As soon as we walked into the restaurant, the owner asked how many people were in our party. We told him there were two of us, and he directed us to a table. Unfortunately, about 15 minutes passed and no one ever came to take our order. I never saw a server come to our table, and the owner appeared to be too busy talking on the phone to acknowledge or assist us. The restaurant itself also did not appear very clean, which added to our disappointment. Since no one attended to us after waiting, we decided to leave. As we were leaving, we politely said, "Thank you," even though we had received no service. The owner responded, "You're welcome," which felt rather dismissive given that we had been sitting there for approximately 15 minutes without being helped. Overall, the experience was disappointing. The Huevos Rancheros was warm going cold when it was served. The pulled pork was hard to pull apart and the flavor of the plate was alright. The salsa they added I think over powered too much since it was a bit spicy. The Fish and Chips was good. The batter could've used more seasoning but the tarter sauce helped to give flavor it needed. Fries were good too. The biscuit was soft and fluffy and sausage was the right amount of spicy, although a bit oily. Both of those were solid. I finally decided to check this place out, after hearing about it a while back! It's a fairly small place inside, so get there early if you have a large group. The waiter was very kind and friendly, and seemed to be well-known and liked by many of the patrons he passed by. It felt like a very family-friendly place. I don't remember seeing anything extravagant or out of the ordinary on the menu, but everything looked good if you were looking for breakfast or lunch. Second time here. Nice family owned neighborhood Breakfast/Lunch Cafe. Good for a casual breakfast. My first time here I ordered the Chicken & Waffle breakfast with sauce on the side. House made fried chicken breast in a light batter was nice. Waffles were ok. This tone around I ordered the Iron Man Omelet. 3 egg whites, spinach, red peppers, and pancake for my choice of side. Also ordered extra side of turkey sausage. Omelet was a bit salty in parts... next time I'll ask for no added salt. Turkey sausage was good, and I liked the single side pancake... nice and fluffy center with a light crust from the pan. My Mom likes to order the London Breakfast...2 eggs any style with potato hash, choice of protein, and toast or pancake. Very friendly family. The owner/Chef always comes by to check on us to make sure everything was ok. It can get a bit noisy and chaotic in the restaurant at times when they are busy. Heard good things about this local breakfast place. Nothing about it is really "British" aside from the name. But that doesn't really matter. Mostly empty when I got here, and most of the staff didn't speak English aside from the owner/manager. As my food was delivered and I reached for the salt, the roach crawled out of the holder. Got a quick picture before I took it out. Tried to tell the staffs but since they didn't speak English they just smiled and took the napkin I squished the bug in. Good is of okay quality. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. Steak was a bit chewy, but not the worst I've had. Really hard to give this place anymore than two stars. What a nice find! A bit out of the way located in the far West side of town on HWY 6 but worth the drive or if you are near the area and haven't tried it do yourself a favor and give it a shot. The food and service are great. The layout and ambiance gives small town diner and the food is from scratch. The owner / chef came around multiple times to check on us and surrounding tables. It was clear they had their regulars which is a good sign. It may be a bit too far for us to be regulars but we will definitely be coming back to this place from time to time. read more

It's a fairly small place and packed for breakfast. Best creps I've ever had - the ends were a bit crispy and really just accented the rest of the great taste and texture. You can probably split them if you wanted, but I decided to devour them. The apple maple bacon was honestly a bit disappointing. Perhaps I was expecting more, but to me it wasn't any better than "normal bacon" Food did take awhile to get. We did have 7 at our table. Service was effective and efficient. The food offered on the menu was varied and plentiful. Maybe that was the problem. It looked promising as a diner. It even had pics of the regulars in the front. Maybe if I ordered the fish and chips I'd be raving, but I ordered the Rueben sandwich. It had one dried out piece of meat, gooey cheese instead of melted Swiss, and too much sauerkraut. It tasted salty and overcooked. I was so disappointed I only ate a quarter of it. When the waiter asked if I wanted to take it home I said no. I was looking for a quick breakfast so as always Yelp to my rescue. The reviews were mixed but the star rating seemed high enough, so I stopped in. I came here for the first time on a Sunday midday with 2 others. Showed up with no resy. There was a wait list on the counter top at the front with one name on it already for a group of 6. No one was at the hostess counter. Staff were busy bussin tables, nobody even looked up. The table of 6 was waiting at the entrance with us. But after we put our name on the list, some older gentlemen with a British accent got up from his table and told us to come and sit down. We told him we were waiting to be seated, but he insisted and sort of pushed us gently towards to the table, so we obliged. We asked if he worked there and he said "something like that". I don't know if he was the owner or just a long standing customer. But he was kind to give up his table for strangers. The place is quaint. It was busy with large groups, one of them was at least a 10+ table. And for that, I can understand the not so great service. Service- was rocky. Mostly looked like a 20 year old staff. Which I have no issue with for the record. I'm not ageist. Plus a couple of older gentlemen in the small kitchen in the back. The staff definitely seemed like they were in the weeds, zipping all over the place, but no one seemed in charge or expediting or managing the floor? Everyone looked like they were scrambling to deliver food to tables. It took us a while to get the table cleaned, then the menus, and even longer to get food. Which the food order did come out a bit mixed up. Our server told us immediately when we first sat down that she just started working there and was brand new. And had not had much of the food. And that's ok, everyone is new at something at some point. But the issuss came with us having to ask multi times to multi staff to get utensils, coffee, missing items from our order. Then the wrong food came out. Plus we never got offered water, and the food wasn't hot. Food- I ordered the Houston Breakfast, comes with egg, protein, and a carb. I went with sunny side up eggs, turkey sausage, and single pancake. At least I thought it was turkey sausage, but to be honest I don't know if it was regular sausage. I guess it automatically comes with hashbrowns? Food was fine, I've had better diner food. The only silver lining of the meal, they did not charge us for our coffee just the food. I don't know if that was just an error on there part on the receipt or there normal restaurant practice. So maybe it all just evened out in the end? read more

We were visiting Houston again and were looking for a good place for some yummy breakfast/brunch, and stumbled across London Cafe. I think we got lucky too as such places ....at least where we are from....are always packed, with long lines out the door, and long waiting lists. However, we seemed to have come at a good time as the place was not crowded at all, with no wait. The place is a good sized restaurant, with very spacious interior with high ceilings, has a simple yet pleasant decor, and has a nice and relaxing vibe to it. Service was so nice, down to earth, friendly, and polite....and the owner even took the time out fo the kitchen to stop by to say hi and to check up on us. We later learned that this is a family owned and run business. Their menu is long and extensive, and yes, you will have trouble choosing what yummy dish to order. After reading through the menu completely, we went ahead and ordered the Chicken & Waffles with gravy on the side, the London benedict with a fruit cup on the side (fyi, my order), and the Houston Breakfast with scramble eggs, bacon, and link sausage.....all the breakfasts came with their hasbrown potatoes that were tossed with what I can best describe homestyle potatoes....and instead of toast, a single pancake was requested. All the condiments you could ever need or want is available on the table, and you can make everything taste just the way you like it. Ingredients were all so fresh, food was all prepared and served hot off the griddle, and in such generaous portions....and came out real quick too. Everybody enjoyed their breakfasts very much.....and were quite stuffed by the end of it all. Excellent, friendly, and attentive service, pleasant and quiet ambiance (at least when we were there), and very good food. My friend and I went here for breakfast and a Monday morning. I want something small so I went with the Houston breakfast and had one pancake with it. The pancake was really good. It had a nice edge crisp to it, but it softened if you leave it alone overtime. The potatoes are both hashed and chunk up. The chicken apple sausages and eggs were typical. If you want more flavor or salt, there are a small tray of sauces on your table. The owner was very sweet and checked on us to make sure that we were doing well . This is one place that I had been looking forward to try and it fell a little short. The hours on here need to be updated & I did communicate to the manager who was extremely nice. I opted for the BLTA & French fries. The bacon was too tough and sandwiched didn't hold together very well. The fries tasted like it was time for oil to be changed. What was not the best experience was when the server came to take my order and brought the food, he smelled like he had just finished his cigarette breaks. We left at 3:40 Veggie omelet was delicious! Salted and seasoned perfectly. Hash browns were not edible. Not fresh, stale and old grease flavor. Pancake was dry. Daughter had waffles and chicken, she liked it but wasn't crazy about it. She asked for gravy on the side and never got it. It felt as if we'd be a bother to ask. Server came by once to check on us but we didn't ask for the gravy because we were almost done. We plan to come back at an earlier time, hoping for fresh pancakes and hash browns.
