I gave 5 stars because of the staff, the food was 4.5 but the staff and managers were just the best. You could see the pride and love they had for the restaurant. If you're a first time goer they will give you samples to try as well. The restaurant is very clean and beautifully decorated. I went to this restaurant yesterday and started with the mango margarita, which was very good--I ended up ordering two. I then ordered the fajitas with all the fixings. The staff explained that the food is "original Mexican," not Tex-Mex, which I understood, but I was still surprised by the presentation. The fajitas arrived in an unusual bowl with onions and meat piled on top, including ribs. It felt like the meat was being portioned out rather than served generously, and nothing was brought out on a sizzling plate, which was disappointing. While the flavor of the food was fine, for the $33 price point I felt I could have gone to Pappasito's or Gringo's and had a better overall experience--Tex-Mex or not. We were also served corn seasoned with paprika, which was nothing memorable and overly tangy/sour. We came on a Saturday for brunch and it wasn't too packed. The interior was super cute and the service was amazing! Our waiter answered all of our questions and the staff greeted us when we walked in. We got the pan Dulce which also came with hot chocolate which they came by and made on a cart. The rooftop experience was provided Ambriza Lounge! It was Thursday night and they had a live Latin Band playing. I couldn't understand everything they were saying, but I enjoyed the music, along with their harmonies. I think the lounge menus are a little different from the regular, restaurant menu. This was the perfect end to the day! Was warmly greeted by a cheerful hostess upon entering. Took a seat at the bar as I often do and happy hour was well underway. Rodrigo and Miguel quickly came over to welcome me. Happy Hour and dinner menus were presented. I received several suggestions for cocktails and settled on the Hibiscus Margarita on the rocks with tajin rim. 9/10. Well balanced and flavorful. I was even presented with a little extra to refill my glass. As a treat for being a first time guest I received street corn! Likely the best I've ever had!!! It's shown as an appetizer. The dressing for the grilled fish tacos was flavorful however the fish was a little bland. The taco shells were homemade and that made all the difference. Would still order again 7/10. Chicken tinga empanadas were a score. Again, the fresh made shell and flavorful chicken tinga. Perfectly fried! Genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed the food from Ambriza. We started with some Yuca fries. I suggest you get an extra Chipotle Aioli, compliments the fries perfectly. The Ceviche Costeño was full of coconut flavor and large chunks of Mahi Mahi with onions. They are served with plantain chips as well. All of their tacos dinner plates comes with 3 servings. I asked and was able to get 3 different Tacos. In order of tastiness I would say Pastor, Carne Asada, and the Fish taco. All were super tasty. Their black beans has chunks of bacon in it. The rice was a bit bland, but didn't ruin the overall experience of the dinner plate. We mentioned it was our first time there and we received a complimentary Street Corn side. All I can say is wow! The staff is incredibly welcoming and everyone was wearing a smile. They emphasize that they are not Tex mex but are an authentic Mexican restaurant. Decor is also festive and the dining room is very bright and open. After they brought us the chips and salsa, which was great, they also brought us some complimentary elote. Wow! That was an experience. It was intensely tangy, spicy and cheesy all at the same time! A must try if you go! I had the fish tacos. I loved the flour tortilla and the raspberry crema - a unique twist on the flavors! Something about the tortilla was different. I don't know how they make them but it was delicious. Went for hh today. Service was horrible at the bar. Bartender moved so slow. We waited 15 min for a drink order. She did not seem friendly. The margaritas are good. You could tell people were getting upset to. They met in the restaurant so all service stopped. Don't know why you have a meeting in the middle of the restaurant during service. Had to ask twice for our Togo desert while the manager speaking to the bar tenders so disappointed in today after giving another chance. read more

Drinks - YES! Guac - OMG! Food - ehhh Corn was decent. Salsa is good. Guacamole is amazing but you can do it up your way so thats on you! Might I recommend bacon though. I have never had bacon in my guacamole before but it adds a good texture and I actually really liked it. Next time I will probably leave the cojita cheese out though. Beware the guacamole is $15.99. Which I was fine with because it's quite a bit of guacamole enough for 3 to 4 people. Probably should preface that most of it is top is style. The mahi ceviche is ok. Needs more flavor I thought, but fish was well done had a good texture and didn't taste too overwhelming. But the margs!!!! Yes please. Pineapple orange is my fav! On the rocks with tajín of course Atmosphere is awesome. Great music, good vibes, lots id color and lighting. Bar or seated, either is great! Waitstaff has always been good! I sat at the bar. Margaritas were awesome and service from Sebastian was excellent. He was very genuine and had great knowledge of the drinks and food. I ordered the flautas and sent them back because they were burnt. Even the bartender agreed. Not one manager came over to apologize. They all sat in the booth by the tea urns and one was eating. Staff was in the kitchen standing on what I assume are counters; cleaning and wiping stuff down with rags while the restaurant was still open and visible. We went on a Friday night so it was rather crowded! We were told it would be a 5-10 minute wait but it was actually about 20 minutes to get our table. They did take our number down to text when the table was ready though. The food overall was great and they had many vegetarian options that were delicious! However, the service was a bit disappointing. Since our waiter was so busy, it took quite a while to get our food and our food came in pieces rather than as a whole meal. For example, the chicken fajita came out without any of the sides or tortillas. It took an extra 15 minutes and telling multiple waiters and the manager to even get the tortillas and the side. The quantity of chicken given in the fajita was also a bit less than expected. We also ordered the yuca fries and they took our order, but at the very end of the night after we're done with the rest of meal, they told us that they ran out of the yuca fries and gave us regular fries instead. I was so excited to try the yuca fries, so it was a bit disappointing to find out that they ran out in the very end, especially after our waiter kept saying he will go check on the yuca fries for us. Fun atmosphere, great service, and amazing food. Came with a group of 9 ladies for drinks and appetizers and our big group was able to be seated with only a short wait. The hibiscus margarita was so good. Our group got a complimentary table side guacamole for our first visit, so fresh and fun. The waiter told us the origin story of the restaurant and was so great at answering our questions. We had so many different items, quesadillas, pork belly, empanadas to name a few everything was absolutely delicious. I am not in this area often but will make the trip back for sure! read more

They sing and do a lot for birthdays even if you don't want them to. They do all the stuff for 3 churros. You could eat at better places for party's and things like Perry's or taste of Texas. The food is very bland and dry. The street corn was the only thing that was ok but normally they have lots of flavor and not just cheese and corn. The churros with kids meals are good but they are bland for a churro. One part had no sugar of kinda filling. They have big drinks like Alcohol but they have so much ice so if no ice in it there's nothing. Water out side is also leaking. The water they have outside is groos water with oranges lemons and maybe limes. WOULD NEVER RETURN!!!!! read more

**This is for Ambriza Lounge in Katy ONLY.** The actual food/drinks at Ambriza restaurant are amazing. I've been to the Ambriza Lounge 3 times and every time has been terrible. They are always out of something and the service is terrible. But this past Saturday took the cake. We were given menus and my friend and I wanted to share a bottle of Prosecco. Per the menu, it was $30. Well, when we ordered it through the waiter he said it was showing in their system at $60. He called the manager, Lucy over. After they discussed in private he came and told us, "oh sorry, we are out of Prosecco." Well no one at our table belived that. My husband went to the bar ordered the bottle and same thing, it shows up as $60 for the bottle. He showed the bartender and he sold the bottle to him for $30. Initially we were told that they changed the prices in their system 8 days ago, but forgot to change the actual menu they hand out to customers. Then they just resorted to lying to us by saying they just didn't have the bottle instead of honoring the prices on their menu. Also, the bottle is $12 at the store, I undertand restaurant prices. But WOW, they went from $30 to $60 for the bottle!? I found Lucy's manager approach to be completely unprofessional and not sure how she is in a manager role. As much as I love their food, I will not be returning. I hope they figure the lounge situation out because they had a good salsa band, but there are other places in Katy that hire the same salsa bands that Ambriza hires. read more

I'm giving this a 3 star review because we really did have a polarizing visit. The salsa, elote, and margs were so delicious! Margaritas are strong too. I only had one, and it was enough. Then the food came out... ceviche was lukewarm and fajitas weren't sizzling. It was clear our food had been sitting out for a while. The fajitas were small for the money too! We were all very disappointed. It took a good 15-20 minutes for the manager to make it over to us which means were weren't eating. So we sat there on chips and salsa for seemed like forever with our table being avoided by the severs. We ordered extra shrimp and steak when she finally got to our table. When they came out, it was fresh and sizzling and was seasoned well. Problem is... it was my friend's birthday and we had a bad experience where we and our food sat there for a long time. I think you might be able to have a better experience than us. The place was packed so they clearly are doing something right. The ambiance is bright and colorful, and we love the Díos de Los Muertos theme. Service is great and friendly. The prices are comparable, but it is more on the pricier side for what you get. I went for a weekend birthday brunch recently, and there was an extensive amount of options to choose from on the brunch menu. I ordered the Tinga Breakfast Bowl (4/5)- w/ shredded chicken, subbed beans for Spanish rice, eggs, tomatoes, pickled onions, guac, veggies, etc. It was good and a really generous portion, but with all of those ingredients in a bowl, it lacked in a bit of flavor that I think I was expecting more...maybe a sauce or cheese/queso on top would've done the trick? The shredded chicken was seasoned well and very juicy though. We also ordered the Beef and Chicken Empanadas, and they were flaky and delicious! Presentation for all the food was really aesthetically pleasing. The drinks and appetizers are what will keep me coming back, especially for a happy hour next time. The margaritas are fruity and strong, and a huge pour that they give you a small carafe of extra margarita on the side. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here for the first time, and to imagine that we only sat at the bar and had drinks is wild. I've been to Ambriza on two occasions thus far, and both experiences were wonderful! I'd highly recommend their food and drinks. The environment is nicely decorated which makes the place even more enjoyable. I can't recall the gentleman's name who assisted us but his customer service skills were impeccable. The manager even stopped by to have a chat with us. If you're visiting Ambriza for the first time- they drop off a special food gift for you (I'll let y'all go and see.) We were refusing it at first, turns out it was genuinely a gift to first time guests. Ambriza also has a sidewalk or patio rather, for art shows where local artists have their artwork displayed. Food was solid but not 5 stars. We had a lot of carne asada tacos and steak n shrimp fajitas. Wife had the pibil tacos and said they were dry. The carne asada was good. We did the table side guac which comes with a ridiculous amount of options to choose from. It was good and fresh. We all had the street corn to start and it was pretty good too. We recently moved here from Az so we are kinda snobs when it comes to good authentic Mexican food and flavors. They introduced to the restaurant immediately as "authentic Mexican food" I'd say maybe it is but I've had much better versions of everything we ordered. When we first arrived our server Maria asked if it was our first time and explained the menu. She states that everything is cooked fresh and that this place is not tex-mex, but more mexican cusine.
