What a nice little local comfort food place. I was immediately greeted by Terry with a handshake when I got to the table, very nice server enjoyed his humor and helpfulness. Got the daily special, which was catfish cooked my way fried shrimp and two sides. Everything was good, the shrimp and the catfish seemed like it was already cooked and just warmed up, but it was still a good flavor so if it was fresh, I would've given a five instead of four. I'm thinking they were pre-cooked due to the fact that it was the daily special. I will go back and try the grilled catfish or salmon next time since the flavor was very good.

What an amazing time we had. Drew was our server and he did an outstanding job. We never wanted for anything. His service was impeccable. The food was great as usual and the restaurant was decorated all festive for the holidays. The ambiance was very family friendly.

Everything we ate here was top notch fried pickles and jalapeños; Came with ranch and horseradish sauce. Perfectly fried and the sauce was 10/10. Chicken fried steak; a fan favorite. So tender, well seasoned, and huge. Fried shrimp with blackened fish; shrimp had good batter, slightly tough but delicious. Fish was the star, so perfectly cooked. We got broccoli cheddar rice and macaroni. I could have eaten just sides and still ranked this place 5 stars.

It has been a while since my last review so I thought I would update it. Not much has changed which is good. My most recent visit was for the chicken fried steak entree that comes with mashed potatoes and gravy and with a side salad for $18. The salad was still good but I noticed that it no longer comes with shredded cheese on top like my picture of it from 7 years ago. Too bad. The CFS was large on the plate and tasted good along with the spuds. This is one of the better CFS's in the area. The waitress was prompt and friendly. Pappy's is a good place to eat.

Mixed fajitas for one. The fajitas were definitely tasty, however, the rice was undercooked and the beans were bland. Server was nice and attentive.

There are a lot of different food spots to choose from in the Energy Corridor. This was one of the only restaurants that was still open for different past 8 PM. I was surprised to see that it was EMPTY for dinner when I came by at 7:45. There were probably 4 other guests in the whole restaurant. I sat down at the bar area and Michael came to take care of me. Service was a bit slow which was surprising because no one else was there... took a while to get my water and to place my order. I got the Chicken Florentine with the Texas Smashed Potatoes and Fried Okra. I then couldn't pass up homemade blackberry cobbler for dessert which hit home with a nice scoop of vanilla on top! There's plenty of bar seating and regular dining, it was just quiet and slow. Seems like a good local watering hole to check out.

Service was very good here as is the atmosphere. Had the chicken fried steak and ribs/sausage plate. The portions are big and everything was really tasty. The ribs were super tender.

    Margarita on the rocks

Public Service announcement!! If Erica is bartending make sure you get a seat at her bar!! The bartender Erica is amazing, we came for a relaxed evening and is super friendly and welcoming offering great conversation and yummy drinks while making sure the whole bars cared for. The wait staff is awesome and very friendly too. Even when crammed with work they never make you feel bad for a question and offer a smile. The foods always that home comfort goodness and the atmosphere is a western home. It's clean and they have great music playing. My only complaint is the actual manager working tonight. I had to ask because all of the workers were busting their butts and working really hard and Dave sat at the front not helping at all which seemed really weird for a manager to not help. Normally places I go to if things need any help the managers don't have an issue. He comes across as lazy and disinterested so if you ever need a manager hope DAVE isn't working. I still am giving it five stars because other than the uncaring lazy manager the workers food and drinks were awesome and I will definitely return to sit at the bar with Erica and have my margarita.

Service was amazing-- we loved our waiter who was a combination of polite, funny, and knowledgeable, and everyone gave us a smile. All the dishes were beautifully presented and flavorful but definitely on the heavier side. - Beet salad (5/5)-- wow, never had a beet salad like this one before! So much flavor with a tanginess from vinegar sweetened by the blueberries and beets. The beets didn't taste very earthy (aka like dirt) compared to most beet salad. This was really well executed :) - Caesar salad (3.5/5)-- Credence's spin on Caesar, which according to my Caesar salad pro diner, didn't really taste like Caesar salad. Also very tangy and tart but the pro still enjoyed it as a salad dish. - Roasted cabbage (4/5)-- big fan of the way they roasted this, perfect tenderness without being cabbage mush! Definitely a heavy dish, especially for a vegetable option, as it was swimming in a butter cream sauce that started to congeal as it cooled off. Would choose this more as an indulgent appetizer rather than a healthy veggie option. I wonder if one could ask for the sauce on the side... - Tuna tostada (3.5/5)-- if you like strong flavors, this one packs a punch. The gochujang aioli beneath the tuna is really concentrated, making it difficult to taste the actual tuna. There's a bit of heat but thankfully I wouldn't say it was spicy. Fun to try. The tostada itself was very dense and almost a bit bread-y versus a crispy chip texture. - Crab fried rice (4/5)-- comes with lobster foam that is mixed table side and a generous amount of crabmeat lumps. The rice actually had a nice texture without being too... grainy / individualized, but it was too salty for me. - Akaushi Wagyu beef (4.5/5)-- loved the texture which was tender but with some chew (was expecting more of a melt-in-the-mouth texture though) and the veggies that it came with. It was heavily salted, too much so for me. Would've been perfect with less salt since there's already a chimichurri sauce with it. - Peanut butter tart (4.5/5)-- peanut butter lovers rejoice! The chocolate filling was rich, thick, and sweet which was complemented nicely with the whipped cream (not sweet at all). The peanut flavor really shined. The crust didn't have much of a taste by itself and was sandy in texture, not sure if on purpose or over-baked and dried out. Either way, the tart looked impressive when it arrived and was delectable-- my favorite bite of the night! Overall a nice experience! Although there was a mess up and the rest of our two salads and crab rice wasn't packed with our other food to take home; I was pretty sad about that since it was quite a bit of food (and $$). I might return for that peanut butter tart, but everything else was too heavy and too salty for me. I'm personally not a huge butter fan, but if you are, definitely make a reservation for a special occasion or date!

The dining experience was fantastic from start to finish: Complimentary Bread: A wonderful touch to kick off the meal. Chicken Piccata: Generous serving, wonderfully seasoned chicken, and flawless angel hair pasta. Very lemony in the best way possible! Gumbo: Tasty, though definitely on the saltier side (and I love salt!). For my chicken piccata and two glasses of wine, my total before tip came to $47.80, which felt very fair for the quality. To top it off, our server was wonderful and checked on us faithfully, and even the owner walked around to make sure everyone was enjoying their time. From the atmosphere to the service and the food, it was an all-around great experience! Noise level can be high with the live piano music. Not the best place for serious talks. Thankfully we didn't have that on our agenda. We thoroughly enjoyed our expereince.

They could be mass produced but at least they were seasoned. The fries seemed homemade. The spinach dip was good. It would be better with pita chips or tortillas chips. I used the chips I had. The toast/ bread was fine. Not sure how it would be after a day or two. The seafood mushrooms did not smell fishy. Just needed a little salt. Actually everything could have been better with more salt or spices. Not bland just not memorable enough to frequent.

The food is always great so no complaints there but my brave review is definitely the service. There were laughs, and background information on the restaurant, some of the chefs, and servers and it was also very interesting. We tried so many menu items. We had like three or four boards and several brunch items. Of course, I got the cucumber honey lemonade and I made my friend try it too. Lol. Delicious as always. 10 out of 10.
