (meaning me) always have a complicated or altered order, and we tend to order dessert first & she handled all of the alterations and extra food well. 5/5 Ambiance: It was a beautiful day so we ate outside which I think was the better option. The place is located in a traditional type of diner. The inside was just ok compared to the patio dining. Also I went to the rest room to wash my hands and the bathroom definitely needed some extra TLC in the maintenance department so... 3/5 Taste: Dessert- There were definite hits and there were some mediocre hits. We both loved the creme brûlée. I enjoyed the bread pudding more than my partner, but I do wish there was more sauce or just a little more moist in general. Flavor wise it was pretty decent. 4/5 Entrees- The burger for my partner was 3.5 for him taste wise. It was decent but he's had better burgers. Also the truffle fries were on the drier side meaning it needed to either be more crunchy if it's gonna be dry or a little more butter/oil for the truffle flavor to pop better. The chicken salad was pretty good. The chicken was cool to almost perfection. It was juicy and fully cooked and the panko breading was perfect. The only thing that didn't make the chicken a 5/5 is it needed a little more salt or a little extra flavor. But that just may be my opinion as someone who really enjoys flavorful items and I don't mind salty foods. 4/5 Sides: 3/5 for the Mac & Cheese and Truffle Risotto. Again it lacked a certain flavor/salt. It's has a lot of potential, but I've had better. Overall, we gave it a 4 just for everything total. If I could I'd probably give it more of a 3.75 but since we can't give reviews that way I figured my break down explaining the number break downs could possibly help. This is definitely a 5 star eatery! The food was really good, the service was spectacular and the environment and vibe was worth the wait! Just look at the pictures and see the food for yourself! This eatery is worth all of it! You might have to wait for a table and good luck getting a parking spot to say the least! The only reason I gave them a 4 and not a 5 star was because they ran out of utensils had to give us plastic utensils. The food is pretty good. The staff is not bad. My French toast plate looked a little average but the taste was above that. The frozen Bellini still hit like a standard Bellini so I wasn't mad at it. I usually stay away from frozen brunch drinks but I wanted the flavor to compliment my dish. The French toast was kind of perfect and potatoes were well seasoned. The bacon had that old school crispiness to it that gave me nostalgia of eating with my grandparents back in the day. This is a cute little restaurant with the feel of a diner. Had plans to dine elsewhere in the neighborhood but parking was a challenge. Came upon District 7 whose parking was easily accessible. If one person can make a dining experience SUPER, that one person was Nile in this venue. He arrived at our table just as our orders arrived and after the perfunctory questions offered his name and told us to ask for him if there was anything we needed. I told him about what I was going to order but did not because my dining companion recommended another dish. Nile offered to bring me a sample of the dish I had not ordered and on my next visit back, I will be ordering what I had planned initially. That is not to say that I was not pleased with my order at all. It was delicious too. The staff at this location are friendly and focus on the customer. How rare is that in many restaurants today? District 7 looks like an strange metal building in the middle of a large parking lot surrounded by busy roads and right next to a freeway. It turns out this Midtown eatery is like a classic American diner except the menu has more variety. You'll see classic burgers but also Wagyu Beef burgers, seafood pastas, items with foie gras, dishes with wild boar, pizzas cooked in a Tandoor, and desserts. I'm giving 5 stars for lunch since I have not had perfectly-grilled salmon in such a long time. The vast majority of restaurants I've been to tend to overcook and under-season the salmon. Here, their ginger-soy grilled salmon was soft and juicy throughout. The asparagus sides were crunchy, while the mashed potatoes were smooth and not overwhelmingly buttery nor drowned in sauce/gravy. District 7 Grill definitely takes the classic diner to new culinary heights. 5 stars. NOTE: Yelp business hours are wrong - they open at 8:30am so not the best place for early, pre-work breakfast. Been on my list for a while and finally decided to meet a friend for dinner. It was cold and rainy which made finding a table easy which is a plus since the space is pretty small. It reminds me of a mobile diner. Another bonus is that, although it's in Midtown, it has a parking lot so you don't have to worry about parking blocks away. There are really no frills. The service was fine - pretty quick and accommodating. The food was okay. My friend got the Maple Seared Salmon that came with sweet potato chips and Spanish rice. It was consumed mostly from hunger than flavor. I got the Blackened Shrimp Carbonara sans pancetta. I know by removing the pancetta, I removed an element of salt but it still had very little flavor. The shrimp tasted a bit fishy but maybe it was just me. Either way, I planned to add some flavor once home but never got around to it. Eh. Went here with a group. The food was basic, drinks were not cold. But the French toast was good. The waiter took ALL the cc for payment and they were on separate card trays. So it puzzles the hell out of me, how he manage to charge my husband's card incorrectly. Then charged the right amount. And the credit still hasn't been returned to his card. This was on June 3rd AND there was someone else from the group that was double charged. He's spoken to a manager (Anna) on two different occasions. Where her was assured the money would be sent back. But still NOTHING. So today June 15th he went there and they're telling him the manager isn't in today. So there only waitstaff there today?? All I know is this restaurant has thieves working there (the waiter said this happens all the time). And they BETTER reverse that transaction. I can imagine how many customers are getting scammed today. You know since there's not a manager on duty. UPDATE: We go in today and the "manager" says the owner told her they can't do nothing. She didn't even want to call the owner, but eventually did. No surprise that the owner's wife was the person she called. And she didn't want to get in the phone to talk. Bottom line definitely do NOT leave w/o a VOIDED receipt after JOSH double charges you to pocket the money later. If it were worth suing over, we definitely would. After landing in Houston and checking in, we decided to look for places close by to grab a bite and came across District 7 Grill. It was a beautiful day but windy so the patio wasn't ideal for us. The inside gave diner vibes which was cute. We sat at a booth, ordered a carafe of champagne and waters, and reviewed the menu. My sister and I both decided on the crab cake with potatoes, eggs for me, grits for her. They also had a $7 frozen peach bellini that I decided to try so I ordered that as well. Food didn't take that long and while it looked underwhelming, it was surprisingly good. The potatoes are huge and could've used a tad bit more salt and crispiness. Crab cake tasted better than I thought. It only comes with one but it was seasoned pretty well. Eggs were good and still steaming. My sister wasn't a big fan of the cheese grits. The peach bellini was good but probably wasn't the right choice for the weather. Frozen drinks and windy weather aren't a very good mix, lol. Tasty food and great customer service! A friend of mine organized a gathering where he brought wines. There is BYOB for about $8 a bottle. They served flat bread pizzas as appetizers and they were tasty, especially the feta cheese and spinach one. I ordered a dinner salad adorned with jícama and not drenched with dressing. I tried my friend's French fries. They are thick and excellent. For dessert, I had a decadent slice of chocolate cake which the waiter recommended. I'm still enjoying it at home. On a previous visit I had the seafood pappardelle. The seafood was abundant though I feel they could put more of the actual pasta on the plate. Generous portions and really cute vibe! I stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon for brunch at 11am. It was pretty dead so I sat at the front counter. The staff was really fun and attentive. They made my mimosas STRONG which is just how I like them and they are only $2!! I ordered a Breakfast Ice Burger Bowl ($13) and it was massive! Very generous portion of fries under it as well. You could easily share this dish. Keep in mind that this is an adorable old-fashioned diner style experience. It's a little tight on the inside for seating and moving around, but they also have an outdoor patio if you need more room. The parking is a little tricky because they're located on a tough corner off of one way streets. The parking lot makes it seem like you need to pay but when I went inside to ask I was told that's not necessary. Really cool place and it's right off of the highway. This is the first time ever encountering such horrible service and we are regulars at this establishment. Whomever this manager was on duty needs to be replaced or given more training on customer service. One of my friends approached him to say her food was cold after he placed it on the table . He got an attitude and told her to go sit down then proceeded to swat her hand when she was trying to point to the exact item on her plate and yelled at her saying "he will put our ass " , bc she stated not to touch her . He also proceeded to turn to the cooks and yelled "hurry up to them so he can put our monkey asses out". We asked him to repeat himself and he threatened again to " put our asses" . My friend was in so much disbelief she couldn't even finish her food and left . We requested to speak with the manager and He states, "he is the manager". We never got loud nor cursed him out , and some of us continued eating our meals while observing his piss poor customer service to the rest of the patrons who was already there and who came in after us . If this is who you have representing the brand needs to be fired due to his actions on yesterday and the racial slander he used was totally unacceptable. Manager was super aggressive (negatively) and the food was not as described on the menu. In town for volleyball tournament (the team is from another city 4hr drive away); apparently they have a weekend policy, that was not advertised, stating they would not break up the bill to accommodate the team and families. We had a party of 23 people. Manager told us about the policy and stated we could break the party into several tables then they could split the check to 5 bills (we had two servers). His tone and demeanor was so offensive that one parent gently told him that he was being really aggressive to all of us and reminded him that this was a simple q&a about their policy. Unfortunately we received one giant bill (over $500) with the expectation that one card be used; didn't solve the payment issue seeing as there were 8 different "families/players" and team staff. Regarding the food, prime example, my child ordered the eggs Benedict, literally was a piece of toast, slice of ham, and really over poached eggs (they were hard boiled eggs) and no hollandaise sauce. We got two bottles of wine on happy hour which were great and service was decent but we were the only ones in the restaurant so there's not much to compare it to. This place reminded me a bit of a NY diner. We were looking for a new breakfast place to try and saw the good reviews. We always start with two cups of coffee, and I definitely judge breakfast places by their coffee. The coffee here is OK. The cups are thick and not super big, so you need a refill fairly often, but the service was very attentive, so that wasn't a huge inconvenience. I'm always looking for healthier but filling options (the dream, right?). I ended up choosing the the Veggie Breadfast and my husband got the Meaty Omelette and made a couple substitutions. The Veggie Breadfast - solid. It could've used a bit more flavor. I thought the salsa was also a little bland, and I was craving more cheese. It was a good lighter option, though, and the price was certainly right at $9. Meaty Omelette - my husband really liked this. He said he would definitely order it again. The music was VERY loud for 9 am on a Sunday. We asked them to lower it, and they were nice enough to do so, but even lower it was a lot for us personally. The rest of the dish was some sad mushy potatoes, the eggs, and one slice of toast cut in half. They really didn't put any effort into the potatoes- like they just cut them, boiled them, then sprinkled on some Old Bay. Don't get me started on the "whipped spread" they try to pass off a butter. Sat at the bar looking multiple servers in their faces for 20 minutes until I finally stopped yet a 3rd server asking if there was someone over the bar top or sections for the booths. It was complete organized chaos. They need a manager to assign sections & someone for the bar top, they have no host or anything! Who in the world is the manager?
