Over the last two months, I have repeatedly waited more than 15 minutes for takeout orders that should have been ready much sooner. The rapid decline in service has made visiting more frustrating than enjoyable. When I tried to address this concern, the manager on duty did everything she could to prevent me from contacting the owner. Instead of handling the situation professionally, she challenged me, stating I was "free to complain because it's a free country." Hearing this from a customer service representative was dismissive, unprofessional, and entirely uncalled for. The combination of extended wait times, declining quality of service, and outright disrespect is a clear signal that management needs the owner's attention and intervention. read more

Overall, just okay. The chips and salsa weren't great, and there was no green salsa available (only on Fridays & Saturdays). The kids' fries were very oily and lacked flavor. El Jarrito is a good Mexican spot in Katy. They've got all your standard Tex Mex dishes. I like how they bring out beans with the salsa. The queso is tasty and I requested pickled jalapeños which they gave plenty of that were mild. I forgot to take pics of my main meal because I was too hungry but I had a combo plate that had a cheese enchilada, chicken chalupa, and beef fajita taco. The enchilada was tasty. The chalupa was difficult to eat and the chicken had no taste. The beef in the taco was overly charred tasting. I liked the beans and rice. Next time I would probably just get an enchiladas plate. The service was good and I like how ornate the decorations are. The tables are also nicely organized to provide a bit of space from others. read more

Is it still good? Yes, el Jarrito still has tasty food and good drinks. I had the mole enchiladas. I have had mole before where the sauce was very heavy, but not so much with this dish. Add just a touch of crema fresca (Mexican sour cream) to each bite, and the taste is incredible. Recommended. I drank a house margarita with the meal and enjoyed it. Strong, but still smooth. Later I had some of my wife's quesadillas. A ton of cheese and very good. We enjoy the green sauce and beans served with tortilla chips. read more

I haven't been here in a while; probably been about three years. I was dining late on a Sunday, and they stay open a little later than the neighboring Mexican restaurants. My margarita was so good and so large! I ordered a frozen sangria swirl. The decor is kitschy 1980s overblown Mexican restaurant theme. But it's clean and large, including a large outdoor patio where many diners were seated. I ordered a fairly standard enchilada platter. It's exactly what you think of when you want good reliable Tex-mex. I definitely need to come back here, and bring some friends and sit on the patio! read more

Out and about on a Saturday with my friends while the wifey was getting a mani pedi and we had the craving for sone Mexican food. So we see this place and gave it a try. First off, if you like Guacamole as an appetizer, they do an amazing table side guacamole that is so so so delicious! I always order fajitas when it's my first time at a Mexican restaurant to kinda gauge if I would ever come back. So I order the chicken fajitas. They were good but didn't have any flavor to them. I asked for some limes and squeezed some over the fajitas just to give them some kind of flavor. The grilled onions that come with the fajitas were really good and had great flavor to them so I was confused by this. Maybe next time I will ask if I can just order onion fajita's? The lime juice saved the chicken from being a total disaster but I could see myself coming back just to get some more of that table side guacamole! read more

Another Friday fajita night! El Jarrito was starting to really fill up with plenty of happy people leaving the work week behind and grab great food with friends. I love that this neighborhood restaurant is thriving and remains a place for folks to call on as a place to gather. It's the perfect evening for margaritas and the patio! read more

We came here after searching for new places in the area where we can eat, while the kids play. This place has a great patio area, and a nice little sand pit. My kiddos brought some barbies and trucks and had a blast playing while my date and I dined. Over all, this is typical Tex-Mex. There wasn't anything that stood out as a "must have" or "must come back for" other than just the atmosphere. The combo fajitas for one were pretty good, but when they're not routinely served with sour cream, points are deducted in my book. :) My date got the enchiladas verdes and he said they were good. We will definitely be back- mostly for the ability for the kids to play, while we enjoy good, well-priced Tex-Mex. read more

Well this place was super packed so you know the food is good for people to wait 35 minutes and we did. While we were there we were waiting to be seated and me and several others wanted a beverage while we waited. They informed us that we could not get a drink until we were seated. This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. What time as the owner/manager thinking! I guess they don't want to make money or turn people away. I was there waiting with a group of twenty people. All they wanted was a beverage while they waited. Shortly thereafter they departed! If individuals wants drinks give it to them and close out the account right there a d then or add the drinks to the table or is this to hard. Anyways my waitress was outstanding, the service was great, they were friendly and on the spot. I really love the food at this place reminded me when I was stationed in El Paso, TX. I got the plate I always get #63. This plate has shrimp, chicks and fajita wrapped jalapeños! If you get this plate you must like spicy food! Anyways we were all satisfied and will definitely return. We LOVED this place and now I'm really upset that it's been there the entire time and we never knew. The ambiance is great, lots of colors and fun south of the border decor. We went on a Friday night and there was live music! Our waiter was an absolute delight. The margaritas were perfect, not made with some gross syrup that tastes more like a kids drink than an alcoholic beverage. The salsas were tasty and the additional beans was the cherry on top. I'm capable of eating all the salsas before the meal and not having room left, so I had to go slowly. The food came out and it was served on a sizzling hot plate with fresh tortillas, refried beans and rice. Everything was so delicious, I loved it and gotta say, it's up there with the best. I have been to many Mexican restaurants in the Houston and Katy area and I was not impressed. Margarita's were subpar and any speciality drinks you ordered are weak. I ordered off the drink menu and they had no idea what I was ordering. I asked for a Long Island and the waiter had no idea. The fajitas my husband ordered were mushy and they charged for any extra tortillas after 3 you had. For $23 for fajitas for 1 it was not worth the price. Won't be back! Sorry to say. Great service, nice outdoor patio...today however is during corona virus, so we had to drive up and pickup.
