I was there for a Latin night that happens Tuesday nights. Ambience was good and so was the music. The floors were a little in need of TLC (only dancers would notice or care about this.) My friends had some food and they said it was ok, except for the sliders which were too spicy. I went to the bar to buy a water and the bar tenders were very fast with the service. Overall a great experience. Only thing, parking sucks so get there early if possible! read more

So many different levels to this place. I had the opportunity to visit here on the weekend. I will say parking is a little hectic if you get there early there is partying on the street. They do offer valet park for $20. When you walk up the have a nice little area to take a pic like you are coming off the red carpet. There is outside seating if you just want to enjoy the breeze with the hookah man there for your pleasure. The section that I enter was the cigar bar, when you walk in you go upstairs nice bar lounger area the another section that can reserved section. Nice venue with 5 different places in one. Had brunch today as part of a large party group. Reservation is for 2 hours. Nice scenery and fresh food. Tried stuffed blueberry waffle. It reminds me of funnel cakes. Great thick cut bacon. Didn't like having one ticket and needing to pay the host. Think business should be set up to split checks no matter what. BLACK OWNED BUSINESS & I'm really glad this bar is still able to operate during COVID. Went with a good friend who comes here often for business meetings in their cigar lounge. We went on a Thursday and it was so chill. The place is huge so you have plenty of space and don't have to worry about people being on top of you. Ladies, if you like Moscato. Try theirs! I'm pretty sure I drank a whole bottle. Their food was okay. The crab appetizer was tasty. And the fried chicken was soo good! The fried chicken was my favorite! However, the greens and mashed potatoes that came with it was disappointing. All in all, the vibe is so cool and the music is great. It's definitely a spot for grown folks! read more

Love this place. It is the largest restaurant in the state of Texas operating in 17,000 sqft. Yes they own the entire business. It is black owned and operated and a beautiful estsblishment. Essentially there are 5 places in one but after touring the space it's more like 8 or 9 different places in one. On the first floor there is a front room with seating and this their coffee shop/ cafe area. You can stop in the morning and have pastries and coffee. From there you enter into the restaurant area where it's dine in and a full service bar. There are 2 very spacious patios with seating. In the rear part of the first floor there's a 3 different bars, a large bar with seating, a smaller bar used for specialty drink and a wine bar. On the second floor is another bar and cigar lounge. There are also smaller suites for those that want to have privacy. This place is perfect for brunch or hosting a party. There is a parking lot so you don't have to park on the street however street parking is available. The drinks and the food were great. They ran out of chicken and salmon so the chef switched my salmon out with fried trout in a yellow curry sauce it was amazing. The staff and chefs were very accommodating to my mothers food allergy. And everyone was wearing their PPE and cleaning the establishment thoroughly after each patron, It was a great lunch with my family and I'm happy I chose this place and I will be back. read more

I feel in love with this place. This week was my first time there on Tuesday, then I went Wednesday and on Friday with my sister lol. Happy Hour is all day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The food was amazing. I am pescatarian and they had plenty options for me. The waitress I had was really sweet all 3 days and checked on me. As a former Chef Owner, and food blogger. Five Central is such a beautiful and brilliant concept. That I stood in awe, it caters to the young and grown folk crowd. I personally fell in love with the Cigar bar. And the wait staff was amazing it wasn't like they were there, and pissed off. They were happy, professional and speedy too. The place was classy and that's how I prefer to roll. The music was the best hip hop ever and the DJ was funny. And in the midst of all that the game was on, ok ! It's spread out enough to there's a dance area, and three other spot one of them being the cigar bar and a court yard. To the Brother Onyx who I met by chance while shopping.... The server bless her heart look flush and overwork. The drinks were water down. They did not accommodate my friend at all with the lack of professionalism my friend deserve. The manager was dismissive and rude to my friend when she ask for things she obviously paid for. I only recommend this place for the appetizers and the live band and that is the only reason why I gave 2 stars. We started our night with happy hour cocktails and light bites in a quiet garden-like atmosphere and moved to another venue with a bar in the center with a club vibe that offered hookah. I booked my birthday dinner in the Red Room for a party of 25 with their event coordinator, Paige. There's was a $1500 minimum + gratuity & I paid $750 for deposit at the time of booking. The space was small & only set for 18. It's not a room, it's a corner of the room that they give you. They said the space was booked for 20 not 25. Well the space wasn't set for 20 either. The party began at 8, & they never set the corner of the room up for 25. The part began at 8:00. At 8:45, I still had guest standing while trying to order food. The waitress Shannon appeared to be overwhelmed. She was slow & unprofessional. She spoke to my guests about what I was paying, but yet neglected to inform me when we had almost reached the minimum as we had previously discussed. After we reached the minimum, my guest were to pay out of their pockets. I noticed my guests pulling out cards. When I asked Shannon where we were in my bill, we had gone much over. So I ended up spending a little over $2100. Some of my guests had things their card was charged for that I was also charged for. My party as a whole may have spent at least $4500. We didn't want to spoil the night so we stayed for the live band (whom was the highlight of the night). We tried to make the best of it. I reached out to Paige to let her know how everything went. She told ME to reach out to all my guest that may have been double charged. Over almost two months of going back & forth, only one guest was able to get their bill adjusted correctly. I am not sure if everyone reached out because that's just a lot to ask customers to do when the mistake wasn't theirs. After a lot of back & forth, I received an offer for a $20 gift card. & Omar was the GM that finally called me back after two months only to be rude, argumentative, & tell me that was the only thing he could do. I have never spent this type of money & been treated & handled this way. I really expected a little more decency from such an establishment. read more

So much so my girlfriends and I wanted to go back on a Sunday night but they closed earlier than we anticipated. My friend heard about this establishment and wanted to support it so we tried it out. I arrived as the first customer in the main area around 5:30 on a Friday....I asked for a table for 2 or if I could sit at the bar and was seated at a table with 4 chairs ( again, the place was literally empty at this time). 5 Central is located in the same area that on the outside of the door reads-"Upper Kirby Bistro". They also provide valet parking which you may want to use since there is limited street parking. They provided happy hour deals on weekdays including Fridays, 1/2 off cocktails and appetizers, I believe. Drinks were mediocre and the appetizers were pretty good. I tried the frozen margaritas which seemed just too sweet for me, their wine list has various options, and they have a full bar, our waitress was really nice and awesome. All staff had masks on. What REALLY turned me OFF was that after a couple hours- the restaurant supervisor came and asked us to leave our table or move to another area because they had a reservation coming in as tables began filling up. Mind you, we were still drinking and talking- PAYING GUESTS! It's an INSULT to go anywhere and be asked to LEAVE a table, basically rushed out, I am NOT accustomed to this, and I don't understand how anyone would think their business can be successful operating this way. WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE ASKED TO LEAVE A TABLE? Perhaps you should have taken my initial offer to sit at the bar. We were not loud or rude, didn't bother anyone, it was SO STRANGE! As a restaurant business, for longevity and sustainability- they to need work on balancing the scheduling of reservations and the walk-in crowd, KNOW THAT SUCCESSFUL PLACES IN THE INDUSTRY DO NOT OPERATE THIS WAY. I got the sampler, which came with wings oxtails, greens, candied yams, grits, corn muffins, and probably something else.. but the only thing I enjoyed were the wings, they were big and soft but definitely needed a condiment.
